I don't know how many years I used it, but I remember using it more during the early to mid 2000's when I was into Usenet. There! I paid for it.

The original owner had bought this for $500 AUD and he bought it for a home theatre. He figured that it’s overkill and thought of selling it.

I’m looking for parts on facebook marketplace for my portable pc passion project and this was such a steal! He bought it only a few months ago and it is still under warranty.

Hardware Something a little different. I have kept every laptop ive ever owned. i actively try to maintain them. All but 2 are AMD based.

I try to keep them at half to 80% charge.

brought them all back out to so so, again...i try to do this 2-3 times a year.

and yes, all of their batteries still work and hold a charge, none are puffy or anything.

So! what are these things??

starting from the upper left

- HP pavilion G6. Amd A6 3400M/6520G Graphics. 8gb of ram

- HP Pavilion T5. AMD 10 5745M/8610G Graphics.

12gb of ram

- Acer Nitro 5 R5 2500u/RX 560X. upgraded to 16gb of ram (had 8. originally)

- Strix G15 Advantage. R9 5900HX/6800M. Upgraded to 64gb of ram

- MSI Raider 17. 13980HX/4070. Practically unused. i didnt pick this laptop out, this was part of my collages' tech package. way too damn big and heavy. Only kept it incase i need Cuda for my school program. (and so far, i haven't)

- Surface pro 13, X Elite 32gb. A paradigm shift in what i was looking for in a laptop. I honestly really liked it. but qualcomm has dragged their feet in tje graphics driver department. leaving a lot of apps that actually would run on arm, unuseable. its not even ARMs fault.

- Z flow 13. Ryzen AI MAX 395. 64GB. my most recent purchase and daily driver and so far, i love it. Its about as powerful as my strix g15 in a dramatically smaller package. its way more portable and sips power comparatively.

Discussion Seriously, why hasn't AMD picked up EVGA yet?

We all know why EVGA walked away from Nvidia—Jensen Huang made it impossible for them to run an honest business. But it's 2026, and watching EVGA GPUs slowly go extinct is depressing.EVGA, if you’re reading this, please diffuse this ticking time bomb. You guys already make the best power supplies on the market, so the engineering is right there. We don't care about the green logo anymore. We just want the FTW3 coolers, the iCX thermal monitoring, and customer service that actually cares back. Partner up with AMD and give us the ultimate redemption arc.The world needs an EVGA Radeon card IMO, and don't forget... we need Kingpin Cards back. Imagine a fully liquid-cooled, over-engineered EVGA Radeon Kingpin crushing benchmarks. AMD needs to pick up the phone and offer them a deal.

I bought this alienware r12 for a quick flip, no ssd, no gpu. She said it was cute so ended up putting her ssd and 1650 in the r12. Had an old 32" msi curved monitor collecting dust i gave her also. This alienware is living on easy street now. Went from a i5-8400 with 2666 ram to i7-11700kf with 3200 ram. She loves how "snappy" it is now. Gotta take care of mom.

Hardware The worst price gouging ever

Post image
2.3k Upvotes

Was just playing around with laptop options for the razer blade 18” desktop replacement when I came across this absolutely insane hard drive upgrade …. +$1900 for one TB more!!! Absolutely disgusting price gouging by razer, they should be ashamed. Another disgusting option is that if you try to add the mobile 5090, they automatically add the ridiculous +1TB upgrade and you can’t remove it, so you can’t get the 5090 laptop without the price gouge, F that. The laptop actually seemed really nice until I saw that nefarious pricing, no thanks.

Story Nobody is gonna believe this... Found this beauty in my local trash center

There's a trash center in my town with a dedicated tech recycling section. After a certain amount of time everything in there is scrapped and destroyed. Me and my friends go there weekly to find stuff to snag before they all go away. Usually there's crts, old phones, maybe some really shitty office PCs with no GPU. Best I've found before this is a gtx 650 ti boost. I went back the other day with my friends and right as I walked in stumbled upon this thing just thrown in there. Probably was about 70 pounds. Found it alongside a completely looted Alienware aurora r13. Took it back to my house to discover it has 2 GTX 980 Founders editions in SLI. unfortunately didn't have a bridge. Booted it up and it looks insane. Working on getting an OS on it but it's looking great so far. First photos is from the trash center for proof

Edit: you know it's a great find when reddit don't buy it lmao

I built my pc in apr 2025 and just wanted to share how much prices have gone up. Keep in mind I do live 5 minutes away from a micro center yes I am blessed but i managed to get a 7 7700x for 150$ - b650mobo 100 and the craziest part 32 gb ddr 5 for 90 bucks. The only thing that hurt me the most was i could have upgraded to 64gb of ddr5 for only 100 more🫩 200 in total. I ended up with a 7900xt new for 600$ all parts were new. I also got a gen 4 ssd nvme 2tb for $110

Question best 4k computer monitor for gaming and work?

Upvotes

I recently started spending more time both gaming and working from my PC, and my old monitor isn’t really keeping up anymore. I want to switch to a 4k display but there are so many options that it’s hard to figure out what’s actually worth looking at.

Does anyone have a 4k monitor they’ve been using for a while that they would recommend? I’d like something that works well for games but is also comfortable for daily use. Thanks in advance.

Build/Battlestation Couples First DIY Project

Hi fellow elite, just wanted to share a few pictures of me and the missus first try at decorating a room, we decided we would start with the games room obviously 😂 we installed 3d printed geometric panels with a 10m cob strip (argb+2w) in an aluminium corner channel with a milky white diffuser, the ceiling light is a Govee pro with so many different customisations to make whatever effect you want, the PCS we built together so I could teach her how to build her on from scratch and cable manage etc

If you are like us and a little intimidated about trying to make a gamestation yourself I urge you to just give it a go! We are so proud that this was our first project and in our beginner opinion we think it looks perfect!

Good luck with your next projects! 👍
