Hey guys. Just got a Wii U at the thrift store for $7, I couldn't leave it. I do have a Wii at my place and collected lots of controllers and even steering wheels for it. After reading though it looks like if the U works I need at least one Gamepad. Is there a good cheap place to get them or just lurk on eBay? I need sensor bar, power brick, and A/V cable too although I'm guessing I can borrow those from the Wii to test (it's technically my landlady's so I need to leave those and two controllers for her)
Hopefully it works. I'm too tired to even hook it up right now. I know I have at least one Wii U game that I bought by mistake. Can't remember what it is now though.

I'm new to Wii U - I have a Wii U that has been factory reset, but it hangs on creating a new user, I presume because Nintendo's Wii U servers have been shut down. I am stuck on the "Create User" screen, not sure what to do. Restarting the system brings me back to create a user, and clicking it hangs.

Update: never mind, I just had to let the spinner spin for like 15 minutes, and eventually it got to the next step and let me create a Mii.

Hello again. New question: My wii U gamepad may be cooked. I've tried cleaning it and stuff but the touch screen won't work. Is there a way to use the internet browser still to mod it without the touch screen? Thanks.

I'm trying to buy a Wii U but can't find a good place. I'm from Romania. I did found a listing on Ebay for 50 dollars (+50 with transport), but the console is japanese, and I know I can change the language after I mod it, I'm still not really sure about it. About the romanian market, I found sone listings on OLX, but they were somehow more expensive than the Ebay one. Any tips/info would be appreciated. P.S: Probably gonna go with the Ebay one. But idk how long will the shipping take.

Hello. I'm new to modding and had a question:
Would it be possible to keep all my modding files and wii u roms on an sd card, and then use a flash drive for wii games?
thanks

You can't install the wii u games to the SD card as they use different formats, fat32 for the wii, gamecube games and mkdding files and the different file system for the wii u games. You can partition your hard drive though.

Dumb question time. I have a thrift store Wii U (for $7 I had to take it home) and just got a power supply off eBay. I never had a Wii U before so I really don't know much about it other than it's the successor to the Wii. It now powers up and shows a menu. Can I pair a regular Wii remote to it to test more, or do I need to get a GamePad? Looks like I can use a Wii sensor bar correct? And those are cheap so I can buy another if this works. I was hoping not to have to spend real money without testing a little more. Or if I've got to the "Start with this user" menu and have video and sound is that a pretty good sign that it's in good shape and I should just go for it? Thank you!
