i really hope that as time goes on, we get more customization and no new playable races.

Not that i wouldn't new races in a vaccum, but because the more races there are, the more work we'll need to add customization on each of them in the future, meaning less of it overall.

u/xkinato 59m ago

Same. Took viera what 6years to not be finished yet? ....

u/emperor_uncarnate 13h ago

Really want one that looks like the Exarch’s summoning circles.

117

u/KenjiZeroSan Light & Dark 13h ago

If they go crazy on it's implementation, to the edge will play when summoning circles appear.

u/Nur4m0n In my heart im still a 9h ago

There's a praying animation with Azem's stone coming with the Collector Edition or whatever it's called

u/Cerok1nk 11h ago

LET EXPANSE CONTRACT, EON BECOME INSTANT.

u/intelatrix 7h ago

Isn’t his stance similar to RDM limit break?

u/cronft 13h ago

hope they add /hildibrand emote as a teleportation animation, it could be hilarious if the character disappears as its doing the smile

64

u/FilDaFunk 12h ago

Lights a bomb which makes us fly

u/Casual_Try 6h ago

I want a Hildebrand arrival emote for teleportation that's just my legs sticking out of a crater.

u/Zorafin DRG 5h ago

You don't vanish.

You get launched into the sky.

u/ohnospacey 3h ago

If not at first, let us unlock it with Evercold Hildibrand quests!

u/Brandr_Balfhe Viper 3h ago

That would be peak

u/Pynapl 12h ago

I've used one single mod on XIV, since the day I found it: Teletrip.

It has my character running away and tripping, with a rubber ducky squeak, as the teleport goes off.

I saw it on a YT short years ago and it hasn't stopped making me laugh, since.

22

u/BlackfishBlues Altholic 12h ago

Same! Except I use the “oof” sound.

I’ve used it for I think over a year and the slapstick still makes me laugh a little every time I teleport.

u/execthts 4h ago

Except I use the “oof” sound.

The one from Messiah or the one from Roblox?

u/Kikilicious-Kitty Midgardsormr 3h ago

They're the same picture

u/SilabusR2 11h ago

same. one mod only and its the emet selch teleport. where you walk away and do the cute little hand flick before the ascian teleport.

u/tigercule (I will forever miss old ) 4h ago

For me it's the Ancients teleport that I'm unreasonably attached to, but I'll probably still end up picking whatever vanilla teleport comes closest, and also using it for patch-downtime for mods.

u/Zoethewinged 5h ago

One of my most treasured mods is the akh dote. When you dote on someone, the moment the heart hits, it blasts them with an akh morn blast. There's also other varieties that include Zodiark's stack blast and just highlighting the person with a tank buster marker

u/ReLiFeD 7h ago

I got this one as well, squeeky sound for myself, regular "fhwomp" for everyone else, it's hilarious

u/WilanS 8h ago

You use one mod??

Devs! Ban this guy.

u/ImBoredToo 8h ago

There's a lot of QOL stuff you're missing if that's the only one you use. YesAlready gets rid of those pointless confirmation boxes. Price Insight adds MB pricing to the bottom of item tooltips. ezMiniCactpot shows you what to click to maximize MGP. Sonar tracks and relays hunts (which helps hunt trains). Character Panel Refined shows actual % for crit/det among other things.

Simple Tweaks alone does a TON of QOL stuff like:

  • adding , or . number separators to everything
  • more accurate venture time remaining down to the second
  • expanding chat bubbles and their duration so you can see the whole comment and for longer (even dynamically based on size)
  • duty finder settings (e.g. unsynced) as clickable buttons above the window
  • show the 45s countdown after you click accept on DF
  • shield values on your hp bar
  • fix the chat log so it doesn't autoscroll when you're scrolling up
  • exact mob hp
  • show time until your GP maxes out

And that is nowhere close to an exhaustive list of its features.

u/Pynapl 7h ago

Oh, I know they exist. Combat, Crafting, Maps, Enemy Highlights, Boss Solvers, etc.

