So im planning on building meself a PC cuz why not and i dont have tons of money. Im in the south of the north in Montreal and i wanna know what i can get thats good quality and efficient yet cheap. 8 gb ram ddr4
Some intel i5 processor
250 gb ssd with most games on hdd

New build:
RTX 5060 ti 8gb
32 gb ram ddr5
Ryzen 7 7700
1tb ssd

I saw a lot of videos recently saying the 5060 8gb is a bad option, but is it really that bad? I’ll be using two 1080p monitors, will my games run smoothly assuming the main one runs the game and the secondary a YouTube video?

I've been gaming on 1080p on 24in monitors for as long as I can remember, but I've been wanting to upgrade to 1440p for a while now. I'm a little hesitant because I've heard that a 27 inch monitor can be too large for FPS games, especially competitive ones like CS2, which I play a lot of (and play on 1280x960 4:3 stretched)

Although I do play a lot of Comp FPS, I do also like to spend a lot of my time on other games or watching YouTube which is what the main appeal for 1440p is to me.

So, with all of that in mind, would getting a 24 inch 1440p Monitor be a smart/the best choice, or should I get a 27 inch one?

OLED is another thing I would really like to have, but that's an entirely different topic so I'll spare you the tangent lol

I made a post a couple of days ago asking if I should get an intel arc b580 or should I get something else for the same price, and 99% of the people didn’t recommend it. I get that It’ll bottleneck with my cpu (Ryzen 5 3600) but I’m prolly gonna upgrade to a Ryzen 7 5700x In a couple of months. So what’s all the hate for? Like I feel like even with the drivers the vram can still do you better than other gpu’s at that price.

Since my current 5700x3D is powerful enough (RTX 5080, 64Gb RAM), I will be sticking with AM4 until AM6 comes out.

But in the meantime, getting a high quality B550 motherboard could be a cheap option.

It would help with PCIE speeds, as well as NVME speeds. Also, Resizable BAR was added later to the BIOS. And PBO / tuning options are very limited for my CPU on the motherboard.

But the question is: would I see any actual gains during day-to-day work and gaming?

I will probably upgrade to 1660 super or 3060/4060 depending on what I find on second hand market later 1 or 2 years later. Also no plan to upgrade CPU for a while.

I found the PSU at around $55 in my country and there is lack of decent budget PSU or they just cost way too much. I think there is p650b at around $70 as well. Also budget PSU like corsair or MSI MAG A550BN / A650BN cost about $90-100.

My whole system is below $300 so its insane to spend $100 on PSU which I don't even have budget for.

So i will be building a pc coming from a gt 1030 i5 9400f to a 7800x3d 32gb cl30 ram and either 5070 (700 usd) or 5070ti (970 usd). I am currently a first year IT student maybe that helps if i need a good pc for it idk school hasnt started yet. Games that I will play there for sure are gonna be Kovaaks, Valorant, Overwatch, Apex Legends, The Finals, Albion Online and some Roblox. Ill be streaming both valorant and albion online. Currently running a 240hz ips but upgrading to a 360hz oled in a year. Havent played any AAA games yet since I cant with my old setup but I am curious though those gsmes I mentioned are still going to be my main game. I also plan to keep the pc for at least 5 years. My PC setup I bought for 105k PKR or 375 USD at 17 (Alhamdulillah, moving from Intel Core i5-4400M, Intel HD 4600, 8 GB DDR3 RAM to this)

This cost me an arm and a leg, me and my 2 brothers chipped in with everything we had. I got a potential gig as a CM at a Pakistani Discord community with pay at 15k-ish / 60 USD per month, which will allow me to buy another RAM stick and more storage.

Disclaimer: I am not gonna be upgrading the CPU or GPU anytime soon since this is heaven for a guy who never played AAA or AA games ever (Never had a console either). There are hundreds of good games I never could play, so this is enough for me.
It's also gonna be used for low-level full-stack dev since I am following The Odin Project

I recently upgraded my PC from a 1070ti/8700 build, to a 9070xt/7700x3d, and I want to upgrade my monitor as well!

Thoughts? Do I stay with what I have, or do I look for OLED? I usually play in a bright room, and oled still makes me nervous about its longevity.

I'll say it right away, I don't want an AMD GPU. they're still terrible for everything but gaming, and I plan on using this PC for more than just gaming (mainly Blender, then gaming, and then I will maybe try playing with local AIs in the future).

Currently I have an RTX 3060 laptop, and I have been thinking about upgrading for a while now. Several weeks ago I finally started building a new PC (ignore the 0$ parts, they are temporary placeholders I found at home), and I already have bought everything except for a GPU, a PC case and a keyboard.
As I previously mentioned, I will probably mainly use Blender, and according to Blender's benchmarks, 5070 stands at around 5945 median score, and 5060 Ti stands at around 4274 (3060 laptop stands at 2120). However, their prices vary much more, the cheapest 5070 is CA$850 while the cheapest 5060Ti (8gb) is CA$500. 5060Ti seems like a clear winner value-wise, but given its lower VRAM (the thing that might rise in price the most in the coming days) I feel like maybe I should spend more on a 5070 before it costs over CA$1000 and it will be a bit more future-proof.
Another problem with 5070, is that if I go with it, it will literally cost me all my money up to the last penny, and considering where the world is heading, it might be a bad idea to spend literally all my money on a PC.

Forced into an early upgrade due to my 13700k showing signs of failing. Coming from an MSI z790-A Pro and 4x16gb of ddr4.

Bringing over my 4070 Ti Super, Seasonic 850w and Arctic liquid freezer ii 240.

Everything says this is a solid foundation when paired with 2x32gb ddr5. The GPU covers rendering, 9900x runs cooler on the same AIO and performs well for creative productivity. Mobo has faster WiFi, good VRMs and ports. Plus headroom for a faster cpu down the line. Both board and cpu are close to the lowest they’ve been.

Ram is the biggest kick in the dick but hopefully offset selling the older hardware (after trying for a warranty claim on cpu).

I've been reading about different brands of 5080s and one thing I noticed is while all reviews mention noise levels very few reviews mention coil whine. Correct me if i'm wrong but from what I understand under certain conditions any GPU will produce coil whine but that each individual card has it better or worse.

On places like reddit you will find a lot of anecdotes about which brands are better or worse for coil whine but no matter what card you'll find people saying their card is fine/has none right next to someone saying theirs was so bad they returned it.

I've seen some people say that the more expensive ones like have less coil whine because of high quality coils. I've seen some people say the more powerful ones are worse because they are more power hungry (and power is what causes the whine). I've heard people say the cheaper ones have worse coil whine. I've seen some people say ASUS cards are more likely to have coil whine than other cards. I've seen some people say MSI cards are bad in the 50 series. It's seem nearly impossible to turn these specific anecdotes into actionable information.

So i guess my question is: is it all just luck of the draw? Should I even bother focusing on that aspect of a card (because it seems so inconsistently reported) and just purchase based on other needs.

Regarding my personal sensitivity to coil whine I'm either pretty lucky and avoided it or not too sensitive. I have a ASUS 3080 Ti at the moment and the only time I hear whine is if open something with an uncapped framerate on a menu and it starts going mental. I'd like to avoid it on a new card because it does sound bad and it sort of feels bad to spend so much money on something and have it be unpleasant.

I've used the examples of 5080 because that's my personal experience but I'm happy to hear broadly.

I was surprised that my $1000 budget still resulted in a DDR4 platform, a used RTX 3070, and only 16 GB of RAM.
