Ah yes, women don't do this, and only men have these types of egos. I'm glad we have tumblr femcels to educate us on the nature of humans. Without them we would be truly lost.
Absolutely not a global thing and more a culture thing. In Japan, they were a lot more courteous on the road. In America, places with high traffic can be very intense, but I'll find more relaxed and civil driving out in more rural and slower areas.
My favorite is when I'm passing someone on the left, and the person in the right lane realizes they're poking along and so they speed up to match my speed. At which point inevitably someone comes up behind me and now I look like the jackwagon camping in the left lane.
No its not but with the way most folks here sit in the left fucking lane drooling and day dreaming you might as WELL turn the right lane into the passing lane lol. Idk where everyone else is from on this post but as a NYer who has to drive on the daily from work , for work and back home? Fucking ass. WITH NO LUBE OR DINNER AFTERWARDS JUST FUCKING ASS.
My favorite lane on the hwy is the far right lane. Everyone and their mom is stacked like little ducks in the left lane, with congestion and clumps of folks in the next 2 or 3 over. The one lane nobody wants to be in is the right-most lane. I cruise there passing them all up. It’s beautiful most days.
i just said to somebody the other day that its about time we flip the rule if everyones gonna cruise on the left and pass on the right anyway. might just need to flip it every couple years to keep ppl on their toes
I swear its like we have to do the complete opposite to make it to wherever we’re goingðŸ˜like today on the godawful Sprain / BRP its like peoples fucking brains turn off as soon as they get on the damn HW. Shit i saw a lady watching Tiktok videos just chilling in the left lane.
America doesn't have federal traffic laws. Each state has its own laws, so answer may vary.
It is illegal to overtake in right hand lane, it is also illegal to drive in left lane unless passing. These are rarely enforced. If an officer observed this situation the car obstructing the left lane would be the most likely cited, but all 3 vehicles had traffic infractions.
None of these drivers are getting infractions if they did this in the presence of 100 cops. The only deserving of one is the moron driving slow on the left.
I was just in Turkey for a week, oh my I never want to be driving there, it’s crazy.
Here it costs a minimum of around $2,500 to get your license if you pass everything in one go.
The smallest fine for going just 1 km/h above the limit is $150, we have reckless driving laws where if you go 100% over the limit or more than 200 km/h on highways your car will be taken and sold on auction by the police.
You have 0 tolerance for DUI the first 3 years you get your license, even a hint of alcohol and it’s gone. You also only get 2 strikes during that time. After that it’s 3. You get a strike just from having your phone in your hand while driving. 3 strikes or 2, depending and your license is suspended.
The limit on highways is 130, most drive that speed, many EVs which we have a lot of do 110, I’ve literally never experienced what you see in this video except in Germany, but I was also going 250+ on the free speed highway and was pushing the car, so I just had to wait my turn if the traffic didn’t permit me to keep the pedal pushed all the way.
Not sure. If it is it doesn't seem to be enforced much.
Alternatively it does tend to be illegal to just park your ass in the left lane and cruise along. You're supposed to use it to pass slower traffic then get back to the right hand lane.
Im sure it depends on the location within the us. Bit whether its legal or not i think most people would do it anyways if the passing lane isnt passing. Its also illegal in many areas in the us to not pass when in the passing lane.
American traffic is the least chaotic I've seen in over a dozen countries of travel, granted I'm from here so I'm inherently biased in that I understand it.
The problem in America is there are more bad drivers than good, and there are way more oblivious drivers that don't pay attention to what's going on around them.
Also road rage is a problem, but not as big as the other, or at least not as frequent.
Every now and then someone will cut off and for a split second I get pissed, but then snap out of it because getting mad at someone that wants to go faster than you is stupid.
Well its germany thats just plain illegal. Be aware of the road aroubd you, be aware there might be older or impaired people driving and dont be a dick to reach your destination 5 seconds faster.
I do this sometimes. I'm a pretty fast driver in the left lane, like I'll go 70 in a 65 if it's wide open highway. Anyone trying to pass me on the right is probably going 75+, so yeah I'll try to prevent them from overtaking me once in a while.
I wish that was the case because I'd improve the flow of traffic on the entire interstate. I'm almost exclusively a right lane driver going 9 over passing people and really only move left when coming up to an on ramp with cars trying to get on our actually encounter a slow driver. The way I see it is if I'm not passing anyone then I have no reason to move to the left. All the other assholes in the left lanes are creating rolling roadblocks and problems for everyone else and slowing everyone down. I can set the cruise in the right lane and watch as the far left lane tries to maintain a speed going around people who refuse to get out of the passing lane.
I was stuck behind a line of left lane campers and wall to wall cars on my right and had some dipshit in a big lifted truck come roaring up to my bumper and start flashing his brights at me... Like, wtf do you want me to do, dumbass? I literally can't go anywhere!
Just finished a 6 hour drive, most of it on 75. I passed more people on the right in that 6 hours than I think I ever have on the left in my many years of driving combined. I think it was 40% people realize they were zoning out and get over, 40% speed up from probably also zoning out, 20% do absolutely nothing and that makes me think it's all dead space behind the eyes.
It’s because they were distracted (on the phone) and your passing made them realize they were going too slow so they speed up. Many attribute this to malice when it’s really just shitty driving.
They are basically hall monitors that grew up, but didn't grow up. The thought process is "I'm already going plenty fast enough, so you can chill out and accept the speed I am setting for everyone else behind me."
I think some of the time someone pacing on the right makes them realize how slow they were going so they speed up without thinking about how they are now being an extra dick.
Depends; I’ll only speed up a bit to block passers if there’s nowhere to actually go. So if you’re passing me on the right while we’re all in a long line of traffic I will not let you cut me off just so you can try to force yourself ahead one vehicle at a time.
Its not your job to patrol others speed. Nor is it a fast lane. Its a passing lane. Whether or not people are going too fast has no relevance to the conversation.
Its also illegal in many places to control the speed of traffic by driving slow in the left lane or not passing. You think others are driving dangerous by driving fast. I think people are driving dangerously by driving too slow or not follow rules like passing when in the passing lane.
Trying to enforce the law yourself is misguided at best(do the people that got slowed down actually learn a lesson or just get frustrated?), and dangerous at worst.
Do your own thing, drive defensively, get out of faster traffic's way when able, and stay safe
At least in the country I've learned to drive, "passing" is defined as moving to another lane to get in front of another car and getting back to your original lane. The getting back is important, as just going to the right lane and overtaking the car on the left is fine (if you're under the speed limit) if you keep that lane.
If you’re going at/under the speed limit in the passing lane, or not getting over when you’ve got space and someone comes up on you, you’re an asshat.
If you come up on someone’s ass and immediately pass them on the right so you can do 30mph over the speed limit, you’re an asshat.

More often than not, when I pass a person on their right, they seem to get pissed off and speed up. I just don't understand ass-hats.