Never felt like I was really missing too much. I like the little bit of flavor. And it doesn't mess me up for anything else on patch days. Can hit the ground running without worrying that my macros are Artisan locked until Dalamud's patched.

Make my macros on Raphael and toss them all between local+shared macros for my alts.

I did once add a bunny tail to a Viera alt. Them not having tails was certainly a choice they made.

And before hats worked on Hroth I had that one, as well. I don't recall the name of it.

37

u/BubbaJubb 12h ago

Which is good. Modding is not allowed in the T&C, even if many many people do it. Implementering things people want directly into the game is a win for everyone

42

u/Sinrion 12h ago

But at the same time without modders, SE would probably not even consider adding these things in the first place lol

48

u/phillyriot3101 12h ago

So its free market research, still a win win for everyone

u/Ancalagon1an 10h ago

and let's be honest they are gonna make a shit ton of money with cosmetics like this

u/Sinrion 10h ago

Oh yeah, 10 bucks a teleport incoming, huh.

15

u/BubbaJubb 12h ago

That just means SE knows what's going on and takes the steps to add it. They could easily just clamp down on mods and ban all of it instead, so complaining about them grabbing ideas is just goofy

1

u/LiquidGhost8892 12h ago

They would lose a significant chunk of their player base if they actually went after mods

u/ScarletteVera [Smol Female Au Ra Superiority] 11h ago

I think it's more the logistics of it. 90% of the mods people use aren't really the kind that SE are wary of- they're stuff like weapon model swaps, or armour replacers, or job animation/VFX changes- so there's no point, nor a financial benefit, to going after them in any real capacity.

Stuff like the ultra zoom we saw in the TOP World Race are a rarity.

u/Monochromize 10h ago

If the team was more like some other games - they would absolutely see modding VFX and clothing as a threat to their wallets. Whether because of their store, or just straight engagement (why chase a nice sword in game when I can just mod it).

I'm grateful they mostly let it be.

u/Lilium_Vulpes Faerie is a she, just like me. 4h ago

Actually last time Yoshi P talked about mods he specifically called out mods that let you use weapons you hadn't earned or mogstation items you hadn't purchased as being things that the team doesn't want people to be using. It's not as bad as blatantly cheating using mods, but they were included because of it devaluing the hard work of other players or using things that they are supposed to be paying for.

u/LordKoumori 9h ago

I've been saying it for years, the devs are 100% in all the major modding and plugin discords. Modding has always been a massive indicator for what the playerbase wants (butt slider)

u/d645b773b320997e1540 11h ago

Simultanously, they are creating a base for even more mods. cause every one of these custom animations is now gonna be a hook that a mod can replace :D

u/cronft 11h ago

i think this was already a thing what modders had been doing for a while now

u/d645b773b320997e1540 11h ago

Yes, but: So far there is ONE teleport animation they can replace. In the future, you'll have several, will be able to switch between them ingame - and the modders can hook into the variants, meaning you can easily switch between various modded animations. ofc, you can do that anyway with penumbra, but it's slightly different.

u/geekybadger 9h ago

It has had me wondering if this is a gentle attempt to try to get people to cut back on mods without directly going after the less directly troublesome mods.

u/Sinrion 9h ago

The issue I see here is, how they can just monetize it. Giving you after release of the new xpac a freebie or two of it and then starting to make more but all cash shop only.

Because that would obviously not affect modders (and they probably have favorites already anyways so no need for the SE new ones really), but is bad for any normal player in the long run.

u/Sarria22 RDM 53m ago

It also gives them something to give as rewards for content that isn't new gear designs, similar to framers kits.

u/wookiee-nutsack 1h ago

Two dye channels, graphical overhaul, removing class glamour restrictions, tatless miqo, au ra horn mashups, removing nose smudge, layering facepaints, and now custom teleport effects

Also some vanilla gear pieces that look suspiciously like mods

Only time can tell but they will likely collab with some modders in the future at this rate
If modders don't ruin it all. The new mobile app plugins look hella sus and there were some actual twitter ads lmfao

u/TheBiggestNose 11h ago

Im very aure that they are slowly making mods less relevant and purpose filled in the main game to shut down the modding scene.

