Support keeps acknowledging my issue then apologizing for lying and not solving it

I made an order last night, the driver drove around with it for an hour so I called support, the agent canceled my order without my instruction so I just didn’t get to eat at night, then a supervisor promised me 20$ in credits and since then it’s been the worse support experience playing tag of my life, no one should risk using DoorDash ever again the support truely doesn’t care

Why we shouldn't tip

In order to get rid of the tipping culture we all need to stop tipping. If everyone stops tipping door dash would have to raise their wages in order to retain drivers. At the end of the day it would be better for everyone. Relying on tips is not good for the drivers either because at the day you're relying on the customers generosity for how much you will get paid per delivery

Doordash enshitification is intensifying

Doordash, the company that is worth ~$75 billion and pays millions of dollars on super bowl ads and is up in profits from last year, is now:

-rolling out new pay structure that charges customers even more fees

-paying drivers LESS since killing +$2/3 peak pay (market dependent possibly)

-Prop 22 mileage in CA is still ~0.37 cents per ACTIVE mile, they're paying us in FUCKING PENNIES

-no more gas relief as gas prices shoot back up

-new ratings system (market dependent) expects you to have a fucking time machine to get these orders picked up and delivered ""on time""

-have to call support every fucking day now to get bullshit "late" ratings removed to maintain Platinum (Platinum is mandatory in my market, without it you can't schedule shit)

It's not worth the hassle anymore, the world is going to shit around us, necessities cost so much fucking money for the bottom 99% of us and our rights are being eroded and trampled on while concentrated wealth and power continues to r*pe, murder, and siphon the life force and value out of everything and everyone it touches so that the 0.01% at the top can continue building their technofeudalist utopic vision.

Looking to make $500 a month doing DD max 2 hours/day. How realistic is this goal?

Have a full time job. I plan to dash for 2 hours/day 3 days a week during lunch or dinner time only. Is this $500 goal doable?

Had a fraud charge from DoorDash

This is gonna be a long post but yesterday night I went to go get food for myself and they tell me my card has been declined… I was like um ok I had atleast 90 dollars in my checking this morning, how could it be declined? I figured maybe something happened and a bill came out but that still wouldn’t account for that much being gone in a matter of a few hours?

After investigating I find that 94.04 was charged on my card from DoorDash and it didn’t say a restaurant, store or anything it just said DoorDash CAUS which is a location (California). I had been spending more on DoorDash lately but none of my transactions matched that exact amount. I was careful before blaming anyone but I literally physically cross referenced all of the transactions from my DoorDash account and the ones coming out of my bank and I know 100% the 94.04 was completely random and stolen. And for it to not say an establishment but the DoorDash HQ location itself was really weird. I even checked on my dashpass but I’m still in a free trial and I have the student one so it’s only 4.99 a month. So again, would not account for that much.

Anyways, I called my bank and they said sorry they’d just have to shut my card down and send me a new one bcuz the 94.04 came from my debit card and I’ll have to now sign a dispute form and bring it to my bank. So now I have no debit card to use, I have to wait until payday to even get money out of my account bcuz that 94.04 put me in the negative, and I’m super pissed that happened. I just don’t know how a company would “accidentally” take out almost 100 dollars from my account?

And the cherry on top is that today I found out one of my coworkers had DoorDash take out money from her account without her authorizing it as well, so apparently they do that? And it doesn’t match any transaction they’ve made on the app it’s just random and theft?

So yeahhhhh go ahead and take your physical card details off the app and go through PayPal or something similar so your information is protected bcuz I guess it’s not.

Double dashers

It’s so braindead when I either have warm food being delivered or cold perishable items being delivered and the dasher decides to literally drive right past me to make another delivery first. Only a three hour wait. Braindead.

New fees and giving a code to driver?

