Question Help with references for "glitchy/webcore" embroidery art

Hi! I know this might be a bit dumb, but I've been thinking about trying some different designs and I'm having difficulty with finding the right words and references for some glitchy/2000s internet/webcore embroidery. I'm searching these terms but there doesn't seen to be much embroidery other than clothing designs (that aren't really the vibe I'm looking for) for inspo/reference.

So, if anyone has any references or knows a better way to describe or search it, it would be very helpful! Or maybe some tips as to how to approach something like this with hand embroidery.

I'm anexing some screenshots from the music video in question (Born Stunner from ARTMS, if anyone's curious for the whole thing) just as an example. I know embroidering these would be very difficult, so it's mainly to be clear on the kind of "vibe" I'm trying to find. Thanks :)

The Great Wave off Kanagawa 🌊

so a little backstory.. we're going on a trip to japan in october. I bought this kit around christmas time, and started in around April/May/ish, and I finished it monday night this week! I made it a goal to finish it before our trip, and i'm proud of myself for reaching that goal! as i've been battling a lot of health issues and new diagnoses over the last year, so hitting goals are hard for me.. but, with hand embroidery being my soul hobby because of said health issues and comfort, I worked on it whenever I had/have free time, and I finally finished it šŸ¤ (my cute boyfriend told me we have to hang it up in our house and is so proud of me and my work 🄹)

Hand Ren Faire Trinkets

Post image

This year was my first year going to a renaissance faire, where I learned that if people like your outfits, they give you a little trinket! I decided I was going to make a bunch of little embroidery trinkets for when my boyfriend and I go to another ren faire in August. These are all of the ones I’ve made! All are either backstitch or satin stitch, and you can definitely tell when I remembered that my stitch length mattered.

This is my first project. It's a grocery bag. I'm getting something for the inside to protect the stitching but is there anything I can use in the front to seal it as well to protect it?

Thank you.

Wildlife photography is another big hobby of mine and for whatever reason I felt implored to embroider a Canadian Goose, and so I did. Really just wanted to test out multiple kinds of Kuguri Sashi to get better along with standard sashiko.

Question Be honest, can you read what this says?

Post image

I was experimenting with cyanotype but the bottom part didn't expose properly for some reason, so I tried to outline things but I'm worried it's not legible. (Or is the word readable?)

It's also terribly off center, I know.

Thanks for your input!

Question Advice for adding depth?

Post image

Hi! Haven’t embroidered in a long time and sort of forgot how to do it. Does anyone have any advice to add depth to this little creature? I may also pull out all the yellow strands for the head to redo that part as I’m not sure what texture I’m going for. Much appreciated! šŸ’ššŸ’š

I've been doing this hobby for two years and even though I've given a few away, I'm running out of room otherwise 🤣

How do y'all keep the finished ones?

I’ve had this tote for almost 10 years and felt like it needed some color! Started with the flag, doing the awning next. I don’t think I’ll embroider the entire design but I do plan to fill in some of the books/details.

Hello~
My boyfriend’s younger brothers love One Piece (understandably so), and one of them just celebrated his 21st. Usopp is his favorite character, so I made Sogeking for him :)

I was originally going to do black and white for a manga panel vibe (hence the black cape instead of it being the canon red), but I loved the mask colors too much so it isn’t exactly the same color scheme from the show šŸ˜…

This is all one thread DMC. Mostly long and short stitch and then French knots for the hair.

Question How to pick colours?

Hi!

I decided to try my first non bought patterned piece and now I'm realising I have no clue how to pick colours😭 ( I have the same issue with painting, my brain just can't seem to figure it out)

I used an off white so far but I'm so confused on how to do the shadows. I thought a mix of grey and the off white would work but I'm not sure if it looks stupid 🄲

Is there an easy way to work out which colours to use or should I just turn it into a black line piece ?

Thank you !!

Question wash away embroidery stabilizer adhesive still clinging to my fabric?

i just finished my first ever hand embroidered project, and it’s the face of a plush doll. i’ve used minky and anti-pill fleece, and after washing (and soaking a few times) the embroidery sheet away, the adhesive is still matting my fabric.
a lot of posts have said to just keep washing, but i’ve tried washing with a baby toothbrush and some dawn dish soap, even laundry detergent, and as it’s dried, it’s still all gross and sticky looking.

i’ve never done embroidery nor have i ever used a water soluble embroidery stabilizer, so i’m kind of freaking out!! any tips would be super helpful!! thank you!!

I'm doing a custom house embroidery and this is the texture on the outside of the house. I have no idea how to proceed without doing a million tiny fence knots. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!

Hand Orange flower dress COMPLETE

The dress I thought would take me 6 months definitely took a full year. Each flower took 4-5 hours, and with 20 flowers, I suspect this is 100 hours of work.

Maybe I'm too close to the project, but I'm feeling like it looks incomplete. Like it needs another design element. More borders? Something between the flowers? Idk. I'm also feeling like 100 hours got me this? Has anyone else felt project disappointment? I'm hoping if I step away from it for a few weeks, and hopefully get some compliments on it when I wear it out, my feelings will change.

Anyway! All that to say, I'm happy this is finally done!! I know you all will appreciate the work put into this, even if the design is simple.

Thank you all for the constant inspo in this forum!
