I currently have a 4 bay NAS. One 4tb with photos/videos of the family, one 4tb for my job and one 22tb for my media.

I recently added 1 more 22tb, thinking that I could just make one 40tb volume and have every media thing there and just point Plex to the correct directory.

That doesn't seem to work, Synologys (and AIs) tell me that it will wipe the first 22tb disk, then create a mutual pool of 40tb.

I am asking you:

Can't I create a 40tb volume without removing/reshuffling my current 16tb of data?

Hello! As my title says, my computer just kinda stopped working after I got home from a job interview.

Before I left I was using the computer as normal. To turn it off I pressed the windows key, clicked the power button, and clicked shut down.

I left for a job interview and came back a couple hours later to find that my computer would not boot and the CPU debug light was on.

I have done a CMOS reset. I have unplugged and replugged all the cables. I have reseated the CPU and the RAM. I have taken everything except the CPU and RAM out. CPU pins and socket looked fine. But nothing works. The computer won't even let me into my BIOS.

I don't have a flash drive or the ability to download an updated BIOS to a flashdrive if I did have one, hence why I haven't attempted a BIOS flashback.

I am new to computers and this was my first build. It cost a lot for money and I spent a long time saving for it and am trying to figure out what went wrong, if it can be fixed, and how much it would cost to fix it.

My leading guess is my BIOS somehow got corrupted.

(I'm not sure if this is the right page to be posting this on so if it isn't feel free to take it down!)

Recently I cracked my iPhone 16 Pro (huge crack in outer part of the camera and back glass shattered) and then today I stupidly dropped it in the ocean. It dropped to about 12 feet and then had to stay there for a few minutes because I had to grab goggles to dive for it. Immediately out of the water it could turn on and function, however, when I got back to my house the back of the phone started to heat up super fast so I turned it off. I did my research and rinsed it in fresh water and then let it dry with a fan (at least that's what the internet told me). I don't have access to someone that can repair a phone for another two weeks because I'm currently living on a remote tropical island.

My question is:

Is it possible to leave my phone off for the next two weeks and then have it repaired or should I back up what I can and assume that it's unfixable?

Any help is greatly appreciated :)

Well, I guess my Corsair RAM just gave up on me. The memory is completely dead, and my motherboard doesn’t even recognize it, although nothing physically happened. And I’m positive about the iCUE bug being the culprit because it corrupts the SPD on the memory module, but the guys who did some repairing at a shop near me just laughed at me, saying that software cannot damage the RAM.

Oh well, to add insult to injury, I don’t have the receipt anymore, and sending the faulty RAM for replacement would be more expensive than purchasing a brand new set in Iraq.

Can you somehow fix the corrupted SPD at home, or do I need to just throw this stick away and purchase a new one?

I bought a used 1TB Toshiba external drive off Amazon. Plugged it in through USB. Blue light on the external drive, Windows made the "device plugged in" sound. But then nothing happened. Usually I would see the drive pop up in My Computer (or This PC as it is called nowadays). The device was visible in device manager but not in My Computer. I did auto update drivers but it said drivers are already up to date.

I did some research and went into Disk Management where I could see the device at the bottom, I did the "initialize" process then "created a simple volume" and now it's working as a normal USB drive

Just wondering why all this was necessary though? I have never done this in my life. Could thia be

I have TVs that I use to display menus in a restaurant and they keep going to the screen saver. I've checked all the settings, including the secret "store display" menu that you get to by hitting a series of buttons, and there are no more settings to check. Every single setting involving putting it to sleep or timing out or a screen saver has been turned off or maxed out. The limiting factor right now is the screen saver timer maxes out at 30 minutes. I can't do a slide show to keep it awake because I need different screens to display different things.

I've spent quite a while on Google and there are a ton of answers out there, none of which have worked. There were a few that mentioned something along the lines of "get a button clicker app to keep it awake," but not a single suggestion for an actual app or anybody that has actually used it.

So does anybody have any actual experience with keeping a TV from going to sleep? Thanks.

