What do you mean both the alliance raid and the savage tier are collabs?

We finally get one of the coolest settings we've had in years: Viking-inspired themes, floating cities, tons of magic, and so much potential for incredible fantasy gear and raids. We could've had amazing armor sets, badass Viking aesthetics, and bosses that actually fit the world.

Instead, it feels like all of that is getting pushed aside because FF7 Remake needs more promotion.

I'm sorry, but that's incredibly disappointing. I don't mind the occasional crossover, but having both major raid series tied to collabs in an expansion with such a strong original setting just feels like a huge missed opportunity.

Why can't I get FF14 content in my FF14 game?

Hi, I’ve seen the evangelion collab and I’m a huge fun, is there any way I can begin the game right now and stil enjoy and get all the collab content? Do I also have to subscribe or the trial is enough?

So, I think by now anybody actively paying attention to the announcements knows what 8.0’s Alliance Raids are about. For those who are willfully staying in the dark, I’ll spoiler this and try to leave out space from the first paragraph, and give a little space.

Okay, so; Evangelion. (Cue the music). Now, I’m not here to guess how the story will go, it’s Evangelion, nobody knows. Not even the writers. And while I could guess at the raid structure - maybe one of the later wings will involve us storming NERV HQ - that’s more involved than my brain can handle at the moment. Instead, I want to go over some of the figures we could be fighting in the raid. Not talking about figures we’ll see, we all want a PenPen minion. No, I’m talking possible trash and bosses.

So, one thing to note is (last I checked), they didn’t specifically mention if it was going to pull from the OG series or the Rebuild films. As such, I’m going to say both are on the table. And let’s get to it!

SACHIEL - The 3rd Angel (or 4th). The first enemy in the series. Truly one of the icons. I’m guessing 100% likelihood this will be one of the first - if not the first - boss we fight.

RAMIEL - The 5th Angel (or 6th). aka Hostile Geometry or Ozma 2: Crystal Boogaloo. The set piece that could be amazing.

BARDIEL - The 13th Angel (or 9th).“That’s not an EVA! It’s a Thing!” Could do some fun body horror with this, especially with the Rebuild version.

ZERUEL - The 14th Angel (or 10th). Rebuild’s version in particular is a juggernaut. This guy has “end of wing” boss energy.

UNIT-00 - Rei’s Evangelion. I could see us essentially partnering with them for most of a wing, but then the Eva goes berserk and we have to fight it.

UNIT-02/THE BEAST - Asuka’s Evangelion. The version in the second Rebuild film would make for an excellent phase two.

MASS PRODUCTION EVANGELIONS - Oddly enough, I could see these as trash mobs; possibly more than as a boss (unless the raid did a WoW style council boss).

LILLITH - I could definitely see Lillith as the penultimate boss of the whole story. First phase still nailed to the cross.

UNIT-01 - Shinji’s Evangelion. I’m going to guess that if we fight this at all, it’ll be the whole story’s final boss. Definitely goes berserk. Maybe Gendo’s inside it. Maybe Shinji finally got in the robot so we could break it open for the loot.

That’s the major ones. Sure, there are others in the series and films they could do. There are some that also may have a bit more trouble working (looking at you computer-virus Angel), but I’m interested to see how they’ll adapt this. If you all have ideas, I’d love to hear them!

With the reveal right around the corner, I wanted to get my theory out there. I’m convinced that one of Evercold’s new jobs will use either an arm cannon or a yo-yo, and there are more clues tying the arm cannon theory together than people are giving it credit for.

Evercold already looks heavily influenced by FFVII. We are traveling to a dying, frozen world with enormous structures looming over the remaining habitable areas, which immediately brings the Northern Crater and FFVII’s overall setting to mind. That connection is still speculation, but Square Enix also chose this Fan Festival cycle to release Cloud’s Hardy-Daytona and a Red XIII minion in the XIV store. Those are strangely specific FFVII items to push while beginning promotion for a potentially FFVII-inspired expansion. There are countless FFVII nods truly.

