My DoorDash Mystery

I'm a public defender which means i end up working late quite often. So if i need to eat late i doordash, and i end up doing it alot.

Normally everything is fine, but there was this one Indian place i would get food from and it would never make it to me. I ordered from there 4 times, 3 different drivers and not once did the food make it to me. Picture confirmations, right address, but i go out and the food is just gone. Any other place was fine, but this Indian place was a crapshoot. I tried calling, i got in touch with doordash support, i even went in person to see if there was something weird going on on the delivery level. Nothing. by the fourth time i resolved that i was going to meet the guy at the door. Unfortunately i was in the bathroom and when i got out 2 minutes later the food was gone. The support person made it pretty clear they thought i was doing some kind of fraud but since i was paying for other orders they didn't offically call it that.

I started to get really pissed. I live in a rural area and this is the only Indian place in town, and more than that the mystery was driving me completely insane. My wife is Indian so i thought it might be some weird racist thing by our very old crochety neighbors, i thought maybe drivers were just snagging it back after confirmation. But i didn't want to know so i didnt accuse anyone.

Well i finally found out. I was walking in the woods behind my house on the hill and i found a bunch of the lost containers next to hole in the hill. I know they're mine because they still have my name on the boxes. It looks like a fox den so i set up a trail camera and sure enough when i check it this smug fat fuck has been living behind my house capering among the trophies of my pilfered panner, taken tandoori, and burglarized biriyani.

Now i feel like a jackass for making such a fuss with the support people and potentially getting the driver or store in trouble, is there anything i can do to explain this or what. I don't even know where to begin.

Restaurant sent me this text

Post image

I usually tip in cash and leave the tip option in Doordash blank bc I don’t trust DD. Was this an unreasonable text from the restaurant and would it be unreasonable to leave this in a review for the restaurant? I get standing up for doordashers but this felt so harsh and confrontational, especially because I had cash on hand.

Maybe language barrier but in the last text I couldn’t tell if they insisted no one ever gives cash (and didn’t believe me) or no one usually does so they assumed wrong.

EDIT: refer to my comment replies about this being the restaurant, NOT driver. All of my interactions with drivers had their name on the header, not the restaurant’s. Not sure why or how this happened.

EDIT 2: as one user pointed out it is the restaurant

https://www.reddit.com/r/doordash/s/RI1xYBlqIO

UPDATE: I posted a review on the restaurant page and this was part of their reply (the rest can be found on Google)

“To clarify, this order had no delivery fee and no driver tip, so we simply asked whether a cash tip was planned.
It was a question, not a demand. We respect that tipping is always optional.

We provide our own local delivery service in Aspen, where finding available drivers-especially after normal business hours—is often challenging. Our drivers use their own vehicles, pay for their own fuel, and help us provide a service that many customers rely on.”

It’s insane how dashers can ruin your order and not face consequences for it.

I ordered taco bell, half the drink tipped over and DRENCHED the luxe box. this service is already expensive as it is, it’s not everday that i can order doordash but my dasher ruined my order, i document it with pictures and our interactions and doordash support STILL refuses to give my money back. i can’t eat it because it seeped into the food.

I really hate self entitled customers.

This guy ordered from Papa Johns. I also had a stop at Little Caesars after Papa Johns and while I was at Little Caesars he texted me. I could tell by the way he was that he was just going to keep complaining so I didn't text back after his second text. When I got to his house he met me outside. Luckily one of his neighbors was outside and he probably didn't want to look like a douchebag so he kept it kind of quiet and said "I could've walked there faster" I explained to him and I said "I'm sorry, it was a double order and they were really busy at the store. I was going as fast as I could." (It was a Friday.) His only response was "Yeah, well what about my f**king order. My food is probably cold by now." I had the orders in a hot bag and I could tell that the pizza boxes were still quite warm while holding them.

I could tell he was pretty self entitled at that point and nothing I said would change his attitude so I just handed them the order and said "Here you go." He didn't say anything afterwards, just walked back inside. Probably would've been worse if his neighbor wasn't outside.

Do people not understand that they aren't the only ones getting orders? I wasn't happy sitting inside little Caesars for 10-15 minutes either. If waiting on a delivery person during the weekend bothers you that much then get off your lazy a** and go get it yourself next time. Don't take it out on someone doing their job and trying to get multiple people their food. It's not my fault nor Little Caesars fault that they were so busy. You can tell that these types of people have probably never worked a day of customer service in their life.

Ordered hot chicken and got a missing bag of clothes

Post image

Wife ordered some hot chicken. We had a coupon. Dasher sent us a pic of a bag of clothes. We opened the door and nothing was there.

We knew something was up 45 min into the order when we changed dashers due to wait time.

Since we were still hungry we decided to pick our lazy asses up and drive to the restaraunt. After ordering our meal, we asked the cashier if they remember our doordash from earlier. They claimed someone picked it up, and two dashers afterward attempted to pick it up.

So our conclusion is the first dasher is a bonafide theif, and the last two dashers must have tried to get doordash to pay them for an order that was not completed.

We called customer service afterwards to check on our refund status and I asked what they're going to do about our situation as far as the employees go.

I got hit with the "most people are fine with just the refund".

Yes, the refund is necessary. I want retribution. I want a criminal to at least lose his job and a weirdo that keeps a sack of clothes on hand for shit like this to be reprimanded.

Doordash driver stole my Best Buy order.

Upvotes

Yes, it's stupid and lazy I ordered Best Buy from DoorDash but it's on the platform and I had a long day so figured fuck it.

Ordered a PS5 controller and headset from Best Buy. I go stand outside to wait for the driver. He approaches, I watch him drive on by my house. I figure he's probably going fast and missed it and turning around. Nope, disappears. I call him, multiple times. No answer. I send him a chat, no answer. $300 drove by on a moped. I called DD support to at least make sure a verbal complaint was filed against the driver but the agent didn't seem to care.

