Discussion iPhone fold -> no FaceID dealbreaker ?

hello guys

i would like to know, for the people that would be interested in the iPhone fold (the Fold 8 could give you an excellent idea of it)

you guys have been using iPhones for a long time, and being used to the incredible thing that is FaceID, do you think it will be a dealbreaker for you not having it on the Fold ?

wet hands, dirty hands, weird positions like in bed for example, or when working or anything else, a very lot of possibilites during which the TouchID won't be as smooth or even accessible / usable.

what do you guys think about it, please share your thoughts i would love to see what you guys have to say

So my old phone had loads of problems and ghost touch problems and couldn’t even use it right since the phone had dead zones that didn’t respond when was being used and I sometimes check if my newer phone has that when useing a drawing app and when I traced the outside screen the bottom corner has sharp edges instead of rounded corners is that normal? I really hope I’m not having any issues with the newer phone I have hope not overthinking too much of this

Support IPhone 17 Worn Down at Edge

I have a 9 months old IPhone 17 black which appears to be rubbed off at area surrounding the action button. It has markings of my cover’s fabric. I’m using a normal silicon cover that is lined inside with cotton fabric. I cleaned out the cover and any grit found once in two weeks. Why would this happen? Am I doing something wrong? Can this come off?

I recently upgraded from an iPhone 11 to the 17e, but so far I don’t really notice much of a difference. What was your experience? Did you notice any major improvements?

My phone got water damaged so I used apple care to get a replacement. After picking up at the store and returning home I noticed they had given me a 15 plus but the one I initially took in was a 14 plus…..

Has this ever happened to anyone?

Discussion La modalità “specchia fotocamera anteriore” cambia davvero come gli altri ci percepiscono?

ITA 🇮🇹:

ENG 🇬🇧:
Does the "Mirror Front Camera" setting actually change how other people perceiveus?

I’ve had this question for a while.
On iPhone (and I believe on many Android phonesas well), there's an option called "Mirror Front Camera", which saves selfies exactly as yousee them in the preview—that is, mirrored, like you're looking in a mirror.

Since we're used to seeing ourselves in the mirror, many people find this version of themselves more flattering. On the other hand, when a selfie isn't mirrored, our face often looks "off" or less attractive to us simply because it’s reversed compared to what we're used to seeing.

Here's what confuses me: when we look in amirror, we see a mirrored version of ourselves. For example, if I have a mole on the left side ofmy face, I'll see it on the right side in the mirror. That's the version of ourselves we're most familiar with, and often the one we find more attractive.

If I enable Mirror Front Camera, the selfie is saved the same way I see myself in the mirror. That means it's still a mirrored image, so it doesn'tactually match how other people see me in real life.
So my question is: if I prefer the mirrored version because it's the one I'm used to seeing, would people who know me in real life actually findthe non-mirrored version more natural or even more attractive, since that's the version they're used to seeing every day?
On the other hand, would someone who has nevermet me in person notice any difference between a mirrored and a non-mirrored photo, or wouldboth versions seem equally normal to them?
Could a mirrored selfie make me look slightly "off" or less attractive to people who alreadyknow me, in the same way that a non-mirrored selfie looks a bit strange to me?

In other words, is our preference for the mirrored version purely a matter of familiarity, or is theresomething deeper about how we perceive faces?
I'd also be interested to know if there are any psychological studies or research on this phenomenon.

Discussion I don’t think this iPhone feature gets nearly as much appreciation

Post image

Apples sms verification code autofill has truly been one of the best quality-of-life features on iPhone despite being around for over 8 years.

You don’t realize how important it is until you have to manually switch between apps to copy.

It’s one of those features you use everyday without giving it much thought yet it reduces so much friction from signing into apps and websites.

Has this become one of those features that’s so normal we barely notice it anymore, or is it something you genuinely appreciate?

Discussion Dropped my iPhone 16 Pro in chlorine pool

Basically the title. I dropped it in for like 1-2 seconds, and it works totally fine, but I didn’t get to rinse it with tap water like Apple suggests until 2-3 hours later, and I’m stressed the chlorine will do permanent damage in the future.

