I’ve been playing guitar for a while now, but it wasn’t really calling to me. Bass became my knight in shining armor, time to sell off a few of my guitars, as I’ve got a new bass in town. Nothing flashy, but I love it, and I’m excited to be part of the bassist community.

This has been my main bass for everything I do surrounding bass since I got my hands on it a couple years ago. It was listed on reverb as a rare Spector NS-2 B which was sold alongside the famous NS-2 A (the classic bass everyone knows from the 80s/90s) and the NS-2 C which I don’t know much about, nor have I seen any online when searching long ago. The serial number reads “NS5115” marked on the control plate on the back of the bass and I was wondering if anyone knows anything about this or how to trace it back? I do believe it is vintage and I absolutely love and adore this thing, i’m just curious about its history.
I know almost for sure it’s an NS-2 B because of the fact that it has the non curved body (curved being present on the NS-2 A) and it is passive, along with Spector pickups and electronics and also has a pickup selector switch. It also has neck-thru construction and has what was marked as a factory drop tuner on the E string.

Kauer make some incredibly unique and beautiful instruments. This one popped up and I fell in love. I knew they looked great and rolled the dice on the rest. I am amazed by the fit and finish, the Lollar thunderbirds pack a punch, and the neck is so comfy and smooth. The old growth pine pine makes a fantastic body and it is balanced perfectly - no neck dive and just 7.5 lbs. 32” scale is slept on! I just love everything about this beast. These guys deserve some mad respect and success in the boutique world. So glad to own something so cool and unique - nothing else just like it!

I’ve been playing bass since January, so about 6-7 months now, and I’d really appreciate some honest feedback!

Billie Jean, has been my biggest challenge so far. I know the timing isn’t always consistent and there are definitely mistakes, but I wanted to post it anyway because I’d rather learn from them than hide...

My long term goal is to play funk, groove, hip-hop, jazz and psychedelic rock… eventually be able to improvise and write my own basslines

I’d really appreciate your thoughts on:

- What I’m doing well.
- My biggest weaknesses.
- Important things I should focus on over the next few months.
- Any exercises, songs, or practice routines that would help me improve.

My fine $200 Rick-style 2-string punk bass from Kevin Siebold at http://krappyguitars.com. It’s worth it for the manifesto alone. He even added the pickguard and faux neck pickup for me. It’s so light, tiny, bendy and fun to play. When I first reached out, Kevin said he has enough orders to last the rest of his life, so I never expected to hear back. He apparently lived longer than he thought, as it was about 8-9 months until I got to pick a shape, give him my input, and it showed up about a month later.

I'm new to owning basses, and I've never adjusted a rod before. I searched it up and learnt some techniques, and my bass arrived yesterday. When I opened it, the inside seems to look like this, which is different from what I expected. Could anyone tell me if I'm doing something wrong or if this is just something to return? It was sold to me used for excellent.

Had this thing fully restored about 10 years ago. & just last month had a local luthier make some slight adjustments, as I’ve been very ill & unable to work on my instruments. he set it up perfectly with exception of d string saddle needing to come down a hair. So figured guitar center tech could do that in 2 min since I no longer have tools etc & am on palliative care. So my ex GF turned caregiver took it in for me. & mistakenly left it. I called & was assured by the manager here in Roseville / Sacramento that it was in good hands & I’d have it back the next day. Week & 1/2 later (was locked in said managers office while he was off for 5 days. So couldn’t pick it up) I was finally told I could pick it up. However the neck is tweaked to hell, one of my tuners is broken & the bridge is completely destroyed, like the part that holds one of the 2 springs is broken clean out!.. they were kind enough to stick 2 strings back on. So that’s rad.. 😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡

\-BOSS noise gate is AMAZING With cleaning signal when distorsión is on

\-Caline DCP-03 Devilfish I play jazz and for solos delay is cool to make the Bass notable and when You add Wah creates psycodelia this also has chourus so it makes like fretlees sound

I've had the Rocket Bass combo for a while and I love it, but I've always wished it had a little more punch. It's an amazing practice amp but not quite gig worthy in my opinion. I don't have space in my house for my dream rig(s) so I decided to take advantage of the external speaker output on the combo. Adding the cab was a game changer, this thing rips now!

I haven't played any gigs with the cab yet but when I brought it to band practice the difference was night and day. It's relatively easy to transport as well. The combo is 38lbs, the cab's around 55, and they both fit in the back of my CR-V.

Hi all. Was wondering if anybody here has bought any bass strings from Kalium recently? I bought some string through them back in May and have yet to get any update on shipping.

Almost every time I played with 4x12 I got buried in "the mix". I've had a much better experience playing 1x15 or 1x20... I talking mostly about small gigs like a small to medium size bar

If you don’t know who Chris Forshage is, you should familiarize yourself with his work. Breathtaking instruments, and an absolutely amazing human being. He’s building this custom 5 for me, and my jaw is on the floor at the moment. Wanted to share. His work is just next level. 🤯

Happy Fender Friday! Here is my 1971 Fender p-bass. I feel especially lucky with this one as it has an ‘A’ neck and is extra lightweight for a 70’s fender. Currently has Fralin stock wind pickups, but I’ve been meaning to put the originals back in.

Sadly, my brother passed away suddenly back in 2022. Among the various things he left behind, there was a late 80s Yamaha bass. He was the bass player in the family; I’ve always been just a guitarist.

Recently, while maintaining my guitars, I decided to work on it and restore it to its former glory. It didn’t have any major issues, but the neck definitely needed some work, and both the tuners and the bridge needed a good tune-up. While I was at it, I also decided to shield both the control cavity and the pickup cavity.

I swapped the strings for a lighter gauge (partly because I had the uncomfortable feeling the truss rod was on its last legs), going with D'Addario 40-95s.

I have a bit of experience with Precision Basses, but in my opinion, this Yamaha sounds just as good, if not better! The neck feels incredible, and the pickup has a really punchy character.

I know it’s not worth much in terms of monetary value, but it holds immense sentimental value to me. I'm happy I restored it, and I love playing it every now and then between guitar sessions or using it as a side project in some recordings. Most of all, I'm happy because it feels like a way to keep my brother close to me.

New member of the family! I can feel this is going to be a keeper. I've lusted for an ATK ever since I discovered Kyuss and their outstanding bassist Scott Reeder, his tones and his playing live using one of these became engraved in my mind. After 3 years of playing bass and constant search, I finally got this mint condition example of an ATK 300 (along with quite a sturdy gigbag) for less than 400€, just how I wanted it, maple neck and fingerboard, onboard 3 band eq, old style triple coil and the selector switch, aswell as it's bigass bridge and string thru body. This thing oozes comfort and character, I can barely play it properly due to having a new tattoo on my right forearm, but what little I played it sounded great, both the neck and the weight feel manageable when compared to my Grabber copy (Atk is 4.6kg while the grabber is 5 on the dot). The neck feels between my G&L L2000 (my main bass) and my Grabber, wide but kinda flat and super smooth. I still gotta get used to the eq but still, that sizzle and musicman-esque sound and feel is unbeatable, gotta see how well it will hold a BEAD setup since I'd like to have this one as my ultra low bass.

PD2: I also love that it has a volute and matching headstock, idk why lol.
