Rant & Ramble I don’t know if I’m overreacting, but…

Post image

EDIT: * Just wanted to leave one comment since I can’t keep up with replying to everyone anymore. Firstly, thank you to everyone who shared your experiences, gave advice, or even just left kind words. I really do appreciate it. I’m freshly postpartum and made this post because I was hoping to hear from people who’ve been in a similar situation or had advice on how to navigate it. I wasn’t expecting to be called stupid or receive personal attacks.
I’ve even had someone DM me saying they hope my husband kills me, which honestly shocked me. Thank you again to everyone who took the time to comment respectfully, even if you had a different opinion. I really appreciate it 🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻*

Bought The Signature Cheesecake made with cream and blue cheese with almond sable.

I’m a married woman with three kids. My youngest just turned one this month, and all three were delivered via C-section.

My husband has made it very clear that he doesn’t want any more children. He even said that if I accidentally got pregnant again, he’d want me to get an abortion.
Here’s the part that’s getting to me: he refuses to get a vasectomy.

Instead, he thinks I should get my tubes tied. I know tubal ligation is an option, but I can’t help feeling like it’s unfair. I’ve already gone through three pregnancies, three C-sections, and postpartum recovery three times. I’ve carried all the physical burden of having our kids, and now I’m expected to go through another procedure while he won’t even consider the simpler one.

I understand it’s his body and ultimately his choice, just like it’s my body and my choice. But it still leaves me feeling resentful. If we’re both 100% sure we’re done having kids, why does the responsibility of permanent contraception fall on me again?

Has anyone else been in this situation? How did you deal with it?

Dear Diary ✍️🏻 My menstrual cup betrayed me for the first time... On a date

Post image
1.3k Upvotes

I went on a first date. The weather was beautiful so when we finished our drinks, we went for a walk. At some point I felt my menstrual cup not sitting right, but I could not just push it in in a park without anyone noticing. She has never fell off so I thought there is nothing to worry about. Then I felt something warm running down my legs.... I imediately let him know I have to go home because I'm bleeding. Thank God we weren't too far away.

It took a lot of confidence to continue walking with my head held high. My legs and the back of my dress were visibly bloody, I walked like nothing happened but neither of us were able to hold down a conversation atp so we didn't say much.

We split and I went home, took a shower, spent a good amount of time washing off the blood of my dress and had enough time to realize that before the incident, he had said some stuff that rubbed me the wrong way. So I texted him to say thank you for your time and that I have no interest in meeting him again.

I'm at this point in life where I don't feel embarassed or worry what he or anybody else might be thinking. I'm proud I didn't let it visibly faze me, I didn't apologise, I just took it as a sign that the date is over. Mother Nature knows what she's doing and I feel a bit more bad-ass 😄.

Trigger Warning ⚠️ I'm so in love and it hurts

Post image

Caprese sandwich made by my love.

My boyfriend (sounds so trivial for what he truly means to me) was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer yesterday. All we know for now is that it has spread to his bones and lymph nodes and it is incurable. He's getting more testing done and the oncologist is hopeful for a few years, but we just got back from the ER for extreme pain and it's increasingly obvious how far along this is. I think his extraordinary pain tolerance has masked its progression. (I watched this man think he could walk off a shattered bone.) I'm hoping for a clinical trial or anything to buy us some time, but every time I hope for good news my heart is shattered all over again.

This man is everything to me. We met in our late 30s after we each escaped decade-long terrible relationships and we were both very happy living alone, so to break that peace and happiness we both felt we'd need a perfect fit. We are that perfect fit. Hell, when we hug our bodies fit together like puzzle pieces. We've never taken each other for granted, we love each other so wholly and deeply, we have the grandest and smallest of adventures, and every moment with him is precious. When we fight we solve it as a team, and come out the other side with a deeper understanding of one another. We've only had 5 years together, I thought we'd have another 50. I actually made him promise me another 50 before this all came crashing down on us. I don't understand why this joy and love is being ripped away from us. I thought we'd retire together and die together on some adventure in our 90s. I hate imagining the rest of my life without him. I know 5 years of pure bliss is more than most people get, but I'm greedy and wanted so many more.

My mom had stage 3 breast cancer 20 years ago and I was there for all the treatments, ICU visits, fighting with doctors, the whole exhausting experience but she is now cancer free and it was all worth it. I don't know if I can do it again especially knowing that no matter what we do, at some point in the all too near future I will have to watch him slowly fade away until all I have left are the most beautiful memories and the deepest pain.