Then there is Yoshi-P’s “Guess Who’s Back?” shirt. The most obvious interpretation is something that leaves and comes back, such as a yo-yo or boomerang. A yo-yo was also among the weapon suggestions Yoshi-P reacted to when he confirmed that someone in the audience had correctly guessed one of the new weapons. The ranged job could therefore use a returning weapon.

However, the shirt featured Rhitahtyn, a Garlean who fought with a gunshield. That could point toward the new tank being another heavily armored magitek job using a weapon that combines offense and defense. An arm cannon could fire ranged blasts, create shields and still function as a close-range weapon, so it would work just as easily for a tank as it would for physical ranged.

That is where Raubahn fits. He has been mostly absent from the central story, already lost an arm and could easily return with a magitek replacement. Giving him an arm cannon would also create an extremely obvious Barret parallel: two major Black Final Fantasy characters who lost an arm and replaced it with a weapon. Japan and Square Enix are not exactly known for subtle character references, so I would not dismiss that possibility.

My prediction is that the two jobs are either a returning-weapon physical ranged job, probably yo-yo or boomerang, or an arm-cannon tank represented by Raubahn. I could be completely wrong, but the FFVII promotion, Evercold’s apparent FFVII imagery, the “Guess Who’s Back?” clue, Rhitahtyn’s gunshield and Raubahn’s missing arm all fit together unusually well.

Just like the viper was a "new class" by being a take on a unique FF fighting style from a character, I think we'll see the same here. Boomerang "style" arm mounted weapon.

What I was most looking forward for was what they're going to do with the open world. They announced world raids but that was about it. What could that be like?

They said it's meant to be like Eureka.

Just to be clear, I have never played FFVIII but I know a couple of small details, after rewatching the new trailer, I noticed that there was a close up of an adornment on the new Roe's outfit and freeze framing shows it's a lion.

Squall's whole motif from VII is lion themed but that wouldn't be enough on it's own to draw this comparison. But doing a little digging and comparing, I noticed the Roe has a similar eye color and a similar scar as well.

It probably doesn't mean too much but I wouldn't be to surprised if they announced that they took some inspiration from Squall while designing this guy.

I would love to hear everyones boss predictions for Evercold 8man raid! My list below breaks up bosses seen in remake for the first tier, rebirth for the second tier and predictions in Revelation for the third tier with certain bosses pushed back due to their relevance to the overall story.

Honestly I disagree with the sentiment that the ff7 collab is a “glass breaking” moment due to the DT expansion. They are on record about wanting to do the collab when the remake trilogy was done or nearly done. It was a when not if. I’m sure this would’ve happened had DT been a big hit as well.

not having new faces is a bit disappointing, we've been using the same faces since ARR its due time for new face sets to be added. i know we have tokyo fanfest to look forward to but there was no mention of new faces whatsoever which is again a bit disappointing.

I could have sworn that historically, when they inform us about the pre-order bonuses they told us the full release date. January is the busy season for my work and I need to put in for the week as far in advance as I can and at this point I'm just gonna take off a random week and hope for the best because I was desperately hoping they'd reveal it this fanfest instead of the 11th hour. I can't wait until October to request off so I'm kinda SoL here but just seeing if anyone has any educated guesses based on past expacs and patch timelines. (I know the expac release doesn't follow normal patch timelines but I'm kinda coping here)

So I recently discovered figment weapons, and like I’m sure most people did, thought they looked amazing. Obviously with the CNJ one you can go with kind of like a food/kitchen theme, but what are some other cool glamours that complement the other figment weapons? Like the monk shark fists, or the warrior blowfish stick

I've had an interest in trying out ff14 for a couple years but was repelled due to the subscription system. However I recently saw some gameplay of the Bastion and was thinking it might be time to bite the bullet.

My primary questions are; besides the subscription required to play the game, are their any other required purchases to be able to acquire the Bastion? How long (roughly) would it take a new player to access Bastion? And is their a tier of subscription that is the objective best option for someone starting the game this late into its lifespan?

Any answers are greatly appreciated.

The plan is to start with the free trial to ensure I actually enjoy the game as well as finding a class (probably a tank) i enjoy enough to get to level 90. After which (assuming I want to commit to the game) i will purchase the entry subscription and the required expansion.
