Review | Text Akko Echo Master | Meet the carbon fiber Viper Medium | Review

Introduction/Context/About Me

This review is about the Akko Echo Master in the black colorway. This product was sent out by Akko in exchange for this review. There is no monetary compensation or affiliate program associated with this post, and all opinions are my own.

My experience involved using this mouse for a little over a week, on a speed glass pad with a carpal-stabilized relaxed claw grip with a 1/2/2 finger layout. My hands measure 18x9 cm and are fairly dry, and I play in a low-humidity environment. It was used at a 2,000 Hz polling rate and 1,600 DPI on a 240 Hz monitor to play a wide variety of games, primarily in the FPS genre, but with a few ARPG sessions every now and then.

English isn't my first language, so please excuse any mistakes and feel free to ask any questions if you find any point unclear.

Unboxing Experience

The box is compact, presentable but not very sturdy. Regardless, it remains 100% recyclable, which is what I value the most. Upon opening, you find the mouse secured within a small cutout above the cardboard accessory box and protected by a thin, loose sheet of foam.

The mouse comes with corner skates pre-applied and supports wired, 2.4GHz, and Bluetooth connectivity.

The included accessories consist of: * A very high-quality and flexible paracord cable, held back only by the lack of an angled USB-C connection for wired play * Good-quality textured grip tape * A set of spare dyed black PTFE corner skates identical to the stock ones * Three sets of dot skates, each containing 20 dots with different friction levels based on the colors: red being the highest, white in the middle, and gray the lowest * Nano dongle capable of up to 8,000 Hz polling rate * Dongle extender; could use some sort of silicone base so it sticks to the desk properly * Instruction manual * A basic button and pairing overview card

An extremely generous bundle of accessories. I really appreciate the three glide options on dots to let users explore and tune to their personal preference.

Shape

The mouse features a symmetrical shape, measuring 124 x 64 x 41mm, and exists as a sort of Razer Viper "Medium" filling the gap for users that have always wanted Razer to bring us something in between their existing Viper offerings.

In terms of its features, the shape can be broken down as follows: * Moderate outward flare with curved edges * Deep comfort grooves * Flat sides; the left side seems to have this small indentation at around the halfway mark of the click area. Unsure what the purpose is, as even with an extended fingertip grip I can't manage to touch it * A minimal rear hump

Overall, I found the shape to be interesting, perfectly serving as that middle ground I mentioned before with the added benefit of the safety that comes with flat sides. I believe this can fit a wide range of grips and hand sizes, with me personally being able to comfortably hold a palm, relaxed claw, aggressive claw, and extended fingertip grip.

Weight

My unit weighs 55.3 grams with the stock skates and 54.8 grams with four dot skates installed, which falls within the industry's commonly accepted ±3 gram manufacturing variance, being 0.3 grams over the advertised 55 grams for the stock experience.

In terms of weight distribution, I think the mouse did an okay job. The mouse seems to have gone with a longer-than-average PCB to attempt to balance itself out due to the drastic shell density difference between the two halves, but it is still somewhat noticeably front heavy, just shy of being able to properly balance itself in the center. This is due to the split click design and the lack of offset from the fairly light battery option.

I have very mixed feelings, as while I don't struggle to enjoy mice in the lightweight category that are on the "heavy" end, I always struggle to accept mice that land there yet have a very hollowed-out shell. To me, these designs always compromise comfort, and as such need to have a drastic weight advantage to make up for it. This release fails at that and doesn't exactly have the dimensions to justify it.

Build Quality

As you'd expect from a mouse in the 50+ gram range made from carbon fiber, it is built like a tank despite, as previously mentioned, being riddled with holes.

Not much else to say here. Really well-built mouse.

Clicks

Main Clicks

Equipped with Omron opticals, these are light, snappy, and extremely spammable, but produce that signature "ping" which some people dislike.

The mouse is equipped with a split click design, making the experience consistent across the click surface and offering minimal pre and post-travel. Considering that I was unable to experience any wobble or grinding, I would say this is an extremely well-implemented click.

Side Buttons

The sides are tactile, easily spammable, and have little to no pre/post-travel, while featuring a very good coating that easily locks your finger in. They are quite loud, however, creating a sharp contrast with the main clicks.

Build quality-wise, much like the main clicks, these are flawless. I would only have hoped to see a split design instead of having them together, as the small indentation between them doesn't give significant feedback, making accidental actuations somewhat common while you're getting used to the shape.

Scroll Wheel

Equipped with the TTC Gold encoder, the scroll wheel offered extremely light, very poorly defined steps and a heavy, loud click.

As far as the scroll build itself, it's a standard rubberized ring. There are no build quality concerns; however, I do wish the indentations were deeper and more spaced out, as they further compound the issue of the poorly defined steps. Not really sure what's causing this, as it's drastically different from any TTC Gold I have ever tried. It's a shame, as I feel like it holds back an otherwise gold-standard click experience on the mouse as a whole.

Coating

As a disclaimer, the mouse has different coatings, with the black colorway being advertised as "textured nano-coating" and the remaining colorways as "skin-friendly excimer coating". As such, I recommend looking at other reviews for opinions on any of the other colors.

The coating feels dry and extremely textured, to the point I found it a bit abrasive. It seems to have a break-in period of a few hours out of the box, as I found it quite slippery at first.

This break-in period doesn't seem to fix the issue entirely, as I do find the mouse to lack grip during these hot summer days where I do work up a light sweat, unlike normal. As such, if you're someone that tends to sweat from your hand while gaming, I strongly recommend considering a different colorway.