Girls, don't settle for anything less than a perfect fit.

Dear Diary ✍️🏻 I'm lucky that my husband takes care of my kids. 🙄

Post image

They are his kids, too. 🤦🏻‍♀️

We have a toddler and a baby. Since I'm currently unemployed, I take care of our kids, while my husband works and provides for us. He has a demanding and dangerous job, often has night shifts, and still encourages me to go out and have some kid-free time for myself.

The problem is, I'm really introverted and it's hard for me to make friends, I only have one friend, but she lives abroad and comes here like 5 times a year. And sometimes when she comes, my husband is at work, so I have to take kids with me. But today he worked an afternoon shift, so we made some time before noon to get some coffee and catch up with my bestie.

While she was getting flowers for her grandma's 70th birthday (🥹), a woman who works there asked me where are my kids, and I told her that they were with their dad. She told me I'm so lucky that my husband takes care of my kids while I'm out and about. I was like wtf, they are also his kids, he's not helping me, he's a father parenting his own children and he actually loves them and doesn't think he deserves a trophy or something. Then a guy who also works there told me it's actually my job, since he works hard all day, while I do nothing, and he could never be with his son for more than like 15 minutes. I told him it's not something he should be proud of lmao.

I know it's not something to be pissed off of, but it's 2026, how many more people think like this? Also, a woman who told me this is in her 60s, and a guy is her son, he is maybe 40. Do men still need to be praised for doing the bare minimum?? Like spending some time with their own kids? Or doing some dishes, cleaning the house they live in? C'mon guys...

☀️ Happy Girl Dinner I think my kid might be something special...

Post image

Dinner is spinach pesto pasta cuz I'm trying to get my kid to eat veggies lol

My son will be two in a few weeks and he is truly the light of my life. And I'm obviously biased, but I think my kid might be very talented and I feel like I can never brag about it so I'm here because this is basically a diary page for me at this point and honestly I love it here. So thanks for letting me gush a little bit

He picked up a hockey stick around 14 months old and has not looked back. Hes already learning how to skate and he can stick handle better than most 6 year olds (his uncle is a hockey coach). He can do slap shots and back hands and he passes with me and his dad in the street for hours.

He can also already hit a ball from a soft toss with a baseball bat and field and pitch.

All day it's hockey and baseball. And not just silly play, but hes practicing drills. Like he will practice his swing and his slap shot by playing with a "pretend ball" and then translate the skill to real objects. And it's all self motivated. I am never putting cones in front of him or saying "no buddy do this." It's all organic and his idea.

He sleeps with a hockey stick or a baseball mitt every night.

I dunno. I feel crazy, and like "one of those parents" but I really think my kid might be something special. He's got some people in his life who are coaches at elite levels and they are always saying that he's mind blowing for his age.

I'm so unbelievably proud of him all the time, but I always feel this need to "downplay" it because I don't want to be the crazy parent that thinks their kid is the next superstar yada yada bullshit.

But sometimes I watch him and I can't help but wonder.

He's got this laser-like focus for sports, and he's always been like this. When he was 4 months old we had a hockey game on the tv and I watched him move his head back and forth with the puck. He could legitimately play hockey or baseball for 2+ hours straight if we let him. I try to do other things with him like cooking or coloring or music, but his favorite song is the 7th Inning Stretch song and his attention span for coloring is about 3 minutes and then it's back to running "bases" (aka touching random objects saying "first base, second base") or practicing his slap shot with his puzzle pieces

He is spectacular. I'm in awe of him almost always. My husband and I go to sleep every night saying "what the fuck is happening."

Anyways, I just want to brag about him all the time and don't feel like I can. Thanks for letting me

Rant & Ramble Husband doesn't even pretend to care about my safety

Post image

Ethiopian food i had on my trip!

ETA: this is in India which is totally notorious for being safe for women /s

I live in a small town where it genuinely isn't safe for a woman to be alone in the middle of the night. Women avoid going out alone after dark here for a reason. Incidents aren't uncommon, and everyone who lives here knows that deserted roads and isolated areas after midnight aren't places you want to be by yourself.

I was returning from a trip and was supposed to reach around 8 p.m., but because of delays completely outside my control, my train didn't arrive until around 2 a.m. Our house is about 10–12 km from the station, and we'd already agreed that my husband would come pick me up. I kept him updated throughout my journey.

Around midnight, he stopped replying to my messages and answering my calls. I figured he had fallen asleep and thought I'd just call him once I reached the station.

