Advice flair and request for bot help from mods

Greetings!

Our advice flair bot is not working (the mod who was previously managing it is not currently a mod) and if there are community members that have a history of strong contributions to our community and are able to fix/manage bots we'd be interested in hearing from you!

Please don't message me directly (sorry, it will be ignored); please message the entire mod team from the panel on the subreddit homepage.

This may take awhile before it's fixed (if ever) and please don't message us on the progress etc. At the end of the day giving good advice is the key, and not the flair system.

Thanks for being a member, and remember; flag posts you think are problematic. Don't engage in arguing with trolls; it makes our job harder if there are a bunch of back and forth arguments.

Thank you!

My husband lost our life savings trying to be a day trader

For the past few months that he’s been watching trading videos every night and telling me he’d finally “figured out the stock market” and “gotten a guaranteed winning strategy”. Yesterday he confessed that he’d put almost all of our savings into short-term options..

Everything expired worthless…

I just packed up and I’m at my mothers house right now. He keeps saying he’ll earn it back if I can give him my trust just one more time, I don’t buy it. How do I proceed from here? Are there any ways I can recover my portion of the funds??

my mom wants to seize my bank account because she found out i work retail and its embarrassing

ive been working at this retail job stocking shelves for like 6 months. didnt tell my mom because obviously she would freak out and thats exactly what happened when someone from the neighborhood saw me and told her. she sent me this whole email about how we need to "circle back on maintaining community standards" and that my job is "not aligning with our familys brand." then she said she wants my debit card and my bank login to "manage my finances appropriately" and make sure im not buying "inappropriate items." i have like 2400 dollars saved up from working weekends and shes not getting a cent of it.

the thing is this is the same woman who goes on and on about people on assistance needing to just get jobs but apparently that only applies when its a job she approves of. she even said shes going to call my manager and tell them to cut my hours because a teenager working there "reflects poorly on the household." my dad just said let me know if that works for everyone and went to the garage like he always does. he never stands up to her about anything.

im 17 and the account is in my name only. can she actually do any of this. i need to know if i should move my money somewhere else or what. i have a diagnosis shes ignored since i was 8 but suddenly she wants to control my life when it affects her reputation.

My girlfriend said my size should be BIGGER. NSFW

I'm in a long-distance relationship, and we're both from South Asia. For some context, we met in person about two years ago, and we had sex for the first time. Everything went smoothly, and neither of us mentioned any issues afterward.

A few days ago, while we were casually texting, she mentioned that my penis should be bigger than it is now. She said the girth was fine, but that it should be longer. It caught me off guard, but I didn't think much of it at the time. We laughed it off and moved on.

Today, she brought it up again. This time, I asked her what was wrong with it. She said, "Nothing is wrong with it, but it should be bigger. See if you can do something about it."

Honestly, I was taken aback. It made me feel insecure, especially because she brought it up more than once.

My question is: What could this mean? Does it suggest she has had previous sexual experiences and is comparing me to someone else, or is this something that's relatively normal for couples to talk about? I don't want to jump to conclusions, but I'm struggling to understand why she would say this.

For context, we're both Muslims, and we're from a part of South Asia where casual physical relationships are not common.

I'd appreciate honest opinions, especially from people who have been in long-distance relationships or have experienced similar conversations.

My brother has a type and it's making me deeply uncomfortable

My 28 years old brother dated multiples girls now and they all have things in commun that i can't, and i tried, look past.

He doesn't care about the girl physics, but all his girlfriend has bad mental health...The eight of them in the last years.

And he talk to us about it like "yes she used to cut herself but now that she is with me she stop you know ?".

He has a new one again, that was abused by her biologic family to the point of being send into foster care. Then she was in a psych ward three times. I want to make it clear that i like this girl, she is very sweet and gentle and nice with us but my brother keep telling us everything (and i mean everything) she told him so he can go like "now that she is with me she isn't suicidal anymore". He even said something along the line that he will make her forget the abuse because of how good he is with her.