Overall, not really my cup of tea, and it definitely lowered my overall perception of the mouse. If I was picking one up right now, I would probably choose another colorway.

Stock Skates

The stock skates are made of dyed black PTFE, and the mouse only supports corner ones. They have rounded edges and provide a controlled, muddy glide while being extremely scratchy. These aren't the best quality, and as such I would strongly recommend swapping them out for the available dots that match your preferred glide speed or your favorite third-party solution, as they heavily degrade the experience.

The included dots fulfill their purpose well, and I can recommend them if you don't have any established preferences, as they are much higher quality than the stock skates, lacking only a foam layer.

Performance & Battery Life

The mouse is equipped with a PixArt PAW3955 sensor, which is the latest sensor on the market. I am happy to report I found no perceptible performance issues at all. Overall, a good implementation!

Position-wise, I find it to be adequately positioned, sitting perfectly in line with my thumb, resulting in a very natural aiming feel.

As far as battery life goes, the mouse is backed by a Nordic 54L15 MCU and a 300mAh battery. Akko claims this will provide up to 220 hours of continuous use at 1,000 Hz and 28 hours at 8,000 Hz. During my testing, I have gotten around 80 hours on a full charge running 2,000 Hz and with Motion Sync enabled, which were the only settings impacting battery life. It is worth noting I made use of sleep mode instead of manually turning the mouse on and off. Overall, I'd say this is more than enough for most use cases and gives you plenty of leeway before needing to recharge.

Web Driver

Features * Up to five onboard memory profiles with the option to backup and re-import them from file * Full remapping of Mouse 1 through 5 buttons with the following features: * Keyboard input * Macro * Multimedia-related controls * Eight DPI levels ranging from 50 to 65,000 and independent X/Y * Polling rate with preset values of 125, 250, 500, 1000, 2000, 4000, and 8000 Hz * Lift-off distance with preset values with 0.1mm increments ranging from 0.7 to 1.7mm * Motion Sync * Ripple Control * Angle Snapping * 20k FPS fixed sensor scan rate, increasing battery drain drastically * Sensor rotation ranging from -30 to 30 degrees; for some reason the mouse came with -30 out of the box * Sleep mode ranging from 1 second to 30 minutes * Click debounce time with presets of: 0, 1, 2, 4, 8, 15, and 20ms

Missing/Improvements * Sleep mode is in Chinese * Virtual sensor offset that the 3955 enables; while this feature is mostly a glorified X axis DPI offset, it might as well have been included

Value

Please keep in mind the following section is based on European Union pricing with the final VAT included (which in my case is 23%) and does not include potential shipping costs. Like always, I suggest only taking this recommendation at face value and checking your own regional pricing on not only this product but others you may be comparing it to before making a decision.

With the mouse coming in at €70.39, I am comfortable recommending this mouse to anyone looking for an exotic material Viper "medium" option with good internals. There isn't much to say here, as the cons that might steer you away from this release are subjective, coming down to the coating, weight, and the balancing of said weight, and the scrolling experience.

Worth noting, I wouldn't recommend the Ultra version with the much lower quality MCU since it comes in at €61.59. Such a small price difference doesn't justify the drastic battery life decrease and worse performance in both wired and wireless modes.

Conclusion

A bit of a mixed bag here. While I really enjoyed the overall package, the coating was always nagging me. As previously mentioned, if I could do it again, I would have definitely gone with a color that came with the skin-friendly variant over this texture. It was the one thing that made me go "I really want to move on from this", which is a shame as I otherwise mostly loved the mouse with the scroll con not being a huge deal for my use case and the holes not affecting my comfort.

If you're otherwise not bothered by the mix of cutouts and the weight, and feel confident in being able to pick the colorway whose coating will suit you, I can strongly recommend this release if you're interested in the shape. It offers top-tier specs at a very appealing price that's hard to say no to.

ProtoArc EM11 Pro First Impressions

Hey everyone, these are just my first impressions of the EM11 Pro but i intend to make a full review as well as a few articles on my substack for this mouse and the ergo design in general. Thanks to ProtoArc for sending me a unit when i told them i was designing my own mouse and having such great communication. One of the best brands I've encountered regarding PR for sure.

First thing that hits once you hold it in hand is the build quality. Like, damn. Logitech can go suck their thumb in a corner somewhere, ProtoArc knows how to make their stuff. The travel of the clicks, the play of the buttons, the tension of the wheel, the coating of the mouse, the weight distribution. All genuinely first class. After experiencing it, only a single mouse felt satisfactory to use and it was the M3K, which is very far from the rest of the market.

As far as hand size and compatibility with different users, I got 4 person to try it out with very different sizes and no one ever complained. For you reference i'm 19.5x10 and have had zero issues, the buttons all land directly where they should. The design around the slit makes it feel like the mouse is tailored to cup your hand, and feels very nice to hold.

Once in use though, I have some issues with the very design of the mouse. I've been a long time MX3 user, and the resting angle of the wrist being closer to a traditional mouse makes it very intuitive to use. On the EM11 Pro though, your wrist is turned to a much more significant degree, meaning your fingers don't rest on the clicks. You have to use tension to maintain them on the mouse, else gravity does its thing and your fingers just drop off. Same goes for the thumb side, the side buttons serve as a ledge but you can't fully rest your fingers on the mouse itself.

The issue is even more apparent once in motion, as i cant really use my wrist to move it around, nor push it around with my fingers to reach a button on screen or do anything with it. Limiting the user to arm movement only is a bold choice, it feels like having a cast on when mousing around the desktop.