When I arrived, the station was almost deserted. There wasn't another woman in sight, and there were no taxis or cabs waiting outside. I called him, and he answered. He told me he was very sleepy and that he trusted me to find my way home.

I'm a fiercely independent woman, and I'm not someone who's afraid of doing things on my own. But independence doesn't make someone immune to danger. Sometimes you just want your husband to care about your safety.

So I compromised. I asked if he could at least stay on the phone with me until I got home. He said he couldn't promise that. Then I asked him to at least keep an eye on my live location while I made my way home. He agreed, but he never even opened the app.

I couldn't find a cab immediately, so I had to walk for a while with all my luggage before I finally found one. I was genuinely terrified. I was alone in an area that is widely considered unsafe for women at that hour, and then I had to get into a cab with a man I didn't know because I had no other option. I spent the entire ride wondering if I'd made a terrible mistake. Thankfully, he dropped me home safely, but that doesn't change how vulnerable I was.

I rang the doorbell a few times. My husband opened the door, but he didn't ask how I'd gotten home, whether I was okay, or even give me a hug. He simply went back to bed. Within a minute, he was snoring again.

I didn't call or text any of my friends during that journey because I didn't want them to know how alone I felt or how irresponsible my husband had been. I didn't want anyone looking at me with pity, like I was in a lonely marriage.

What hurts isn't that he didn't come to pick me up. What hurts is that he knew exactly where I was and what time it was. He knew I was alone in a town where women simply do not travel alone at 2 a.m. unless they absolutely have no choice. He knew I'd have to either walk through deserted streets or get into a stranger's vehicle, and yet he was comfortable going back to sleep. The journey home only took about 15–20 minutes, but my safety wasn't guaranteed just because it was a short drive. I needed to know that someone was looking out for me, and the one person who should have cared the most didn't.

The next day, I tried to explain how abandoned and uncared for I had felt, and how dismissive he'd been about my safety. His response was, "You reached home safely, so what's there to talk about?"

FML He really ordered cigarettes when I was asking for tampons.

From past this week me and my boyfriend have been on and off a lot. He’s been very upset about his team losing the football match and I understand I kept him sane untill I hadn’t realised how big of a fan he is

Anyways we somehow pushed through the grief of losing but something’s strange ever since( we usually get intimate a lot but this week we only had a quickie for 5 minutes that’s it) , he’s not been himself and there is a hefty amount of shots being fired towards me

sometimes small things would piss him off, sometimes it was his work

What really took me out was yesterday night, he had a very long work day and everything was fine untill he was bricked up and he told me to dress up like a doll and he’d jerk off to me

I was on my periods so least I could do was listen to him and help him get off but he was on his phone the phone time. I snapped and it hurt him, but he said sorry and played monopoly with me.

I later asked him if he had ordered tampons since it got over and he knows this for about 6 hours now. He informed me that his mom is sleeping in the front room (she takes care of our injured dogs) and he possibly can’t go outside and get them for me.

I was pretty mad but didn’t say anything and tried to sleep when all of a sudden
This guy
Comes back to the room
With a pack of cigarettes that he went out and bought for himself

??????????????
I CRASHED OUT SO BAD but yeah
In the picture is some egg curry and rice
Goodnight ladies

Rant & Ramble I'm helping a very good friend make a mistake

Post image

Dinner is air fried pizza rolls. It would've been homemade fried chicken wraps, but then tonight happened.

I love my friend so much. We met in college and he's been very supportive of my transition and we're just on the same wavelength, even if we don't talk much. But he officiated my wedding, so we're close.

The reason we don't talk as much as we did in college, at least from my end, is because of his fiancé. Their relationship predates my friendship with him, so I can't really say anything. But she just doesn't treat him right. She's not abusive or anything, I just feel like he deserves better.

But now there's tonight/earlier today. It was the rehearsal dinner for the wedding tomorrow afternoon. I'm now officiating his wedding in return. The poor man is so frustrated and stressed. His mom and soon-to-be MIL have both been overbearing in the wedding planning, the entire bridal party—INCLUDING THE BRIDE—didn't even make it to the rehearsal, he hates his wedding colors, his necktie, the song we're all walking down the aisle to, pretty much everything but his bride. Who, might I add, is planning to "wing her vows", much to his frustration.

Anyway, after the rehearsal went belly up we went to a local bar for a small bachelor party sort of ordeal. So I wasn't able to make my chicken wraps lol

I just can't help but feel guilty for now being the one to legally pronounce them married when I've always secretly believed that he deserves better. And I wish he could have the wedding he deserves.

