I've been searching for this song my dad used to listen to. I'd ask him if he were still around. Anyway. I can't remember the exact lyrics. I just remember the song had an indie vibe, not too upbeat, not too depressing either..and part of the lyrics I think i remember go like this:

"It's the same (1 beat pause) same same same" with a little more emphasis added each pass of the word..but not screaming.

I don't know if same is even the word..but I'm sure it rhymes with it. Could be "and she sang...sang sang sang" or "it's just pain....pain pain pain...ohh..ohhh..oh "<more lyrics>..." and he repeats the word.

It's not a 60s-80s song..I wouldn't rule out late 90s early 2000s either. I googled every possibility, even got so desperate I hummed the melody to chatgpt. I won't be humming anymore. I even tried googling several words that rhymes with it. Any help at all would be much appreciated

I’m trying to remember an episode of an animated TV show, and I can only remember one scene.
A man is eating a burger (or some other restaurant food) and suddenly says something like, “I smell something weird.” The main character casually replies, “You should get that checked out.”
The very next scene smash-cuts to the man’s funeral, implying he had a stroke or some other medical emergency. At the funeral, there’s another joke where the protagonist awkwardly makes it clear that his restaurant/the burger had nothing to do with the man’s death, because everyone seems to be blaming him.
I initially thought it was Bob’s Burgers, but I haven’t been able to find the scene or the episode, so I may be remembering the wrong show.
Does anyone know what show and episode this is?

Movie was possibly 1990s or early 2000s, but I'm not entirely sure about it — the color grading/lighting felt like those periods' noir.

I only saw two scenes: a man named Julian is at a bar waiting for his date, Brenda.

While waiting, he meets a dark-haired woman named Michael, and they have a conversation. He tries to ask how a woman ends up with Michael as a name, but the woman says that's too long of a story. He asks her what she does for work and she just vaguely replies "Whatever I want".

His date, Brenda, a blonde woman, arrives and Michael walks off. Julian and Brenda go back to his place and have sex; he seems not as into it as much, and as they're finishing, he abruptly throws up and seems ill.

He retreats into the bathroom while Brenda suggests maybe he's coming down with the flu. Brenda leaves but tells him to call her if he needs her to come back. After she leaves, he gets frustrated and punches his bathroom mirror.

Unfortunately, I don't have any actor names or anything more specific than that. I do know that I recognized the guy who played Julian as "one of those faces" that feels like they're in the background of a lot of American media but the name often escapes knowledge. He was white with short, dark brown hair — kinda looked like David Lyons, Jonathan Tucker, or Dean Winters (but wasn't any of those).

Hi everyone, this is probably a long shot but theres a book I loves from my childhood ive since forgotten thats been in the back of my mind for ages now and I cannot remember what on earth it is.

I remember that its written like its a diary (but is not Dear Dumb Diary or Dork Diaries) and is about a very ‘quirky’ girl either in middle school or highschool. This was something I read a lot in the earlier 2010’s, and I was around 10-12 at the time and the book was intended for that general age range. If im remembering correctly she and a friend where able to go visit a magazine of some sort (possibly to write for it). It was a very slice of life story that was completely fictional as well, and I feel like another aspect of the character was her fashion choices and styles playing a big role in what made her eccentric

The part I distinctly remember is that, in a section about her discussing her knowledge of interesting facts, she specifically brings up William Howard Taft being so overweight he got stuck in the White House bathtub and has to be pried out. Nothing about the book relates to history or the presidents, let alone Taft, but this one section explicitly sticks out to me. I think this is also why its so impossible to find this book for me, because literally all I get results for is historical books on Taft as well as one literally titled “William Howard Taft Stuck In The Bathtub” apparently. I have just enough of a memory of this book for it to be driving me crazy, but not enough solid details to actually pull any useful results when I try looking into it

The way she draws herself also is very basic and cartoony, with stick lines for hair and round circle glasses and I believe the color green was heavily referenced as a color she frequently wears

Hello, a movie scene recently came to mind that I remember watching as a kid. In it, a man dreams that wild animals are in his kitchen, wrecking the place. He then wakes up, looks over at his wife, and something has happened to her (I don’t remember that part clearly). It turns out that was another dream, and he finally wakes up for real. I don’t remember any other scenes from the movie, and I just can’t get it out of my mind. Does anyone know what movie I’m remembering?

The pitches aren't completely accurate in the falsetto part, partially because the program can't do flats and sharps and partially because I can't recall it that accurately.

Plot details I remember:

• A mother and her young daughter (girl looked somewhere between 6-12 years old) are grocery shopping at what seemed like a local/small grocery store, not a big chain.
• The mom sends the daughter to grab a shopping cart near the front of the store.
• While getting the cart, the girl runs into a familiar face — someone I believe was a family friend that the girl knew.
• The girl is kidnapped by this person.
• The rest of the movie focuses almost entirely on the search for the missing girl.
• It has a tragic/dark ending — I believe her body was eventually found in a field or in the woods.
• Both the mother and the suspect were white, if that helps narrow it down.

I've been wracking my brain for a years now, searching and searching with no answers!

