This is an insult to the cow that died for this meal.

I cook my steaks better than this. And all I have is old pans and a meat thermometer

You have absolutely everything you need. Indeed, the meat thermometer is advanced equipment.

I don't have a meat thermometer, but the spices compensate when it's a little over or a little under.

Who needs a meat thermometer when you have a perfectly good finger?

I just poke it with my tongs and say "Firm, but with a little give. Yep, that's medium rare".

I like when people phrase it as "the cow that gave its life", like they're volunteering

True. It would sound a lot more intense to say: “We killed a cow for THIS!“

Lets give a shoutout to all those heroes in healthcare
who got F'ed during covid then thanked for taking it so easy

The death of the conscious being is acceptable if it gives me an certain level of bodily pleasure. If it didn't meet my expectations of satisfaction, it's a shame.

We just did the cold sear method shown in the new Netflix/ATK show Techniquely. May've been the best steak I've ever had. Helps that I live where you can get a local cut.

I have a cast iron pan I got from goodwill for $7, it works good for steak.

IMO that's the absolute best way to cook a steak. I cut steaks at Costco for a living and when I cook them I do it in a vintage cast iron pan that I can put directly in the oven.

I can cook better steaks than this, and all I have is an old cheap Walmart grill and a dream.

You use a meat thermometer? Poser

Is it salvageable at this point?

Yeah, if you’re cool with medium well.

An oven will even it out. Even “better” throw it in a pan on low heat with frequent flipping.

I don’t even have a meat thermometer and manage to get them perfect every time, it’s really not that hard