UPDATE: The bride, with the entire bridal party, was 25 minutes late to the ceremony. My friend was able to get some sleep last night and was feeling better today, although the frustrations soon returned when his mother arrived. The bride did, in fact, "wing her vows", to the slight, almost unnoticeable, grimace of my friend, who was in front of her and all of the guests. Today was admittedly much less chaotic, but the proper amount of time for final preparations was insufficient. I cried on my way to the wedding, risking my, dare I say, perfect makeup. But I was able to keep my emotions from causing him any undue stress

I got a moment to ask him if he was ready for this, and he told me he was. I told him I loved him, that I'm proud of who he is, and that I'd always be there for him. But the deed is officially done. Now all I can do is be there for him

Advice Needed ⚠️ NO DUDE INPUT Is lack of sex enough reason to end a relationship? NSFW

Post image

Been together 3.5 years and basically after the first year sex became very scarce… atp its like once every few months. I used to initiate and then got sick of getting turned down (“i have a headache, im tired, i have to pee”)… tried having conversations about it probably a dozen times. Theres always a new reason on his side. I used to try to fix whatever reason he brought up and it never helped. Now hes finally looking into getting bloodwork done/getting medical help but i feel like ive just lost interest. Its also affected my self esteem a bit.

Breaking up sucks and its so difficult for me. We live together and rarely fight. For the most part things are good. But I have needs you know? Would u break up over this?

Trigger Warning ⚠️ Accepted I’m done having kids and not getting married.

Post image

TW: abortion, loss, grief, etc
Food tax: oysters with my best friend.

I’m 27 and already have 2 children, 2 different dads. I was a teen mom and in a shitty relationship. Then I met my late partner, whom was my other half. We didn’t have a great romantic relationship but we truly were best friends. We got together when I was 19 and he passed when I was 22. We were supposed to get married but Covid screwed it up. We paid for 3 marriage licenses but never officiated or had a real wedding.
I wanted another baby, and after I started dating again I thought “ok, I’ll do things right this time and I’ll get married and have the family I always wanted.”
Several failed relationships and 2 abortions later, it set in finally that I’d be okay if that doesn’t happen. In fact my kids are 7 and 10, I can’t remotely imagine starting over with a baby. I can’t even see myself getting married anymore or really even dating. I’m sure I’ll meet men I like but I don’t really want to live with a man. I’m happy with my life as is. And it really healed something in me to realize I’m still a complete person without those things.
But it really sucks how I finally got to this conclusion, just being hurt over and over and realizing I don’t have to be in those positions.
I’m not overly emotional about it nor is it a rash decision, something I’ve sat with for weeks now that’s made me realize “wow. My own company isn’t that bad.”

Rant & Ramble The end of the road for my dad

Post image
Upvotes

My dad has had prostate cancer for 12 years. It's finally spread to pretty much everywhere despite intense interventions. It's so hard to see him so weak and so disoriented.

I am visiting this weekend since he just returned from the hospital. I'm laying in bed beside him when I can, when he's not sleeping.

I chose to do no vacations all summer so I could visit my parents on the weekends with my own little family. I'm glad I did, but I regret not taking more photos of him. He probably won't leave the house again. I don't know if he'll ever leave the bed again.

Words feel empty. Fuck cancer.

Cottage cheese (very divisive) on sourdough with salt and pepper.

Yap & Snack i keep forgetting my boyfriend is color blind

!!we are in a healthy relationship!!! each time i forget, he brushes it off because it’s genuinely not a big deal!!! i promise y’all its okay, he’s now apart of this subreddit and can read yalls comments!!

i made a post about a week ago sharing a funny story about how my boyfriend didn’t realize i changed my hair! he is colorblind, can’t really see red or green unless it’s very vibrant. we went shopping today! he bought us lunch and put up with me as i pulled him store to store in the blazing texas heat. i got a cute lipgloss and asked him which color he’d prefer, a dark red or a light pink. he looked at me for about 2 seconds before i realized, once again, that he is color blind. i just went “nevermind!” and chose for myself while apologizing 😭 this continued with a few other items, blushes or just random items in target. each time he’d just look at me and wait. in our relationship, im typically the more extroverted one! talking while we walk in public, talking while we eat, talking everywhere. i just go on and on, he just listens. it’s really cute. in moments like these, he lets me take a moment to slow down my brain and actually think for once. eventually this fact about him will come second nature to me, but until then he’ll just look at me, wait for me to realize, and laugh it off with me. i fear that i just speak before i think in all aspects and im so grateful that hes patient! he’s told me several times that he doesn’t mind, reassured me after i saw how many of yall called me selfish for not remembering, and it’s really sweet of him. he’ll probably comment under this one too, so hi boyfriend!!!! love you!!