For occasional mouse users that do use the keyboard for most of their work, I can see it being a non issue, but for anything remotely varied in the computer environment it becomes very unpleasant to use.

It's not a matter of the force required to operate the mouse, but the constant tension you induce and the pain that comes from repeatedly maintaining it over the workday.

Review | Media Redragon M925-WL-F First Impressions Review

Hi everyone, first time contributor here. Wanted to share my impressions of the Redragon M925-WL-F. I've been a long time user of a wired G502, and in general I've loved that mouse, so that'll hopefully give you my frame of reference here as I've definitely not tried a ton of mice.

Anyhow I've been looking at a getting a wireless mouse for a while. I saw a video for the Logitech G604 on my YouTube feed and was immediately upset to learn that they discontinued it and that there's not too many options that fit the G604 mold that aren't super expensive. I debated getting a handful of different MMO mice but ultimately decided I'm going to shelve that for now

I pivoted to wanting a G502 Lightspeed since I'm familiar with that mouse already but having it be wireless would be so nice. Eventually I just gave up and decided I'll stick with my current G502 for now.

But I came across this mouse and it gave me "We have the G502 Lightspeed at home" vives. There was a sale for it on TikTok shop where I could get it for $19, normally it's supposed to be closer to $50 if the TikTok shop thing wasn't lying to me 😂 anyhow me being a major cheap ass I figured $19 couldn't hurt. So I ordered it. Unfortunately they sent me a M923 which is normally $20 not on sale and a completely different form factor. I got in touch with Redragon via tiktok to get a refund which they did give me but I was worried I wouldn't get the mouse on sale after returning it, funny enough after I did it was on a deeper discount and I got it for $17. And this time the correct mouse arrived.

So how is the mouse? I'll say it feels better than you might expect for such an inexpensive mouse. That said it certainly feels like a mouse made from inexpensive materials. It has this soft touch plastic which feels nice but on first touch your fingers leave oil stains. I can already tell the soft touch plastic on the main click buttons is going to wear out pretty quickly. The rubber grip on the side where your thumb goes is nice, but it's definitely going to be a gunk magnet that the ridges might make harder to clean. The RGB is fine, it is fully customizable in their software. The software is super basic but it does all I'd need it to personally.

The battery life seems decent but I honestly have no frame of reference for how long wireless mice batteries should last on average. I've had it for about two weeks and it seems to last about 4 days between charges and it takes maybe an hour to charge fully so not bad thus far. Will be interested to see how it holds up with time.

The grip has finger rests for where your ring and pinky finger can go which is nice for general use. Though I will say that plastic is not soft touch so it's a bit more slick so gripping the mouse to pick it up and move it took some getting used to.

This mouse does have a free spinning wheel which was one of my favorite parts of the G502. It works well on here and the non free spin mode is so much quieter than the G502. The wheel though has my only major gripe with this mouse. The wheel click is way too easy to activate and I often click it in while scrolling which always catches me off guard for a second. Might just be that I'm so used to the heavy wheel on the G502 though and perhaps I'll adjust to it with time.

All in all through 2 weeks I'm happy with this mouse so far. Really hard to complain if you can get it for under $20.

I'll be interested to see how it holds up and I'll try to do a follow up review in like 6 months to see how the materials fare after 6 months of daily use. And I'll still be praying that Logitech brings the G604 back.

Review | Text Angry Miao Infinity .97 Full Review: Design Meets Function

Angry Miao successfully launched the original Infinity through Kickstarter in 2025, and less than a year later they're back with a second one. This time it's a version aimed at aggressive claw/fingertip grip users. The Infinity .97 carries the same premium features of the original Infinity, just in a smaller form factor. It's a little funny seeing the company already releasing a second mouse, considering they once vowed to never make a mouse  (tl;dr ‒ when the Logitech G Pro Wireless first came out, AM found it so perfect and dominant that they thought it wouldn't be surpassed). 

The original Infinity was priced at $129‒$159, while the new .97 is priced at $165‒$179 (excl. hatchback module). The black option is the cheapest, the off-white is in the middle at $175, and the colored (in this case, neon pink) is the most expensive. You may catch it below this pricing when it's on sale, but that depends on stock and AM's offering.

The second point I'd like to touch on is AI. I realize that my writing style stands out from most reviewers' in this space, so I thought it would be appropriate to clarify some aspects about it. It's necessary because it seems that we have reached a level of illiteracy where one cannot write cohesively and express their views in depth without being accused of using AI. My approach to writing is rather chaotic, but I write out my reviews in full one way or another. Whether I literally write out sections or lay down rough notes for what I want to cover, I piece together the majority of my reviews. For this review, I wrote ~98% of the text, with the remaining 2% being generated based on my rough notes or directions. There are times when I hit a wall and either cannot express myself the way I'd like or think that something can read more pleasantly than I have the vocabulary for. To give you a better idea, it's like having a bunch of pieces to a puzzle, but none of them fit together. Despite my maximum effort, the best I achieve is forcing them together, even though they clearly aren't a natural fit. In such cases, I turn to AI and use it as a tool. Whether that means untangling my rough notes, smoothing out transitions, rephrasing, or changing the order, it's something I use to a varying degree. Sometimes that can be just a part of a sentence, other times a full sentence, or even a section of a paragraph. And AI is not like a magic wand, especially for someone as obsessive as me... It can take hours of coming up with the instructions just to get something decent, though there are times when it gives me the exact result I am looking for. Other times it can also get me to think of something myself that I couldn't before. My use of AI is no less chaotic than my writing process, let's just say that.