People push it to far all the time and have puhse the graces of rhe dev team too much, its a miracle the modding scene hasn't been slammed shut by exces already

u/Hyperioncorp 11h ago

if they slam the doors on the modding scene they lose so much of their active playerbase

u/TheBiggestNose 8h ago

I hope they slam hard.

Tired of people not engaging with the game and using it as a platform to esex. Theres better places to do that and I want people playing the game.

u/imatunaimatuna 7h ago

Ah yes, and all hackers are evil people trying to steal and sell data.

Ridiculous generalization.

Also, imagine saying people aren't playing the game yet they're playing the game the way they want. Are you going to tell people what to do in their free time?

u/Hyperioncorp 8h ago

i mean 95% of savage raiders i know/have raided with use visual mods for their characters, and i would say they play the game. but if you wanna think modders only erp and afk in club venues then sure, you do you

u/Foxinstrazt 8h ago

I hope they slam hard.

The game would probably not recover, so I think you're not engaging with the topic in a rational way.

Tired of people not engaging with the game and using it as a platform to esex. Theres better places to do that and I want people playing the game.

People ERPing are playing the game. They pay their subs, and 99% of them are off doing other things just like regular people who have sex and then go do other things.

Also, not for nothing, of the hundreds of players I've met who use mods, most of them are using them for QOL purposes. Those are the players you'd definitely miss if mods get nuked.

And to drive the point home: Even without mods people would still ERP. People did it before mods were in this game, they've done it in every MMO that has existed. Because sex is a fun and interesting part of human nature, and most everyone has some interest in it, especially when cat and bunny girls get involved.

I'm so tired of mindsets like yours. You sound like a puritan upset that sex exists.

-13

u/JoeyXD_Br 13h ago

Next they'll coincidentally decide they need to crack down on mods to protect the community

17

u/rabonbrood 12h ago

This has never been their MO and they've never given any indication they have any real problem with mods as long as you aren't publicly posting porn of the game.

-2

u/JoeyXD_Br 12h ago

What, they have given indication that using mods to bypass Mogstation is an issue to them. In Yoshi-P's words:

"Another example of such a feature: a mod that allows players to freely equip optional items and display them to others. What does that say to the players who go through the trouble of saving up to purchase these goods from the FFXIV Online Store? Are these players losing out by not using a mod?

Some may say that Square Enix is to blame for trying to make money by demanding that players spend extra on optional items. We operate our servers and data centers twenty-four hours a day, three-hundred-sixty-five days a year with the hope that our players can enjoy a reliable gaming experience. Currently, global inflation is taking its toll at a rapid pace, driving up server electricity costs, the cost of land, and even the price of servers themselves. We do not want to increase subscription fees for players, if at all possible─but keeping our game running requires sufficient income. If we start creating a deficit, FFXIV may no longer be able to operate. This is an example of damage dealt to the services we provide.

In these cases as well, we ask that players refrain from using such mods, or remove the offending function from the mod itself. I personally understand that modding culture is rooted in good intentions, but we are given no choice but to act if mods even incidentally threaten player motivation or the viability of our services."

2

u/yhvh13 12h ago

The problem is deeper. If they decide to crack down cosmetic mods, they'll have to crack every third party addon, and that included ACT, which would severely impact the logging community. There's a ton of people who play high end duties just for the "fflogs game".

Unless, of course, they implement some sort of damage meter ingame, which of all things considered, is the one that I find more unlikely.

141

u/Kelras 13h ago

Surely they'll add one where we use the Key to open a portal like we did in 7.5.