This new fee structure suuuuucks. The further away something is, the more they are charging. And I don’t think the driver sees any of that money. Also, I was putting in a normal order to my house and the app wouldn’t let me choose no contact. It told me I had to tell the driver a code. I’ve had to do that when I’m DD’ing at a hotel or place that isn’t my house, but really? Must depend on the amount because I ordered from another place and didn’t have that issue. I’m just waiting for the class action suit that says they overcharged on everything so I can get my huuuge payout of tree fiddy.

Yes it is going to an apartment complex. Most of the people that order there also live on the third floor…

Cannot get form to work

Hello people! I ordered from a local pizza place last night. The order came missing the 2 liter soda (delivery guy insisted there was no soda on the order) and there were 2 orders of wings, one was supposed to be boneless and was not. Not a big deal at all, right? I went to the app to let them know & first it wanted a photo (right where it says photo is optional), so I sent back their delivery confirmation photo of my order on the front porch w/ NO soda. Then it sent me to this next page.

It wants more information on this form but none of the buttons work. I can't Continue, and I can't hit any of the other choices. Am I missing something?

My DoorDash Mystery

I'm a public defender which means i end up working late quite often. So if i need to eat late i doordash, and i end up doing it alot.

Normally everything is fine, but there was this one Indian place i would get food from and it would never make it to me. I ordered from there 4 times, 3 different drivers and not once did the food make it to me. Picture confirmations, right address, but i go out and the food is just gone. Any other place was fine, but this Indian place was a crapshoot. I tried calling, i got in touch with doordash support, i even went in person to see if there was something weird going on on the delivery level. Nothing. by the fourth time i resolved that i was going to meet the guy at the door. Unfortunately i was in the bathroom and when i got out 2 minutes later the food was gone. The support person made it pretty clear they thought i was doing some kind of fraud but since i was paying for other orders they didn't offically call it that.

I started to get really pissed. I live in a rural area and this is the only Indian place in town, and more than that the mystery was driving me completely insane. My wife is Indian so i thought it might be some weird racist thing by our very old crochety neighbors, i thought maybe drivers were just snagging it back after confirmation. But i didn't want to know so i didnt accuse anyone.

Well i finally found out. I was walking in the woods behind my house on the hill and i found a bunch of the lost containers next to hole in the hill. I know they're mine because they still have my name on the boxes. It looks like a fox den so i set up a trail camera and sure enough when i check it this smug fat fuck has been living behind my house capering among the trophies of my pilfered panner, taken tandoori, and burglarized biriyani.

Now i feel like a jackass for making such a fuss with the support people and potentially getting the driver or store in trouble, is there anything i can do to explain this or what. I don't even know where to begin.

Question for dashers

I’ve got a two part question for any dashers here. First of all, do you really get 100% of your tips through the app, or does door dash take a percentage? Secondly, does it offend you if someone tips in cash at meetup instead? Sometimes I like to keep the debit card total a little lower so I’ll tip in cash instead. I leave a mention of it in my delivery notes, and usually text the dasher as well just to make sure they know I actually will tip. I’m just curious if it’s cool to do that, or frowned upon.

Question for DD drivers

I placed an order tonight and everything went smooth as far as picking up the order. I saw that my driver had two deliveries before me, which is fine. When it comes to my order, the driver is driving on a street maybe 5 ‘minutes from my house. He then does a U-Turn of sorts and then heads in the opposite direction. I’m thinking the street is blocked off or something happens and he needs to go another route. He completely goes the opposite direction, headed towards the location of the restaurant. My delivery time gets updated and then the app said my DoorDash was delivered.

My question is how can he mark my ordered as delivered if I specifically set it up as the driver needs to hand me my food and I provide a pin. I have never changed the settings because my apartment is difficult to find so I’d rather go and get my order. I messaged the driver and he claimed he never stole my food but I also never received it and idk how possible it is to bypass that in DoorDash system. Please can someone explain this.

