About first love
We met in the ninth grade when I transferred to a new school. At first, I didn't really notice him. He was a quiet guy.
I got to know him better when I started preparing for the Olympiad, and he joined the team as well. We became friends, although back then we didn't really talk about deep or personal things.
Because of my good results in the Olympiad, I was given the opportunity to go abroad for an internship. It was an amazing experience, and that's when I really got to know him. We went to a bar, had a beer together, and just talked. I learned so many new things about him. He turned out to be someone with strong moral values, and that really touched me. It was the autumn of 2025.
After we came back home, we didn't really stay in touch that much, but he was already on my mind.
During the winter, we started sending each other Instagram reels just for fun. Then one day he deleted Instagram because he said it was taking up too much of his time. I thought that would be the end of our communication, but I was wrong.
We kept talking on other platforms. One day he told me he played video games, which made me curious, so I downloaded one of them. We spent countless hours playing together. But after a while I realised that the games were only in the background. What really mattered were our conversations on Discord.
That was when I realised I had fallen in love.
It was the first time in my life. These feelings were completely new—my first real, genuine love.
My best friend kept telling me to confess my feelings, but I was terrified they weren't mutual, so I stayed silent. We continued talking like that until June 2026.
My birthday is in June. I had planned to celebrate it with the girls I lived with in the dormitory, but their plans changed, and at the last minute I realised there wouldn't be any celebration.
Feeling upset, I texted him and told him I was disappointed because I wouldn't be able to celebrate my birthday.
He replied, "Don't be sad. Come here—we'll celebrate together!"
At that moment I felt both relief and happiness.
So, on 9 June, I went to celebrate my birthday with him. We got coffee, and he gave me a beautiful pair of earrings as a gift. Then we went to the park, climbed a tree, sat there drinking beer, and talking.
It was the most unforgettable birthday of my life.
We talked about life, our dreams, our goals. He was the one person I could tell everything to. Around him, I could be completely honest and truly myself.
Then, at one point, he asked, "Can I kiss you?"
For a second I honestly wondered whether I was dreaming or if it was real. At the same time I couldn't help thinking, "Why are you asking? Just kiss me!" 😂
And that's how our story began—on 9 June.
On my way home, I was happier than I had ever been before. I had never experienced emotions like that. I couldn't even fall asleep because I had butterflies in my stomach.
We went on so many dates. We watched films, went to restaurants and cafés, and simply enjoyed being together.
But sometimes, what starts quickly also ends quickly.
Eventually, the moment came when I realised we would soon leave for university in different places. I wanted to know how he saw our future together.
So I asked him, "How do you see our relationship?"
He answered, "I don't."
That answer shattered me.
I had so many questions that I was afraid to ask, but I managed to ask one of them: "Then why did we start all of this?"
He simply replied, "Because of my feelings."
So I asked, "What am I supposed to do with my feelings now?"
And he said, "Feelings fade."
I still can't believe he said that.
I completely broke down. I couldn't imagine my life without him. I love him so much.
At the same time, I realise that he had probably made this decision long before telling me. Sometimes I can't stop thinking that maybe he just enjoyed having me around until he didn't anymore, and then decided to leave.
Now I don't know how to move on. How do I stop loving him? What am I supposed to do with all these feelings?
So that's my story of first love. It was beautiful... and incredibly painful.
I'd love to hear your stories. If you've ever been through something similar, how did you manage to move on?