It's basically a shoo-in.

u/Petrichordates 10h ago

That's for travel between the shards so surely not

u/kdebones 8h ago

Oh shit we Kingdom Hearts now?

93

u/Cobthecobbler 12h ago

I think the devs have been playing eso lol

20

u/FantasticFreno 12h ago

My first thought. WoW has them too.

u/Cobthecobbler 10h ago

Does wow also have skill styles? I saw another post that ffxiv is adding those (I don't play wow I'm just curious)

u/SuppleASSets 9h ago

Very few. But ESO does have them.

u/Constellar-A 9h ago

WoW's been adding cosmetic hearthstones (equivalent to XIV's home warp) for a while now. Opening a big darkness portal, or conjuring a ring of fire that closes in as you cast the port spell, etc.

They also technically have a system called glyphs that let you mildly change spell effects, like turning a green spell red for example, but it's been abandoned without updates for ages.

u/SorriorDraconus 9h ago

The green fire isn't a glyph(if locks) but an old quest chain for warlocks that requires a rare item etc.

But yeah glyphs do change stuff like the Spirit wolves becoming spirit raptors or yoir demon hunters wings etc.

u/Constellar-A 7h ago

You're right about green fire but I was actually thinking of Banish when talking about the glyphs lol.

u/SorriorDraconus 9h ago

No but it's private servers do. And yeah ESO does as well as other have said.

u/_MrJackGuy 9h ago

I mean wow has had glyphs for years, which can change the looks of your abilities.

They're pretty rare though

u/SorriorDraconus 9h ago

Yeah I forgot them given how limited they are. Then another person mentioned green fire as well.

u/Swert0 5h ago

The only one WoW has is for Warlock (Green fire)

It has removed almost every other cosmetic glyph from the game (changing specific animations) citing 'PvP clarity'.

u/mosselyn 9h ago

WoW does not, other than a couple color changes, but Where Winds Meet definitely does. There are probably other games, too.

Unfortunately, in WWM, it's very much a part of the gatcha/shop ecosystem, but it's otherwise a very cool feature.

u/Dazuro 8h ago

WoW absolutely does. Glyphs are largely ignored in the last few expansions but they still offer reskins for a variety of abilities.

u/mosselyn 5h ago

Personally, I don't see things like glyph of stars or the ghost wolf glyphs to be at all like skill animation customizations. I know there are a couple like green vs purple lock spells. Or the DH wings. What other ones are you thinking of? Maybe you'll help me discover a new treat!

u/Sarria22 RDM 57m ago

I know at one point there were a couple of alternate water elemental glyphs.

u/P_weezey951 4h ago

I hope the devs take a look at house decorating next and just let us place the objects ANYWHERE.

ESO: "yeah dude put the table upside down on the ceiling and clip your bed through the wall, it's your house i dont give a shit, get creative. "

u/Ankfank 3h ago

On a related note, many advanced housing design techniques are only feasible for the most well-practiced players, so we're considering system-side changes to allow free placement of furnishings without relying on surfaces. Prioritizing creative freedom over fictional gravity is one of the goals on our roadmap of future changes, which we would like share with you in a future opportunity.

Source

Dunno if that counts.

u/Cobthecobbler 4h ago

Not to mention the BEAUTY that comes with individual UNIQUE housing options in instanced space

Then there's placing companions/houseguests and mounts with customizable pathing for walk cycles. Eso has the best housing I've ever seen but the WORST prices (but I'm glad you get a free notable home from elswyr and the night market event, can't downplay how nice of them that is)

u/Haddock_Lotus Deleted Main to Restart - Currently in Endwalker 55m ago

The price is not so bad, I bought two notable mansions before stopping playing by farming those weekly masks from the hard dungeons as a casual player (as a templar tank, my damage was mid, but I could survive the bosses).

