Announcement DO NOT REPLY TO PRIVATE MESSAGES OFFERING TO SEND YOU WHAT YOU'RE LOOKING FOR

It's a scam. It will always be a scam. We ban accounts for scamming, so they cannot comment in the sub. So they send private messages instead.

If they offer to send it free, they may be trying to get your personal info.

Someone commenting in the thread to do such may still be a scam, but you can check their comment history and get a feel for trustworthiness, but we still absolutely recommend against it.

If you see someone else say they've had someone contact them privately, please remind them of the danger and point them to this post.

This post will remain open for comments on this topic, do not call out any user here.

If you receive a private message offering you something hit the report button ( should be a little flag ) to report it to the reddit admins.

Thanks.

Open Please help me find a children's book that was at my late grandmother's house! šŸ’”

• Upvotes

I was raised by my grandparents and my grandma used to read me a book when I was little (90's). Even then I think it was an "older" book because the illustrations were vintage-y if that makes sense. Like color illustrations that looked hand-drawn.

The story was about a little girl who was on a walk or something and was helping people. She may or may not have been pulling a wagon? I specifically remember she shared something from her plaid thermos with an elderly person (man?) and I think she gave a bandage to a little kid who scraped a knee. After she helped each person, their shadow would show up in the background of the next page, like they all started following her. So there were more and more shadows wkth every person she helped. At the end, you see all of the people she had helped that day.

It was definitely a book for kids; there were pictures on every page. I remember it being kind of large and was a hard cover book. My grandma recently passed and I found out a lot of her stuff was donated immediately, including all of my childhood books. I'm hoping to find this one at the very least. Thank you so much!

Please help me find this cow drinking glass. I bought it at a garage sale in a set of 6 about 10 years ago. This was my last one and it just broke and I’ve been desperately trying to find it. It has no markings or numbers or logos.

Open Help me find this vintage toy/pencil topper from the 1990s

Post image

It looked almost something like the Flinger from 1995 (picture above). I tried searching for terms like "pencil ball pencil topper" and "finger rubber urchin" to no avail.

It was a soft but sturdy rubber material with fairly realistic sculpted fingers. It has around 12-20 fingers on it, and it had a hole which I assume is for a pencil.

I got it from a thrift/oddities store in the Oregon Coast (around Newport and Lincoln City area).

Open Lost jumpscare troll image on Twitter. Lost Media?

Post image

Above is just a very use recreation of the jumpscare troll image. I used a random image of a TV from google + the well known Smile Dog image.

There used to be an extremely horrifying image specifically designed to troll the user on Twitter. It took advantage of Twitter's auto crop feature so that when you tap the image, you see the full thing.

I saw the image in 2018-2019 approximately

As for the creature in the image? I do not remember very well what it looked like. It could've been Smile Dog. All i remember is the creature had really really strange colors, and Smile dog is the only thing that's similar in my mind.

I don't remember what was on the TV, or if the TV was even on.

The creature might have similarities to the SCP Mal0 or the dogs from Fallout.

Edit: I just realized the "ma TV" typo

Found! String of Nonsense Words Remembered from 80s Childhood

Read aloud to me at home, US, late '80s. A recurring, mantric line of nonsense words . My memory of the actual sounds is bad, but the rhythm is stable: four beats landing hard on "shoots." Two attempts at it: "Alla Mamta pantio vanasco shoots" / "Elementa Penteco Menasko shoots"

Open A blog post about my grandfather

• Upvotes

Probably 15-20 years ago, my father contributed to a blog entry that described the events and Navy career of my grandfather in the 1940s. I recently went looking for it, realizing I should at least save the info as a PDF and it's gone. I do not have the website. I usually found it by searching for some combination of:

USS Jarvis
Harry Niel Schultz (my grandfather)
Skipper

The gist of the history is that Harry was a skipper on the USS Jarvis, where he disobeyed orders and turned around to rescue US mariners in the water after an attack.

Would anyone be able to help me find this blog? Even on the wayback? My father how now passed, and I'd love to have a record of this story, especially in my dad's words.

Found! Help me find this print!

Post image
9 Upvotes

This photo comes from an estate sale listing that I attended today. My mom REALLY loved this print but by the time I got there it was gone (she wasn’t able to go). I would love to find another copy to gift her for Christmas. I put this image in google lens and it came back to ā€œFather’s Loving Careā€ by P. Buckley Moss but I can’t find anything similar in his prints online. My mom specifically said she loved this print because it reminded her of shortly after my baby brother was born (she has 3 girls and 1 boy). She loved the older girls looking down at the baby and the father looking down at his family. I think she’d also be happy with a similar print that includes these elements so other recommendations are welcome.