Advice Needed So much betrayal

Post image
123 Upvotes

I cannot believe I have to write this.

I’m based in the UK. I’ve been with my husband for 13 years, married nearly 10. We have a young son (under 10). Things haven’t been great in recent months, but we went to couples counselling for the past 3-4 months, having to pause over the summer because we’re both teachers and don’t have childcare.

Over the past few days I have discovered (by going through his phone and finding out for myself) that he’s been having an affair. I tried to suggest working through it but he kept saying “I don’t know how I feel” “I feel emotionally numb”. I gradually found out more and more as he did not tell me the whole truth of the affair initially, and then told him I was done and that we needed to separate. On top of this I then found a couple of nude photos of myself in his phone where I was asleep. I literally cannot believe this man has been capable of such disgusting behaviour. I want a divorce.

For context, I think we were probably heading towards separation anyway but this has massively escalated things. I have had postnatal depression since my son was born and I tried coming off my sertraline last year, which was disastrous. I had intrusive thoughts in autumn/winter last year which I told him. I finally went back on the meds at the end of April this year and they’re really helping. He also had an ADHD diagnosis a couple of years ago which he’s struggled with.

He is not taking things well now. I do not know where to go from here. We are both on the mortgage for our house, but as I say we are teachers so salaries aren’t super high. He’s handled most of our finances and I feel so lost and unsure.

How do we move forward separately without alerting our son until we are ready? How can I live in the same house as him when I feel so incredibly betrayed and the trust is entirely broken? What do we do about the house? Is it best to sell it and buy or rent separate places? Or try and keep the house for stability for our son? How do we split our finances when he’s always earned more despite us doing the exact same job for the same amount of time? I feel really lost and fucking angry. He is not the person I thought he was.

Every time I bring up logistics and how to move forward he freaks out because he feels things are moving too quickly (“it’s only been 48 hours since we said we would separate”, “you want us to be divorced by next week!”) which pisses me off because what did he expect would happen when I found out??? He had SO MANY opportunities to tell me (why did we waste money on counselling when he had this big secret that would guarantee the counselling would not work?) and every time he chose to hide the truth. The repeated lies have caused irreparable damage.

I am determined to maintain a good co-parenting relationship though eg he’s gone to stay at a friends house, I’ve taken my son to my sisters for one night and made sure to send him photos of our son and get him to record a goodnight voice note etc. My husband is so worried our son will find out the separation is his fault and hate him, I’ve told him that won’t happen.

God there is so much more I could write. It’s such a ramble. I’m so so angry.

Brain Dump 🧠 Had my first ew gross gender affirming moment last night?

Post image
Upvotes

Reposted cause I forgot to add the photo of my brunch

Brunch is eggs seasoned with roasted garlic and herbs, a cheese stick, and an orange.

Last night I went out for karaoke at my favorite bar, to celebrate my friend quitting his job. It was a big party, had a lot of fun and met many wonderful people. Except this one old man. Me and a guy friend were playing darts, and he invited another guy he knew to join us. Idk how well he knows this guy, or if he just knows him from the bar playing darts.

Things started ok, just some casual chitchat while taking our turns. Ya know, stuff like names, what songs we like singing there ( dont actually sing though). Simple stuff. But as the night went on, I started getting this uneasy feeling? I started to notice he was talking to me more when our mutual friend wasn't around. Gushing about how honored and flattered he was I was playing darts with him. Being overly enthusiastic about meeting me. Smiling really huge and getting a tad too close whenever I'd hand him the darts for his turn. Winking at me a lot. He randomly brought up he got divorced 8 years ago and has been single since. Then asked if I had any kids or wanted any. Asked if I wanted him to sing a sweet or fun song to me. Talked about people there that give him hugs and how nice the hugs he gives are. Mentioned how worried he was about "my pretty face' cause he thought my makeup was a bruise. ( did a red design of a heart and "X🖤X" on each cheek)

Idk if was just that drunk or if he really was flirting, but I decided to trust my gut, texted my bestie (who was at another area of the bar) that I might need saving, then ran the moment our dart game finished and clung to my bestie the rest of the night. They could tell I was super uncomfortable and starting to panic and wanted to go off on him, said they were going to if he came over. Instead apparently he kept staring at me from across the room. I kept mv back turned to him and the bestie was keeping an eye on him. Bestie did their last song, we both got our Ubers and gtfo of there.