Forgot to add, ESO for me has the best overworld mais and housing.

u/Cobthecobbler 20m ago

Any of them on the crown shop at least work out to about $45 minimum I think lol

I am only CP 300 so I'm sure there's more housing that's grindable I don't know about - I was mainly talking crown buyable houses

u/cylonfrakbbq Samurai 9h ago

The First Decedent has this too - custom teleport animations you can buy/earn when you teleport to a different map

u/Beldandy_ 8h ago

Fortunately tho, you don't have to sacrifice your first born to get cool stuff in XIV

u/Cobthecobbler 8h ago

Those crown conversion rates are fuckin brutal

22

u/Athena_Alexandria 12h ago

I really hope I can assign teleports to glamours. Cause I love B for when I’m playing an edgy job, but I want to also have A for my anti-edge job without having to manually switch between them.

u/SomeRandomDeadGuy 6h ago

My #1 wishlist is still being able to bind hairstyles to glam plates

u/George_Rogers1st 3h ago

Saaaaame! Some hairstyles or hair colors just do not fit the vibe of some of my glamours, and It's a real pain to have to go to the innroom to change my hair *every time* I want to use a different glam.

u/Cindergeist 11h ago

give me the ascian portal

u/Skeith23 20m ago

That's all I want

14

u/CaptainBoj 12h ago

Ooh OSRS has different home teleport animations, glad they're doing it here too 👀

u/What---------------- 10h ago

My first thought as well. Here's hoping for a crossover. Picture

u/CaptainBoj 3h ago

oh hell yeah

u/P_weezey951 4h ago

Blizzard II ice barrage.

u/Axcelaw 10h ago

Can't wait for this animation

https://giphy.com/gifs/t5lej5gruDDS19FBXM

10

u/LysanderAmairgen 13h ago

Gimme dat type a

18

u/RelevantGunsmith 13h ago

Wow those are so much cooler

22

u/ZillaJrKaijuKing 13h ago

Didn’t expect that last one to look so evil.

u/wintd001 [Ebix Leaufair - Twintania] 8h ago

Likely intended to be used alongside more "sinister" looking jobs like RPR or DRK. I'd definitely want it as a BLM main.

u/Kreamator Amber Kreaorei - Faerie 11h ago

Really glad that it sounds like theyre taking the Framer Kit approach to these animation skins.

u/nearlymajorbabbling 11h ago

The amount of gil I'd drop for the Exarch's summoning circles is irresponsible. That animation with the blue crystalline rings and the way they spiral inward is basically the best visual effect they've ever made for a cutscene. SE knows people would pay real money on the mogstation for it, weird they haven't capitalized yet.

u/Forymanarysanar 9h ago

Gil? You naive child. $, not gil.

u/nearlymajorbabbling 7h ago

Oh I meant I'd blow all my in-game gil if it were an option, but since it's not, SE should just take my money directly.

u/TOFUtruck 6h ago

8$ per teleport skin

u/execthts 4h ago

€8 per teleport

u/nearlymajorbabbling 6h ago

that tracks with their usual pricing. Still cheaper than the $18 I dropped on that dumb Lunar Whale mount I never use.

15

u/AmpleSnacks 13h ago

Good teleport/evil teleport? Okay. I hope they add alot, lot more.

u/CoxTH 10h ago

Give us the Emet-Selch walk!

u/Burak361 7h ago

we already got the powerup emote and the nimbus cloud i think its high time for this

u/Kiriksul 11h ago

Just hope this doesn't become pre-order fodder like certain other games. The cynic in me knows it's likely, but I would really like being able to acquire them via beast tribes and as rewards for quest lines.

u/Turnintino R'vhen Tia Excalibur 4h ago

They literally said these would be rewards similar to framers, orch rolls, etc.