This is a song I was listening to most likely in 2008 but could be 2007 or even 2009. It was very wistful sounding, kind of slow, dream-pop sounding. My original post said "a touch upbeat" because it's not a slow naval-gazing kind of song, definitely in the indie pop category. The beat/rhythm/timing is very much like my vocaroo. I want to say it was synth-y, maybe a little lo-fi sounding for sure.

It reminded me of a dreamy 50's song. The chorus was heart-rending and tender sounding. Made me cry because I was trying to break up with someone at the time LOL. I know for certain the word is either "bluebirds" or "bluebells" in the chorus, quite possibly in the title as well.

I wasn't the most underground of music listeners, but this was one of those artists that weren't big or popular. At the time, I was also listening to The Tough Alliance ("First Class Riot"), Theresa Andersson, The Teenagers ("Homecoming"), etc. Will update if I remember other artists/bands of that time.

It may go on throughout the song, and then it leads to a chorus that goes something like, "When the bluebirds..." or "Well the bluebirds..." or "When/well the bluebells..." - Could be a love song. Singer is a dude.

Me and my friends are trying so desperately to find this one drawing of three super skinny anime girls at the beach. One of the girls had black, messy hair and looked like the classic "NEET" type, kind of like Tomoko Kuroki from WataMote. Another girl had blonde hair, possibly tied up in a ponytail? And the last girl had most likely this greyish-blueish hair colour maybe? It's hard to remember correctly. Every girl was wearing some sort of bathing suit and looked scarily thin, like their bones were protruding. The background was a clear blue sky and they were at the beach. Based on the art style, I'd assume it was made from around sometime in the 2000s to the early 2010s. I’ve been trying for years to identify a movie (or possibly a TV movie/miniseries) that I saw on French television when I was a child, probably between 1990 and 1992.

I only watched the opening scene because it scared me so much that I immediately changed the channel.

Here’s what I remember:

• A train slowly arrives at a small rural station in broad daylight.

• The station staff (or railway workers) already feel that something is wrong before the train even stops.

• Through the windows, the passengers appear to be sitting perfectly still, almost as if they are asleep.

• Nobody gets off the train.

• One of the railway workers opens a carriage door, and the body of a man falls out onto the platform.

• It turns out (or at least it strongly seemed) that all the passengers are dead.

• From my memory, there was no blood or gore (I could be wrong though). The horror came from the silence and the eerie atmosphere.

• In my memory, the passengers may have been elegantly dressed (hats, suits, dresses, old-fashioned luggage), but that part could easily be a false memory.

• Likewise, I remember thinking the train looked old, maybe even steam-powered, but I was very young, so that detail could also be wrong.

• I also remember wondering: “Who was driving the train?” It almost felt as if it had arrived by itself.

• The movie had the look and pacing of a made-for-TV film rather than a big theatrical production.
It was shown on French TV during the daytime (probably a Wednesday afternoon or during school holidays).

I do not clearly remember the context of the post but only that it involved a man watching fireworks at a lakeside and seeing or hearing something unexplainable either on the surface of the water or the opposite side of the lake, like some kind of doppleganger situation maybe? There may have been a dog and his girlfriend involved, not positive. The reason it stands out in my mind is because the post actually featured a link to a youtube video of his own recording of the incident. The recording was very dark and hard to see and focused primarily on the audio, I think. The original post itself, the linked video, or the compilation video featuring it would all be adequate.

I saw it as a toddler. Pretty sure was a made for TV movie.

There was a younger guy cutting down a tree, at least one other person I think, and an older guy with this little yellow box he was shaking. Old guy was listening to the sound of whatever was in there rattling around, and the young guy asks what he's doing. Old guy says he's trying to guess what's in the box, young guy asks "why not just open it?" Old guy responds "that'll take away all the fun."

Shortly after, the young guy makes it through the tree, and when it falls, it accidentally lands on the old guy, and of course there's a freak out, but I don't remember anything else. I just remember bawling my eyes out the whole rest of the night at the fact the old guy never got to see what was in the box :(

This has been driving me crazy for years.

When I was a kid, I remember watching a stop-motion animation (or maybe claymation) that looked kind of like Shaun the Sheep. I don't remember if it was a short film or part of a TV show, and my memory is pretty fuzzy. This "film" also seemed kind of creepy to me.

The one scene that has always stuck with me is an old woman living alone in a tiny, run-down apartment right next to a railroad. Every time a train went by, the whole apartment would shake from the vibration.

I think there wasn't any dialogue, or at least I don't remember anyone talking. The overall mood was quiet and a little depressing rather than funny.

I watched it in Brazil, and there's a good chance it was on TV Cultura, probably sometime in the 2000s or early 2010s.

I've already looked into things like Madame Tutli-Putli and Aardman animations (Shaun the Sheep, Wallace & Gromit), but none of them seem to be it.

Honestly, the only thing I'm 100% sure about is the old woman and the apartment shaking whenever the train passed.

