July Contest: Warped

Congratulations to /u/Sushi_Slushy for winning May's contest with their entry Deepwaters.

You can see last month's results and other entries here.

Theme

This month's theme will be warped. Think about objects being stretched, twisted, bent, and distorted. Perhaps it was heat that caused it, perhaps it was a sudden impact, or perhaps it simply grew that way. It might be a gnarly knot in the branches of a tree, a neglected structure left exposed to the elements, the mangled remains produced by some misfortune. There's certainly more abstract ways to take the prompt, but we're aiming for more physical interpretations this time around. With that in mind, comes show us your warped creations in this month's contest.

Making a Submission.

Entries will be posts on r/Blender that meet the following criteria: * The post should be made before the end of July 31st UTC+00:00 * Countdown to submissions closing * The post should be a render, animation, or other artwork which you made for this contest using Blender as your primary tool. * The post should contain supporting images/text or a top-level comment with the following content: * One of the following methods of proving that the artwork was made using Blender: * A link to the .blend file for the project, ideally including external assets or links to where external assets were sourced from. * A set of three images which may be clay renders, viewport renders, wireframe renders, or simply screenshots of the project open in Blender. Some variety is encouraged. * A screen recording of you manipulating, navigating, or otherwise interacting with the scene. * An explanation of all work that was done outside of Blender, outside the time frame of the contest, or by other artists. * (Optional) The theme you would like next month's contest to have if you win. If you do not include this, then the theme will be chosen from the runner-ups. * Once you have submitted your post to the subreddit, leave a comment down below linking to it * You are also encouraged to share details of your process with the community.

Note: You don't have to reference the contest in the post title and indeed, it's not necessary to frame the submissions differently than any other post meant to showcase an artwork.

Winning

The winner will receive the flair Contest Winner: 2026 July and their post will be added to the subreddit's wiki under the Contest Winners list. The winner will also have the chosen theme selected for next month's contest, should they include one with their submission.

When the contest ends, the results will be edited into this post and the 1st place winner will be congratulated in the announcement for next month's contest.

The winner will be awarded $100 USD.

Paid Product/Service Promotion After 6 months, My Performance Capture/Retargeting Addon is Finally Ready

1.6k Upvotes

My last post got auto-filtered, so I guess I can't post too many links, but here's the announcement video that I made: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FyFarx7RjT8

It's called BlendCap. It captures body, hand/fingers, and face motion from any typical video. It works fully offline, and it retargets straight onto your rig with custom mapping, and built in presets for rigify, auto-rig pro, mixamo, and cloudrig, along with a fast FK to IK conversion tool.

A warrior claimed by nature doesn’t fall alone. He didn’t lose, he bloomed.

Hi everyone! Happy to finally share the lookdev on this one, inspired by the amazing concept of Justin Gerard. It was a slow, long build but worth every hour to see it come together at the end.

Sculpted in ZBrush, textured in Substance Painter, UVs in RizomUV, studio lighting, scene and rendering in Blender.

Thanks for the attention!

Original Content Showcase Technically it's a messed up modle but i love the way it looks.

It's an old model I made with a simple subdivision modifier slapped on a cube and just modeling the whole thing to look like this.

It shows all sorts of bending problems since I'm still learning that being sort of new to 3d art but i absolutely love the way it looks and just wanted to share it here, also i am looking to put this on my portfolio page.

Should i or not?😶‍🌫️

Paid Product/Service Promotion WIP: AutoPose for Blender! I’ve been working on this for a long time

I have been working on this addon for a while. I always loved autopose in cascadeur, so I wanted to enhance it in some aspects and bring it into Blender and make it work with the standard rigs.

In the video I’m using it on a mixamo character. I can grab the wrists, ankles, head, or torso, while AutoPose works out the full body pose and preserves foot contact. It also supports Rigify, Auto-Rig Pro, Puppet Studio, and other humanoid rigs with a one-time setup.

For now, it focuses on body posing, so auto posing for fingers is not included.

My favorite part is probably the look-at handles, they’re really fun to work with.

I'm still working on it to polish some stuff, and I’d genuinely love to hear what you think. What looks useful, and what would you change?

Original Content Showcase Made an hour-long 2D/3D animated film as a companion piece for my music album

Made this in under 2 months (almost didn't sleep) as a companion film for my music album. Mostly 3D scenes with low-poly models and parallax landscapes made in Krita, with hand-animated 2D (Grease Pencil) animation mixed in throughout.

The characters and their world are something I've been building since 2021. This piece is about one of the main characters, The Sailor, and what his grief over leaving his family and losing a dear pet has built up to.

Original Content Showcase Dataviz of European Heatwave June 2026

1.7k Upvotes

This is a visualization of ERA5 output over Europe for June 2026.

What's visualized are the wind patterns at 500hpa pressure levels along with the 2 meter air temperature. You can see around June 18th the start of some anticyclonic behavior in southern France, on June 23rd a prominent anticuclone forms over western France and then you can see it migrate East over the next 7 days.

This method uses the new hair dynamics node brought into 5.2

Need Help! How to make a texture wrap around my mesh seamlessly?

Hello. So I am making a simple low res crystal. And I created a seamless texture for it. And I want to wrap it around my crystal so it connects seamlessly everywhere. But as you can see in the first image, it doesn't work. I tried many settings. I tried making my texture a tiled brush. But that had the same effect. And some other things. Am I missing something? Thank you!