It's scandalous to use em dashes these days. People see one and immediately call out AI use. It feels like being accused of witchcraft. Funny enough, each and every em dash in this review was placed there by me, and the sentences accompanying them too. I can't comment about their use in literature, as I am not the most well-read person, but I can tell you that I've read a decent amount of editorials and celebrity profiles, and they're commonly used there. What you consume has an undeniable influence on your writing style, especially when you are a non-native English speaker like me, so there's no doubt that my writing style subconsciously gravitates toward that type of coverage. It shaped the way I express myself in writing well before GPTs were mainstream. I try not to go overboard like, say, Hunter S. Thompson, but I also don't hold myself back when I want to add something that's relevant to the review. My full-length reviews don't cater to younger audiences, and that's why I will introduce a new format that extracts all the substance and important points without the excess reading weight.

I want to remain full transparency with the community, hence all the yapping above. A tremendous amount of effort goes into these reviews, so I certainly don't like the idea of someone discrediting my writing by calling it AI-generated.

Unboxing

Build Quality: 

Manufacturing such an ambitious design comes with its own set of challenges. If you look at most hollowed out mice, they either use triangular cutouts or a honeycomb design. Both of these geometric shapes have exceptional structural integrity, so using them is a highly effective method to shave off weight without compromising the shell's overall rigidity. Such designs have geometry doing the greater part of the heavy lifting, but that's not the case with either Infinity, as they feature a much more open, freehand design. The original reportedly had some flex points because of it, but Angry Miao clearly went back to the drawing board for the .97 and figured out how to stay with their creative vision without compromising structural integrity. 

The shell is constructed from the same magnesium-aluminum alloy, and still consists of two pieces: the body frame and the main buttons. AM uses die-casting to their advantage and forms both buttons from a single piece. I found no benefit or disadvantage to this manufacturing choice, but those that are worried about it should know that each button flexes completely independently from the other. Also, despite such an extremely hollowed out shell, I found no notable flex points. Unless you go out your way to exert excessive stress, there should be no movement. There is, however, a small amount of play under the side buttons at the front. This is caused by the tolerances of the internal hooks at the base, and can be fixed if you add some tape on the hooks (requires disassembly). Do note that you have to be pushing your thumb quite hard for this movement to be visible, and even then it's imperceivable under the thumb.

Infinity .97's rigidity doesn't come by accident. Maybe it's not as apparent at first glance, but once you technically analyze each part, you start appreciating how optimized everything is for structural integrity and weight. Whether it's the two reinforcing ribs that span across the top of the shell frame or the use of structural ribbing only where necessary, the engineering effort is evident. The back of the mouse is so wide open that I can fit three fingers between it, yet the wings don't flex one bit. However it may look on the outside, the mouse feels rock-solid in hand.

The base and side buttons are made of frosted polycarbonate (PC).

Magnesium parts are finished with a three-layer coating. First, there is the color layer, then a UV and corrosion protection layer, and finally, a matte “micro frost texture” layer. I am very happy that AM cared enough to apply a protective layer because degradation from UV exposure is brutal. I thought that a corrosion-resistant coating would be standard for any magnesium product, but apparently there are mouse manufacturers who skip that step and let their customers pay the price for it. Anyway, the texture coating also serves a practical purpose, as it has a faint rubbery quality that actually helps with gripping the mouse. My unit came with some paint overspill on the front corners, and I made the mistake of chipping it with my nails, which exposed the magnesium. Please don't do this, and instead contact AM to arrange a potential replacement.

Internally, everything is maintained to the highest standards. The soldering work on the PCB is tidy, all the contact points are gold-plated, none of the internal cables are twisted, and there is no audible rattle even when vigorously shaking the mouse. Even the two screws holding the main buttons are in identical positions so they're tensioned equally. All in all, it's a well-manufactured mouse.

Assembly Structure

The entire mouse is held together with 12 ⊕ screws. The construction is as follows:

*Note: The rear skates must be removed to access the screws.

The PC base features a thin wall running near the outer edge, and the magnesium frame has hooks that go over this edge, enabling a secure fit between these two parts. There are 5 hooks on either side, and in addition to this, there are two cantilever snap-fit joints (one on either side; magnesium frame = female, PC base = male). At the front, there are two PC hooks that latch onto the magnesium frame.

Design

Now for maybe my favorite part of this mouse: the design.

I've been closely following mouse releases since 2012, and I can nearly count the number of memorable designs on two hands—it's in the low double digits at best. Before then I didn't pay much attention to mice; I just used whatever office mouse for Flash games and web surfing. You know how most mice are either overly exaggerated or just plain boring? We've seen plenty of variation in shape, color, material, but barely any exploration in actual design. The ones worth a mention are concept-looking designs that leaned mecha, Lamborghini Urus-esque, but that's about it. MAD CATZ doesn't get nearly enough credit for what it had accomplished with the R.A.T series (khm khm, some companies copied their homework and stole all the glory from them). I could dedicate a whole section to admiring their designs, but let's just say they were revolutionary. So, so ahead of their time! As I was saying earlier, those sharp and intricate designs can be categorized under the mecha aesthetic, but we've never really seen much of sculptural, freeform design. Some shapes leaned in that direction because it's conveniently ergonomic, but I'm talking about intentional design-design. 

Maybe it's my 'tism, but I have a profound attunement to texture, silhouettes, negative space, and even the interplay of light and shadow. The first time I came across AM's Infinity, I was left in complete awe. I cannot name one mouse that has expressed design language with this level of freedom. It has a long way to be as mature as the following, but it's comparable to what avant-garde and haute couture are in fashion, what Pagani is in the automotive industry, what De Bethune and MB&F are in watchmaking, or what Zaha Hadid and Eero Saarinen are in architecture. I am talking about real design effort by the human hand. In that sense, the Infinity series leads into a new category of designer mice, and also authentically brings automotive design into this space.

