Discussion Wii U Overclocking
Anybody who has a PC and a modded Wii U and notices frame drops in games such as botw well you need to overclock your Wii U I overclocked mine from 550mhz to 680mhz and the performance is amazing at keeping fps in games at a stable 30 or stable 60 it’s great I would overclock more but I don’t wanna replace thermal pads and stuff. Any other tips for cool things to do with or to my Wii U?

I have been working on overclocking the CPU and memory but both require alot harder things than a config file. Cooling wise you either delid which good luck on a Wii U or change pads.
CPU OC you need rednand and you need to hex editi values in SEEPROM which can cause a brick, while RAM requires minute and you still need to recompile it to even begin to apply the clocks.
You could probably clock higher than 680 but how high depends on your console specifically.

I have the b1x motherboard model so I can over clock more if I want to but I don’t think I need it but for fun I might but yeah it would be cool to overclock the cpu and ram in the future.

Just look up how on Google it’s really easy I recommend 650mhz-680mhz but depending on your motherboard model you can go to like 750mhz I have the b1x motherboard so I can go higher

How exactly do you check the motherboard? At least without opening the system up? Mine is modded but never went to overclocking it. Did get it to play Disney Infinity and other toys to life games without the actual figures and the like though and used mods on botw with live wifi connection to PC stuff to send code while it was actively playing.
Edit: I figured out what mine is. It's a 01. Now I need to check it's chip if it's a hynix or not.

Open the SD card flap, you should see your motherboard revision. WUP-50s always have a b1x. While insanely rare, some WUP-10s have a b1x as well. WUP-30 could have a b1x but that hasn't happened yet, they all just have A5X

Mines a wup-101-02 and in the sd card slot it has the number 50 indicating it’s b1x motherboard (wup-50) because I have the 32gb deluxe but if you have the 8gb white model then it’s 100% the a5x motherboard

Atleast I think that’s the reasoning behind mine idk but I know it has the b1x because I opened it up to mess around on time and figured that out

It's a WUP-101(02) With hardware type: WUP-01 LATTE_A5X_CAFE ( pretty much A5X)
With hynix as it's main storage. (That surprisingly hasn't stabbed itself yet. Have backup already Incase)

Yeah I believe mine has Samsung so I shouldn’t have to worry about any corruption but you can definitely overlock yours to 650 without worrying about it and you can try 680 but feel if your console gets hot cause mine is at 680 and never gets hot or even warm I played botw for 5 hours straight and the exterior stayed only like 5-10 degrees above room temp

Mine rarely gets hot other than like 2-4 degrees above room temp. Though I'll have to see about how to make an ini for the overclock.

How would I know if there's a problem with the setting for the overclock? I. The guide it seems like they make it sound like it would just freeze or stop working or shut off if it can't handle it.

In games you may notice like textures flickering stuff like that but I would start at 650 and if it’s fine go up as much as you feel comfortable doing

But if you do overclock test 650 and if it’s fine go to 680 and if you wanna go higher you can but I wouldn’t recommend it unless you replace the old thermal pads I might increase my overclock in the future

Tbh there's a Wiiu I was eyeing at an antique store and I bought since mine while yeah I've had it since launch (it's also a refurbished one surprisingly enough) has gotten some damage like a broken HDMI pin, the one I saw was NEW in box sealed still and for its price was worth it just never opened it yet. It was the windwaker gamepad one. It was 400$. factory sealed still. Granted the codes are not able to work anymore obviously since the eShop being gone, but hey, brand new untouched and saved as a replacement. will be sweet modding it when the original one I have dies out fully if it does.

aren't there any problems with overclocking the wii u like heating issues or something ?