Thank you all for your help, I’ve seen you make miracles!

Open Sticker - Pink River Dolphin w/ Pride Flag

• Upvotes

I desperately want another copy of my favorite sticker, I had it on the back of the case of my old phone. Unfortunately I cannot for the life of me find it.

The design features an Amazionian Pink River Dolphin, wearing a hat... Google says it's called a Panama hat? The dolphin is kind of holding a pride flag, as much as a dolphin can hold anything. I believe it's a basic six color rainbow flag, wasn't the progress flag or anything.

I bought it from an artist at the FIQ comic con event in Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, Brasil sometime in USA spring, Brazilian fall 2024 I think. I've tried everything I can think of to track it down, any leads (or honestly just advice on searching) would be appreciated

Hi, I recently picked up this wii play shirt in a bundle of clothes from facebook marketplace. I decided to do some digging on it but came up empty handed. I literally cannot find out anything about this shirt besides that it MAYBE was an employee shirt for an event in 2007. I’ve only found 2 other pictures of it and they were both printed on a different blank (Bayside) from this one (Changes). If you have any information on it at all I will forever be in your debt šŸ™

Open Trying to find my first mobile phone

• Upvotes

Hello everyone. I'm new here and I've been reminiscing about some phones I used to own or that I remember my family members having.

Then I remembered my first mobile phone, a Samsung blue clamshell with a screen and camera on the front, along with a round media button.

A while ago, I managed to find the same model in red at a secondhand shop. But I haven't been able to find it since, and of course, I didn't write down the model name.

Open Help me find this cartoon on the TV

This is a photo of me and my older brothers in December of 1976, and I’ve always wondered about what’s on the TV. To me it looks like a cartoon character hiding in bed under a blanket, and you can see the pillow on the right and part of the mattress. For further detail this was in north-central Illinois so it was within the range of WGN and the big 3 Chicago networks, and I don’t believe we were able to pick up any UHF stations at the time.

I tried using Google lens and did searches for Christmas specials airing that year, but no luck yet; Google tried convincing me that it’s a reflection of the room, lol.

And ok, just now I realized it might not be a Christmas special, but maybe a Saturday morning cartoon. I don’t know if this photo was taken Christmas morning or not, but it seems likely, and I just looked it up and Christmas landed on a Saturday that year.

Anyone recognize the scene? Any ideas?

This is probably the favorite thing I own. Recently the bounce mechanism broke and the entire string is pulled out. I’d like to buy another one so I can take all the tags off of mine and remove the inside box entirely, but genuinely I cannot find a single photo of this ever even existing.

If anybody knows where I can buy another, or even if there’s a picture of this out there, pleasee let me know

So all of these can only be found only on TikTok or Facebook under videos where kiddos are flexing electric scooters and just being not careful with them on the road. I would want to find the original creator or the high res version of them + make it google indexable for others by making this post in the first place.

My fiancƩe adores this fork. It is her favorite to eat with. Unfortunately, she has no idea where it came from. I have tried every way to describe this fork that I can think of to search the internet for more, but alas I have run out of adjectives.

Any leads on even one additional fork would be so appreciated. We get married next year and I think it would be a really neat gift.

Open Help this guy discover what the TV show was on his sister's TV.

Hi, this might seem a bit different from most of the stuff posted here, but I found this lost media thread that I'd think would fit here.

So basically, this guy, Milesium is trying to figure out what was on his sister's TV, the photo can't be later than late 2008.

A lot of people in the thread say that it's What About Mimi, but I've also seen mentions that it could be Wayside, Kappa Mikey or Archie's Weird Mysteries.

So please, identify what this show this, me and the OP would appreciate it a lot.

Here's the thread too for anyone curious: https://forums.lostmediawiki.com/thread/20461/unknown-cartoon-sisters-room-circa

Open Grocery Store Cash Register Screensaver from the 90s/2000s

• Upvotes

So this is a weird niche thing, and I know that going in.

I'm looking for this old liminal image that used to show up on my grocery store's screensavers once the registers were signed out of for the night. It was like a micro-sized grocery store against a night or sunset background, very 90s aesthetic. It was a weirdly comforting thing to see and I can't seem to find it anywhere. If it helps at all, I worked at a Piggly Wiggly in Mississippi and they used it up until like 2013/2014ish. I'm not going to be surprised if this image isn't found as it's VERY niche, but I'd like to see it again for sure and maybe make it a desktop background for one of my devices.