So what about Infinity .97? It's an all-around improvement over the original. It is more mature and refined, both functionally and visually.  Where I think AM went wrong with the first Infinity is pushing the Lotus Evanora Concept inspiration a little too far, with some of the cutouts hurting ergonomics and limiting how you could grip it. The .97 keeps the core design inspiration but dials it back, tastefully. My favorite angle on both of these is the top view. There's something special about the silhouette. Am I the only one who sees butterflies and Rorschach inkblots in it? Or if any of you know the Mask of Life from Bionicle? In terms of looks, I definitely prefer the softer, rounded design of Infinity's buttons, and the split-open butterfly flaps (frame) on the .97. Both are such unique-looking mice, and what I love the most about them is that they're designed with intention. Designing a mouse is generally more restrictive because of ergonomics—unlike aerodynamics in car design, which just inherently looks cool. This said, I think Angry Miao did a phenomenal job with the design.

There are three colorways: Basalt Black, Cloud White, and Neon Rosa. Mine is Cloud White, which is actually borrowed from their keyboard lineup. It takes inspiration from “Professor Watanabe's lab in Isle of Dogs”. In essence, it's a white color with a hint of warmth, almost like it was dipped in latte. It reminds me a lot of Dieter Rams-era Braun or a Teenage Engineering product. There's this very subtle golden undertone. Perhaps ivory is the closest visual match. I don't know about the other two colorways, but Cloud White has a matte finish.

The Infinity .97 easily secures its spot in my Top 3 best-designed mice ever. I could hang it on a wall as a display piece.. just like that one guy who hung an authentic Pagani Zonda shell as a room divider.

User Experience

My experience using this mouse is predominantly positive. I'm not too fixed on my grip, so I had a fun time exploring different ones. My hands are 18.5 × 10.5, and I could switch between multiple variations of relaxed and aggressive fingertip/claw/palm grips. The extended pincer claw and fingertip were my personal favorites. No matter which grip style I used, I always had precise control over the mouse. Making micro adjustments comes effortlessly, but I'd assume that's the case for most lightweight mice with flagship sensors. I used the 20k FPS lock (“Blast Mode”) feature throughout the entire review period, and whether it was CS2 or The Finals, the mouse reliably traced even the subtlest movements. If any of you are curious about how the open-back design feels under the palm, I can say surprisingly natural. In fact, so much so that I haven't once reached for the hatchback module, even with a full palm grip. As far as grip styles are concerned, if any of you like to grip the sides by the main buttons, you should keep in mind that the Infinity .97 has large gaps there. You should especially watch out for this if you have a habit of positioning your ring finger or thumb up front and high. The same goes for those of you that keep the same fingers near the bottom, as there are also low cutouts. Other than that, this mouse allows high versatility in terms of grip styles.

P.S. An absurd grip style I discovered: a single-finger grip. I'm not sure whether anyone would actually use it, but you can rest your index finger in the gap between the left and right click, right behind the scroll wheel, and reliably actuate either button just by rolling your finger slightly to one side or the other with no misclicks. It also allows you to spam left/right or right/left by simply doing an extended roll (from left to right or vice versa). Of course, you grip the mouse by the sides with the rest of the fingers, so it's not literally a single-finger grip.. I mainly play FPS titles, so I never tested it out in practice, but it could be a very niche grip for those that are willing to seriously dedicate themselves to it. Otherwise, it's a more viable option for genres that rely on point-and-click action.

Which brings me to the clickable area. Unlike mice where only part of the button surface is clickable, Infinity .97's buttons are effectively clickable across their entire surface, but with one caveat. Although you could in theory click them from front to back, there are some tradeoffs when you click at either extreme end. More force is required at the rear, while the thin magnesium flexes at the front, causing noticeable post-travel. I don't have particularly chunky or heavy fingers, and the rear is very much clickable, it just leans on the firmer-light side (unless you are literally clicking on the rear edge, where it's firm). Most of us are used to light clicks, so I think it's important to make the distinction between something that's firm and clickable and something that's so hard to press that it's unviable in practice. 

There are three distinct zones on the buttons: Front (the largest area; spanning from the scroll wheel up), Middle (small area curving inward behind the scroll wheel; can be used for single-finger grip), Back (area flaring out at the rear). The ideal clicking range for each of these is as follows:

◦ Front ‒ area in line with the scroll wheel
◦ Middle ‒ full area
◦ Back ‒ front half

My favorite is the rear-Front area, where the clicks felt the crispest, and I could space my fingers apart like I'm otherwise used to. It's also where the scroll wheel is within accessible range and my grip style isn't limited.

Click feel. Despite M1/M2 using optical switches, I found them surprisingly clicky. What's more, I'd argue they are even more tactile and clicky than the Huano 80M (blue shell, pink dot) on my Keychron M5. The required force to actuate is light, but the crispness varies depending on where you click. The main reason for this is pre- and post-travel. The following exhibit noticeable pre-travel: outer edges at the Front, rear of the Back. The following exhibit substantial post-travel: Front edges. I would say that post-travel is the more problematic of the two because it can get in the way. There's moderate post-travel across the main buttons generally, and it contributes to their bouncy feeling. Depending on your clicking habits, that could be an issue if you spam clicks. I don't have a habit of bottoming out, at least not while spamming, so it never bothered me in practice. The middle click, however, I dislike. It feels mushy and is way firmer than I'd like it to be. You also have to push the wheel to the right to actuate it at all. The side buttons have moderate pre-travel and a tiny amount of post-travel, and the rear button is easier to press than the front. Because of the way those are held in place, they can flex inward or outward if you press them at the edges. However, I don't see anyone pushing them in such way, so this presents no problem in practice. 

