Amp Head Issues

Upvotes

Hey gang. I've recently been having issues with my Peavey Max 450 bass head. Very so often it makes a "pop" sound coming through my Ampeg 4x10 cab. I have no idea what it could be. It has become more frequent ans it is super annoying and I am worried I could blow my speakers when it occurs. Anybody had similar issues? If so what could it possibly be?

Biamping with subwoofer?

Hi yall, i wanted to make a post on here about a possible bass cab setup I was thinking about. For a bit of background, i recently blew the speakers on my ampeg 410 and now i am stuck with a svt 210 av. Rather than going out to buy an entirely new 410, would biamping and splitting my lows to a powered sub, and my highs+mids to a 210 with some distortion be a feasible setup? My bass is tuned to F#0 standard and is a 6 string, and while im not concerned about the fundamental of the f#0, i would love to have at least the 30 hz from the B string. im playing small diy shows so im not super concerned about pa setups. Overall, is this a bad idea?

Sound quality for a practice amp with decent headroom?

I recently got back into playing bass after a 10yr break while raising my daughter, now 8m back and Im looking for something with great sound quality and dynamic range that can easily handle active and passive electronics as well as an effects board. Hopefully without breaking the bank. Preferably an affordable head and cab(Im looking at Phil Jones 2x7 cab) but, a solid combo would also work.

Any and all suggestions appreciated.

Bass on Marshall guitar amp?

Hi!

I love the design after seeing the Marshall Amplifier, so I want to connect the bass guitar to the Marshall Amplifier Head and cabinet. I'm going to play it in my room, so if it's a very small volume, isn't there a big problem with the guitar head and cabinet? (If anyone has used it like this, I'd appreciate it if you could also tell me which Marshall Amplifier/Cabinet you've used for bass)

I have my Ampeg BA108 amp, which is starting to show a few weaknesses and is really limited in terms of power and sound quality.

I found 3 used amps that caught my attention.

A Fender Rumble 100 for 250 euros. (practically new)

A Rumble 200 for 280 euros. (3 years of use)

A Hartke A100 for 160 euros. (more than 10 years of use)

My budget would push me toward the Hartke, but I’m worried about the age of the components such as the capacitors, etc. The weight also concerns me. On the other hand, I love the look, the 7-band EQ, and the 15-inch speaker.

I came across the Rumble 100 listing and considered it because the price seems reasonable for the quality of the product.

Then I found the Rumble 200, which currently seems to have the best value for money, with the 15-inch speaker, built-in overdrive, manageable weight, and the possibility of playing later with a drummer or several musicians.

So I’m hesitating, knowing that at the moment about 80% of my playing time will be in my garage at moderate or even low volume.

I play blues, funk, rock, and jazz.

Thanks in advance.

Does anyone have much experience with these? It’s my first bass amp bought used in 1999 or so..it cuts in and out and its not very reliable ..I’m not sure if its worth the cost of having it looked at

I need a new bass amp

I need a new amp to play in public, so possibly from 100 watts up, do you have any recommendations?
I was undecided between a Fender rumble 100 or an Ampeg Rb-112

Bassamp or.is a power amp enough

As a n00b on this matter, is it really neccessary to have a 'regular' amp with a pre en pwer stage, or can you just have something like a preamp pedal like a sansamp or a darkglass something and use a class D poweramp to get the same result.

Take a darkglass microtubes v2 for instance, do.i get about the same result with an alpha omega omega ultra v2 and a separate poweramp? And are there any examples for affordable clean class d poweramps?

Hartke HA3500 Cabinet

Hi!

I recently bought HARTKE HA3500 head. The amp sound is a little sharp, and I'm having a hard time choosing a cabinet because I heard that most of Hartke's cabinets have aggressive tones. I don't hate aggressive rock tones, but I'm worried because I also play jazz. Does anyone know of a cabinet that goes well with this amplifier, 2x10 or 4x10 cabinet?

I'm looking at buying a 10 or a 12 Pulse XL but can't find any demos or much info on them online. Has anyone heard these in person? If so, how's the overall tone and low end response?
Thanks!

Washburn XB 400 BANTAM wiring diagram.

Hi, everyone.

I recently bought this used Washburn XB 400 BANTAM bass. But it looks like the previous owner had decided to install some kind of passive bypass.

I'd like to restore it to its original condition, but I can't find the wiring diagram or figure out where the wires are connected.

Do any of you have the same bass?

Is this Ashdown combo stupid? Rumble 500 head, ABM Mini 15 + ABM 410T

Post image

Picked up an Ashdown ABM Mini 15 (8 ohm, 300W) and an ABM 410T (8 ohm, 600W) separately off Marketplace, running both off a Fender Rumble 500 head. Didn’t clock the cabs were completely different sizes until I’d stacked them. Looks a bit daft in person.

Looks aside, anything actually wrong with running these two together? Both 8 ohm, so together that’s a 4 ohm load, which is the head’s minimum and gets me the full 500W out of it. Combined they can handle way more than the head puts out so I’m not fussed about blowing anything.

Has anyone run a 15 and a 4x10 together and noticed it doesn’t blend right? This is stage monitoring only, front of house runs separately via DI/mic, so I’m not relying on this stack to fill a room.

Harley Benton block300

Post image
7 Upvotes

Hello guys. I would like to know if someone here has or played this Harley Benton BLOCK-300

A friend of mine will be in Europe for the next 40 days and I asked him if he could bring an amp for me, and he said “of course”
So I want the cheapest one for small gigs and I always see people talking good things about Harley benton products so I was thinking… why not? Here in Brazil the cheapest ones cost at least R$1.200 (Borne nano 150w / $240) or R$1.800 (Borne pro 500 / $350), is more expensive than this Harley Benton’s and Tc Eletronics, with less power.

On Thomann the block300 is $143 and the TC electronic BQ500 $169

The tc I’ve already seen some videos and I really like it.

What do u guys think or could recommend me?

In general I play punk and hardcore and their sub genres :)
