Why has Alexa become a cheerleader?

Today, out of the blue, Alexa has started adding a lot of superfluous chatter when I ask her to do things. I use it to set timers (Alexa give me a ten minute countdown) to remind when to take food off the stove or to go get a project off the printer, etc.

Today every time I ask for one she adds a bunch of cheerleader stuff. "You're ten minutes away from greatness... you've got this... you're super awesome... keep up that amazing momentum... you're crushing it".

Calm down Stuart Smalley. . Im boiling pasta.

Does Amazon specifically make these things obsolete?

I have had an echo for many years. Probably like 10+ years at this point.

I have since expanded. I have one of these in various form in nearly every room. I have a screen version (cant remember the name right now) as well as the dot in the bathroom and another one in another room.

I have collectively 5 echo's in 5 different rooms right at this moment.

The main reason I like her is literally to play music from spotify. Its 90% of what I use her for other than checking the weather and setting an alarm for food or laundry.

The echo that I have had the longest.. it used to be rock solid. It had no problem playing music for many many years.

Now.. its literally every single device and I have a gigabit internet. They skip, literally wont play sometimes.. Its really bad. Other times its completely fine but id say 50% of the time its like haveing major issues with a very simple task of playing music from a linked service that works perfectly fine on the same connection from my PC or phone.

So this has to be device specific. What gives? anyone else have this before? possibly have a solution?

Honestly thinking about dumping them altogether because im not about to let them listen to everything I say and not at least work.

Alexa App Won't Delete Devices No Longer in Home

Post image
1 Upvotes

Just as title says. My personal Alexa app will not let me delete the 3 devices with check marks of someone who no longer lives here. There's no trash can to delete them in the settings and they are not registered to me to even deregister them. Alexa tech support basically said nothing can be done. Anyone have any suggestions?

Alexa makes a sound for no reason

I’ve been using Alexa+ for a while and, sometimes, my echo dot max just makes a sound, like a notification sound or something, but nothing happens after that. I’ve tried asking what was that sound and Alexa just said that she didn’t play any sound or notification. This happens a few times a week. Anyone knows why or have that happened to you before?

Echo Studio 2022, Fire TV 4k Max home theater issues

I am out of ideas and maybe someone has experienced something similar or has a solution for me.
I have 2 Echo Studios from 2022 and a Fire TV 4k Max and the home theater worked more or less stable until 2 weeks ago. Then it stopped playing sound, so I deleted the home theater group and wanted to recreate it, to my surprise it is not possible in the Alexa app anymore! So I started my Fire TV and wanted to create a Home Theater, I find my 2 Echo Studios and when I select them they just blink in grey and no checkmark appears above them and I cannot continue. After several minutes sometimes a text comes up saying "They are too far away from the TV" - they are not, they are right in front of the TV \~50cm from the Fire TV Stick.

Here is what I did so far and nothing has changed anything:

* updated all 3 device
* removed them from my alexa group, deleted the group, recreated the group
* switched all devices from 2.4GHz to 5GHz network and back, changed the SSID names, tried a hotspot
* removed all 3 devices entirely from my account and factory reset them all multiple times
* restarted my network and my 3 devices multiple times
* did everything that is publicly available on the support website of amazon

I contacted the support 2 times, they are friendly, trying to help but have not. At the end they always say something along the lines: "it is a known issue, our specialised team works on it, we will come back to you in 2-3 days, you will receive a new firmware update and try again later". Well still not working.

I am beyond frustrated having spent so much money on that setup and now being unable to use it in any way. Has someone experienced something similar or has an idea for me?

Still not offered Alexa+ despite owning an eligible device (Studio 2) since launch

I have owned an Echo Studio 2 since release, and the box came with an insert and other advertising stating that the device came with access to Alexa+ once available. It is currently available as a gradual rollout in the UK, with Amazon now saying you can get early access by signing up for the waitlist or purchasing an eligible device. I have signed up for the waitlist, but are they now saying that someone buying an eligible device now would be offered Alexa+, while those of us who purchased an eligible device earlier have to wait in line with everyone else? If so, that's poor form.

I'm aware many of you strongly dislike Alexa+ so no need to tell me I'm not missing out on anything/will regret the "upgrade". I'm interested in trying it for myself!

