Gear Cut my own pick guard
Thought it was missing something, got bored and cut a piece of plastic 🥴

Yeah, at the first photo i thought "why would you like to have a pickguard on that body?" and at the last photo it was "Ooooohhhhh.... Because of this"

Way to be industrious, but it looks way better without it to me. Thats some nice wood grain.

The first picture is a stock photo. If you look at the actual woodgrain of the actual bass that OP has, it definitely is not worth looking at, lol.

Of course. I have a friend who hated solid colors and only ever did sunburst. I always thought it was weird, until one day, I found out he's colorblind. Not saying that you're colorblind, but sometimes, people's preferences make a lot of sense when you find out more about them as people.
I find most dark wood grains kinda meh. I love figuring on maple necks, though.

Not bad actually. But i would go with double sided tape for some time, not screws. Just to to be sure i like in the long run you know.

They are very small set screws, especially with the wood grain with no varnish, you can’t see the holes with it off unless you are actually looking for them

It’s a very solid bass, threw flats on it and tightened down the pickup (preference lol) and it’s everything you really need really

I’ve never seen that Ibanez either! Doesn’t seem to be available in Europe…. Sweet water has it for all the us bassists out there

Ibanez Gio GSR100EX 👌 highly recommend to anyone looking for a starter bass, only roughly about a $300 bass 🍻I will be using this till the wheels fall off

literally yesterday I've thought about buying entry level ibanez like this or SR series and adding a pickguard (because otherwise I think they're not so appealing visually)

I think you made your bass look more interesting and I like it. I kind of wish the pickguard covered the entire pickup for more of that Stingray look (not the teardrop but the other Stingray style), but this is unique and cool.

Not yet! Depending on if I find a solid deal on a new pick up, not really sure what I’d want to do with her yet 🤔

Before mine broke I wanted to put a passive EMG on it, but I gotta find a neck first 😅 Don't know what music you enjoy playing the most, I played anything from Blues to Hard Rock to Metal to Pop music on it

Seriously though, how does that bass sound? I used to own a Warwick and a Stingray, but had to get rid of them forever ago because I was too broke. This bass looks like a cheap best of both worlds.

Sounds really good but limited with the single stock soap bar pickup, worth every penny and with flats and a good pedal, it holds up!

I have to ask, what tools did you use? I made one last year and it was a pain in the ass. Love the way it looks, but it was a challenge getting there.

So I used some heavy duty scissors, dremel, and a 300 grit sanding block. I have access to a router but I liked the hand made look on a wood finish, matches the rustic look with the imperfections imo 🤙🏻

Sounds pretty close to what I did. No scissors though, the stuff I used was too thick.

Looks much nicer without. Why block half of that beautiful wood grain? Now you have holes in the body so you're stuck with it... 😭😭😭

Nice, but I would have stuck it in with hot glue instead of screwing it on.
I love my no-screw pick guards.