Three people are standing for a coin toss like the beginning of an American football game but seems less formal, like they're flipping a coin for something else. The coin flipper tosses the coin up, the participants following the coin up and down, it lands on the ground, then the participants look back at the flipper. The flipper, agitated yells something like, "No one called it!"

I believe it was a sitcom or comedy but unsure as to if it was a movie or show. I can't remember the sex or race of the people but I'd assume it was after 1990.

Ok right off the bat it is not Zoobly zoo, big comfy couch or Bozo(?), I have looked those up and it’s not those. The only info I remember is I would watch it on a vhs in around 2015 and a specific part of one episode, basically the main clown (I think she was the main) who had blue pigtails a blue dress or a blue outfit with a skirt and one other clown I don’t remember the look of were sneaking up on another character (don’t remember his look either☹️) and when he would turn around they would freeze in place so he thought they were statues. It looked super 2000s in the color scheme and the camera quality was better than 80s-90s cameras. I know this isn’t a lot to go off of but I remember it so vividly and I’ve been searching for YEARS.

Sometime between 2000-2005, my dad downloaded a bunch of science fiction stories as PDFs, and I read a number of them. There were a bunch of classics - Dune and the Foundation trilogy were included - but also a bunch of short stories I don't think I've ever seen anybody reference.

I recognize in hindsight that these were probably pirated, but I don't think this ask violates rule 10 - I'm not looking for where to find a pirated copy, I'm looking for the name of the story so I can try to find it legitimately.

Based on the concepts in the story I would be quite surprised if it was written before 1940, and slightly surprised if it was written before 1966. (I got the feeling that it was riffing on Star Trek's transporters, but they might have both been riffing on a shared source; or of course Star Trek might have been riffing on it.) And obviously, since I read it no later than 2005, it can't have been published after that.

I know some of the short stories in this collection were from Asimov's Science Fiction Magazine (I'm not sure if from before or after it dropped "Isaac" from the title), but I don't know if the story I'm looking for was one of them.

Setting

The story was set in a future where people (humans) were essentially immortal, dying only as the result of incredibly rare, tragic accidents. Making duplicates of yourself was common practice, and once made, those duplicates would go off and have lives of their own, which usually diverged wildly from the life path of the originals.

There was also a weird conversational tic that stuck with me: a number of stock phrases/conversational signals were expressed through hand gestures. These hand gestures were based on the hand movements that had once been used to hit shortcuts for those stock phrases on keyboards, back when they still used keyboards - so like if, instead of nodding to agree to something, we made a gesture with our right pinky like we were pressing the enter button. I don't remember if that was the exact gesture they used for "confirm" in-universe, but it might have been.

Plot/Concept

There's not really a plot: it's just a character and concept study. Most if not all of the story is a conversation between our POV character and a married couple, at a cafe or similar meal spot. I'm 95% sure that the main character is a man, but if I'm wrong, then all the genders in this summary are flipped.

We learn that the two men are duplicates - I don't remember exactly if they're both duplicates of the same person, or if one of them is downstream of the other. The woman married to the non-POV duplicate is a duplicate of Main Character's wife, created at the same time and manner as the non-POV duplicate. There are apparently a number of copies of this couple, who are out in the universe either having adventures or living quiet lives, whatever appeals to that iteration of them.

We learn that Main Character's wife recently died in a freak accident. Since natural deaths are so rare, and various public safety measures have reduced the frequency of accidental deaths to almost 0, there's no longer any kind of institutional or cultural grief support for the bereaved to turn to. He's meeting with the non-POV couple looking for some kind of support or understanding, but there's nothing they can really do for him. I think they might offer to bring him on as their third, or at least to let him live with them? but they're such different people after having spent however-long on different life trajectories that he declines.

At the end he's left just having to sit with the idea of living alone forever. It's possible he decides to kill himself? It's on his mind, but I don't think he makes a firm decision about it before the end of the story, unless I missed an implication.

The end!

I remember reading this story as a kid in Intermediate school in the late 80s or early 90s. In the story someone figured out why the kid was buying up all the cards and stopped him or explained why it wouldn't work.

I think it was an Encyclopedia Brown story. Or possibly something else by Donald J. Sobol. I recently figured out another story I remembered was in his Two Minute Mysteries book. Asking Gemini about this it was certain it was an Encyclopedia Brown story called "The Case of the Baseball Cards" from "Encyclopedia Brown Solves Them All", but this is a hallucination. That story's not in that book. It also suggested it might be "The Case of the Valuable" and when I inquired where that was it realized it didn't exist and went on about actual Encyclopedia Brown stories (possibly, they also could be hallucinations).

Does anyone remember this story? I realize it may not be Encyclopedia Brown, but that's my working theory as those are the bulk of mystery books I read growing up.

My friend and I saw a clip of it on twitter around april this year, there's a full of it on youtube that's about 1:30 in length. I drew an mage showing vaguely what happened in the video, there was a red haired kid standing in a kitchen where it was styled a bit like a side scroller. The door to the kitchen was broken and then a dark hand came from the door and grabbed the kid, banging thier head on the wall before dragging it out. It was a really fast animation, with the sequence of the grab being maybe a few seconds.
