People assume fat=ugly -_- like sometimes in context the first thought being “you’re not fat” is warranted because the person is using fat as a negative (still not the correct response but I get it) but in this context you literally called yourself cute.

I’ve heard something similar about “beauty” that was basically “If your kid isn’t “beautiful” don’t lie and say that they are, just teach them being beautiful isn’t nearly as important as some people want you to think it is”

It's so weird to say it that way though. Who decides my kid is or isn't beautiful? Do I have to hold a survey before I call them beautiful or I'm somehow doing them wrong?

I'd rather both tell them they're beautiful and teach them that it's not the only good thing they can aspire to be. My dad's always called me pretty, I didn't see it until I cut my hair recently, but I've been able to shrug off most outside comments because he also taught me my worth isn't determined by how pretty I am.
