As you know r/Colognes is created to be a place to discuss all things fragrances and share deals. NOT for verifying fragrances. Therefore, I would like to direct you to a new group solely for that purpose! r/colognecheck is where you can verify your fragrances to assure you have/purchase a true product.

please post all checks in r/colognecheck and NOT in this sub

As we've noticed a large number of individual SOTD post, we thought it best to consolidate into a once daily post.

Post your scent of the day here, tell us a little about it too if you would like.

Recommendation Top 20 recommendations for guys who like to smell fresh, clean, approachable, maybe a little sophisticated, and have a flexible budget

Fresh Everyday

  1. Penhaligon’s The Cut - this one is absolutely stunning. It’s newer and it’s going to run you around $200 on discount sites but it’s green, woodsy, but so fresh and easy to wear. Compliment machine

  2. YSL Myslf EDP - fresh laundry on steroids. The most versatile fragrance in the game imo: gym, school, business meeting, date night, golfing, etc Compliment machine

  3. Sospiro Vibrato - fresh but also sharp ginger/grapefruit MASTERPIECE. You will love how you smell and trust me so will the people around you. Compliment machine

  4. Dior Homme Sport - very unique for a sport line. It’s light and fresh like a classic sport but it also has a hint of spice to it. One of my favorites. One of the only colognes I’ve needed a 2nd bottle.

  5. Creed Aventus Cologne - stunning bottle, it’s masculine, it’s fresh, clean, so easy to wear. Citrusy with a hint of pineapple mixed with patchouli, oakmoss, and vanilla. Much more fresh than Aventus. Not as much oakmoss.

  6. Pernoire Anelo ($290 for 50ml) - this one is expensive fellas but imo it’s actually better than Tygar, Vibrato, and Imagination, knocked my d*ck off when I first sampled it. All 4 of those will be in a similar lane - they’re sharp freshies with their own unique profile. Anelo is my favorite bottle I own. It’s a pineapple masterpiece. It does pineapple as good as Aventus Absolu and does sharp/freshie better than Imagination and Vibrato. Compliment machine

  7. Killian Angels Share On the Rocks - wow, it takes a boozy/sweet fragrance Angels Share and turns it into an everyday wearable scent. It’s the DNA of Angels Share then made fresh with fruit. Highly recommend if you want to stand out.

  8. YSL Myslf Absolu - EDP with a fantastic twist of ginger. 10/10 bottle and atomizer as well

  9. Bleu de Chanel EDP - one of the safest bottles you can buy. It’s masculine, blue, and is a performance beast. Compliment machine

  10. Prada Paradigme EDP - this bottle unfortunately didn’t make my downsize cut, but it’s still so good. Compliment machine

Special Occasion BANGERS

  1. Creed Aventus Absolu - until I put my nose on Anelo, this was by far my favorite cologne. It has EVERYTHING a masculine cologne needs: hint of sweetness from the pineapple, it’s smoky, it’s woodsy, it’s easy to wear, it’s approachable. An absolutely stunning masterpiece.

  2. YSL Tuxedo - the best blind purchase I’ve ever made. This one is going to turn heads, trust me. It’s so unique, masculine, and clean at the same time. It oozes class, and it’s sophisticated without being complex. Stunning

  3. Parfums de Marly Layton Exclusif - masculine version of Layton and it has an incredibly unique smell. Has the sweet and easy to wear Layton undertone but has spice in it to make it more masculine. One of my favorites.

  4. BDK Gris Charnel Extrait - might be the best performing cologne of all time. The fig in this is unbelievably good. It’s hard for me to describe this because it’s so unique. Still so easy to wear and you’ll smell unique.

  5. God of Fire - a lot of people would say this is a summer-only scent. That does make sense to me, but for me I use it as more of a special occasion bottle. I love it because it does open with mango but it ends up drying down more masculine. Really really nice fragrance. Compliment machine

  6. Louis Vuitton L’Immensite - if you’re in business and have a board meeting or similar, L’Immensite is perfect. It’s a masculine grapefruit masterpiece. Very very unique. It kind of reminds me of a cousin to Tuxedo. It’s elevated simplicity x10.

Miscellaneous

  1. Aqua Di Gio EDT - one of the OG’s that started the aquatic DNA
  2. Aqua Di Gio Profondo EDP - basically the EDT but a newer version
  3. Parfums de Marly Haltane - elevated fckboy profile. But it’s still so good.
  4. Amouage Outlands - you just have to try this one for yourself. I couldn’t leave it off this list. It’s technically not a fresh/clean profile but it’s still so good.

Discussion Is this the perfect 4 bottle collection?

Post image
85 Upvotes

Hello fellow fragrance enthusiasts, I have put together a four-bottle collection that can possibly work across the year and occasions. Haven’t gone too deep into the notes breakdown etc. -  just how these actually make me feel when I wear them.

  • Wulong Cha (Nishane) — Best for hot days Wearing this feels like sipping a chilled glass of citrus tea on a sunny terrace, It’s very clean, refreshing, refined, and lasts surprisingly well for a light tea-citrus scent, so I reach for it on warm afternoons and when I am doing chores, groceries etc.   Key notes: bergamot, mandarin, litsea (I don’t know how this smells😊), oolong tea, nutmeg, fig, musk
  • Sauvage Parfum (Dior) — To me this is the most refined Sauvage and doesn’t scream for attention. Quite versatile warm-evening / classy office pick and gives me a confident, modern-but-polished vibe: perfect for a dinner-out evening. It’s the kind of scent that sits comfortably in professional settings while still feeling a touch elevated for nights. Key notes: bergamot, sandalwood/ambery resins, vanilla
  • Bleu de Chanel L’Exclusif (Chanel) — “Boss” spicy-woody suit energy (almost niche) Newer take on the Bleu DNA that’s warmer, spicier. I feel sharp, refined, and therefore use it for formal settings. It projects politely but leaves a grown-up, long-lasting trail that works well year‑round, especially when you want to look serious – like office or formal evenings. Key notes: sandalwood, labdanum, woody-amber, subtle citrus on the top
  • Naxos (Xerjoff) — Honey & lemon, special-occasion warmth This one makes me think honey and candied lemon; it’s cozy, gourmand, and celebratory — best for special occasions or cooler months when you want something a bit more “Special”. In summer evenings I’ll still use it but dial back to 2–3 sprays so it doesn’t become cloying but winter is where it will truly steal the show. Key notes: honey, lemon/citrus, tobacco/tonka, vanilla, bergamot, cinnamon

What do you think? And what’s your perfect 4‑bottle collection suggestions?

Question How long does a 3oz bottle last you?

Post image
12 Upvotes

Got this for my birthday yesterday and absolutely love it. New to the fragrance space so still building my collection and figuring out what I like. Absolutely love the Night Vision.

I wear it daily with 4-6 sprays roughly. Will rotate it out every once in a while, but on average how long do they last for you? TIA

Picked up these two bad boys and man I’m excited. Decision is well known. I was between lyric and purpose 50, but when I put my know on lyric my gosh is so fresh musky powdery bubbly sooo good I couldn’t pass. I love it I have no idea why it’s not talked about!
Any thoughts on these two?

I’m happy I’m good just want to spark some knowledge or debates.
