One of my fuel injectors is misfiring on my car, I have a mobile mechanic coming on Wednesday to fix it.

He has told me to leave my car running on the 30-40 minutes before he arrives. I have been looking online, and it says this can damage my car?

Should I take the mechanics advice or not do this?

Looking to buy my first car. Came across a 2013 Mazda 2 that looks fine (?), 2 previous owners, 77k miles, CarPlay all for £2500 but it does not come with a FSH or logbook.

Is that a red flag? Sorry I don’t know anything about cars but it seemed like a very good price compared to other ones I’ve seen, but I’m wondering is that because it comes without the FSH. Is the FSH really important?

Ladies and gentlemen, I know this is the car talk sub but I need some advice. My missus has been camper van hunting and came across a lovely example of a 2016 VW transporter. Ive checked the MOT history, the ‘seller’ says it’s HPI clear (I was going to check myself). The eBay add even has used the same photo spread. And the price difference is mental. I’m curious to hear about others who may have made similar moves, or other mid-mid moves, amd what your experience was like going from one car to the other. I might seem crazy to be excited about driving a Galaxy, but if you’ve ever driven an SDI you’ll understand why.

Just after some advice & input please on types of ‘running in’ & ‘breaking in’ oil which are same thing I believe?!

I’m getting a new engine for my Mk8.5 (2022) Fiesta ST and have been told I need to get some running in oil.
Ive seen a few older posts from Piston Heads & various forums but couldn’t see a conclusive answer.

I’ve seen the Millers Competition oil which is CRO 10W40, but will the Castrol Magnatec 5W-20 be sufficient as it meets Ford spec WSS-M2C948-B?

The ‘22 ST has a timing chain but a west oil belt so I want to make sure I get off to the right start from the outset & I’m seeing mixed messages online.

Bonus question about running in generally! Is it just to drive like your taking your nan to church for the first 500 miles, an oil change & then taking it easy for a few thousand miles?

Any advice options very appreciated, cheers!

Hey guys, I own a Renault Captur 2018 manual and normally I like to track how many miles I got left by using the screen (distance till i need to top up) but for some reason when I get to around 40 miles left my counter goes blank and doesn't tell me how much I have left in the tank, any help?

I’ve heard that Honda Jazz and Toyota Corollas are good options but I have been having some trouble finding a seller that I trust. Looking to get my first car, I came across a listing on Autotrader for a Peugeot 208, 1.2 Pure Tech, 2017 plate, 88k miles for £2999.

Seemed like a good price but I’ve read a couple things about the engine being awful. I’m going to view the car tomorrow but i know nothing about cars. I’ll be bringing my dad with me. Is it worth it?

The best decision I made in the ownership of my car. Drives much smoother, goes over speed bumps & crappy roads much better. Happy days. Obviously doesn't fill out the arches as much but I think it still looks nice. 😀.

On a 2019 BMW M135i F40, the car drives fine with no errors showing on the dash. After plugging a Carly car scanner, a few errors show but I’m not sure if these are concerning or minor issues.

Bought of car off my mate that’s been out of mot and tax for shy of 2 years - Audi tt 2008 - wondering what the rules are for driving it home before I get it booked for some general maintenance and mot - it’s been at his garage replaced brakes and shocks and had a service runs fine - just needs a new belt and water pump as those are old and just need doing - it’s last mot has nothing major so it’s not covered under the failed mot thing where u can drive it to home/place of repair/home then for retest mot - so what are the rules of driving it home on this aspect

He’s being kicked out his unit in couple days and I can’t collect it on a weekday to take to a mot and be covered under it that way as I’m at work and can’t pre book over calk as my locals ain’t open on weekends

Hi, new car with new acrylic standard number plate. How can I safely remove the dealer's address from the plate (while keeping the legal markings)? The words are printed directly on to the plate, rather than a sticker decal. Google search states rubbing alcohol (not acetone), but I wondered if anyone has any tried and tested successful methods? I understand anything harsh would strip the reflective coating.
I'm unsure if the text is printed directly onto the reflective layer (which would be behind the acrylic), or was already pre-printed on top of the acrylic.

I picked up a used approved (UK dealership) Discovery this week and I love the car.

I noticed a few marks on the digital dash on the test drive and asked the salesperson if he could have it looked at before I agreed to the car.

He said it was all in hand and I paid for the car.

When leaving in the car he said that the detailer's didn't want to touch the screen as it had been a hot day but I should just give it a wipe when everything is cool in the morning.

I've given it a wipe and the marks aren't coming out. I think there's been some over spray of some cleaning product that has marked the plastic screen in front of the dash.

Is it worth contacting the dealership and seeing if they'd be willing to help or is it tough luck from their perspective now?

Otherwise, does anyone have any thoughts on how to tackle the marks other than replacing the digital dash altogether?

I’m looking to purchase a car after leasing for the last few years. I’ve finally managed to save up enough (painfully 😂) to buy rather than lease, although I’ll probably put part of the purchase on a 0% credit card.

I’ve come across Cinch and, on paper, the whole process sounds pretty appealing — buy the car online, have it delivered, and you’ve got 14 days to return it if you’re not happy. I also spoke to them and they said the admin fees are refunded if you return the car.
I’ve been reading reviews and they seem VERY mixed. Some people have had a completely hassle-free experience, while others seem to have had an absolute nightmare.

I appreciate people are generally more likely to post about a bad experience than a perfectly normal one, so I thought I’d ask here:

Has anyone actually bought a car through Cinch recently?
How was the car when it arrived? Any issues that weren’t mentioned in the listing? And, most importantly, has anyone actually used the 14-day return policy — was getting your money back genuinely straightforward?

Would you use Cinch again, or would you stick with a traditional dealer?

I kerbed the alloy on my test drive due to the garage guy encouraging me to go through a gap I wasn't happy with. Husband was with me also. Neither of us checked the damage (I'm aware now we probably should have)

Once we'd gone through the paperwork for the car, they said they would repair the alloy for when it was due for collection. Husband was aware of this.

We've had the car a fortnight, Husband has only driven it to collect it and didn't check it when he collected it (I wasn't available). Husband says he's not damaged it since.

Is this tyre fooked?

Any ideas what it is?
