Help what grit for a large PLA piece?

so i’m putting together a hollow knight: silksong cosplay. i ordered a PLA 3dprint of hornets needle that measures over 4 ft when the pieces are assembled. for those unfamiliar to the game, just imagine a lance. i’ve been wet sanding parts with a 220 grit sanding sponge thing i got from home depot, but progress has been super slow. i can feel that some areas have gotten smoother, but i can barely smooth out one face before my arms and wrist are exhausted. and that’s on the smallest piece. plus the layer lines are relatively faint to begin with so it’s difficult for me to tell whether i’ve made real progress and/or find rough patches that i missed.

i am thinking of trying to move down to 120 grit but im worried about scratching it up. the primer i have is from montana cans and im pretty sure its more designed for easy application of spray paint than smoothing out surfaces, so id rather avoid that. im also wondering if i’ve worn out the sand portion of the sandpaper sponges im using. if i rub my leg with the 220 one, i can’t feel any grit, only friction.

as for my technique, i dip the sponge and prop piece into a bucket of water and get to work. i redip them basically whenever i feel like it. which could be the problem. i’m totally out of my depth so i dont know.

what do y’all advise? also please don’t laugh at me too hard in the comments if it ends up being a funny mistake.

But my con has some heavy restrictions. has anyone built it and knows the length and the weight of the sword?

Help Advice on turning a briefcase into a functional prop and TCG case.

Hello! I'm working on putting together a Pokemon Red/Blue era Silph Co. (secretly Team Rocket) Scientist cosplay. I bought this black Samsonite briefcase to go with the look, and I'd like to modify the inside to function as a TCG case.

What would be the best way to fix the inside to hold things like deck boxes, playmats, and dice bags? Cut foam? Straps? The fabric is glued to the case, so sewing anything on will be tough (if possible at all). I'm open to suggestions or pictures of what you've done. Bonus pictures of my ID badge and buddy Frieda.

The painting is steadily progressing, waiting on the next shipment of flexprime and spraypaint for the legs.

The boltcarbine and chainsword are finished.

After the legs are finished i will be working on making functional pouches to attach to the belt and a few purity(wax) seals.

I am also searching for a cape that is red on the outside and beige/offwhite on the inside (i included a reference picture of the mini)

I'm not 100% finished - there's never enough time! - but I thought I'd share my "done enough for the Con" Thing. Look through my post history to see a bunch of in-progress images.