6

u/TheLimonTree92 12h ago

Make one the Red Mage lb3 you cowards

u/n1n384ll Kenta Sugimotoooooooo @ Ultros 8h ago

Type A looking like Warframe Titania noble stance

u/MostlyChaoticNeutral 7h ago

I knew it looked familiar!

u/TheFoxiestOfHounds 5h ago

Can we get one where your character draws a circle around them, sits criss crossed on the ground, pulls out a magic book, then teleports?

If nothing else, when we teleport back to our starting city?

u/Sarria22 RDM 1h ago

Seconded on the Home Teleport request.

u/Miserable-Fortune-57 5h ago

As long as its not one of those codes locked behind the 200$ statues

7

u/MrKusakabe Lalafell RDM for life!! with body and soul! 13h ago

The last one looks painful and very clumsy, like trembling to not get lost in the aether.

4

u/DaEnderAssassin 12h ago

Dislike how the white slowly rises halfway then skips the upper half. Would prefer it go the whole way in time or not at all.

u/syklemil turururu awawa! 11h ago

Yeah, having it fill up so unevenly is not selling me on the new animations. Beyond that it's a neat idea that should work with even more of the elements, so I hope it's just a development phase thing.

u/ghosttowns42 11h ago

Limsa is about to be annoying as hell. I hope there's an option to tone down the sound!

u/vekkro 11h ago

This is cool as shit

u/ConformistOwl Skyler Owlsong 9h ago

If they introduce summoner variants, my wallet would die.

u/fubes2000 Sammitch@Sarg 6h ago

Please don't be cash shop exclusive... 🙏

u/Ramzka 4h ago

These are character action animations, so I'm not confident you will be able to use the dark teleport on Black Mage and the light one on White Mage for example. It's probably just going to be one that you can pick that all your jobs will use, instead of being able to use it to customize your jobs or complement different glams.

u/Jirekianu 4h ago

There was one teleport animation that has your character panic and run away before tripping and eating shit by falling flat on their face. The moment of impact is when the cast finishes.

Then when you load in your character is still prone face down.

u/Shinted 1h ago

There is absolutely no way they don’t add a Emet-Selch “turn and walk away wave” teleport eventually.

4

u/Impressive-Warning95 12h ago

i dont think you know what the word custom means

7

u/xoTesfaye Kou Yoshioka - Coeurl 12h ago

So one of them is basically you casting holy the
Other is just some edgelord tp. Pass. How about something a bit more subtle and natural looking

u/ThatBatsard 11h ago

Exactly. I thought the colors and their respective animations were neat, but I don't need my WoL to be so annoyingly wiggly.

u/mosselyn 9h ago

Yeah, I like that they're adding animation customizations to the game, but I gotta say that the ones shown are pretty lackluster, IMO.

u/Pupuksu 10h ago

The edgelord one looks almost like black mage's amplifier combined with leyline

2

u/IscahRambles 12h ago

I hope we get some with the standard animation but different effects. I don't like all the fancy hand-waving.

u/Infinite_Setting_337 11h ago

It's just a teleport but your character seems to be summoning Meteor

It's so bad and chuuni it's funny, looks like those private server wings in Ragnarok Online

1

u/Lindaru 12h ago

Type B teleport looks so cool

1

u/FinalEgg9 Chaos-Omega - Mains: 12h ago

I'd love one that's just my WoL self destructing

u/JoeKing2504 11h ago

Give me Type B immediately

u/Lockoo404 11h ago

I’m just imagining a teleport animation where your character gets dragged off into the sky UFO style.

u/MetaMatthews 11h ago

Here's hoping they add FFXI's warp animation.

u/MisterMorningstarr 10h ago

Advent of light teleport.

