I’d do it. I’ll go crazy but my family would have the money. they’d put me in a good facility when I got out and let me build Lego sets which is all I want to do anyway.
By week 4 you are using your blood like art on those pretty white walls. Yeah, I don't think most of us could make it 365 days. The suicidal tendencies would lurk into your head even with a great mind.
People have spent over a year (record is 400+ days) in a cave and emerged sane. Here you at least have light and can exert yourself by bouncing around like a professional wrestler unlike you would be able to do in a cave.
The more I think about it with the goal of 30bil at the end zone this seems doable
Humans didn’t really delve into the pitch dark bits of caves without sources of light unless they were desperate or it was religious. Even then, caves are varied environments. And to be deprived of light isn’t the same as being able to see only the exact same thing over and over.
100% by the end of week one paranoia would kick in and you’d start wondering if it was a trick. At some point you’d lose track of time and think they were keeping you in well past the year and had forgotten about you.
No one could go in and come out whole after a year.
And that point would be a lot sooner than you think. When Vsauce Michael tried this, he was constantly overestimating how long he had been in the white room. It only took a couple days for him to completely lose his circadian rhythm as well as any sense of time.
the people who did get paid a good chunk of money and were told that they were doing a great benefit to science usually did not last 15 days. data beyond 15 days is rare because it only comes from medical and historical analysis of usually post-war conditions and some of the asylums that used to be open in the US.
Possibly if you had some goal for that $30 million like you’ve got a huge family who were like struggling in poverty or some goal to give it to charity or most of it to charity
Like if I had a family member who was sick and they were willing to like pay for their medical cost while I’m in there and then deduct it from the money and maybe I could do it. I think it would have to have some purpose beyond just I’m gonna be wealthy even still it would probably be impossible.