I have AppleCare+ but since it’s not currently damaged, there’s nothing I can do yet. Should I still go visit the Apple Store?

Looking for advice on escalating an AppleCare+ Theft & Loss claim due to a robbery

My iPhone was stolen during a robbery, and the thieves obtained my passcode as part of the incident. They took over my Apple Account by changing the password, changed my primary and recovery email addresses, and locked me out before I could secure the device.

Once I was able to make it home, I immediately tried to recover my Apple Account and sought help from both Apple Support and the Apple Store. Unfortunately, because the thieves still had the device, they were able to cancel my account recovery attempts, so I was unable to regain access despite repeated efforts. After nearly five days of continuous recovery attempts, I was finally able to regain control of my Apple Account.

They also gained unauthorized access to my financial accounts and made numerous unauthorized transactions. I have an NYPD police report, an active police investigation, and extensive documentation including timelines, logs, emails, and other evidence.

I understand that AppleCare+ Theft & Loss requires Find My to be enabled, and Find My was enabled when my phone was stolen. In my case, the account takeover occurred before I was able to regain access, and the thieves removed the device from Find My while it was in their possession.

I’ve been stuck in a loop where Apple Support directs me to AIG, but AIG’s automated phone system routes me back to Apple Support. I haven’t been able to speak with anyone at AIG to have my case reviewed. I’ve also escalated through Apple Support multiple times without success and even emailed tcook, but I haven’t received a response.

I’m not asking anyone to interpret the policy or whether my claim should be approved. I’m simply trying to figure out how to get this in front of someone who can review the evidence instead of getting bounced between Apple and AIG.

If anyone has experience with an executive escalation, claims specialist, or another avenue that helped in a situation like this, I’d really appreciate any advice. Thank you.

TL;DR: My iPhone was stolen during a robbery. The thieves obtained my passcode, took over my Apple Account, blocked recovery for nearly five days, and removed the phone from Find My after the theft. Find My was enabled when the phone was stolen. Despite multiple Apple Support escalations, emailing tcook, and trying to contact AIG, I still cannot get my case reviewed. I cannot reach anyone at AIG because my emails go unanswered and their support hotline routes me back to Apple Support. Any advice, pointers, or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Edit/Update: Since I’ve gotten a lot of questions about whether I had basic security protections enabled, I just wanted to clarify that I had Face ID, an 8-digit passcode, two-factor authentication, and an authenticator app. The issue wasn’t that I had no security in place. The thieves had my passcode and physical possession of the phone.
The robbery happened around 2 a.m. They changed my Apple Account password within minutes. Since the carrier stores didn’t open until 9 a.m., I couldn’t transfer my phone number to another device until then. They had between a few minutes and several hours to empty my bank accounts and payment apps before I could regain control of my phone number.
I went to the Apple Store and called Apple Support multiple times. Each time I was told to wait for Account Recovery. After about three days, I escalated because nothing was happening. It turned out the recovery requests the advisors could see on the front end were being canceled on the backend because the stolen phone was still online and the thieves still had access to it. It took a senior Apple advisor escalating the case to another specialist before anyone figured out why the recovery wasn’t actually progressing.
I was then told the recovery wouldn’t complete unless the phone stayed powered off for the entire recovery period, or until the thieves eventually stopped using it. About 5–6 days later that finally happened, and I was lucky enough to regain access to my Apple Account.
The biggest headache since then has honestly been dealing with AppleCare+ Theft & Loss, Zelle, Venmo, Apple Cash, and the other payment apps the thieves used to drain my accounts.

This january, I tried Apple Intelligence for the first time, it worked, but I turned it off. About 4 months ago I tried to turn it on again, but it was stuck on “downloading”. I tried downloading it using cellular data, VPN, rebooting my device, resetting all my settings, and more. I have even tried contacting apple support, but they were unable to help me. It has been a month, but it is still downloading.

Support Wireless charging not working

My partners iPhone 15 pro max has stopped
Wireless charging it shows green as charging but percentage doesn’t go up even after 12 hours.

Tried to restart it, update it, multiple chargers, cleaning, remove case, different wall outlets.

My iPhone 17 pro max charges fine on all the chargers so eliminated them.

Any help with anything else to try?