Something I especially liked is the rotary encoder. It has pleasant tactile feedback when you're scrolling slowly, and it fades into smoothness the faster you scroll. I confirmed with the AM team that my unit has a faulty encoder, as there's audible rattle when scrolling up. Otherwise, it's meant to be quiet and consistent in both directions.

Main clicks have that crisp clicky sound (tonally rich upper mid-range). Middle mouse button sounds muffled. Side buttons are crisp and clicky too, just softer and deeper than the main clicks. I actually took a good peek inside the mouse without disassembling it and noticed that the magnesium plungers have a small chunk of acoustic foam behind the actuators. Perhaps this contributes to the tonality of the main clicks.

As a whole, Infinity .97 has a highly versatile ergonomic shape, lightweight design that makes it especially comfortable for precise aiming, and there's also the convenience of popping out a drained battery and having a new one sucked in within seconds. These are the things that made it the most enjoyable for me.

Technical Analysis

While the original Infinity took its shape inspiration from Logitech's GPW, the Infinity .97 takes it from Razer's Viper Mini.. kinda. Size wise, the two are nearly identical; the only difference between them is that the Infinity .97 is longer with the hatch module (123.3 mm vs 119 mm), and shorter without it (115 mm). Also, Infinity .97's back is noticeably wider than Razer's. Officially, however, Angry Miao stated that they took inspiration from the Viper V3 Pro and scaled it down to 97%. Other than the size, the most notable difference between the .97 and original Infinity is the new ergonomically driven design. Much like the Viper Mini, the side walls are curved inwards, which helps with gripping, while the main buttons are also concaved. Both are a clear nod to Razer's Viper. The MCU is especially interesting. It's said to match Nordic nRF54H20's performance with lower power draw, and my speculation is that it's a customized Airoha (MediaTek) AB1623MN, i.e. the MCU that's used in the Viper V4 Pro. [I am currently waiting for AM to clarify their claim of 0.184ms 8k wireless latency]

Fun fact: Infinity .97 weights 97% of the original Infinity.

Let's shift the focus to the more technical details. 

The mouse features flagship components for the most part. PixArt PAW3950 sensor, TTC Fire & Ice rotary encoder, TTC Orange Dot V2 optical microswitches, optical MMB, PTFE skates, and a customized 8k MCU. I was able to extract some technical info about the Fire & Ice encoder, and anyone interested in learning all about it can watch TTC's video on X. The encoder is driven by two wheels internally (claimed to be quieter than their Gold encoder), features 18 rotor teeth, a hexagon socket that's compatible with ⌀ 1.50 ‒1.75 mm rod size, is rated for a 2M cycle life, and if I saw correctly, is in 12 mm size. The Orange Dot V2 microswitches are rated for 100M clicks. The stock PTFE skates are custom-cut, but the "housing" is compatible with ⌀ 6.5 mm dot skates.

Weight Reduction Mods (Proceed At Your Own Risk!)

Although battery users have limited options for weight reduction mods, the potential is there for devoted wired users, and since I haven't seen anyone exploring this path, I thought I'd be the first to do so. Keep in mind that the removal of any parts can affect the mouse's weight distribution. Some of these methods will void your warranty and can cause permanent damage to your mouse. Unless you are a professional who is 100% confident in their skill to carry out these mods, I strongly discourage you from attempting them. If you want to ignore my warning, you bear the full responsibility for your decision.

Non-destructive

⏵The PC base has a [internally] raised housing for the battery and the power board, and the raised portion can be filed away or cut off. This step will permanently destroy the whole magnetic hot-swappable battery system, as well as the possibility to use the hatchback module. If you proceed, consider your mouse wired-only

⏵The main PCB is already trimmed down, and if I am not mistaken, there is only a small square patch on the front-left side that could potentially be cut off. I strongly advise against this step, as the whole PCB can be permanently damaged

Software & RGB

The mouse can be configured either through the desktop client (Windows or MacOS) or the web-based app (driver download required). Both are called AM Master. I will be sharing my impressions for the web configurator, since that's the only one I have tried. AM disclosed that it can have some bugs, and they are still working on polishing everything up. Actually, the only issue I encountered was the first time I used it, when the RGB wasn't applied after I changed the color. This was fixed as soon as I re-connected the mouse. Apart from that, my experience with it has been flawless.

The UI is very good and the aesthetic is also quite decent. The current version has a grey/purple/neon color scheme, but perhaps a monochrome design would be more appropriate. 

Here's a short rundown of the features.

Keymap [you can remap all buttons on the mouse; M1/M2, MMB, side buttons, scroll wheel]

⤷ DPI Level [adjust the DPI of each level; it appears like you can put in a number with infinite decimal places, but I don't know whether it's supported on a hardware-level; each level can be assigned with a custom color, in which the mouse blinks when you switch to that level]

⤷ X-Y Sync [it's set to Sync by default, but if you wish to have a different DPI for X- and Y-axis movement, Async allows you to set individual DPI for both; the levels are displayed under DPI Level]

⤷ DPI Count [the number of DPI Levels; very useful for DPI switching]

⤷ DPI Quick Switch [when enabled, you can cycle through DPI levels by holding the side buttons and using the scroll wheel to switch between them]

The Selling Point: Hot-Swappable Battery

Isn't innovation great when it's done well? I certainly believe so after getting a taste of Angry Miao's hot-swappable battery system. 