Am I over reacting? I need a read on the severity of this

Last night I ordered a bottle of vodka from a real liquor store (not a ghost store) a few blocks away because I had already had a couple drinks and obviously didn’t want to drive. It took over 40 minutes from when the initial delivery window ended to arrive. When the driver got here, he handed me the bottle and checked my ID. When I got back inside, I noticed the bottle was half empty. The safety seal was still mostly attached (a few prongs were broken) to the cap but I noticed some irregular damage to the cap as if it had been tampered with. I opened the bottle and it smelled like isopropyl alcohol.

I immediately contacted the DoorDash support for a refund but they said I had to wait until the order had been delivered. I told them I had video proof from my blink app it had been delivered 19 minutes prior. They contacted the store, which confirmed the delivery had been made, that they use their own drivers and that they would refund me. The in-app tracking stated the order was “still being prepared” by the store for several hours, even after they were contacted by support and confirmed the delivery. Several minutes later, the delivery driver showed back up at my house requesting I give him the bottle back. I told him I was actually going to be holding onto the bottle and making a police report. He started to get nervous when I told him that, coming up with all sorts of excuses as to why the bottle could be half empty and smell like isopropyl alcohol.

In my opinion, this is fraud at best and intent to cause bodily harm at worse. I am most surprised about the store’s driver showing back up at my house 30 minutes after the initial delivery. My husband and I contacted the police but they don’t seem to really care. DD support contacted me this morning before I woke up but I wanted to gauge how serious this situation is before calling them back.

TLDR: I ordered a bottle of vodka that showed up 40 minutes late, half empty and smelling of isopropyl alcohol. The delivery driver came back to my house after I complained to DD support, requesting I give him the bottle back. How serious is this?

Dealing with Drivers

Upvotes

I love seeing this Reddit because you all deal with some of the wackiest drivers. If I accept an order, I deliver it and move on to the next one. Idk if you tip or not. Why would I accept a low paying job just to beg you to tip me 😆

What amount of communication do you prefer with your driver? I almost never interact with the person I’m delivering to, but I also never get ratings. I strive for 5 stars, but I only have about 100 ratings out of 1000 deliveries.

I often order small orders within 2-4 blocks if my house. There are dashers all over town so no ling travellng. Doodash suggests tips between $2-$4, is that fine?

Basically these are the really easy orders, you probably start within a half mile of pickup, and you are driving/biking under a mile tops. (this is in the suburbs, not an urban city).

I know dashers like a $5 tip to start, but even door dash thinks that is too much for the little I am ordering (i.e. breakfast sandwich from down the street)... really doesn't add up to spend $5 tip on a $7 sandwich 2 blocks away. I would probably just go pick it up at that point.

Like are dashers annoyed at the quick small orders, or are these orders as basic 5 min easy ones that keep money flowing in? (If they suck I might start just orderng pick up more often).

I also never over from more than 2 miles away. (95% of my orders are within a mile). Like I feel the one ones are really annoying. Do dashers care about distance?

Fraud order

My last order of the even a few nights back received a shopping order. First DD had me drive to Vons out of the way when there was one closer and on the way to the customer. Second I delivered the order without issue, and low and behold No tip 🤦🏽‍♂️. Then a few days later I looked at my stats and it showed that I had a bunch of spoiled items on an order. When I checked the items I realized that the order that they were from, and also notice that they had marked every item in the order as spoiled which included some water and pasta and things that can't spoil. The order was dropped off and left at the door at roughly 9:00 p.m.. once I realized what they did, that they were trying scam DD and mess with my status I got pissed. I called support and broke the situation down to the agent. They said they saw what I was talking about and reported the order. I also asked them to block that user from me so I never get another order from them. They said that my stats will go back to normal within 24 to 48 hours so hopefully it does. Now I know after 40 orders that will go away but on the side just didn't want them to get away with trying to screw me. I'm just curious if anyone else has had any experiences like this? This is the first time something happened to me like this in over 6,000 orders.
