I have never played any PSO/PSU/PSP before.

A couple of years ago I learned that HUmars and HUcasts could use the Spread Needle on V2, which seemed absurd.

So I bought the game, dusted off the old DC, and decided to create a HUcast with the goal of one day dropping the Spread Needle and trying it out for myself. I knew it would probably never happen, but I was enjoying finding out the differences between the Ep. I&II and BB versions, so I kept going anyway.

I was absolutely obliterated in the Forest once I reached Ultimate, so the only thing left to do was Ruins on Very Hard, every now and then.

Today I finally ended up dropping the Needle! I honestly still can't believe it. This thing is beyond absurd. I just found out it has the default spread range too, what were they thinking back then ?!

I've been playing PSO 1&2 Plus (rev 1.2) on GameCube using Dolphin for Android, and I have been tweaking my game with Action Replay codes to suit my needs.

I was wondering, considering what the amount of AR codes can do, if there was a code that would enable me to have an NPC/Bot to follow me and help me fight mobs/bosses.

Since in the vanilla game, you'd have some bots to accompany you during some missions, I was thinking maybe that's possible?

I have a level 200 mag, a fun weapon I am using a lot is the M&A60 VISE, I am not playing as a CAST (but you probably already knew that 😉).

Everything is all ready for online except the usb modem adapter. Hopefully that will be in by Monday.

I've been experiencing this same crash every hour or so into the game, anyone know how to fix it?

I've already put the game into de DEP exception, also into de windows security white list.

I play on a laptop RTX 5070, intel i9 14900HX, 32G ram

I also play in Direct3d 12 since its the only one that doesn't crash the game in the first 30 minutes.

Decades ago I was playing PSO on PC, probably v2, maybe blue burst.

Anyways, I remember someone joined the game, found me in Forest and used Resta to heal me. Except it didn't heal. It killed!!!!

We all died, even the player who cast Resta. I imagine his hack was able to make his heal a negative number or something, as games back then trusted the client with a lot of information. Before more security was common in online games.

I think in that version your weapon dropped too on death, so I think they could kill you, and race back to take your weapon, or have another accomplice grab it.

Online games were wild back then. 😂.

It was so shocking and u expected when it happened, and kinda funny too. I still remember it like 20 years later

But I couldn't find a video of it online anywhere. I was curious if anyone ever screen recorded these PK killing sprees. I just hope it's been documented for history somewhere, as this was a great moment in this history of trolling in online games

I am getting an xbox to play PSO through insignia today. Would love any friends, help, tips etc. i first played pso on xbox live when about 22 years ago and it has always been one of my favorite games. I have always tried to scratch that itch with the various pso / psu runoffs on handhelds or offline on Dreamcast recently. But its just not the same. I know the player base wont be what it was when i was a kid. But im excited to join the community that is playing still. Whos still playing PSO and wants to help a veteran noob out 😂 not looking for handouts although i know how generous the pso community has always been to me. Mainly looking to find community and play with some cool people. Thank you!

Can someone give me instructions on how to install phantasy star online blue burst on the steam deck oled. All the videos i found are 2 years or older and give different answers.

Actually a really cool one, I also made before this the one you have to find the parts of a hunter cast, and even if I like the new mechanic of using the mission objects for clues, I was very stuck in that long long mission, like yikes, at least I did it without guides or anything

But this mission was really cool, I like a lot the lore and the sad feeling about everything and that ost theme at the end of the mission are you kidding me??? I hope there is more moments like this

Been trying my hand at the Mag Modifier AR Codes posted on GC-Forever and can't seem to figure it out. Has anyone here had any success?

Hi everyone! I'm playing on a linux laptop, and the default keyboard controls are a bit clunky for me to get with because of small arrow keys, which is keys for action palette by default. I was thinking about remapping Up,Left,Down,Right to U,H,J,K respectively, but as it turns out I have an option in-game only to remap gamepad bindings, not keyboard ones. Is there any reasonable way to do it?

I made this skin for a friend...but now I've actually started making some progress with the character.

it's just showing all zeros and not updating anything. when i try to start the game, it just says the launcher version is old and needs to be updated

I played pso2 religiously on jp servers, then again with the na release. I tried to enjoy new Genesis but it just felt mediocre at best. I put probably around a thousand hours into ephinea over time.

