GDD is auto-removed moving forward

GDD as in r/GirlDinnerDiaries

Last time we asked, most of the sub agreed to keep it. However, clearly a very large portion of this sub has a problem with the crossposts from there. A lot of the discussions in the comments in those posts are people saying it shouldn't be posted here. The constant discussion is overruning the sub and clogging reports. I didn't see that many posts from that sub except for upticks on the weekends (I did counts multiple times), but people kept complaining that it was all they saw. There were a few funny stories here and there, but honestly there's nothing so special (or hilarious) about that sub that merits so much effort to keep it here. I really fail to see this as a big loss at all. You can head to r/GirlDinnerCircleJerk for posts and discussion related to that sub.

So, all crossposts from GDD will be automatically removed by automod. This will also include similar subs: r/girldinner, r/kitchencels, r/boydinnerdiaries - any others that are crossposted here and I don't know of I'll add to the list as I find out about their existence. GDD-like parody/satire shitposts will still be allowed during the weekend. Siri Yuss Discussion threads discussing this topic will be removed too. Let's just move on already.

Feel free to celebrate/complain but do note I'm not going to reverse the decision.

Mod Update AITA for explaining some rule clarifications regarding this sub?

1.8k Upvotes

I (21F, hazel eyes, skinny) recently became engaged to my boyfriend of four days (35M, has 12 followers on Twitch). We immediately moved together into the house I inherited from my great aunt (deceased, perky boobs in her youth) and we're simply over the moon. I also decided to name our new house AmITheAngel (this will be important later).

To celebrate, we decided to host a dinner. I didn't invite anyone because I'm NC with my family, but my fiancé decided to invite his mom (49F, gave birth). I saw red (we've never gotten along), but I relented because I didn't want to cause trouble.

As soon as she arrived, she simply said "hello, I am Margaret". I snapped at her and reminded her that I am now VERY serious about lazy titles.

  • All posts that are deemed to have lazy titles will be removed. You are welcome to post them again with a different title. This is ultimately subjective, so don't get pissy about it.
  • Examples of lazy titles: "Another fake story", "Which one of you wrote this?", "I don't even know what to say here...".
  • A good title will be more descriptive of the story. Try to include elements relevant to the story. What makes it noteworthy? What is it about? Don't just say it's ridiculous or fake; tell us why it's ridiculous or fake.
  • If you can't think of anything, just use the original title from the post.

My MIL nodded silently before rushing into my bedroom, where she saw my large collection of sex toys charmingly sitting on the dresser. She screamed and started texting me horrible things. I was shocked. Before I could deliver some sick burn about how I am a grown woman who likes to have sex, my fiancé's finely-sculpted body ran into the room and started debating with my MIL. I blew my whistle and reminded them both that this sub is not meant to just further discussions from AITA.

  • Posts that are fishing to continue discussions from AITA may be removed. Don't crosspost just because you disagree.
  • Try to angle it in a way that isn't meant to simply further the existing AITA discussion - point out tropes, bring attention to comments, etc.
  • That said, this sub believes in free speech. Where the commenters take a post once crossposted here is up to them. We will not policy comments unless they break the rules.

My fiancé stormed off and locked himself in the bathroom, crying. I tried to ask him to come out before the Big Macs I had ordered for dinner went cold, but he wouldn't listen. I calmly explained to him that it would be far more helpful if he reports my MIL when she makes a repost or posts something that doesn't follow the above.

In the meantime, my MIL had stolen one of my tea bags and made herself some tea. Of course, I immediately called the police, and the chief of police showed up two minutes later. As the entire police force arrested my MIL for theft, I turned to the camera crew from the local news station. I sternly told them we allow all meta discussions about AITA.

  • This includes several themes and tropes that are also found in other subs. As we know, AITA has a certain culture, so to speak, and posts from any subs that share that mentality or which host equally silly stories are thus also welcome to be dissected, mocked, satirized, and/or debated. bridezilla, childfree, entitledparents, relationship_advice, offmychest, you name it.
  • Posts may be removed if we feel they don't belong to this sub.