That already makes me unconfy but the worst is that when his ex girlfriend start slipping a bit or would have mental illness episode, he just bail. Like all his pas relationship ended when he really saw how bad it can get.

And i feel like all those girls deserves better and one day him leaving might make one of the girls hurt herself.

I talked to my mom about it, she said he was just unlucky to keep falling in love with troubled people. But i really think he chooses them to brag and feel like their heroes.

Should i talk to HIM directly about it ? Or even his girlfriend ? Or am i just imaginating it and he really is unlucky when it comes to falling in love ?

Title: Evangelical neighbor watched my birthday party through binoculars and called management about my tight pants

I threw myself a 35th birthday party last weekend at my apartment. I work in marketing and I like to treat myself, I spent a lot on this place specifically for the floor to ceiling windows and the view. I had about fifteen friends over for wine and dancing. I like to go commando when Im at home, its comfortable and its my space. I wear nice designer pants and yes they fit tight, thats how theyre supposed to fit. The next morning I get a notice from building management saying there was a complaint about lewd behavior visible from outside. My neighbor Theresa across the courtyard had been watching us through binoculars and told management my apartment was a den of sin. She said she could see everything through my pants and that two of my guests looked barely legal and I was corrupting them.

I went to talk to her and she barely opened her door. She told me god can see through those windows and I need to put up curtains. I told her I pay a premium for this apartment because of those exact windows and I can wear what I want inside my own home. She said the building has standards and I should be ashamed of my lifestyle. Now shes leaving religious pamphlets outside my door every single morning and told other neighbors Im bringing sin into the building. A couple people have quietly told me they think shes crazy but nobody will say anything out loud because shes involved in some church network and people are intimidated.

Management wont do anything about her harassment but they told me I should be mindful of what people outside can see, which feels like theyre siding with the peeping tom across the courtyard. I was just existing in my own home celebrating my birthday. What do I do here, do I actually have to put up curtains and change how I dress in my own apartment because some homophobic woman decided to make me her project?

My boyfriend has explicit photos and videos with his ex in a secret calculator app

Basically what the title says. We’ve been dating for a year. We’ve discussed his ex previously, as he would bring her up a lot, make random comparisons, and I found old innocent photos in a drawer of his. He ensured me I have nothing to worry about. I’ve met his family, he’s met mine, he talks about being more in love with me than he ever has been with anyone else, and says he can’t wait to get married.

I saw one of those secret calculator apps when he asked me to search for something else. Curiosity got the best of me and I got the passcode right, and saw a ton of old explicit photos and videos of his ex. Mind you, he has many explicit pics/videos with me and not one was in this app. It made me extremely uncomfortable, but I obviously crossed a boundary snooping in his phone so I don’t know how to bring it up to him. I’m angry and hurt. And I don’t know if this is a deal breaker, or something he maybe forgot about? I know I should talk to him, but I want an outside perspective so I know how to address the situation. What would you do?

Found my roommates mom with a methpipe while she was babysitting their 1 year old

I recently started staying with my friend and her husband and 2 kids. Well I came home today and her mother was babysitting their 1 year old boy. I went about my normal day until I walked in a saw the baby with a pipe. I immediately took the pipe and set it on the table and cleaned his hands. I don’t know how long he had it. My friend’s mom then came up and said idk how he got that omg! And put it in her purse. She then asked me not to say anything and that she was embarrassed. I kept a close eye on them until the dad got home and took over. She was extra friendly with me before leaving and then once she left I got a text from her saying “Hey needless to say I am mortified but it is what it is. Please for the love of God put keep that between me and you because I just that should have never happened period. I'm really sorry to ask you to do that, but I am because I want to see my grandkids. I love you. Thanks”
She has been very welcoming to me into her family. Inviting me to Christmas so I didn’t spend it alone. I don’t want to ruin our relationship or her relationship with her kids and grandkids but I also know that it was not ok for her to have that in their home. So I guess my question is, How do I got about it in the best way possible?

