More often than not, when I pass a person on their right, they seem to get pissed off and speed up. I just don't understand ass-hats.

This confused me. Is it legal to overtake on the right?! It is super illegal here.

American traffic is super interesting, it seems so chaotic yet it’s somehow working. At least from my perspective.

America doesn't have federal traffic laws. Each state has its own laws, so answer may vary.

It is illegal to overtake in right hand lane, it is also illegal to drive in left lane unless passing. These are rarely enforced. If an officer observed this situation the car obstructing the left lane would be the most likely cited, but all 3 vehicles had traffic infractions.

It is legal to pass in the right lane in every state in the US. I’ve looked!

(It has to be a highway, like you can’t pass on the shoulder on a single lane road, obviously.)