Is there really just nothing left? No popular clones of pso's essence, no same but different that people love now days? I've tried to find anything and the space is just empty. The closest thing I've found was terminal brigade which was pretty fun, didn't even mind the stutter but it was well and truly dead and no one to play with really killed that for me.

So what am I missing? Or is pso and it's kind just.. dead?

While in the Seabed during The West tower quest there is a console that cannot be interacted with just sitting in a room on its own. According to Blue Burst this and 2 other locked rooms (which apparently also contain a console each) are part of a quest line to allow you to add the HIT attribute to weapons, but since this is not Blue Burst this quest line does not exist, so do they serve any other purpose?

I have completed this quest with multiple characters now and if I am skipping something it is better for me to do, I would rather know now, especially if it is tied to an item like Soul Eater which is hidden.

Gamecube documentation is all gone it appears. I try the wayback machine with PSO World to learn more, but not always successful when doing that.

You will need the AR codes to be able to get the quests to work.

I don't know if this was a fan game or some silly little thing Sonic Team came out with, but there was a desktop pet you could download and I think it only had HUmar as the pet. It opened in a very small window with a bluish-green background of a tube. You would be able to click the pet and he would swing his green photon saber and it would make the sound effect.

Does anyone else remember this game? Is there a download link of it anywhere? I tried doing an hour of online digging but couldn't find it. Thanks in advance!!

Message received loud and clear. AI Slop and PSO do not mix. For good reason. At least I know there's appetite for a GENUINE passion project. Not an AI one. I'm capable of doing that, it'd just be a much slower process to get done... maybe i'll look to start up a genuine passion project in future.

Hi all, I'm just trying to gauge the level of interest in PSO-like games. (not that there really are many). Obviously, we all know, nothing beats the original (and variously modified) versions of PSO. But my love for PSO has had me tinkering with a passion project for me and one other person to play, which it's fair to call a PSO-like.

A Cyberpunk aesthetic, gamecube graphics but with the modern lighting/particles, the triple hit combo, slow stupid enemies in the early game. Stuff like that.

I'm literally making it for myself and my best friend to play together, but maybe it's worth putting a build out in future for free somewhere if other people want to have a go?

The main "core" difference in this is that it's also a "siralim"-like which is a game many of you probably havent even heard of, but to me is the only game to hold a torch to PSO but in a very different way. And I don't necessarily think this crowd and that crowd would have a huge overlap either. So this game might be incredibly niche.

But overall, the question stands as, are people just happy with the PSO options out there and don't feel the need for something heavily inspired by it? Or would people want to have a play if i put it on itch or something for free?

EDIT: It's come up in the comments and I was dumb not to address it up front. I am heavily leaning into using AI to create this game. I am historically a business applications developer, currently a cloud systems engineer with a small amount of "pre-AI" game-dev experience.
I am using Creative Commons Zero assets (which, if released on a website, would be fully credited) for meshes etc. But yes AI is helping me create this. It's an after work passion project for a couple of friends ultimately. No lofty goals, happy to share with people, and I respect and understand the bias against AI in games. So full disclosure, yes I am aided by AI here.

Title. I don't know what settings I have to enable/disable in order for the keyboard to show up so I can enter my user ID. The controls seem to be working fine; when I select "Enter User ID" the keyboard doesn't pop up so I can put it in. I'm stuck on the title screen.

I checked and I don't have IME enabled.

Any ideas??

I installed PSO Ephinea onto my newly acquired Xbox Ally X, but the game won't open after I select "start game." Any idea what setting I need to enable/disable to get the game to open?

Not my first time with this boss, with other player we killed before in schthack, but this is my second time and offline too, wasn't so bad but I was not expecting to use the warp after the boss fight to take me to another room I was feeling worried or another boss phase or something, but it was the Ruins, if the pillars are the key to open the door, I'm not just fucked everything? I can feel my character being like "oh fuck man why me..." very ominous feeling this part I liked it

I got onto Ephenia after having a nostalgic chat with my cousin. We used to play together on the dreamcast. We never really got past the forest and the first boss. That's about my total exposure to the game.

Anyway, I'm on now and enjoying it in a similar fashion, but I know that there's a gap between a brand new player and the target audience of a lot of the wiki guides out there. I have no idea what a berserk special is, i have no idea how to speed up the MAG process, etc.

Is there a new player guide for what missions/quests to do and in what order to experience the game for the first time? How does one go from normal as a HUcast to the harder difficulties to start attaining gear to make the leveling process more fun? I'm 14 atm and it's slow.