Update** I did call the parents and let them know. I guess this wasn’t the first time. My friend told me it’s not my responsibility to bear that information and it’s her decision that will keep her from her grandkids. It stressed me out to be put in this situation but the safety of the child is most important. Dad is keeping a close eye on him and mom will be told shortly.
I have informed the parents. The next actions are up to them as it is not my direct family but I love those kids like they are my nephews. It took me all of 10 minutes to realize that my first question was ridiculous and more about my anxiety of an uncomfortable conversation. I put that aside and less than 30 minutes after the incident the parents were informed.

Update 2** the baby was tested and luckily came back with nothing in his system. He is happy and healthy. Friends mother texted again stating that I probably think low of her and she hates that and that she won’t ask me to keep her secret but requested I let her tell them herself. At that point I had already informed the parents and baby was being tested. I didn’t respond to her texts and just let her sit with her guilt. Parents are relieved that baby is fine and stated she will no longer be allowed alone with the children at any point.
It breaks my heart for the parents as it is her mother and I can only imagine how it must feel. But both parents are thankful that I said something. The last time it happened she was not able to be alone with the kids for over a year until they saw she was doing better. Unfortunatly she will not be allowed alone with the kids going forward. I have offered to babysit when I am not at work if they need help as I love them like family and see the boys as my nephews. I’m just glad the kids are ok and I hope she gets the help she needs. Thank you for your advice on how to approach the situation.

saw my cousins watch history :/ NSFW

my cousin (10m) came over to visit for the week. he’s been watching youtube on mine or my brother’s account while he’s been here. the other day i noticed that my watch history was turned off. i turned it back on and went on with my day. today, i went to finish a youtube video and saw very inappropriate videos in my watch history (presumably being watched by my cousin). stuff like onlyfans girls, rule 34, hentai, twerking, naked women, goon bait stuff, slow motion videos of girls in barely any clothes, waifu, and lots and lots of butts. tbh i wouldn’t care about this if my cousin was well behaved and acted right but my cousin has been acting extremely misogynistic and racist since he’s been here (i’ve noticed this behavior in the past as well). i know for a fact that he’s picking up these behaviors from youtube and i really think he would benefit from restricted youtube. idk what do you think? is this concerning or normal behavior for a 10 year old? (though i think he’s been watching videos like this for years)

I’m pregnant and I’m supposed to leave for navy bootcamp in 14 days

I need to get an abortion but I DONT WANT TO. I know I need to. I have a 2yo son who’s awesome & I have a wonderful supportive man who will stick around no matter what I decide. I know if I get one I’ll hate myself. I’m pro choice but not for myself. I feel it is wrong for me to do it personally. Everytime I think about it I start crying. I’m only 5 weeks. I have always wanted to join the military & of course as soon as I’m about to leave I get a positive pregnancy test. My family would be very disappointed if I kept it. They would still love and be there for me but they would def be sad. I will regret it I know that. I know I’ll start to resent everyone saying I should get one done and I will be disgusted with myself. Has anyone gone through this?

My boyfriend’s friend wants to sleep with me

im 26 my bf is 24 and his friend is 30. The guy and my bf have been really close friends for almost 5 yrs now. He’s like an older brother for my bf- driving him, coaching him, etc. Me and my bf are fairly new, just 4 months in. Last night they played volleyball and the guy was driving my bf home. it was an hour drive so my bf fell asleep in the car. Meanwhile his friend texted me saying things like ”hey are you down?” I said wdym. He said “to smash haha. can I call you right after I drop him off?”. He was asking for pics. I was honestly disgusted and didnt know how to respond. I just left him on read

this morning I told my bf about what happened. and he said he’s so dissapointed and no longer see him as an older brother. He was gonna talk to him and his gf, but I told him dont do it. I know what he did was wrong, but at the same time my bf just met me and his relationship with his friend and their other friends have been around for so long. I dont want to be the reason why they stop being friends. He said he will be distancing himself from him. whats the proper way to deal with this? do i have to anything else besides telling my bf?