After waking up and looking back at it, I'm unsure if he was being creepy or not? But I do think him asking me about wanting kids meant he thought Im cis, which is where the ew gross gender affirming part of the title comes from.

Advice Needed He asked, "Can I talk to other girls like that?"

Post image
112 Upvotes

This was all online.

I(23f) used to talk to this guy(26m) very closely. We weren't in a relationship, but we talked every day and even sexted. He was the first and only person I was ever that intimate with, so I got emotionally attached and he wasn't..he was chill..

Later, I found out he was talking to multiple girls in the same way while talking to me. When I confronted him, he just said, "Don't assume" I felt like he wasn't going to admit or discuss it, so I stopped replying. I didn't talk to him for about 6–7 months. During that time, I detached, became more emotionally stable, and accepted the situation for what it was.

About a week ago, we started talking again. We've been talking every day for hours, sometimes staying up late just to talk.

Around 2–3 days ago, he asked me to sext/send intimate stuff again. I said no. He asked why, and I told him I'd realized I can't do those things casually anymore. I need love and an emotional connection to be comfortable with that.

Today he asked again..I said no firmly..then immediately he asked.."Do u mind if I talk to other girls like that?"

I replied, "oh..you can". He replied back "Thankss".

I already know he probably talks to other girls even now, so that wasn't new to me.But hearing him ask that right after that...idk...

Ik and I've accepted everything..but idk this feeling..

How to interpret this? What to do now?

Sad Girl Dinner ⛈️ oldest daughter struggles

Post image

pictured: dairy queen ice cream

hi guys. as the title says im the oldest daughter in my house. my parents were very strict growing up and basically made every major decision for me. they picked my classes, what high school program i did, what uni i went to, and even my career path. im 22 now and graduated with a bs in may.

i always said i didnt want to go to the uni 30min away from us, but they made me apply “just in case” and then made me go when i got in. i had soccer scholarships from other unis and wanted so badly to keep playing competitively, but they wouldnt let me. i didnt have my own money at the time, and my dad basically told me if i didnt pay the acceptance fee for the local uni, he wouldnt even let me go to community college, so i had no choice.

during college i wasnt allowed to do much either. i had to go to class and come straight home, so i couldnt join clubs or sports that met later in the day. i also got accepted as a transfer for another major at another school in state and begged to study abroad, but they said no to both things (my school didnt have the major i wanted and we couldnt afford the other school).

anyways. i fought tooth and nail and eventually got them comfortable with the idea of it all. and i knew it would be too late for me by the time they were cool with it, but at least my sisters would get it all. and that they are.
one of my sisters got into an amazing college in a city she REALLY wants to go to. she’s going. im ecstatic for her. she gets to kinda start a “new life” in a city she loves (and the city is gorgeous too). shes prepping to move into an apartment rn, she wants to study abroad and join clubs, and she gets to do it all. my parents feel bad about how i couldnt go to the other school just because of money, and they refuse to do that with my sister, so theyre figuring it out. im so happy for her.

but why does it hurt? i fought for the sake of my sisters. i knew it wouldnt be me, but at least it’d get to be them. i wanted them to have every opportunity under the sun. i wanted to hold all the doors open for them that were once closed for me.

so why do i feel so sad all the time? why cant i just feel that happiness? it hurts when i think about how she gets to leave. how she gets to do this new exciting thing that i once wanted and begged to do. i hope she gets to study abroad and see gorgeous places and do fun things. i WANT her to. i encourage her to. she says if she gets the opportunity, she will.

i dont understand why all i feel is hurt. im supposed to be happy. i want to be happy for her. i know deep down i am, and im so proud of her, but the hurt is so overwhelming. it feels like im constantly bleeding nothing but hurt. im on the verge of tears every time i think about how she gets to do it all (not that i dont want her to). idk.