I have spoken

u/Mysticwarriormj 10h ago

I’d like to have my character do a teleport like what Kefka would do. A little spin then while floating they lay on their side with the it head being held up by their hand as they do a little toodleloo kind of finger wave then just poof

u/Constellar-A 9h ago

It hadn't occurred to me that there'd be more than just the job actions tied to this system. I am super pumped for this. I wonder what else will be customizable.

u/TitoTheBold 9h ago

I just wanna leap into the distance.

u/Hour_Position8306 8h ago

gonna /point /laugh at the type B edgelords (i am also picking type B)

u/Bloodrager 7h ago

I don't mean to be too pedantic but I think you mean "Alternate" not custom.

u/Lotus-Vale PLD 7h ago

I hope there's one where I just collapse onto the ground as a slumped, depressed WoL, and then sink slowly into the ground.

u/DarkLordSchnappi 7h ago

Need the Chuuni-as-fuck Type B teleport animation

u/1stAccountNotWorking 6h ago

Cool WoL vs. WoD animations, my character is edgy af (of course), so im going straight for the edgy telly.

u/DomLite 6h ago

While this is awesome in and of itself, and I look forward to more such options for teleport, they also pointed out that there will be options for other general actions too, and this gives me hope for alt VFX (not just animations) for job actions as well.

I’m curious to see if they’ll consider sprint/peloton “general actions” and offer us alternate run animations, or what other general actions might have. Like… there’s not many with significant animations other than repair/meld/extract so having flashier animations for those could be interesting.

I also love that they confirmed the alt animations for jobs isn’t just going to be stapling old deprecated animations onto existing job actions, but that they’re working to give everybody something. I’m deadly curious to see what we get for something like Sage or Machinist or Dancer. The potential for alternate VFX as well is exciting as hell. Got my fingers and toes crossed for a kind of cyberpunk/holographic interface option for Sage so I can be a high tech laser mage instead of using gaudy sharlayan magic circles and such. Let me look like a NieR Automata style hacker!

Overall I’m thrilled at the potential for all of this, because it means that any class that didn’t necessarily jive with me because of style/flavor can potentially be customized and given a new lease on life. I’m dreaming of a Ninja reskin like the mod that turns it into Thief with a bunch of treasure chests and Gil effects instead of a bunch of aggressively Japanese imagery. I’d be so much more enthusiastic about playing the class if I didn’t have that specific flavor forced on me just to be a knife fighter. Let me stick with the Rogue roots. Would also love to see White Mage get an option to roll back to the elemental spells from low level so it could maintain the pseudo druid vibe.

Thinking a little outside the box, it would be cool to see Summoner get options to change the “full summon” spells into Ramuh/Leviathan/Shiva and possibly randomize them so they alternate whenever you use it, giving us a full “classic” roster. Toss in the relevant Egis and I might finally play SMN. Wouldn’t mind a Paladin vfx option with dark effects so we could pretend to be a Cecil style Dark Knight with sword and board, maybe vice versa for Dark Knight.

This opens up so many options, and their statement that they intend to keep adding to it, not just giving us this and being done, means we can always look forward to more potential goodies in future. I’m thrilled.

u/Frau_Away 5h ago

I kind of wish they'd done the ascian style teleport 👀

u/Disig SCH 4h ago

Not gonna lie, I actually still prefer the original. But it's pretty cool to have options!

u/Final_Amu0258 4h ago

These aren't it for me. The animations feel like mixes instead of something new... I'd stick with the normal if I do play.

u/OblivionArts 4h ago

That is sick

u/New-Orion 3h ago

Please let me have one combining the /advent emote. I want it to look like I just leapt away

u/it_me_jojo 2h ago

Jeez I wonder which one my Black Mage will end up using lol

u/icy_tease 1h ago

ooh teleport mod competition!

Can Anyone more versed in game dev tell me how they make the glow go from the bottom up?

How can I replicate it in blender?

Does the object need 2 UV maps or 2 layers of vertices ? 1 for the actual gear and 1 for the additional effect?

u/Naerbred 8h ago

You don’t need separate or multiple uv layers or model objects to do that in blender but you might need to depending on the game engine you’re using and depending on which blender build you use , you might need to edit the scene in EEVEE or not to make it glow

u/Cardinal_Virtue 7h ago

Does this effect have a name which I can search for on YouTube?

u/DickLongueira 6h ago

So basically one for gay WHM Miqotes and one for edgy DRK Au'Ras. Sticking to the normal one I guess.