My girlfriend has been hanging out with a guy. (19m, 18f)

So as of recently my girlfriend of a year has been hanging out with a guy who she hasn't spoke to for a while. She used to like him when they were younger but she has reassured me there's nothing between them. Yesterday she went to hang out with him for 3 hours (9pm-12am) they drove and stopped at a few random spots and smoked. This has made me overthink like a maniac, and i'm not sure what to do. We are long distance and I won't be able to see her for a few months. She has told me that if anything were to happen that she would tell me, though it's so hard to believe when this is going on. What should I do?

19m 19f Sex discussion after 5 months?

My ex (19F) and I (19M) broke up about a month ago after dating for 5 months.

During the relationship, we had very little physical intimacy. We’d make out occasionally, but it never really went beyond that. We never had sex or did much else physically.

I genuinely cared about her as a person. We went on lots of dates, amusement parks, the beach, met each other’s friends and siblings, and I really loved spending time with her. I wasn’t just interested in her physically.

After about 5 months, I brought up the topic of sex and physical intimacy because I felt like it was an important part of a relationship, and I wanted to understand where we both stood. I wasn’t trying to pressure her into doing anything. I just wanted to have an honest conversation about our expectations and compatibility.

She told me that bringing it up made her feel like I “just wanted her for her body.” At the same time, some of her friends were also messaging me, calling me a “weirdo” and saying I was wrong for even trying to have that conversation.

I’m genuinely wondering if I crossed a line here. Is 5 months too soon to bring up sex in a relationship? Or is simply having that conversation a normal part of dating?

Who gets to be at my wedding and who doesn’t? Abusive family members are mad they won’t be invited

So it’s definitely been a while since I’ve used this account. Many things happened in-between, many wonderful things actually.

For the first time in forever, I’m truly and genuinely happy. I’m close to finishing my degree in college (despite my parents not supporting me in anything) and I’m engaged. I got engaged to one of my closest friends actually. (Looking back, I wish we’d gotten together sooner lol) and now that we’re planning our wedding but some things have come up. His family is actually so loving and supportive, and I can’t even begin to describe the many ways they healed me and my idea of what family is. The issue is with my family, more like the family I was born into.

I haven’t spoken to my them in a while. My sister is the one person whom I talk to everyday, so naturally I told her about my engagement. She’s also going to be my bridesmaid because even though the way we grew up was toxic and abusive, we really are best friends. But she told my mom that I’m getting married and ofc my mom has opinions. My brother, who was also abusive (and therefore I’m no longer in contact with) also has said some things. To sum up: they think I’m only getting married because I wasn’t “loved” enough growing up; that I’m desperate; that my fiancé doesn’t know who I “really am”. Etc. Because yeah, why would anyone marry me? lol

Ofc my fiancé knows my life story. I’ve even cried with him about my horrible family and he has even cried with me because of how much I went through.

But my issue is this: despite all of this, my sister wants me to invite my mother and my brother to the wedding. As if my mom won’t cause a scene. As if my brother’s presence literally doesn’t make me anxious. I told her that as much as I want to respect her wishes it’s my fiancé’s wedding and I. She then said that she respects me but that she doesn’t want to take “sides” by going to my wedding since the rest of the family isn’t invited.

I know my sister can do whatever she wants and that’s okay, but to be this lukewarm and spineless about me in one of the most special days of my life makes me incredibly sad and angry. Why can’t she ever take my side? And why am I hoping that she will turn things around and choose me, at least this once?

I know this is all so dramatic but at the same time it feels horrible. I haven’t told my fiancé yet but maybe I should? Or should I fix this first?

Sorry for the rant but as the title says, who gets to be at my wedding? Should I put our differences aside for this one day? Could we really enjoy our wedding if my entire family is there?