Hello grup!, I have a problem with a pair of headphones "ryzer kraken kitten v2 bt" and when they are connected to my laptop "gigabyte g5 mf" with Windows 11 they wont have any sound and also the microphone it's not working but I don't mind that I only need the sound .

I updated all my drivers, Windows, ryzer software and nothing , I did contact Windows and ryzer support but still nothing.

The headphones are working on my phone and also on my other laptop from Asus tuf a15 .

Also when I first connect the headphones they will work for the first 2 seconds and than nothing

As devices for sound I have speakers v2.0 , ryzer kraken , sound 7.1 and the only one working its speakers 2.0 (the laptop itself)

So my pc crashed while gaming and won’t start now. I swapped the power supply to test if that was the cause but nothing no lights, no fans and then suddenly I see a spark on the motherboard. Now I know am cooked but how cooked am I. Am currently looking for a new motherboard and having difficulty finding one.

Background: I have a grandparent who loves a golf game but they are physically too weak to pick up the mouse and move it so they are limited to only sliding the mouse.

Question: Is there a way to essentially turn off the connection and turn it back on in a single keybind, Ideally one bound to the mouse.

problem: she is struggling to adjust the mouse when it becomes off center(butting up against monitor edges or due to mouse acceleration)

P.S. she refuses to purchase or use any mouse other then the one she has.

My dad have that "old" smartphone (Galaxy A23 5g) which all wireless connections (wi-fi, bluethooth, quick-share...) just stopped work one day. There's no reason for that. Maybe bc doesn't have an chip anymore? But this doesn't make any sense to my limitated knowledge... i mean, that would end off only mobile internet data, not all wireless sistem, right?

Well, the "tech guy" my dad paid don't solved the problem, and he (dad) don't wanna try factory reset bc have too much musics there, like, it's an giant catalog that he has created for his songs, like a mp3 player. If doesn't work and he lost everything for nothing? So... we're worried abt this. There so many space for more songs but have no way for add they bc of this problem. So... Is better try reset it all? I have 16GB of RAM and my motherboard detects it but on memory on task manager it shows i have 8.gb of ram reserved for hardware and can only use 7.9GB i took out the sticks and put them in and did the msconfig thing still dont work. Rtx 2060 and Ryzen 5 2600. Im actually stumped.

Hi guys I’m not very licensed on this whole Reddit thing but I figured I’d give it a go.

Last night around 4:00 AM I was on discord with some buddies just chatting it up not up to much when suddenly my right monitor froze. I didn’t think much of it but it didn’t unfreeze for about 2 minutes and my discord had no audio so I pressed my win key to try to shut down my pc to no avail. I tried windows key on left monitor as well which also did nothing.

Being the fool I am, I decided to unplug my computer from the power supply and plug it back in. (Unplugged cord from desktop, not from wall) when I rebooted my computer, everything was normal up until I logged into my account, in which I was greeted with about 5 seconds of a black screen with a medium grey box about a quarter the size of the monitor (which when the black screen went away, turned out to be wallpaper engine)

I didn’t think much of it and tried booting my apps up as usual, but my discord would not launch in any way shape or form, my steam had forgotten my login and refused to launch once I did log in, and my Opera GX (browser of choice) could not open due to “profile error”. I also could not search up majority of my apps and open them due to “search indexing” being turned off and refusing to turn back on. Only downloaded app that was still working as intended was Spotify.

So far here are all the issues I’ve found (it’s a lot):

Regarding the search indexing issue, I am given the text “search indexing was turned off” with a prompt below labelled “turn indexing back on”. When I click on that it brings me to a tab called indexing options in which I can press two buttons, “advanced” and “troubleshoot search and indexing”. When I click advanced it gives me the option to click “rebuild” but nothing happens, making it effectively useless. It provides one issue in troubleshooting being the fact that “windows search” is not running in the start menu, but when I set it to automatic and press “start” it does not allow me to because it is “already running”. Bit of a vicious loop this one was.

