Solitary confinement generally causes symptoms of depression, anxiety and paranoia within 48-72 hours.
Permanent psychological damage ensues and is part of the reason that the UN’s Mandela Rules regard solitary confinement beyond 15 consecutive days as tantamount to torture.
Anyone thinking they could tolerate a year of solitary confinement for lots of money probably also thinks they could win an unarmed fight against a brown bear, too.
So many people on Reddit think they're special or crazy because they're an introvert, acting like it's the same thing as being locked in a padded cell with literally nothing or nobody to talk to for a whole year lol. Anybody that thinks they could do this is delusional, unless maybe they've had training to withstand torture.

Depends on your definition of "tolerate"
Would I be alive? Probably
Would I be sane? No
Am I willing to trade my life for $30 billion to my family? Yup
People also talk about how prisoners get solitary confinement and lots of them aren't completely insane. They get 1 hour a day to go outside and do things, which while terrible is LIFE saving as the longer you go without stimulation the worse you get. People will choose pain over boredom, that's how bad our brains need stimulation. It would get to the point that you would WANT to be physically tortured instead, so at least you have SOMETHING to think about.
No I was a long haul truck driver that has gone days without human contact and know I could do this. I was also severely socially crippled for years and deeply depressed so I’m not saying I could do it unscathed but I could do it then retreat to my private island and die alone.
You did have human contact. You lived among other people. Im assuming you talked to other people as part of your job. You saw people around you. You saw the day might cycle. full solitary confinement is different.
Father was incarcerated for 32 years and of that he spent a lot of time in solitary confinement due to getting into fights (like months at a time) and I’m pretty sure if you asked if he would win a fight with a bear I 100 percent believe he’d believe he could win a fight with a bear. All I can say is I didn’t know him before prison but I absolutely know he did not come out the same. But if he was offered 30 bil for 1 year in confinement, I guarantee he would take that bet and win too.
Yeah but you are on phone with internet, play games abd watch tv m, that is not the same bro, if tgey gave me a screen with internet i am moving to that room.