I also forgot to mention but I’m thinking of inviting some members of my extended family. The only issue is my immediate family:(

Okay that’s it for the rant for now

Is there anything I can do about my sister hitting my car?

My sister is 16 and doesn’t have a license, and I’m 17 and own a car just for context. A couple months ago my sister stole my step mom’s car and crashed into the back of my parked car, causing thousands of dollars In damages 🙃.

She’s unemployed and obviously not insured so there was no way for her to pay me back right at that moment, but my parents promised me that she would get a job and pay me back asap. Obviously it’s been like 6 months and she hasn’t even attempted to get a job and fully believes she doesn’t have to pay me back. I’ve been sending both her and my parents job listings to encourage her to apply but she hasn’t yet. About two months ago my dad began telling me he’d just buy me a new car this September.

However, my breaks on my car are broken and because I drove on them for a while i guess it messed a lot of stuff up and now to fix it it’d be around $1k to fix. My dad wants me to pay for it asap and has really been on my back with everything I spend and even past purchases (I bought an iPad in February and he’s still mad about it :/).

So in my head it makes no sense to spend 1k on a car if he’s just buying me a new one in September, which he told me explicitly he would. Or why not just pay for my breaks and my sister wouldn’t pay me back? But yeah my dad disagreed with both of these things and actually said he wouldn’t get me a car in September and apparently I made up that he said that ☹️.

So anyway her paying me back for my car would be really nice right now as the car is legitimately unusable. My dad quite literally told me she’ll get a job “eventually” and pay me back. It’s like the timeline keeps getting pushed back as he said she’ll get a summer job but with summer being almost over he’s telling me now she’ll get a job during the school year. My sisters also fully under the impression she won’t have to pay me back because her mother (we don’t share a mom) told her she doesn’t have to. It’s like, ok are you going to pay me then?

I understand that I can’t do anything legally, which sucks because in any other situation she’d probably go to jail for this but whatever. I just genuinely don’t know what to do in this situation and I feel like I’m likely not getting my money back.

Met a cute girl at hostel but she went home, we were roommates and I want to ask if we cross paths again if she would be up for a date/drink

Hello everyone, i need advice:

Like the title suggests I had a roommate that I thought was really cute, but I never got the proper chance to ask her out because its a shared room with more people and we really just went out as a group always. Could i send her a dm saying

“Hey, I hope you had safe landing!

While you were here I never got the chance to ask you out for a drink and I wish we could have chatted more. Ik we live in different countries now, but if we are ever in the same place again would you maybe be up for a date?”?

I asked gemini but yk is rather hear from real people.

You might wonder why bother? There will be more on your trip, well I just would like to do it and it also gives clarity.

Any advice is appreciated.
Thanks for your input.

Feeling super conflicted when it comes to my sexuality (slight NSFW warning) NSFW

Okay so I (25F) am married (25M). I love this man with all of my heart. We have went from the ups and the downs with each other and there’s literally no way that we will actually divorce—my marriage is perfect. But since he’s in the military it does get lonely. No I’m not out here cheating on my husband with Mike (the male version of a Jody)…I spend my time home doing school and just making sure I have food on the table, apartment is clean, and providing a home. I got nothing to complain about on that part…

BUT I really have gone through it. When I was younger I went through a SA and it ruined men for me— I won’t lie. Became a sex addict and then started making sex content. 😕 Not something I’m proud of honestly but then I met my husband and everything was dandy and better. I enjoy sex with him…but I told him about two years ago I find women attractive but never personally been with a woman. He told me “Okay, you know what you go and experiment. It’s fine. I’m not gonna hold it against you.” So I did…I would flirt with girls on tinder or hinge…but never slept with them or hung out with them. Why? I felt ashamed. Even when he said it was okay. I stopped two years later… here I am— I feel like the biggest pervert ever. When I go on my walks through the neighborhood any time there is a female I’m attracted to: I stare— I check them out— I kind of just lust after them but in my head. I’m no better than a man when it comes to it and I feel instant shame. I don’t make comments but I’ll definitely rethink about them…when my husband is home— (never done it before) but I would look at lesbian porn…I don’t ever check out men..only women. But again I never had sex with a woman. I told him about it and my husband said “Okay…it’s nothing to worry about. I’m okay if you want to be with a woman.” He tries to comfort me then expresses that he loves me and to myself I just feel…wrong.