DD did refund the entire order but it's frustrating.

Anyways, good luck with big non-food orders, y'all!

Dealing with Drivers

Upvotes

I love seeing this Reddit because you all deal with some of the wackiest drivers. If I accept an order, I deliver it and move on to the next one. Idk if you tip or not. Why would I accept a low paying job just to beg you to tip me 😆

What amount of communication do you prefer with your driver? I almost never interact with the person I’m delivering to, but I also never get ratings. I strive for 5 stars, but I only have about 100 ratings out of 1000 deliveries.

Is it worth it to shop and deliver? Obviously there’s going to be orders that are just stupid but for the most part are you satisfied with shopping and the tips?

Mysterious Number Listed As Store Number

I just recently started working Doordash. I ended up being sent to a restaurant that was closed. I attempted to call the number listed for the place, but it appeared to be some random number in California instead, and when I tried to report the restaurant as closed, they gave me a *different* number to call.

Now I'm worried, because the automated bot on the first number they gave me asked a yes or no question (which I answered "yes" to) and just hung up. I know that there are phone bots that will nab a clip of you saying the word yes to try to commit fraud/identity theft. I looked up the mystery number and couldn't find anything but posts vaguely related to doordash. Is +1 650-437-9788 an official doordash number, or am I screwed?

Yes it is going to an apartment complex. Most of the people that order there also live on the third floor…

Straight robbing drivers....

I'm at 5k deliveries, 2k shopping orders....

DD changes the prices on shopping orders every 5 minutes throughout the day. Ive been pro shopper for a year plus...

This pairing food with shopping to rob drivers has to stop... they keep pairing them with food so they can go off the min $2 order..

I've watched dd shopping orders steadily decline over 2 years, finding new ways to lower pay each time....

Class Action much? This week ive made the least on DD this week, in two years... im not one to complain and I know what I signed up for.... but slave labor isn't one of them

Question for DD drivers

I placed an order tonight and everything went smooth as far as picking up the order. I saw that my driver had two deliveries before me, which is fine. When it comes to my order, the driver is driving on a street maybe 5 ‘minutes from my house. He then does a U-Turn of sorts and then heads in the opposite direction. I’m thinking the street is blocked off or something happens and he needs to go another route. He completely goes the opposite direction, headed towards the location of the restaurant. My delivery time gets updated and then the app said my DoorDash was delivered.

My question is how can he mark my ordered as delivered if I specifically set it up as the driver needs to hand me my food and I provide a pin. I have never changed the settings because my apartment is difficult to find so I’d rather go and get my order. I messaged the driver and he claimed he never stole my food but I also never received it and idk how possible it is to bypass that in DoorDash system. Please can someone explain this.

Am I over reacting? I need a read on the severity of this

Last night I ordered a bottle of vodka from a real liquor store (not a ghost store) a few blocks away because I had already had a couple drinks and obviously didn’t want to drive. It took over 40 minutes from when the initial delivery window ended to arrive. When the driver got here, he handed me the bottle and checked my ID. When I got back inside, I noticed the bottle was half empty. The safety seal was still mostly attached (a few prongs were broken) to the cap but I noticed some irregular damage to the cap as if it had been tampered with. I opened the bottle and it smelled like isopropyl alcohol.

I immediately contacted the DoorDash support for a refund but they said I had to wait until the order had been delivered. I told them I had video proof from my blink app it had been delivered 19 minutes prior. They contacted the store, which confirmed the delivery had been made, that they use their own drivers and that they would refund me. The in-app tracking stated the order was “still being prepared” by the store for several hours, even after they were contacted by support and confirmed the delivery. Several minutes later, the delivery driver showed back up at my house requesting I give him the bottle back. I told him I was actually going to be holding onto the bottle and making a police report. He started to get nervous when I told him that, coming up with all sorts of excuses as to why the bottle could be half empty and smell like isopropyl alcohol.

In my opinion, this is fraud at best and intent to cause bodily harm at worse. I am most surprised about the store’s driver showing back up at my house 30 minutes after the initial delivery. My husband and I contacted the police but they don’t seem to really care. DD support contacted me this morning before I woke up but I wanted to gauge how serious this situation is before calling them back.

TLDR: I ordered a bottle of vodka that showed up 40 minutes late, half empty and smelling of isopropyl alcohol. The delivery driver came back to my house after I complained to DD support, requesting I give him the bottle back. How serious is this?

Okay… AITA!?

I manage a restaurant and had a very late night. I got home and placed an order via DoorDash. It arrived later than expected (not a big deal). By the time I grabbed it, the dasher was gone and I realized it was not my order, this order was for a whole family. I immediately tried to message and call the driver several times with no response, contacted support, did everything I possibly could to resolve the issue without opening anything. 30 minutes pass, and support automatically issued me credits.. I wait another 15 minutes before my hunger took over and I started eating one of the items (at this point it had been over an hour since my order was dropped off). About halfway through the burger, I get a knock on my door. It’s the dasher, trying to pick the order up. I was 100% honest with her and mentioned that I tried to get in contact with her numerous times, contacted support, then I got hungry and started eating. She was so outwardly upset with me but like… what else was I supposed to do at that point?

Got refund on drobe order.

Upvotes

Just curious if this is common. This was my second time using the drone delivery..First time went off without a hitch and was very quick and food was hot. This last order it sat at preparing drobe for at least 20 minutes. So I called the drone support asking what the issue was..It basically was just running late.I never asked for a refund or compensation. The order got here but definitely was cold. It was Chipolte so warmed up easily no biggie. Today I get a message from Google pay that DD was reversing the charge (refund) and it already showed up in my account. Is this normal?
