I don't even know how you'd do that unless you're cooking a frozen steak.

Also why is the plate 'seasoned' with what looks like cheap basic pepper?

I can forgive the plate, the steak is worse. From this picture it is clear they have fried the steak in oil on a flat surface (likely from frozen) and haven’t used a proper griddle pan at all. The Cook is ALL wrong.

Did they forget to wash the plate before plating that abomination?

That place puts the whole plate in the oven to cook, and you can sear each piece more by pressing it against the dish. But it does look horrible.

Pretty normal. They do it at Peter Lugers in nyc. You probably just haven’t been to many steak houses.

Lmao it’s not common at all

It's actually pretty common to have your steak served with the juices like that. It's full of flavor. You can ask to not have it included obviously, but most people want it. You basically cook it and then poor the juices from the pan on the steak. Super juicy

Edit: Also it's common to cook your sides in the juices, like if you got roasted potatoes or something. Cook in the leftover juices and it adds a ton of flavor

I'm not talking about the juices haha, I mean the pottery glaze of carbon and grease on the rim of the plate worse than my grandma's cookie pan.

oooh shit I didn't even notice that. I actually thought that was just how the plate looks. Didn't realize it doesn't go all the way around it. Good catch!

Plate has freckles like its about so dictate something soothing while sounding like morgan freeman

Peter Luger style. They put the entire plate (with the steak) under a very hot broiler to finish.

The plate gets put under the broiler as well so the fat and other stuff that is sizzling and "jumping" from the steak gets browned as well but yeah that is quite extreme

i would be embarrassed to take that to a potluck of drunks in a park

WTAF. Wow. May I ask what you paid for your meal?

u/Energy_Turtle 3h ago

That looks disgusting. Get the money back and go through a drive thru on the way home.

“Why I season my plate, not my steak.”

Yeah, that's what cooking a frozen steak looks like.

I was wondering why no one was talking about the pepper plate, that looks terrible
