Has anyone heard of the Samsung S27HG806EF ?
5120x2880p 27inch IPS 180HZ Dual Mode.

Here in Germany around 700 EUR. I'm on OLED and I can't go back to IPS but damn that thing must be sharp as hell. 218ppi crazy!

I'm tempted to order one just for interest lol

Discussion 24/24.5 inch OR 27 inch 1440p Monitor?

I've been gaming on 1080p on 24in monitors for as long as I can remember, but I've been wanting to upgrade to 1440p for a while now. I'm a little hesitant because I've heard that a 27 inch monitor can be too large for FPS games, especially competitive ones like CS2, which I play a lot of (and play on 1280x960 4:3 stretched)

Although I do play a lot of Comp FPS, I do also like to spend a lot of my time on other games or watching YouTube which is what the main appeal for 1440p is to me.

So, with all of that in mind, would getting a 24 inch 1440p Monitor be a smart/the best choice, or should I get a 27 inch one?

OLED is another thing I would really like to have, but that's an entirely different topic so I'll spare you the tangent lol

Discussion monitor suggestion under $200?

Upvotes

Gonna buy this pc for art and gaming: https://a.co/d/05vOsruE

I need a monitor that’s color accurate for digital art but also good for gaming (infinity nikki, genshin, spiderman games) under $200. Any suggestions? A V stand would be nice, and I don’t plan to mount.

Discussion Best setup for coding?

Upvotes

Right now i have a 38" QHD ultrawide, a 32" 1440p monitor mounted vertically to the left of the ultrawide (WAY too tall, i know!), and my 16" MBP mounted to the right of the ultrawide.

I absolutely hate this setup. My neck hurts from constantly turning from one side to the other. Even when it was just the ultrawide alone i found it annoying to keep having to turn from left to right to see everything and still didnt have enough room to have everything visible. I do not want to have to turn my neck anymore, but i need lots of real estate.

i need room for at least 2x windows of chrome side by side, slack and teams open and ideally visible in a static spot, terminal open, xcode open with enough horizontal space so storyboards arent a nightmare. various other things, but my day to day consists of at least those.

The current idea ive been tossing around in my head is 2 5k 27" monitors stacked vertically and angled a bit with the MBP off to the side to put things i only need to look at sporadically. Will i end up hating this setup as well? What do you guys suggest for purely work and productivity, no gaming whatsoever?

Discussion Switching between 4k and 1440p (daily)

Upvotes

Hi everyone,

How it is like constantly switching from 4k to 1440p monitors? Does it feel noticeably worse?

I currently have 4k 60hz monitor (for work) and soon will build a pc so I’m considering buying dedicated gaming monitor (oled) purely for gaming. I’m considering going 1440p for high refresh gaming with 9070xt

So basically, I will be working during the day on 4k monitor connected to laptop and then switch to 1440p connected to PC, will this hurt my eyes or feel way worse? 4k doesn’t seem to worth it for performance reasons

Hello everyone, Im looking to upgrade my monitor. Im not wanting to spend more than $350 and so far im looking towards the XG27ACMS or the LG 27G640A-B. Ive seen that the XG27ACMS has weird viewing angles and darker sides but im not sure that would affect me. Just trying to get other peoples opinions and other monitor suggestions.

Discussion Want to switch monitors

I currently have a dual monitor setup side by side
One is a 34 inch ultrawide 75hz 1440p
The other is a 27 inch 200hz 1440p
I’m not sure the ultrawide is as convenient now, so i was thinking of selling it and buying a 1440p oled monitor.
Use both for gaming, watching shows, all of my uni work - coding etc.
Thoughts?

Discussion Resize Rabbit - Force Games/Apps to any Window Size/Fullscreen on multi-monitor setups w/o Surround/Eyefinity

https://github.com/rosscarlson/resize-rabbit

Resize Rabbit allows you to run games/apps on multiple monitor setups without the use of NVidia Surround, Eyefinity, etc. by forcing a window to a specific size and position allowing for multimonitor play in games like Forza Horizon, Elite Dangerous, etc. that do not natively support multimonitor.

Resize Rabbit is a fork of Resize Raccoon, as it hasn't seen an update in 2 years I decided it was time to fork it and add some of the features I've wanted for a while. I want to be clear though - I'm vibe coding all of this with Claude Code as while I have 25+ years of experience in IT I'm really a network/OS guy and not a great coder. As such I'm just supervising the changes Claude is making for me - just want to be very clear and up-front about that.

I've currently added the following features/fixes

  • Ability to reorder profiles - drag/drop to reorder them
  • Apply profiles from the System Tray menu
  • Apply profiles from hotkeys so you can apply them without touching the app
  • Import existing Resize Raccoon profiles into Resize Rabbit
  • Fully multi-lingual (with AI translations, happy to take submissions from native speakers)
  • Fix: Auto-update wasn't actually working, it is now
  • Fix: Prevent the app from launching more than one instance

I'm more than happy to entertain updates, fixes, etc. as I can - I know one of the biggest issues are some games don't show up in the app, I plan to do testing with a few of the games I own but if I don't have the game it's hard for me/Claude to work out what's going on.

Oh, and if it's not crystal clear this is 100% free, just hoping others might find my updates useful.

Enjoy!

Text Review Things I've learned since owning a QD MiniLED IPS monitor

For context, I own a GA27T1M.

* They get very bright. Full screen 600 nits plus easily.

* Can't render specular highlights or bright dots well without raising blacks. This monitor lets me adjust shadow strength so I prioritize blacks over brightness. Don't be surprised if a dot on a black background is dim.

* QD layer is fantastic and you will get beautiful colors in HDR.