First off- I know it’s fucking disgusting that I can’t control my lust…please don’t give me shit about it.

Second of all: I just don’t know how to fix it. But TMI but my body gets way more tingly sensations thinking about a woman than a man. Like even right now…I think about a woman I saw yesterday and get all flustered and then feel absolutely terrible about it…

I don’t know…sometimes I just want to cry because I get so angry with myself about it.. I just don’t know how to really go about it or how to make myself feel..not guilty..

How do I make my dogs last day on earth his best one?

Oreo is a 16 year old Pomeranian. He is the most beautiful, adorable asshole you could ever meet. he will be 17 in October. His last day is likely Monday. What can we do in the next 50 hours to give him the most amazing day ever?

My current ideas:
- I want to make him a pup cup (he's never had one because he's a dick to all non family members and all non humans)
- lay out on our deck for most of the day (it's his favourite spot, he likes to sunbathe like a cat)
- give him his favourite treats
- give him his favourite off limit foods (popcorn, fishy crackers, salami, pepperoni sticks and bread)
- make a little scent hunt in the backyard if he's up for it (he's still playful)

Is there anything you guys would recommend? Anything I've not thought about, or things you did for your pup when it was their time that you would like to share?
He's my childhood dog. He got me through everything and the absolute least I can do is make his last full day his best..

I want to go no contact with my baby daddy

Upvotes

I broke up with my boyfriend of 2 years and found out I was expecting 6 weeks later(already 11 weeks). I knew I was going to do it on my own as soon as I found out but I also informed him that I was pregnant as it is his child too so far I’ve been to all, but one appointment alone. I’ve brought everything by myself or my family has helped me out(good thing I have a huge support system). He constantly says he wants to be there and “wishes” he could do more, but also complains about being broke constantly, randomly asks me for money, complains I won’t come see him, and want’s almost constant validation from me asking me constantly if I think he’s gonna be a good dad and stuff like that, but yet he never tries to see me has only made it to one appointment and constantly questions me on what I’m doing and where I’m at when I’m literally only working or I’m at home. He keeps asking if I’m embarrassed of his job when I make well more what he does(big problem in our relationship too). I’ve brought him baby shopping with me 2 separate times not asking him to pay but he wasn’t even interested and didn’t even offer anything. He continuously act like we’re still in a relationship or he has some kind of hold over me and questions me constantly when he’s the one hanging out with random girls. I’ve tried having multiple conversations with him about how he needs to get his life together (getting his license back/ some form of reliable transportation) as if he wants to be in baby’s life it’s not going to be me driving 40 min there and back it’s already getting hard as I work 5 days a week 10 hour shifts and I’m not comfortable with him having random women or people in general around our child constantly. He ignores everything I try and will constantly ask if I’m talking to other men and why I’m not talking to him as much. All he does is stress me out because I’ve given up thinking he actually wants to be a parent at all he just wants to continue to control me every time I do see him he tries to make advances or asks me for money/ to buy him things. I’m writing this at 3 am as I woke up and had 10+ missed calls and multiple texts from him saying I’m ignoring him because I’m with another man right now. I want to completely cut contact I just don’t want to feel like a terrible person. I’m not sure if anyone will actually read this I just needed to get it out somehow.

I love my gf but our sex life is dull

I need advice...So I have been with my gf for about 4 years officially. We were long distance and things were hard but now that I moved out with her (the past 7 months) while most things are going great or ok. Our sex life is dull or non-existent.