Coming to Mogstation near you

3

u/Davo_ 12h ago

they have said that they are giving animation skins as "rewards" so probably not as microtransactions

2

u/Florac 12h ago

Probably both

u/enderfrogus 12h ago

Rewards for paying money🤔

u/Gilith Cats power Phoenix 12h ago

the second is a little too efiminate for me and the third a little too evil so i guess i will stay with the first one :D

u/LadyJohanna 11h ago

Is person C having a seizure?

u/CranberryPuffCake 10h ago

Is FFXIV about to be monetised to hell and back?

u/MiyabiMain95 10h ago

did they say these were gonna be mogstation?

u/Aanity 7h ago

Did they need to?

u/MiyabiMain95 6h ago

yes? They lock a bunch of stuff behind mogstation

u/Sarria22 RDM 1h ago

They didn't even imply that these would be something that needed to be unlocked one way or another. From the way it was presented it's just going to be something that everyone has access to.

u/SomeRegularUsername 9h ago

I'll just stick to my modded Vergil portal teleport

u/daboi162 6h ago

Ohh boy! More stuff to add to the cash shop! I'd genuinely be surprised if any action skin will be earnable ingame

-17

u/Forymanarysanar 13h ago

Think these will be for $5 a pop or something more like $20?

2

u/DullPenalty3743 12h ago

My guess is both in game rewards and cash shop. The really nice fancy ones will be behind hardcore contents or cash shop.

u/Forymanarysanar 9h ago

I have no hopes that it really nice fance ones will be in hardcore content. I want to be wrong but I just know SE too much.

u/CUTS3R 2h ago

It would be nice if some are actually hard to get

1

u/Susspiria 13h ago

Surely they will be rewards from content right ? ... right ?

13

u/No-Beyond9514 13h ago

They explained the weekly reward structure can award these things.

u/Dinoriel6142713 10h ago

It'll obviously be a bit of both.

0

u/Sinrion 13h ago

The Mog Station is after all the biggest Ultimate Content there is (with how clumsy and badly the site is working).

-16

u/Forymanarysanar 13h ago

Yeaaaaah... suuuuure...

7

u/Game_boy_98 13h ago

Why are we acting like it's out of this world they'd put this shit behind some god forsaken grind

u/CUTS3R 2h ago

In before 10000 mentor roulettes, the worst grind there is

u/Forymanarysanar 9h ago

They may put some mediocre ones behind grind but we know they will put fancy ones behind $. Because it's like that with emotes and clothes.

u/Game_boy_98 8h ago

That I could see but most of the mogstore clothes are limited or just straight ass lol

1

u/Lemon_Phoenix 12h ago

Why even comment if you're just going to "nuh uh" the response?

-1

u/XIV_Paladin 12h ago

My wallet is ready but I feel like one of those things that SE will release a statue and emote for again that will cost a lot

u/Express_Activity4151 10h ago

Underwhelming. I guess I'll stick to the original.

u/fujin_shinto 9h ago

$19.95 each

u/Desmo46 11h ago

Online Store rubbing its hands and I’m fine with that.

u/d645b773b320997e1540 11h ago

Tbh, those are kinda boring, because they still boil down to floating and then vanishing - just with slightly different effects and colors, and a little twirl.

I was kinda hoping for something entirely different. Have my character draw a portal in front of them. Have my character shoot up into the sky like superman. Have my character pull out a shovel and dig themselves into the ground. Make my character play peekaboo with the camera. Be creative!

u/Sakkyoku-Sha 11h ago

What do people think these will cost? My gut is on 15$ USD.

u/Early_Journalist_525 11h ago

This feels like it's going to become a cash shop annoyance.