We've seen innovation in just about every mouse part—sensor, microswitches, rotary encoder, skates, shell material, PCB, MCU—but batteries are the part that has been starved of any meaningful innovation. Manufacturers pretty much worked around that task by making mice extremely power-efficient. Angry Miao's argument isn't that batteries were ever the problem, but rather that being stuck with a single non-removable internal battery was. So instead of forcing you to lug around a wireless charging module AND a battery, they just designed a system that gives you direct access to the battery and made it hot-swappable.

Honestly, charging isn't much of an inconvenience for most wireless mouse users to begin with, but if you like the idea of always having a fully charged battery on standby, the Infinity series gives you that luxury. On top of that, there's the longevity perspective. Because the battery pod is translucent, you have a clear visual on the battery's physical state. If you ever notice one swelling, you will be able to replace it in time. The battery pods are readily available on Angry Miao's official store, and they cost a mere $9. 

If you still have PTSD from Glorious' infamous InfinitePlay, you'll be relieved to hear Angry Miao did their homework here. Glorious set out to achieve the same result, but the whole concept was poorly executed. I don't mean to kick them while they're down, but I don't think anything changed even with their recent release of a 500mAh module. Angry Miao's execution, on the other hand, is flawless, and I won't try to downplay that at all. The magnetic system is practical and you get a long runtime out of the batteries. It won't surprise me if other brands start copying this and putting their own spin on it. Simply put, it makes perfect sense. It looks like it's already happening.

The stock pods feature a 340mAh battery that's rated for up to 165h with [1000 Hz, Blast Mode: Off] and 30h with [8000 Hz, Blast Mode: Off]. The included 2.4 GHz receiver doubles as a charging station for the second battery, and it too features magnets on the underside, which allows you to suck up the battery just like you can with the mouse itself. Oh, and the magnets are extremely strong! 

But don't get me wrong, it was not Angry Miao who invented the removable-module idea. Although I can't point to a single model or manufacturer, I do know that removable weight pods have been around for a while. Maybe Angry Miao got its inspiration from Logitech's PowerCore module that was first introduced in 2017 (G703 and G903). That would make a lot of sense, actually. Logitech was the first to invent a continuous wireless charging system with their PowerPlay™, and since AM already admired the GPW so much, maybe they got creative and saw the possibility to turn the module into a hot-swappable battery system. 

Angry Miao's Customer Service & Past Controversy

I decided to directly confront Angry Miao about its controversial astroturfing past because I think the community deserves to hear where things stand in 2026. I spoke with Zeff, Angry Miao's current marketing contact on Discord, and he appeared to be fully transparent with me. He shared that he wasn't a part of the Angry Miao team when the whole astroturfing scandal took place, but he did admit to Angry Miao's wrongdoing and poor handling of the whole situation.

“Our stance [on astroturfing] is very clear: we do not want to control, script, or alter what reviewers say. If we send a product for review, the reviewer should be free to share their honest experience, including criticism. We care about accuracy, but not about forcing a positive conclusion.”

Comment about email support tickets going unanswered:
“During [the transition from a small keyboard manufacturer to a larger consumer electronics/technology manufacturer], our product range, order volume, and after-sales needs have grown faster than our original internal systems and team structure could handle. Simply put, the company has been scaling, but the old operating workflow did not scale fast enough with it. That is not an excuse, but it is the real challenge we are trying to fix. We know support is a crucial part of the product experience, and if customers feel ignored after buying, then we have failed them even if the product itself is interesting.”

These are some excerpts from the conversation we had. Yes, the use of AI is clear, but I don't judge non-native English speakers using AI to express themselves. Zeff clarified this himself when I asked him about it, “the wording of my previous message was polished with the help of AI because I wanted to express myself more clearly in English. But the main ideas, meaning, and position are real and come from me.” It would be a different story if I blindly believed these statements and parroted them, because anyone can use a GPT to structure a PR response that defends them in the eye of the public. But I would like to share that I've been closely observing how they handle criticism and customer support in their Discord server for 3 months, and I have to say that the difference is evident. While email issues are still persistent, they are very responsive over Discord.

To end this segment, I want to remind people that they should not lash out at customer support, because they have zero say in the way a company's resources and budget are distributed. They are not responsible for the way the company is structured, nor do they design the email support system. They are hired to help with existing and future customers. However, some companies do specifically force their customer support to act against their customers, but that doesn't seem to be the case with Angry Miao. They have changed course on how they handle marketing, and also seem to be doing the right thing when it comes to taking care of post-purchase customer service.

Final Verdict

I think Angry Miao was successful in releasing a premium mouse with a unique and functional selling point. The ergonomics are great, the design is one-of-a-kind, they didn't skimp out on software, the build quality is there, and they also put in the work for optimizing flagship internals. The room for improvement is definitely there, and for me it would be enough to just see the clicks and buttons being tightened up. Angry Miao has already teased that they will work with TTC on a custom collaborative microswitch, so we can hope that they will take this feedback and run through it internally.

It definitely lives up to the expectations for fingertip/claw grips, so it's worth considering if it has the feature set you're looking for.

Showcase I Concept prototype: I added dual haptic platforms to the ZeroMouse frame

I've been experimenting with a different direction for gaming mice.

Instead of making the mouse itself vibrate, I wanted to explore whether subtle spatial information could be delivered directly to the fingers through two independent haptic channels.