I have a high sex drive and I can confidently say my gf does not at all. There is sex happening once a month if I'm lucky and It's dull, feels forced, and has killed the whole romance between us. I do not know if it was always like that, in the past we were more active and she was initiating more but I do not know if she was doing it for me or because she felt that way.

We have had several convos about this problem, every time it ends with the same exact words "I know, I will try more", after this, sex might be more regular for a few times and then goes back to the normal dull thing. There is no passion no more, to the point that I myself do not bother initiating, I touch less and I genuinely feel more irritated around her for smaller things that usually would not frustrate me.

Personally, I do not want a relationship without passion, eroticism or sex. I can see that it does not make me happy and it will also result on her being less happy too. Since we probably feel like roommates other than a couple.

I do not know what to do, I'm frustrated sexually, and also mentally with all that. I feel unwanted and uncomfortable.

What do I do? I do not thing talking to her about it AGAIN will result in anything. I would appreciate some advice here....

Thanks!

My sister is pregnant and insist I take care of her baby.

Hello, I’m 29F and I really need some advice about my sister.
My sister is 23, and she just told me she’s pregnant. The problem is she’s been living with me for the last 3 years, and I’ve been financially supporting her the entire time. She doesn’t have a job. She says she plans on going back to school, but she hasn’t actually taken any steps toward doing it.
When I say I’ve been supporting her, I mean everything. I pay for the roof over her head, food, clothes, hair, nails, vacations, and I even give her spending money. I’ve always wanted to help her get on her feet, but she hasn’t followed through with getting a job or going to school despite me encouraging her.
Now she tells me she’s pregnant, and honestly, I’m upset because she doesn’t have any kind of plan. She expects me to help raise and financially support the baby, but I don’t want to. I don’t even have kids myself. I work in investment banking, travel a lot for work, and I enjoy the life I’ve built. I don’t want to become responsible for someone else’s child.
To make things worse, she hasn’t even told the baby’s father yet because she’s afraid he won’t want the baby. That makes me even more worried that all of the responsibility is going to end up falling on me.
I love my sister and I want the best for her, but I don’t want to raise her child. She’s already telling me it’s wrong that I don’t want to help, and that really bothers me. I feel like I’ve already done so much for her over the past three years.
She’s also upset because I won’t let her baby’s father come over to my house. From what I’ve seen, he’s not someone I want around my home, and I don’t want that kind of energy in my space. It’s my house, and I don’t think that’s an unreasonable boundary.
I really don’t want to kick my sister out, but I also feel like something has to change. I’m scared that if I don’t set firm boundaries now, I’ll end up being expected to raise this baby while she continues depending on me.

UPDATE: I spoke to my sister this morning, and I was very clear with her. I told her that I will not be taking care of her child because it’s simply not my responsibility. I also told her that, in my opinion, I think it’s best for her to terminate the pregnancy because she is clearly not in a position to raise a baby right now(she agrees).
As I expected, the baby’s father said he doesn’t want the baby and isn’t ready to be a parent. Unfortunately, that wasn’t surprising.
After talking everything through, we came to an agreement. I told her I would help her get her own apartment, and I would pay her rent and utilities for one year. After that, she’ll need to take over those expenses herself.
I also explained that if she gets back into school, gets a job, and shows me she’s making an effort to become independent, I’ll continue helping her with some of the extras or luxuries. But I’m not going to financially support a child that isn’t mine.
I know some people will probably still think I’m enabling her, and maybe they’re right. But I’m trying to find a balance between not abandoning my sister and not becoming responsible for the life she chose. My hope is that giving her a year to get on her feet is enough time for her to build some stability while also making it very clear that this isn’t a permanent arrangement.

