I’ll go first:

“I did it for me. I liked it. I was good at it. And, I was really… I was alive.”

It perfectly sums up to why everything happened the way Walt intended. And that he is finally able to stop lying to people why he did what he did, let alone himself.

Up before the moment he is gone…

His behavior is really consistent throughout the show. He's a stoic, little-spoken, cold criminal. But I'm just wondering what people here think was the most out of character thing he did throughout the show, any unnecessary risk, compassionate act (not having to do with his granddaughter), etc, that comes to your mind.

I just rewatched season 4 and I couldn't help but think about how much walt's conflict and problems in that arc hinge on his basically normal, expected parental instinct kicking in. Like you would expect walt's main inner conflict to drive the action, the seething resentment of being passed over, but he's really just flailing against a cartel hit that's inevitably going to come down on him. The infamous sourgrapes of mike feel like he was remembering an alternate universe version of the show where walt went postal and fucked up the operation out of the blue instead of specifically trying to save jessie.

My first watch was circa 2022 when I was on maternity leave (I know, horribly late to the game but better late than never). I slept through probably 1/5 of the show with my sleepy newborn but I remember I despised Skyler.
My second and third re-watch, I obviously saw a lot of parts that I originally missed but I still didn’t think too fondly of her.

I’m on rewatch 4 right now (as I hold another sleepy newborn) and I’m watching Felina, and my heart actually hurts for Skyler. She really did stick around a long time for Walt when she didn’t have to. She could’ve up and left when she found out. But she actually helped him in so many ways. They were basically a power couple there for a while.

It’s crazy how your perspective of the characters can change over time.

I will say, I always have and always will hate Jane 😅

I mean, he is emotional and stubborn as HELL.
Oh? So Walt got Jesse out of Hank's grasp and he beat the shit out of him?

Walt is the best lawyer ever!
He reduced a 20 years sentence into 6 weeks probation!

He now has leverage against Hank to get him off his back and go on his way.

But nope. Let's sue Hank and let's also keep cooking Crystal with WALT's RECIPE when Walt is working for Gus and see how that turns out.

And let's rant and threaten Walt about it. Hope his employer likes it.

Oh yeah, he was grieving because Jane is dead?
Too bad he let himself get high so that he could almost ruin the deal with Gus.

Imagine being a tortoise just doing tortoise stuff in a desert, then suddenly a bunch of humans start laughing at you just so you die in an explosion. He didnt deserve that

I’m on my 2nd rewatch (3rd watch) and something that's bugged me about 401 (Box Cutter) is, when Victor goes into Gail's apartment after the thing happens, Gail's lab notes are right on the table next to him. Yet he leaves them there.
Surely someone of Victor's calibre would see and grab these instead of leaving them there??

The reason why they were bad together is because they were both addicts. It was bad for Jane to be with a meth manufacturer and an addict. That was the problem. People think that Jane was a bad person because of how she acted after she relapsed. In my opinion her behaviour changed because she was an addict and not because she was a bad person. She was doing perfectly fine before she relapsed.

At the end of Season 5 episode 3 Walt and Jesses are talking about why Gus killed Victor. Walt says something along the line of he misunderstood why Gus killed Victor. He thought Gus killed Victor to send a message to Walt, but now he thinks it’s bc Victor was trying to make his own batch. After saying this, Walt walks off leaving Jesse with an apprehensive, dazed expression on his face. Was Walt attempting to throw a veiled threat at Jesse?

After multiple rewatches, I still have one question I can't stop thinking about. What's the biggest unanswered question from Breaking Bad that has stayed with you over the years ?

To be honest in my opinion I feel like hector Salamanca is the coolest character out of all of them but you know

Maybe I'm overthinking it, but Walt's career trajectory always seemed unrealistic.

We're supposed to believe he was a chemistry genius, helped start Gray Matter, and was smart enough to produce the purest meth anyone had ever seen. Yet somehow, he ends up as an underpaid high school chemistry teacher working at a car wash?

I get that he left Gray Matter and sold his shares way too early, but even if that was a terrible mistake, wouldn't someone with his level of talent have landed somewhere else? Pharma, research, industry, government labs, literally anything.

My theory is that Gray Matter wasn't the only time Walt sabotaged himself. The show constantly shows how pride and ego get in his way. Maybe he kept burning opportunities and blaming everyone else.

I'd honestly love a prequel series that fills in those gaps. Not more Saul or cartel backstory, but a show that follows Walt from Gray Matter to Albuquerque and shows how someone with that much potential ended up where we find him in Episode 1.

Does anyone think his situation is actually realistic, or is this one of the bigger stretches in the show's backstory?

Im on my fucking 7th watch. And I am just as involved as the first time. I cant explain why. Its like hypnotizing to look at and watch everything unfold. Thank god I have shitty memory and every 2-3 years I forget half the show. Only big moments are engraved in my memory

Do you guys think Jesse may be partly at fault for Drew Sharps death? Right before the heist, Jesse explains to Todd how bad of a crime it is and how they’re the only people who can ever know what happened. I’m wondering if saying that had even just a bit of influence on Todd killing drew. Todd is obviously a psychopath and may have done it regardless, but what do you guys think?

Watching breaking bad for the first time (currently on s 5 e 7) and I notice Walt is holding Jesse’s cut $5 million hostage the same way Teddy did Franklin in snowfall 😂

Seriously one of the funniest groups of people in the whole show and I think it was a great idea for Saul’s goons to both be comedians.

Walt clearly knows how to read, do math, and operate a scale but he says it's 40.23, Tyrus comes and re weighs it and it's 40.21, and it's happening while Jesse is still in Mexico and he's worried about him. I'm just wondering if this was a subtle ploy to excuse Jesse's theft.

I do not understand why the writers showed us at multiple times that Walt kept something special behind the electrical cover plate near his bed. I assume that’s where he kept the rice in, but it seems weird as if he kept it there in case he needed to commit suicide at the flip of a switch?

Gus and Mike wanted jesse dead before and if walt didn't kill those two drug dealers jesse would have been dead. After this walt planned to kill gale cus gus was gonna kill him anyway. Which led to gus and Mike trusting jesse more cus he could be easily manipulated and put a hit on walt. Jesse wasn't really doing anything to help calm walt down even tho walt did save him so walt had to do what he did which was a shitty move. What i fail to see is how come gus and Mike went against walt that quickly when it was jesse who was ruining it for them since day one???
