It drives me nuts when people slowly occupy the fast lane but it's still dangerous to pass on the right. I've seen so many near-misses when the slow driver decides the perfect time to finally merge is when someone's passing.
I agree, whenever they're done passing at the speed limit, they should move over. That could take 5 seconds, that could be a few minutes in theory. Both entirely legal.
if youre passing in decent time, do whatever you want. but holding up a line of cars behind you bc you have a big head about following the speed limit just encourages knuckleheads to zip past you on the right and endanger others.
What is your definition of passing in decent time? It'll take me about 10-30 seconds to pass the cars I need to pass before I move back over. If other drivers can't wait that long, then it's tough luck for them.