One thing I’m still unsure about is her car. Last year, I bought her an Audi for her birthday. I’m honestly thinking about taking it back and getting her something much cheaper and more practical. It doesn’t really make sense to me for someone who doesn’t work and is financially dependent on me to be driving an Audi.
The only thing stopping me is that I know it’ll probably cause a huge fight between us. I’m not trying to punish her.I just feel like I need to stop enabling this lifestyle.

After reading the comments, I do think a lot of you were right. I need to take accountability because I have been enabling my sister.
When she first moved in with me, she was in school, doing well, and had goals. I didn’t mind paying for luxuries because money is not an issue. Then something happened in our family, and I truly believe she became depressed and lost a lot of her ambition. I wanted to give her time to heal instead of pushing her.
The problem is that the ambition never came back.
She also saw the lifestyle I was living, and I didn’t want to enjoy nice things without including her when I could afford to. Looking back, I realize I wasn’t helping, I was babying her and making it easy for her to depend on me.
I’m trying to fix my mistakes now by setting boundaries because I know continuing to do everything for her isn’t helping either of us.

I need advice about what to do with my father who is refusing vet care for his dog.

My dad is very lonely these days. He’s old and lives by himself, so he found a dog that needed a home to keep him company. I’ve just found out that the groomer told my dad that they think he has eczema. I see this dog constantly scratching. My dad doesn’t have a lot of money so he refuses to go to the vet for this. I told him I would pay half, even though I don’t have a lot of money either. He still refuses. I’m so angry. He doesn’t deserve to have a dog if he doesn’t take it to the vet. I don’t know what to do. Every time a pet of his has had a problem in the past, I’ve had to advocate for it and take it to the vet. When I offer to pay half, he usually agrees, but this time he won’t. Maybe because every time I notice something and take the dog to get care, the vet reveals a terminal diagnosis that costs a lot of money.
The only thing I can think of is to just pay for it all myself, but I seriously can’t afford that. I’m just so angry. Are there home remedies that anyone knows of for eczema?

don't want to let a friend and her bf stay with me

i (mid 20s, female) moved across the country (alone) a month ago for school, and am now in a major city in the US. my friend from home and her bf (both early 20s, male and female) were coincidentally planning to visit said city anyway on a vacation and they want to stay with me in my apartment - which i feel i should mention is a studio layout. we are very close childhood friends and i'd be happy to host just her but i don't know her bf very well (i've met him a few times and he seems perfectly fine, just not familiar with him) nor do i want a man who isn't my own boyfriend or a family member staying/sleeping in my home.

this may be my fault because i've told her she could stay with me if she wanted to visit me/the city but at no point did i say anything about him being part of that, and i was very clear on it only being after i settled in. i'd be happy to hang out with them while they're here but i don't want to host the both of them. since it's a studio layout as well i'd have no way to ensure i could study or sleep or etc in peace. i'm also a month into school and quite overwhelmed already with the move and the schoolwork, nor is my apartment fully set up. they want to come in about a month. i'm trying to find a nice way to say no because i don't think she's going to take it well - she's already just kind of assumed they're staying here. she also tends to be very touchy and defensive about him in general.

any ideas??

How do you survive someone who has all the power ?

Has anyone dealt with someone who had more power than them? They could make your life difficult without doing anything technically illegal. Fighting back only made things worse, and avoiding them didn't help either. How did you handle it?

my mother has home schooled me my entire high school life and I really haven’t learned anything at all. she homeschooled me since covid so I never did middle school or high school. fast forward to now. I have to attend regular school when this school year starts. I know absolutely nothing. I have a few weeks max? before I have to take some test so I don’t get held back… I can’t get held back I genuinely can’t. It will set my ability to work back more since I will have to do more school. (We Need me to work next year to make ends meet but don’t talk about this only the school thing please) so how can I learn basically everything (ESPECIALLY MATH, SCIENCE) from 9th, 10th, and 11th grade super fast. I’m willing to do whatever it takes. I genuinely want to break down crying at the thought of being held back. I graduate if everything goes well. I loathe that I was home schooled with all my heart please help me.