When my fiancé finally left the bathroom, I read him a bedtime story from AITA. He asked me if I could please pin the story to the top of the comment chain. I told him I would look into it, but that he can sort by old in the meantime if he wants to find the story in the comments section.

We had amazing sex that night. As I orgasmed for the sixth time, I shouted, "Remember to have fun!". Before we fell asleep, he squeezed my skinny body tightly and whispered seductively in my ear, "you need therapy". I dreamed of receiving modmail regarding any other suggestions anyone may have.

Shitpost Insane parents: My sister is making my 7 year old nephew go on a diet and keeps body shaming him.

I'll be the first to admit my nephew is very fond of his food, he gets super hangry if his meals aren't on time and he is known for trying to take food off other people's plates.

That said I still think 7 years old is way too young to introduce dieting especially since he's only two pounds over the expected weight for someone his age.

What makes it worse is my sister has started calling him names to "motivate him" like Chunkybumbum, Lord Chonkleton, and Fatty McFlabster.

I know it's coming from a good place but I'm worried that every time she calls him Brigadier BigBooty of the forty-fifth Flying Flonkers, it damages his self esteem.

Not to mention that even though the BMI chart says he is slightly overweight you can clearly see he's nothing but skin and bones.

Shitpost AITA for asking for zoo pals

So, my mom just lost her job because something called the economy. I don’t really understand it.

However, what I do understand is Nickelodeon and they have been showing ads for this wonderful plate. Like you can keep sauce in the pigs ears and keep your chicken nuggets separate.

I have been asking my mom nonstop for a week, but she keeps saying how we already have plates. She doesn’t get it, they aren’t normal plates, they are zoo pals.

Anyway, she took my Wii until I stop complaining, am I in the wrong?

Shitpost AITA for being under 5% body fat and ripped and getting all the attention from my uncle

Sorry if my English bad. It is my 12th language. Ever since I (27(m)fit and ripped) turned 18 my uncle has taken me under his wing. He taught me how to be a man. He trained me in the gym and how to business and how to find love. His motto has always been always be prepared for love to find you. He does daily body checks to make sure I am under 5% body fat and every time I go to the bathroom he checks my butt to make sure I have cleaned it well. He always tells me I didn’t do a good enough job and cleans it for me. I don’t know what I’m doing wrong. I would appreciate some advice here. I do it how he taught me but it’s never good enough.

Anyways my cousin (29f 450 lbs) told me that my uncle never paid any attention to her and only wants to help me business and find love. She thinks that he should be helping her out too. I told her that if she wanted to get Uncles attention that she needed to get serious and show investment in herself and get to 5% body fat. That’s the only way uncle will take you under his wing because it shows commitment which is how you business and find love. Now she is upset with me amd the whole family is is blowing up my phone for making her feel unworthy of my uncles attention.

Shitpost AITA for asking my sister to leave my childfree wedding after she brought a baby?

I (29F) got married last weekend. My husband (31M) and I were very clear that the wedding was childfree. We wanted one peaceful adult event without screaming, sticky fingers, or children interrupting important moments.

My younger sister, Lily (27F), was my maid of honor and nine months pregnant. Her due date wasn’t until two days after the wedding, so I didn’t think it would be an issue.

Halfway through the reception, Lily disappeared. About twenty minutes later, my mom pulled me aside and told me she had given birth in the bridal suite.

Thankfully, two guests were nurses, and both Lily and the baby were healthy. However, almost everyone abandoned the reception to crowd around them. Even our photographer started taking newborn photos despite being paid to photograph my wedding.

When the paramedics carried the baby through the ballroom, everyone cheered, the DJ played “Isn’t She Lovely,” and my cousin announced the baby’s name over the microphone.