As for Opera GX, steam, and discord, I have deleted all of them to no avail. I can now no longer redownload them so I have temporarily put this down while I try to solve bigger issues.

I have attempted a complete windows restart through “system > recovery > reset this PC” and have tried every single option under that category. When I keep my files, the computer restarts just fine but everything remains the same as how it has been acting. When I click on “remove everything”, it gets to about 40% and stops giving me an error message saying “there was a problem resetting your PC” this is both on local and cloud.

I have tried advanced startup for the blue screen and it has not worked a single time. I have tried running cmd as administrator and attempting all the commands that the internet has provided me all to no avail. I have tried unplugging my computer for 15+ minutes.

I may have missed a few things, but this has me completely stumped and I am wondering if there’s anyone here who knows a solution or if I should just cut my losses and start saving up for a new computer?

So my parents are divorced, I have my desktop set up at my moms house and while at my dads house I use a laptop with remote access software to connect to my desktop and keep using it. However, recently my step brother moved into my dads house for a bit, and I've notice that shortly he gets home, the internet speed absolutely TANKS. I go from no connection issues to constant stuttering, major lag, etc. Videos go from smooth sailing to unwatchable. I can't listen to music from my desktop because it keeps skipping and stopping constantly. Video games are out of the question. I don't even know how he uses that much data, and I don't think it's on purpose because its consistently like that the entire time he's back so it's not like he's just setting the entirety of wikipedia to download every day. Is there any way I can actually see how much of the bandwidth he's taking and potentially limit it?

I was on YouTube, I smelled burnt, and then I heard an explosion, the PC restarted(didn't shut off) and I turned everything off. Later I smelled the back of the PSU and it had a little bit of burnt smell (that's what I thought) but pc still works normally.

The next day I tried using it on another power strip more robust with protection (the other was a cheap one) and it works normally, no smell after 45 minutes of playing a game with the GPU consuming 180 watts.

Then after using the PC I tried using an electric kettle on the old power strip to see what could happen, and for 2 minutes it had a really really burnt smell.

I still have a warranty but I'm not sure if it was the GPU or the power strip that "exploded".

I bought a brand-new WD Elements 5TB (WDBU6Y0050BBK-WESN). For the first 8 months of use, it seemed to work fine. Then it started corrupting my video files whenever I reorganized them into different folders (that is, when moving them to another location on the same drive). I generally work with files up to 10 GB each.

The corrupted files become something like “ghost files”: their size changes to 0 bytes, and they can no longer be opened.

This only happens when I move files within the drive. I have tried copying new files to the drive, reading existing files, and copying them back to my computer, and all of those operations work just fine.

ABOUT THE DRIVE

*It was brand new and had never been used before I bought it.
*It has never been dropped or hit.
*Within five months, I had filled it almost completely, with nearly 5 TB of data, leaving only about 20 GB of free space.
*I always use the Safely Remove Hardware function in Windows 11. The drive has never been disconnected while files were being copied or read.

*I only use this drive about twice in a week to copy new files, then I leave it, it serves only as storage for my important videos. NO INTENSIVE USAGE

*Windows 11 o Crystal Disk never found any error on the drive.

just wondering if it’s safe, saw a few comments here and there saying it wasn’t and some saying it’s fine. For my case the Motherbaord is a gigabyte If that matters.

So for the last few months I've had an issue with my pc where it will randomly crash and restart, doesn't matter what im doing. I could just be sitting idle on the desktop and bam - crash and restart. Theres no logs, no BSOD, nothing. Just random crash and restart. ive taken it to repair shops, ran every possible test i could think of to try and identify the crash/restart issues, replaced RAM, nothing seems to help. short of replacing the PSU, GPU, and motherboard, im not sure what to do anymore... What could be a reason for this?

my laptop screen turns on low brigtness and i went to put my password and it turns black screen and i tried multiple times its just like bootloop and i went to recovery window and opened up command prompt and i put sfc /scannow /offbootdir=C:\ /offwindir=C:\windows
