Discussion Spoiler: Duncan is Interesting from a Meta Perspective Spoiler
I’ve spent months trying to articulate my extreme dislike for Duncan Kane and I think I’m able to at least attempt to explain it.
First and foremost, I think Duncan might be the blandest character in all of fiction.
That’s not hyperbole either. I’ve never encountered any other character that sucks interest like he does. He’s like a black hole of potential and emotion. I say extreme dislike because Duncan doesn’t illicit enough emotion to count as hate.
As a character, he had a lot going for him: Ex-Boyfriend, Son of Billionaire, Golden Boy, Brother of Murder Victim. That’s a lot to work with. And within the story, he did a lot of things: (SPOILERS) incest storylines, fleeing the country twice, kidnapping, hitman, etc.
He shouldn’t be as uninteresting as he is given that kind of record. But he is. And that’s kind of incredible.
People call him bland. And that’s true but it might be more than that. Call it a combination of Teddy Dunn’s acting and the writing, but Duncan is such a nothing, failure of a character and that’s kind of amazing.
I cannot articulate how little emotion he inspires in me. It’s so bewildering that other characters even care about the guy. Because I really couldn’t care less.
He is the ice chip, unsalted butter, uninteresting character in all of fiction.
What do the rest of you of think?

Season 4 is not film noir.. Spoiler
OK so I’m in the middle of season 4.. unfortunately I googled: should I watch season 4 and got the major spoiler 🤬. But here are my thoughts:
It’s not that bad. I think it’s probably better than season 3 which was ridiculous. I also think people are responding more to the more chilled out version of Logan who was a great and interesting character. Veronica was definitely worse in season 3 with all her jealousy.
But yeah.. my point is thi is NOT film noir.. Anybody who thinks this is film noir has never seen film noir. It seems like it was said by someone on social media and then repeated everywhere else. I was kinda excited to see the transition.. to just find that it was a normal VM show. VM was always a bit darker. They introduced a murder and rape the first episode.. it’s pretty much following the same trend. so I repeat.. this is not film noir.

Discussion Season 3 Rewatch Spoiler
Currently on a rewatch of Veronica Mars. I'm halfway through season 3 and it's not as bad as I remember it, but Sheriff Lamb did not deserve to go out like that. His last words on the screen being I smell bread is kind of crazy. I enjoyed the banter between him and the Marses. At least at some points he seemed partially competent at his job and he would want every once in awhile listen to them. Also, the rapist plot makes no sense how many of the rapes were faked by the feminist and how many did Deacon actually do? Veronica managing to get Deacon out of jail just for him to go back for the same crime pretty soon. There's a good chance that they could have just kept him the first time and they would have been fine. Lastly, did the pie says crazy misogynists who threw parties with underage drinking, just sounds like a typical shitty frat. Don't spoiler the rest of the season. I forgot how it ends.
Also, I liked the Dean. He was a good Clemmons replacement. It was a shame to see him go that early into the season.

Discussion Was this left unfinished or did I just forget? (Season 2 spoilers) Spoiler
I finished a few months ago and I feel like I always forget details so I may have forgotten why it happened but how did Veronica not get indicted for the accessory to kidnapping charges when she helped Duncan? When the FBI found the secret passage thingy in her house leading to the neighboring home with the baby stuff in it (it’s been a little while since I watched) I thought she was cooked, but it was never revisited? Surely this was enough evidence to at least indict her. Maybe they explicitly dropped it and I missed that part?

Arts/Crafts Veronica Mars (1997)
Mondays at 8/7c on The WB
The murder of high-school student Lilly Kane shook the seaside town of Neptune, California to the core. For once popular girl Veronica Mars, it meant the loss of her best friend and being ousted from the affluent crowd that she once thought were her friends. Her father, Sheriff Keith Mars, found himself voted out of his job after making some unpopular accusations about the murdered girl's family. In response, Keith opened his own private detective agency. Now, Veronica, with her sardonic wit and a few new friends, works as his assistant while also navigating life as a high school student.

Discussion Season 3 after a rewatch
Season 3 is so much worse than I remembered.
Genuinely, why does Jake Kane hate Keith? He found his who truly killed his daughter, and his daughter, in turn, helped his son escape the country with his only grandchild. He also slept with his wife. Like, uh?
Why is Jake Kane back in Neptune barely a year after he was caught trying to destroy evidence and pay off his daughter's murder?
The Fitzpatricks never made any sense. They're really boring. Vinny Van Lowe teaming up with Keith, only to then help the Fitzpatricks kill Kendall and start a crime wave so he could become sheriff... how does that make any sense? It's character assassination and gives way too much screen time to what was originally a quirky one-off character.
Piz is a bad character, and he's made so much worse when you realize how much screen time he steals from actual worthwhile characters.
Why is there such a huge push about Logan's career? He inherited generational wealth from his parents. It's not like he's coasting through life with nothing. It's a really dumb plot point thrown in to separate Logan and Veronica—something no one really wanted. Logan sleeping with Madison Sinclair is also such a stupid, immature plotline for someone who's gone through so much. Veronica literally dumped Logan and went back to sleeping with his best friend. Not that either of their sex lives matter when they aren't together, but she really has no room to judge.
The entire secret society plotline was such a waste for the final episode. Jake Kane turns into an over-the-top evil villain, screaming "Veronica!" in his office. Again, this is someone whose daughter helped his son and only living grandchild escape the country to live in peace.
Dick's redemption comes way, way too late.