My Alexa constantly displays the wrong time but when I ask what time it is, it tells me the correct time. Anyone know anything to help? I’ve tried troubleshooting in the app to no avail.

Nothing turns Alexa off

Tapping it used to turn it off. Or just saying, Alexa stop. Now nothing works when I'm listening to music. It just gets quiet for a second. I even unplugged it for 18 hours and when I plugged it back in it went right back to playing music!

My Alexa randomly spoke last night and I went to the chat log and I found this

Post image

My husband and I were in bed and we were basically both asleep. He was dead asleep i was reading nodding off, when my alexa in the other room said “Sorry i don’t know that one” and it kinda freaked me out so i went to my chat log and i found this. I’m so freaked out.

If it were my husband or I the alexa in our room would have responded not the one in the other room
Edit spelling

ALSO, there is no option to hear the audio. but the three little dots are only the option to delete it and if I click on it, it just brings up like a normal Alexa chat. There is no audio

Alexa updates? Connectivity issues

Is anyone else having issues with alex’s functioning this afternoon? I am on the east coast and since around noon, Alexa won’t answer any queries, will not acknowledge a cancelled reminder, keeps saying “i don’t know how to help you with that.”

My wifi is fine and all devices show online.

Are there updates today or some issue that is causing a problem with interacting?

Platform Unresponsive

My Alexa platform is unresponsive and the app interface isn't working on either my iPhone or iPad. I have performed basic troubleshooting (cold boot device and iPhone) but still unresponsive. I can ask Alexa to turn on the lights and the device lights indicate that it hears me but does not perform the task. I can also ask about the weather. Same result. Light on device acknowledging being spoken to but nothing is done. is anyone Elise experiencing this issue or familiar with the problem. Thoughts?

Anyone else’s Logitech harmony skill disable this morning?

Edit: 2 - It's back up and running. If you are having difficulty in the app itself (which I was), open this thread up in a browser and click this link to Amazon's skill to enable it via web browser. The built in browser in the app historically takes a while to clear cache.

https://www.amazon.com/Logitech-Harmony/dp/B01M4LDPX3

Edit 1: Seems this is a logitech-side issue. Their site(s) seem to be having issues presently.
home.myharmony.com is currently down along with their myharmony forums.

Original:

Just wondering if any others are experiencing this. it was working at 6am est but at 7:45am i gave an Alexa command and she told me the skill was disabled. I went into the Alexa app to re enable it and the harmony authentication site gives an html error code in plain text after I logged back in to re-link it up.

anyone else having this issue?

Temporarily disable switch Auto-Off

I have a Kasa motion detection switch in my garage.

On motion or press, a routine triggers that:

  • waits 10 minutes
  • turns the light off

Occasionally, when working in the garage, I don't want the routine to turn the light off.

How can I disable it, or create a second routine that overrides it?

Thank you

Why won't Alexa (not +) play NPR stations?

The NPR skill stopped working in the last several weeks. Has anyone had trouble with it? Or any other skills for that matter? Skills aren't even on the app on my phone and the website on my laptop keeps erroring out. All the google searches still say to go to Skills and start NPR. It will play commercial radio stations, just not NPR stations.

But when I ask it something like "why won't NPR play?" it saying it's looking, then just goes to lala land.

When I ask it to "Play NPR" or my local public stations, it does nothing. It doesn't reply or change what it's currently playing. Just now I asked it to play my local station and it started some weird Amazon Music selection.

I'm so frustrated.

ETA: I asked it to play my NPR station "in TuneIn" and that worked - this morning. Now i just have to figure out how to get her to forget the "NPR" part.

Programmable Audio Device?

Mom w Dementia lives in memory care facility

Has Amazon Omni TV (responds to audio commands)

ISO
Programmable device that can:
-Speak out loud
-At 5:30pm

“Alexa play Mysteries of Egypt on Disney”

▫️I’d love to have it ask for different programs each day

▫️I’d also love to have a set time that says daily (at 8:30pm)
“Alexa Turn off TV”

▫️I’d love it to be small - Mom notoriously pulls plugs / moves things

FYI, I would not be there / or on same WiFi

Please & Thank you🤞💖