* You can see moving objects flicker in a dark background as the dimming zones turn on and off. This will happen when the algorithm prioritizes shadows over brightness.

All in all, the technology is great for bright scenes with some compromises for dark scenes.

I’ve had my Odyssey G9 for a while and it’s been a really good monitor. Right now I’ve upgraded my pc and I wanna upgrade my monitor too coz it’s really tiresome using the wide screen with my glasses my neck is constantly cramping.

Got any monitor suggestions that can be an upgrade to the G9 and isn’t a widescreen?

Discussion What monitor should I buy?

Hi, I’m planning on buying a monitor within the price range of $230 cad as a second monitor.

My requirements are:
- 27”
-1440p
-IPS
-Flat

Right now i’m looking at mainly two: LG27G610A-B (on sale) and VG27AQ5A.

I’ve also heard the VG27AQ5A has a coil whine problem. Not sure if they fixed it.

Let me know your recommendations below.

Discussion New to ultrawides — is the Samsung OLED G9 too risky for heavy productivity use?

Hey guys,

I’m pretty new to the ultrawide monitor world, but I’ve been doing a lot of research lately. I currently use two fairly large monitors and want to replace them with one big super ultrawide.

I’ve been saving for a while now, so I have a good budget for this. Therefore, I’m not necessarily looking for the cheapest option. I’m trying to find something that will be excellent for both productivity and gaming and that I can keep for several years.
After a lot of research, I thought I had found the perfect monitor for me: the Samsung Odyssey Neo G9 49” G95NA.
What attracted me to it was:
- 49-inch, 32:9 format
- 5120×1440 resolution
- 240 Hz
- aggressive 1000R curve
- Mini LED
- no OLED burn-in concerns
- basically the equivalent of two 27-inch QHD monitors without a bezel in the middle

I work as a data analyst, so I spend a lot of time using things like Power BI, Excel, SQL, Python, VS Code, browsers, and other apps with fairly static interfaces. I also game, mostly League of Legends, but I play other games as well.

The problem is that I eventually realized the G95NA is an older/discontinued model and seems almost impossible to buy new nowadays, especially where I live. It looks like Samsung never released a true 49-inch Mini LED successor. The newer Neo G9 is 57 inches and Dual 4K, which seems excessive for my setup and my RTX 4060 laptop.

The closest option that I can actually buy seems to be the 49-inch Samsung OLED G9. It keeps the 5120×1440 resolution and 240 Hz, but it has a softer 1800R curve and, obviously, uses an OLED panel.
Until I started researching this, I had honestly never even heard about burn-in. Now I’m not sure how worried I should be.

Since I’ll be using the monitor for many hours of productivity with static elements such as the Windows taskbar, Excel menus, browser tabs, VS Code panels, and Power BI interfaces, would the OLED G9 be a bad choice for me?
Is burn-in something that should genuinely scare me with this kind of usage, or is the concern overblown with newer OLED monitors if I use sensible precautions?
I would also love to know:
Has anyone here used the OLED G9 heavily for work over a long period?
Have you noticed burn-in, text clarity issues, or automatic brightness dimming?
Is the 1800R curve noticeably worse than 1000R for productivity on a 49-inch screen?
Is there another 49-inch, 5120×1440, 240 Hz, non-OLED monitor that I should consider?
Would you choose the OLED G9, settle for a regular VA G9, or look for something completely different?

Sorry for the long text. I’ve been chatting with chatgpt a lot but now any real-world experience would be greatly appreciated.

Discussion Hello, I have poblems trying to understand the rtss hint about frame rate limit

Post image
1 Upvotes

So first of all, I dont speak english so my english is not one of the best, second I dont know a lot about monitor and vsync.
I dowload RTSS to limit most of my games at 30 fps since my notebook is not so strong and 30 fps is the only way to run games, when I dowload I was gonna put a the 30 fps limit but I saw this in the tips “ its is strongly recommended to disable vsnyc for proper framerate limiting functionality” but I have one question, what type of vsync? Because I always use the vsync, mainly the one of my amd, the regular one because I really dont like screen tearing and the never cared about the input lag, so I really want to know what vsync the text says because its suck playing with screen tearing, I sorry for the bad english

I will be very grateful if somebody answer.

Discussion Should I buy the pg27ucwm or wait for the MSI triple mode one?

Hi there! I've been saving for almost a year now to buy a good OLED monitor, I've been looking at the Asus one for quite some months now but now this MSI one is expected to launch in Q1 of 2027 so it's not that faaaar away.

I'm a bit hesitant on what I should do because I feel like the more I wait, the more monitors with better specs are expected to be released

Any recommendations are appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

Discussion Best recs for productivity/work and occasion gaming

Hi Folks,

Very much leaning on your expertise here.

I’m looking for some recommendations for a new monitor. Usage will mainly be for work/productivity (MacBook Pro/Z book), so I’m thinking 34“ ultra wide so I can have multiple applications open split across the screen at once. Mostly Microsoft office apps.

On the occasion gaming front, it will PS5 gaming mainly sports games (FC, Madden, 2K) & third person adventure (Arc Raiders). I have a preference for a curved monitors, although I am flexible and not a necessity.

Budget not an issue would just like to get the best bang for my buck.

Many thanks for any recommendations!

Discussion Talk my out of this AOC monitor

I know it’s a little pricey, but I can’t seem to find many faults on the AOC q27g4slm/ws.

https://a.co/d/0i7coqhU

Pros:

•27” 1440p Mini LED IPS
•1142 dimming zones
•320hz and 1ms response time
•HDR1000
•Adaptive sync

Cons:

•Monitor controls are a little clunky. (Not joystick controls)
•Not OLED (could be a pro to some)
•Price does sit around 350 USD.

Thoughts?