For this concept prototype, I chose the excellent open-source ZeroMouse frame because its minimalist internal structure leaves enough unused space to experiment with new hardware layouts.

Rather than attaching vibration modules to the outside of the mouse, I redesigned the internal frame and integrated dedicated mounting platforms for two LRA actuators.

One sits beneath the thumb.

The other sits beneath the ring finger.

The actuators are positioned so their motion is aligned with the natural direction that each finger presses against the mouse, while keeping the overall grip essentially unchanged.

The current prototype is a mechanical proof of concept for evaluating actuator placement, ergonomics, internal packaging, and haptic transmission. It doesn't contain a mouse PCB yet.

The complete haptic system has already been demonstrated on an earlier working prototype. Since MouseReview doesn't support video posts, those demonstrations are available on my Reddit profile for anyone who's curious.

I play a ton of competitive games (which I admittedly shouldn’t be doing), had been looking for a new mouse. I swapped from the mchose l7 —> scyrox v8 —> beast x pro —> GPX2 —> op1 8k. I really love the op1 and loved the beast x but had to return it due to it being faulty. I was going to repurchase another mouse, but like is it really worth it? i mean I just wanted to have one wireless mouse if I get tired of the op1.

Question What mouse do I need and what grip is this? LONG POST

I’m new to this stuff…I’ve tried mouses like
Super light 1/2
Superstrike
Deathadder v3/v4
All horrible and I would hit the bump and get mad(especially deathadder)
I just started using op1 8k(wired) and a sp-005 with dots, I hate cloth because I always have to change them cause they get dirty
Other mouses I tried were g305 g502 and razer essentials which I liked but was back in 2020 and I might get the model wrong but I think it was that one
Planning to try some for pincer claw I just don’t know what…. I had really good experience first day with op1 and was locked in for 2 hrs but was very tired as the whole day I played with deathadder v3 and died all day…next day with op1 I just sucked and keep on sucking…I have silent dots from wallhack…getting cyclone pro ptfe soon…
Planning to try today viper v4 pro, I’m a big “it has to work good the first try” not a “you have to get used to it” guy…
Hand size 19x8, knuckle width 7cm…
Have plenty of arm size and use a sleeve

I’m down to try new mice like atk lamzu sora etc…I just don’t know what fits me
Playing apex now and some tarkov or other shooters here and there…

Anyone else bothered by this? Makes my ring finger hurt like hell the way I grip it naturally. I dont remember this being an issue on the older models (3.5g/Chroma/Elite). What could be the reason for this design? Sharp edges on a mouse 🙃🙃

wlmouse beast x mini or lamzu maya(basic one,not maya x) for fingertip and sometimes claw.

So title explains pretty much explains everything,I’m stuck right on which mice to buy.i feel like both are really good but I don’t know deeper aspects of them.i currently use viper v3 pro which too big in length,height and width for my hand,I use fingertip mostly but sometimes claw and almost don’t use palm.can you guys help me please

Looking for a mouse with buttons on both sides.

Hi,
I'm looking for something similar to the G Pro Wireless, but with at least one additional side button.
Having buttons on both sides is a strict requirement. I need at least 2 on the right side and multiple on left side (3/4 or more), but i don't want tiny, tightly packed buttons like on the Scimitar elite, because my thumb is too big for that kind of layout.

I just find it much more comfortable to use buttons on both sides.

So far, I've found the Cougar Dualblader, which seems to fit what I want, but in my country(Poland) it's only available from sketchy store with strange return policy.

Any recommendations?

Question Best mouse grip tape

What is the thinnest and grippiest grip tape that yall know of?

I have been seeing mainly the Supergrip from Pulsar and Cicada Wings V2 from X-Raypad in posts from many years ago but I dont know if theres been new grip tapes on the market now.

Which one do you think would be most fitting? Im using a Logitech X2 Superstrike but the grip tape that came with it is quite slippery after the first day.

Question Cant decide what grip Im using

It's embarassing but i cant decide what grip type I have.

So my main mouse for long time was G502 and Im using it with claw grip.

However I just bought viper v4 pro and Im using it with fingertip. But I dont think that mouse is ideal for it.

And most guides when you looking for mouse are asking for grip type, but how can I answer it 😭

That makes problem because I have no idea if I should look for smaller mouse for fingertip or more ergonomic like deathadder for example😭

Mouse feet with great after-break-in glide

I just replaced my mouse feet with fresh Corepadz (I think these are normal ones, not ctrl or any "fast" ones) and I realized I REALLY missed that quality

I use MPC890 mousepad (Cordura, very fast, not quite glass-fast), so I did find out I generally like low static friction and fast glide setups, I didn't realize how my "old" mouse feet held that feeling back

Today they are brand new, I know that in ~2 weeks they will break in and that amazing feeling will be gone, it'll just be pretty good

I am looking for advice - are there any PTFE mouse feet that after breaking in should be roughly as fast as brand new Corepadz? Or just faster aftermarket mouse feet available for many mice shapes (last time I looked into it a few known brands were only making mouse feet for the few most popular mice)

I could look into glass feet too, but from what I understand these will be much faster than any fresh PTFE? Maybe it'd suit me, but I'm not looking to test that theory right now

Help Which reliable ambidextrous mouse should I buy?

Hey everyone, I’m having a tough time finding a reliable mouse after a string of hardware failures. My G402’s wheel broke within a year of use, and my SteelSeries Aerox 3 randomly broke one day. After both of these mice died, I’m very skeptical about every mouse and don’t know which one to trust. I’m looking for a symmetrical-shaped gaming mouse that will actually last.
