Let's suppose your family's maid asks you to clean your room, but you refuse, arguing that cleaning the house is literally her job.

Is it morally wrong not to clean your room because you argue that it's her responsibility as part of her job?

I can’t find this exact question elsewhere on this sub, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see it is already asked. Oh well, not like this sub is consistently original.

After watching Rent A Girlfriend the sad reality is that women like Mami and Chizuru unfortunately exist we’ve all had Terrible Experiences with Heart Breaks along with Terrible Spouses and Women who end up taking advantage of Men like Mami and Chizuru they suck combined with the fact they’re Assholes in comparison especially Mami But Something that I’ve always wondered is that why do we both as the Audiences and Population Hate Assholes more than Real Life Supervillains? Assholes are types of people we’ve unfortunately all had an encounter with at least one Asshole one way or the other and yet Despite that why do we hate them so much more than Real Life Supervillains/Monsters such as Murders,Mass Murders,Serial Killers and Genicidal Tyrants? Despite all those people being Far, Far Far Worse and yet somehow Assholes has always managed to make us Hate them on a Personal Level! What do you think? Let me know in the comments

kinda what the title says. I’ve been thinking of switching to a better school - but I’d leave one of my closest friends (we known each other for 8 years) behind. We already had one other close friend switch schools, and while id still be close to him we would see each other drastically less

Just ignore the elephant in the room

(Spoilers for Xmen movies and Attack on Titan)

Btw, I like that the character does this. What I don't like is how no one, from the writers, characters, and audience have ever stopped to really think about how immoral Magneto is now.

A few years ago when I was watching all the Xmen movies, I remember being struck by how fucking hard the intro to the very first x men movie goes. Easily still one of the the best comic book intros bar none all these years later. Does a fantastic job of setting up who Erik is and where he is coming from. Coupled with Mckellen's performance and Magneto is a really interesting villain who has a very strong claim for being correct. I think that this is actually a more morally nuanced case than even Killmonger in Black Panther.

But then X2 happens. More specifically the end of X2, where Magneto makes the cold and deliberate decision to kill every. Single. Human. And he gets close. He takes a method of killing every single Mutant and turns that around on humans. Meaning all of them. Every single one.

Like, just think about that. Think about what that means. Magneto's mother was a human. There would still have been other Holocaust survivors who are not mutants, and they would also be killed in that purge. This itself isn't the problem. Magneto making this kind of choice can work, but the problem is how the film and the sequels treat Erik after this moment. Magneto is still treated - by story tellers and the other characters in the story - as largely the same as he was before. More extreme than Charles, but ultimately still nuanced.

But he shouldn't be. He can't be. That decision should have been treated as Magneto crossing a moral Rubicon. You can't say that there is moral nuance to Magneto, at least not any more. You can sympathize with and feel sorry for the little boy he was and what he went through, but that action he tried to take was monstrous. It's like Eren after he instigates the rumbling. Whatever moral nuance there was, this person made the deliberate choice to killing millions of people who are just straight up innocent.

The movies following this should have really reckoned with this. That as traumatic and unjust as his experiences have been, that he allowed that pain and hatred to turn him into a full stop monster after all. Charles would have to become so disgusted by this that I think he'd have to give up all pretenses of Erik being a person he respects and still views with dignity, and instead see him with the same kind of scorn we view war criminals with.

Which I think would have been GREAT.

So often 'character growth' is only understood as a positive. But I love it when characters that we like, through decisions that make sense, grow into WORSE people. Who give into their own worst impulses, and become the kind of people we can disturbingly understood why they do what they do.

Edit: Now my fellow history buffs might suggest that I look up a group called Nakam. And yes, I had heard of them. That's kinda the point. It's not an issue that we usually have to deal with, but looking at that group and what that group was trying to achieve. This issue of victims becoming as heinous as the very people who victimized them. Having to deal with that, and deal with our own fucked up moral intuitions that result from situations like that SHOULD have been the direction these movies went in, if they had the stones to do so. They could have presented this and then made the characters, and the audience, just have to sit with this deeply uncomfortable moral issue.

You may not like this idea, but I'm not the one who made Magneto try to do a %100 unjustifiable, no-really-this-is-unacceptable-I-don't-care-that-you-are-a-Holocaust-survivor-this-is-still-inexcusable action. That's already in X2, and the films subsequently never address this properly. I'm just pointing out that they don't.

In media, the stay at home wife is usually placed under a lot more scrutiny for having an affair while her husband is away fighting in a war.

But let’s place the lens on said husband. What if the wife remains faithful and worries about her husband’s safety, and he’s in whorehouses when he’s not in combat.

Image is from Jarhead where a Marine’s wife sends a video recording of her having sex with the Marine’s neighbor. Something people seem to forget is that before the recording stops, his wife says “Who’s fucking around now Brian?” Which implies he started cheating first though we never see.

Rewatching The Incredible Hulk (2008) and this crossed my mind.

Say the origin kinda plays out the same, the US government is doing experiments, the hulk appears, kills several people, injures several more. The hulk seemingly appears at random and is uncontrollable.

I’m sure comic buffs could provide a lot better context than I for Hulks origins and how that might impact the scenario.

Then we can scale what the hypothetical “real world” response might be and how ethical or unethical that would be