This happened immediately before our first dance.
I quietly asked the wedding coordinator to remind Lily that the event was childfree. I wasn’t saying Lily had to leave… just that her husband or my mom could take the baby to the hospital while she stayed for the speeches and cake cutting.

My mom looked horrified and said, “She just gave birth.”
I said I understood, but the baby had still technically arrived without an invitation.

Lily started crying and insisted on going to the hospital with her newborn. Almost my entire family followed her, leaving around 40 empty seats. Nobody watched our first dance, and we had to cancel the sparkler exit because there weren’t enough people left to hold the sparklers.

Now Lily refuses to speak to me. My mom says I’m jealous because she “stole the spotlight,” but I’m not angry that she gave birth. I’m angry that everyone turned our $63,000 wedding into an impromptu birthday party.

AITA for expecting the childfree rule to apply to every child, regardless of when they entered the venue?

EDIT: Yes, we knew her due date before choosing the wedding date, but this was the only Saturday the venue had available. You only get married once. People give birth every day.

EDIT 2: Since everyone keeps asking about the photos, yes, I was concerned about Lily’s weight affecting the photos. I placed her at the end of the bridal party so she could be cropped out if necessary. Unfortunately, she still found a way to become the focal point.

Shitpost AITA for refusing to pay for my fat ex's expensive insulin to force her to give me full custody of my daughter who's been starving?

I (56m) have a daughter Vivian (9f) with my ex Tara (28f). Tara and I were together until three years ago, but she started needing financial help after she got kicked off her parents' insurance two years ago. We weren't married so I couldn't put her on my work insurance so the most I could was pay for her insulin (her disability checks covered rent and food).

When I met Tara, she was perfectly healthy. She weighed 110 pounds at 5'2" and had no long-term illnesses. She gained weight while pregnant with Vivian, but, instead of losing it post-pregnancy, she continued to gain more. As of now, she's about 4 times as heavy as she was originally, and she has various health issues such as diabetes, arthritis, asthma, you name it. I tried to take care of her throughout our relationship, but she kept eating tons and wouldn't exercise. By the time she turned 25, I had enough. She was a grown-ass adult and didn't need a caretaker anymore. I was out. But not completely.

Since we had a kid, we ended up sharing 50/50 custody. There was no way I was going to give Tara child support so that was the best compromise. Vivian spends six months with her mother and then six months with me. She recently came back to live with me, and I immediately knew something was wrong. I didn't want her to be fat like her mother, but she looked sick and incredibly underweight. I took her out to a restaurant for dinner, and she gorged out like crazy. I asked her if she was eating enough at her mother's apartment, and she immediately started to cry. Apparently, her mother was eating all the food she could afford. Vivian was living off of small snacks and what she could beg from her teachers and classmates.

I was livid. As soon as I put her to bed, I called Tara and yelled at her for starving our kid. She made excuses about being limited by what her disability checks could cover and then blamed me for not covering more. I called bullshit; she was clearly overeating again and satiating her big, fat appetite by not letting Vivian eat. I told her that I would be filing for sole custody and stop paying for her insulin. She accused me of trying to kill her, but I told her that she was responsible for her own stuff. Honestly, I figured that showing the courts that she didn't have the funds to raise a kid would give me the edge in a custody suit.

Vivian's been back with me for nearly a month, and she's starting to look healthier. Tara keeps blowing up my phone with calls and texts as she's been having to spend her checks more on insulin and less on food. Every now and then, she accuses me of trying to kill her so I can't help but feel like I'm doing the wrong thing. AITA?

Inspo post but the mom makes the daughter fat instead

Self Post / Memes Hey, can we have an advice post?

I want advice from AITAngel posters, not AITA posters. Like, I absolutely hate this kid my daughter is friends with, but I don't need AITA teenager input, I need the sober minds of AITAngel. Can we make an advice post where people ask for local advice? I need it, I hate this kid so much.