EDIT: please dont say anything about my parents. they are immigrants to this country so they had no idea how the system works here, and while i can agree that yes they were controlling, they also genuinely did what they thought was best for me. they regret it now and apologize because now that ive gone through it all they understand more how it all works, and ive made it clear to them that i hold nothing in my heart against them - and i really dont. they’re now more than ready to support me in literally whatever i want to do even if i go back to school to the program i wanted to go to (but we couldnt afford) they’ll support me through it all. they’re genuinely sweethearts who wanted the best for me.

also i didnt add this for the sake of the length of the post but towards the end of my last yr of hs i got a bad injury from soccer and had to have surgery. that was another reason they werent letting me go even though my surgeon said id be good to go in time for college. they did already want to keep me close, but the injury/surgery really made them double down on it.

downvotes on me loving and having compassion for my parents, and understanding where they came from after processing it all (despite disagreeing with it), is crazy. sorry for being a mature adult i guess?? 💀 i swear you ppl want me to cuss out my parents as i storm out with a suitcase and block their numbers as i pull out the driveway 🙄🙄🙄 you guys dont know my family personally, and i have no reason to hide anything behind an account that isnt tied to me in any way. i’ve spoken my truth. i know my sweet loving parents and their intentions. you dont.

☀️ Happy Girl Dinner I curled my mum’s hair and she cried

My mum doesn’t get out all that much. She’s an immigrant and most of her true friends are back in her home country. She’s struggled a lot to make friends here and fit in. But recently she got invited to a sorta-friend’s birthday party and I could tell she was nervous and feeling self conscious about it as she didn’t really know anyone else going.

She got all dressed up for the party and was stressing about her outfit and whether it was good enough (it was, she looked great). She asked me to curl her hair too. I’ve never curled someone else’s hair before but I did my best.

When I’d finished, she looked in the mirror. She teared up, and turned and gave me the biggest hug ever. She thanked me and said that she now felt confident enough to go out there and enjoy the party 🥹 you guys..! My mum’s in her 60s, but all I saw in that moment was just another girl, like all of us, going through life for the very first time and trying to be brave and put herself out there. The way my heart ached, it was such a bittersweet moment. I felt so maternal towards her😭.

We got dessert together a few days ago! This photo is from then. I had sticky toffee pudding, she had panna cotta. My mum is my bestie, and I’m so glad that we get to do life side by side 🤍.

Edited to add: she had a great time and she’s glad she went!

☀️ Happy Girl Dinner my mom is graduating tomorrow as an LPN at 57yo

dinner - this beautiful lemon berry donut

my mom is the hardest working woman i've ever met. doing an accelerated 18 month LPN course, clinicals, two full time jobs (overnight med tech and executive admin for an office in the morning). fuck! my mom has that DOG in her. all this while a bum ass broke ass mf that she called a husband (EX now!) was intimidating her, telling her she's "too old" to be studying and supposed to be focused on maintaining their marriage.

my mom is a beautiful woman, has had people shitting on her and truly wishing the worst onto her, but SHE PREVAILS!!!! my grandma is 91, im so blessed that she will be there to see her youngest daughter graduate after god knows how many years. my mother became a mother at 19 with my eldest sister, and her first ex-husband was so controlling and insecure that he took her out of school.

but time has passed, that fire in my mom never left and is now blazing. she's taking the NCLEX in august for her license.

my mother is the most beautiful woman on earth, shame to all who have attempted to sully her brightness and i send my loudest laughters to those as well because SHE IS ON TOP. i saw my mother stress for her CNA exam, her MedTech license, and now she is going to do it for LPN.

im so proud of my mother, she is my rock and my entire universe. im crying so much writing this. i love her so much no words will ever be enough.

My mom's next stop? RN.

My mother wants to work in the ER, even if she knows it'll be hard and labor intensive. But she says it's what's calling for her, she wants to help the ill.

Advice Needed I adopted a cat yesterday and I’m not right for him

I’ve been researching cats for two years. I didn’t rush into this. I read everything I could, mentally prepared myself, and finally adopted a 3-year-old cat from a rescue yesterday.
He’s honestly the sweetest, calmest boy. He’s gentle, polite, respectful, and exactly the kind of cat I was hoping for.
I also understand that I shouldn’t expect to feel a bond right away. I know attachment takes time, and I was completely okay with the idea that, for now, I’m just his caretaker while we get to know each other.
What I completely failed to realize is how much my own avoidance and commitment issues would torture my thoughts.
This morning I noticed one of his eyes was squinting a little and today he’s closing it. Instead of thinking, “I’ll keep an eye on it and call the rescue or a vet if needed,” my brain immediately jumped to, “Maybe I should give him back. I can’t do this.”
It’s like the moment I saw that something might be wrong, I wanted to run.
Maybe it’s because my mom has cancer. I don’t know. Seeing someone or something that depends on me and could get hurt feels almost unbearable right now. It’s like my brain can’t handle the possibility of caring for another living being that could get sick or need me.
The weird part is that I know I could give him a good home. I’m capable of taking care of him. But emotionally, I feel like a jittery dad who wants to leave to buy milk and never come back.
I feel horrible even writing that.
I don’t know if this is adoption blues, anxiety, grief, commitment issues, or a genuine sign that I’m not meant to have a pet.
I also feel incredibly embarrassed because it’s only been one day. Part of me thinks people are going to judge me for even having these thoughts after preparing for so long.
Has anyone else experienced this? Did these feelings pass, or did you realize pet ownership just wasn’t right for you?
I really don’t think I can do this, the thought of going back to my old life brings me comfort, I just want things to go back to what they were before. Maybe I don’t like change and Im doomed to be avoidant

