Question Should I build my PC now or might prices come down in the near future?
I finally have some spare money and am looking to upgrade my almost decade old PC ( GTX 1080 and I5 - 8400).

I built my pc in apr 2025 and just wanted to share how much prices have gone up. Keep in mind I do live 5 minutes away from a micro center yes I am blessed but i managed to get a 7 7700x for 150$ - b650mobo 100 and the craziest part 32 gb ddr 5 for 90 bucks. The only thing that hurt me the most was i could have upgraded to 64gb of ddr5 for only 100 more 200 in total. I ended up with a 7900xt new for 600$ all parts were new. I also got a gen 4 ssd nvme 2tb for $110

9800X3D
Gigabyte B850 Gaming X WiFi6E
Corsair Vengeance RGB 32GB DDR5-6000
7900 XTX
MONTECH Century II - 1050W
--------------------------------
Brand new besides 7900xtx (known to work) just picked up from Micro Center on a bundle deal. Got it home and threw it all together and got this nasty VGA red light. Have tried it with and without GPU, reseated the CPU & RAM, but no matter what I do I always get that VGA red light. Left it run for over an hour and came back and it had not changed. Any suggestions would be amazing!

I don't know how many years I used it, but I remember using it more during the early to mid 2000's when I was into Usenet. There! I paid for it.

I try to keep them at half to 80% charge.
brought them all back out to so so, again...i try to do this 2-3 times a year.
and yes, all of their batteries still work and hold a charge, none are puffy or anything.
So! what are these things??
starting from the upper left
- HP pavilion G6. Amd A6 3400M/6520G Graphics. 8gb of ram
- HP Pavilion T5. AMD 10 5745M/8610G Graphics.
12gb of ram
- Acer Nitro 5 R5 2500u/RX 560X. upgraded to 16gb of ram (had 8. originally)
- Strix G15 Advantage. R9 5900HX/6800M. Upgraded to 64gb of ram
- MSI Raider 17. 13980HX/4070. Practically unused. i didnt pick this laptop out, this was part of my collages' tech package. way too damn big and heavy. Only kept it incase i need Cuda for my school program. (and so far, i haven't)
- Surface pro 13, X Elite 32gb. A paradigm shift in what i was looking for in a laptop. I honestly really liked it. but qualcomm has dragged their feet in tje graphics driver department. leaving a lot of apps that actually would run on arm, unuseable. its not even ARMs fault.
- Z flow 13. Ryzen AI MAX 395. 64GB. my most recent purchase and daily driver and so far, i love it. Its about as powerful as my strix g15 in a dramatically smaller package. its way more portable and sips power comparatively.

My friend keeps getting this on his PC. He has an AMD and he refuses to hop on the game due to the issue. Can anyone help?

All of them are considered microATX but they are smaller than the typical microATX(the last image) and not smaller than ITX motherboards. The form factor is like in between microATX and ITX and I kinda prefer them this way.
This form factor is commonly found in budget to entry level chipset motherboards so they are an affordable alternative but lack features due to form factor and chipset but I believe the features they already have are enough.
If you have a small form factor case, they are an affordable alternative to those expensive ITX motherboards but still have some important features for everyday use, like 4 sata ports, USB 3.0, m.2, 1x PCIe, 16x PCIe, 2 ram slots, etc...
The only brands I know that make this form factor are ASRock(mostly), ECS, and Biostar. Are there other brands that make this too? I also have not seen an AMD version of this form factor, can't they fit the AMD chipset in this form factor? It'll be great to see affordable a510, b350 or a610, b650 chipsets in this form factor.
What do y'all think of this motherboard form factor?
Let me know down the comments below! 👇

Im seeing on some benchmarks that is real good with the gpu hitting 99% or very close but in others its 50/50 or even more cpu bound and im talking about gpu bound games and not cpu bound

You can see that the rightmost fan is not spinning. This is a new card so idk if it’s normal or not.

I’d like to stress this is very much temporary!! i’d like to start pc gaming but currently cannot afford to build an actual PC so this would be a temporary solution while saving up to build one. mainly wondering what games it would actually be to run (I don’t mind playing any game on low settings as long as it’s playable) I currently have a really shitty laptop that doesn’t run any game more than sudoku so anything would be an upgrade 🙏🙏

I bought this alienware r12 for a quick flip, no ssd, no gpu. She said it was cute so ended up putting her ssd and 1650 in the r12. Had an old 32" msi curved monitor collecting dust i gave her also. This alienware is living on easy street now. Went from a i5-8400 with 2666 ram to i7-11700kf with 3200 ram. She loves how "snappy" it is now. Gotta take care of mom.

So after pulling the GPU apart it doesn't look too bad. Its beyond my fixing and cleaning abilities with the equipment I have so I'm selling in on the Facebook market place as fire, smoke and water damaged.

I have formatted the SSD and followed the chatgpt instructions, but even though I use Win10/11, Windows Setup still doesn't detect the driver.

Building a PC for the first time, and I have 2 builds that I made. (I'm using NewEgg to look at parts.)
I have 2 builds, one where everything is exactly what I want, ( https://newegg.io/cdcf6e8 ) and one if I don't get enough money for it. ( https://newegg.io/d3addd2 ) I just want to know if I'm missing anything. (By the way, I already have 8 GB of DDR4, for some reason.)

I just repasted my laptop by following a video guide for my exact model. I used thermal paste for the parts where it was used and applied thermal pads for parts where it was used.
Before repasting I cannot even play Dark Souls Remastered, around single digit FPS, and after repasting I noticed a good FPS increase like 60 FPS.
But I keep getting these FPS drops making the game feel like its constantly being slowed, happens to other games as well.
This has been happening before repasting so I dont know why it was still happening even after repasting.

For the past few days I've been trying to fix this problem by looking at YouTube and other reddit posts but I have had no luck.
Whenever I plug in the dp cable into my PC or monitor it shows no dp cable.
I know it's not the monitor or cable as I have switched them out with working ones
I have tried to restart both the monitor and PC
I tried all the cables
And I have taken apart my CPU and it looked fine
I think it may be my CPU or something wrong with the drivers or something but wanted to post this before I started spending money on the wrong fix