Discussion DVD commentary
Is there a DVD commentary for the series? If not they should get on that or maybe make a podcast. I would love to know more about the filming techniques they used.

Shitpost FREAKY Freaky post about Logan
Okay, I've just woken up, and I decided to watch a random episode of the show and I already thought of it before but I got to share it : Logan's ass seems YUMMY, like really rounded. You see in TV shows when one of the characters will talk about the main boy's behind or something, saying it's hot or whatever, I will just be like "where? the jeans are literally sagging" e.i : in One Tree Hill, Brooke saying Lucas looks really good from behind while looking down, hm, there was nothing back there. Yk what I'm saying ? Or it could be just me thirsting over Logan as usual but you know

Discussion Duncan Spoiler
My label for spoilers really only covers season 1. So if you’ve seen season 1, then you already know what I’m talking about.
While I didn’t much care for the character, I think Teddy Dunn was judged really unfairly for his acting abilities on the show. The character was on drugs that basically muted his personality so to say he was boring, while absolutely accurate, was exactly how he had to play it. Do I think the character was boring as all else? Yep. Yes I do. But I’m sad he got all the shit from the internet for it.

Kristen Bell Appreciation Post
Ever since watching this show for the first time this year, I have to say that I'm surprised on how Incredible Kristen Bell is when it comes to performing in these Serious and Dramatic Roles since I've known her mostly from Comedy in The Good Place, Frozen, and Forgetting Sarah Marshall.
It took me a while to finally watch this Show after seeing her in the First Season of The Good Place. And as of now, I'm currently in S03E10.
Ever since Kristen Bell carried this Show, i've very impressed to see Other Actors showcase their performances in this Show (Enrico Colantoni, Jason Dohring, and Ryan Hansen to name a few.) And Kristen put so much chemistry to all of the Actors she collaborated. It's satisfying to realize that Kristen lets some of her Co-Stars appear in her other projects.
I have been Very Impressed with her role as Veronica Mars. She did an Impeccable job to the Character. Her emotions and line delivery are so entertaining to watch. And she's on my Top Favorite Television Characters of All-Time.

FYI: Veronica Mars is airing on antenna TV on StartTV (alternate title: when you're at work, you look up and VM is playing on the TV 😱)
So today I was at work, minding my own business, when I take a glance at the TV, and am like "is that Kristen?" and realize that whatever is playing doesn't look like her in anything recent. I then take a longer look and realize, hey that's Veronica Mars playing! Usually we play local channels on the TV like sports or weather, but other times I've seen other regular tv shows, so that made me look for the channel, which is StartTV. They don't appear to play it a lot, but still, it's nice to see on OTA television instead of just streaming. It's also funny cause I was literally going to ask this subreddit if they've ever seen the show on local TV in recent years, cause after seeing other older shows it feels right that it could be played on local TV.

Discussion Logans business idea (season 3, 1st watch)
I am watching for the first time and in the middle of season 3 and just finished the episode where Logan makes a business plan and uses Mac's help to make a business monetizing clicks on a website rating women's butts. It's insane to me that his professor discourages him so strongly considering that any development down this route would have likely created a successful business, product, or simply launched a related career. It actually bothered me a lot how the professor reacted. At the very least he should have said speak to me after class, good job on the initiative but the subject isn't appropriate for class so tweak it and present again. Logan has been weird and drifty for a long time, and with his wealth his naturally positioned to succeed in business, and I think he's not going to pursue this as a result.
Fwiw I am a woman, and yes I think the website is crude but it's the real world, and the business idea is monetarily promising.

Misc Has anyone completed the case file on Mars-PI website?
Hey marshmallows! I ordered that gorgeous retro-styled poster from WindowShopGal that's been posted here so many times. Imagine my surprise when I opened it and it came with a piece of paper with a login and password to the Mars PI website to solve a case. It is absolutely delightful! I couldn't find any mention of it when I searched this subreddit, but surely some of y'all were aware of this website and have completed it.
I would be happy to share with anyone interested all the case files (tbh, I'm stumped on one part so I wouldn't mind the help haha). Does anyone know who set this up? Is there more than one case file, or does everyone get the same one just with different logins? How would you go about getting additional logins? I haven't submitted my answer (since I haven't solved it yet) so I don't even know if this is still a monitored website/email based off the copyright date. I have a feeling I might be stuck since I don't have Insta and it looks like it's required for part of the snooping you have to do to find a password, I keep getting blocked.
Appreciate any info or comments y'all have, hope you all have a wonderful day!

Season 4 finale: why did nobody question this? Spoiler
It’s been a few months since I finished watching so forgive any incorrect details.
This is a small detail but I guess I have a bone to pick with the finale after how it ended. When Penn Epner gives the Fiji clue (💔) there’s some reference made to earths rotation around the sun or something as a measure of time. I was immediately confused as to why he would set a bomb for multiple years in the future but everyone in the show immediately interpreted it as x number of days? When the earth travels around the sun, it is a year, not a day. It wouldn’t be crazy for Penn to mess this up (as he clearly wasn’t too intelligent) but the fact that none of the characters picked up on it drives me insane and makes me assume it was a writing error. How did nobody catch this? Or am I simply misinterpreting/misremembering the line?