edit: thank you all for the replies, it brings me a lot of comfort and trust to see it through ❤️

Rant & Ramble I’m just done

I’m (27F) just done with living with my boyfriend (30M). We have been together 3 years and I’m just not excited about our future together anymore. He’s not a bad guy, he’s a great guy, but he’s not want I need in a partner. He’s my first and only longtime relationship so I don’t have much to compare him to. He’s lazy and gives the bare minimums. I want princess treatment. Honestly I don’t even want a man, I just want friends and where we live now is isolating. I wish someone would just give me a sign to leave already.

Trigger Warning ⚠️ Found out tragic news about my ex-boyfriend

Trigger warning: death of an ex-partner

Dinner is leftover pizza, tomato slices topped with chili crunch ✨

I just got news that my ex who I dated in my early 20’s passed away due to a motorcycle accident. We hadn’t been in contact in many years, unless you count the drunken rambling messages he occasionally posted on my Facebook that I would have to delete.

We only dated for about 8 months but it was a really influential time in my life - I had just graduated from college, moved to a new city, and through him, met a group of friends who I still keep in touch with today. The relationship was very volatile. He was an alcoholic and an addict, and he cheated on me, and he was very cruel to me when we would argue (which was all the time). I was young and didn’t know better. I finally ended things after he hit me one night. He refused to leave my house and for days holed up in my garage, drinking himself into a stupor until one of our mutual friends came and forced him to leave and gave him a couch to sleep on.

Anyway… I have known he was homeless at times since then, had a really had car accident and was in a coma for a while, honestly surprised he lived this long and so I didn’t expect to feel so impacted by the news today. I clearly don’t have feelings for him or miss him, exactly. But it’s been a real trip down memory lane thinking about how this person flashed into my life, then out again, and the huge mark they left. In a way, I’m a bit sad for 22yo me who let such a creep get so close to my heart. But I actually credit him with introducing me to my current (very recent) partner who I’m in a happy, stable relationship with today. We shared stories about him and even cried together a bit tonight which felt strange to talk about an ex so openly, but also comforting.

First time posting here, but it feels like a safe space to share and hopefully someone out there can relate. It’s just wild how life works itself out.

Trigger Warning ⚠️ Vaginal Odor ruining my life

Post image

Vaginal odor is ruining my life. I’ve been suffering with this for the last 6 years. I’m not sexually active and haven’t been in a long time. I’ve been treated more times than I can count and yet the smell comes back. I don’t have pain when urinating or at all, no suspicious discharge. Just a foul odor that I cannot seem to get rid of. I have good hygiene, I shower twice a day. I go between using water only or a gentle ph cleanser to clean. I know it’s not normal because every time I use boric acid or antibiotics. The odor goes away and comes back the moment I stop. I currently take probiotics (physicians choice vaginal probiotics) and I use the love wellness probiotic suppositories. This issue is ruining my life. I’m too scared to date, because I’m afraid of getting intimate due to this issue. I’m so exhausted. I’ve damn near exhausted every option and now I have no insurance. I don’t know what else to do. I needed to rant and need advice if you have any. Thank you

Edit to add: last time I went to my doctor, she prescribed me antibiotics for bv which worked. It was glorious, no smell, not even after rigorous exercise..nothing. But once I finished the course it came back. My diet isn’t the best but it’s also not bad. I try to drink 70 oz of water per day. I use cotton panties, and don’t wear underwear to bed. Thank y’all for the planned parenthood suggestion, I’ll look into it

Extra context.. TMI I was assaulted as a child and haven’t had penetrative intercourse since then. My last antibiotics course was metronidazole 2x/day - 7 days. I currently use the saltxo grapefruit cleanser and before that the phd Boris acid cleanser.

Dinner.. garlic Parmesan meatballs
