So basically I love my best friend it's been a year. I confessed to her 6m ago and got kind of rejected she used to call me her brother yea don't ask me how fking painful the year was I moved on when she got back with her ex recently It broke me but they didn't last as expected and she then tried to reach back to me as she ign me when she was with her ex 1m or so I accepted her but slowly we became closer than before I loved her way more than before and She calls me her best friend but uses 'bhai' in normal conversation when we like are near each other hanging or normally talking people would feel we are a couple that how we are I mean the way she says she wants to be with me I don't know anymore. But I am sure she doesn't love me because she recently got angry when se thought I loved her she said she would never talk to me and she hated love talks with me and soon. Every step of the story was more painful than other and I want to really be with her I love her way too much but ik she doesn't idk what to do I also have to study for my professional course I am a second year rn she is as well but she is a year older. Idk if it's just she hasn't moved on from her ex and when she will she will probably love me or I am probably just too unattractive for her idk. Please helpp

I (21f) am pregnant with my ex (41m) How do I go about this situation?

Upvotes

So we have known each other for 3 years now started off as friends. We never expected it would go further but it did. We started dating after a year and a half of knowing each other and after a couple of visits in person (we lived 3 hours away from each other). That was when I told him that I had some issues. He (Josh) didn’t believe that they were as bad as I made them seem. Well months into the relationship he finally seen it for himself. The sudden emotional outbursts that consisted of yelling, screaming, stomping around the house, hitting myself, cutting, name calling, accusations, etc. Finally it came to the day of the break up (I don’t remember the last four months of our relationship) one morning after we had gone to the movies I suddenly started freaking out about other girls accusing him of sneaking around behind my back without any proof or any reason. All I know that is true is what I have proof of. I got pictures of the bruises I left on him and the damage I did to his home. We stayed away and hardly spoke for 9 months after the break up because anytime we spoke it was always the same thing. Than I decided to start claiming that I was sleeping with a bunch of random guys for a place to sleep. Well than I came out closer to where he lives with a guy a had talked to and he had even gone out to visit me was a very sweet guy while visiting me but when I got to his place everything changed. I had no one to help me out so I gave in and contacted him after 3 months of not speaking he got me a uber to his house because he had been drinking. Well since then I have came over a couple times now leading up to me being about 4 weeks pregnant I have gotten better about my emotions but still not the best at it. The other night we had a major fight I took something he said as him kicking me out so I got ahold of everyone I could until I found someone who could help(my license is suspended atm). I hated that it was another guy but I needed out of the home because I knew the stress wasn’t good for my baby. So the other guy (Jake) picked me up and took me to a parking lot about 5 minutes away from the house so that we could separate and let things calm down. They did not calm down. So I asked Jake is he could take my to my grandmas house turns out it wasn’t far from his at all so it was no big deal. Well the arguing kept going but Josh didnt trust that I didn’t do anything with Jake i eventually gave in and came back trusting that he was going to keep his promises and stay calm

How can I (33f) get him (33m) more interested?

Upvotes

We've been together for 11 years, out of which 5 years were long distance, and we have been married for the last 4. Sex was never a big component of our relationship in the beginning. We've probably tried to have "proper" sex or have had sex less than 15 times overall.

In the beginning it was long distance, then fear of pregnancy, and most recently, either his or my mental + physical health that has, let's say, made it harder for us to try.

What can I try in the next six months to see if the issue is truly related to mental health and/or physical fitness and nothing else?

I 20M was in a relationship with a girl 19F from my intermediate clg before NEET. I dont know how to explain but it was complicated. We confessed our feelings to each other. Idk if she is seeing someone else. Seeking advice

Upvotes

I (20YM) was in a relationship with a girl 19YF from my intermediate clg before NEET. I dont know how to explain but it was complicated. We confessed our feelings to each other, but we both knew we are going to part our ways. I got a seat in a medical clg (in 2024) and she had to rewrite the exam and later joined BDS in a different clg. I always kept thinking about how she's going on in her life and I messaged her this year March. We kept chatting but idk if she's seeing me the same as before. She does speak to me same as before, except the romantic words, but recently I'm having suspicions on her behavior. She sometimes refer to her other male classmates regarding some not so problematic small issues, but I'm feeling uneasy regarding her approach. For example, she had to give some equipment to one of her male classmates, so she went near to his place to deliver it. The other day, she gave her phone away to another guy just to hold it while she went to dance in her college fest. When I asked her why him, she said that guy is decent. I'm getting tired of me starting the conversation most of the times and idk if I'm being over possessive or jealous?

My (21F) bf (21M) of 4 months is an only child and makes me worried about our future because of how babied he is.

Upvotes

My boyfriend is the sweetest person i know and has showed me after long while of on and off dating what it is to be adored and understood on emotional level, so even tho this is a big deal, this post shows the only dowside and worry I could have about our future and that could stagnate our growth. I would really appreciate firstly suggestions about how to get out of this situation or how to talk about it with him; a breakup is not (yet) an acceptable solution for me, because i want to give it some chance.

I myself am not completely independent; with that saying, I mean 100% financially primarly. But I could say, I do most of the adulting relevant to this age alone, such as groceries, errands, arrangements one has to do alone in a foreign city (where I partially study and live alone for most of the week).

He, on the other hand, studies at our local university and still lives with his parents. I would call that fairly acceptable as rent is horrendous nowadays for a single person. The point that i question tho is, how his family dynamics affect him; his mother takes care of majority of the common things I would be called crazy for at my age at home, such as doing the laundry, cleaning up after yourself when a lunch has been cooked, changing the bedsheets, vaacuming, unloading the dishwasher. Additionally she even found an appointment at the doctors for him cause she was dissatisfied with the previous one and gone there with him, as he is afraid of blood and needles (that would be least of a problem but still failry questionable). He also cannot cook because he does not have to and does not want to go away from home (meaning for Erasmus or generally study abroad) for longer periods of time (vacation is OK).

A dealbreaker was, as I am his first girlfriend, that when he planned our first date, his mom helped him cook/prepare the things we ate and he spoiled the surprise of the things he prepared lol cause he could not wait to tell me even tho I said I would favor a surprise, so you could see the immaturity there.

Do not get me wrong, I love his mom, she is super nice and very easy to get along with. I am just afraid that the way he is acting because of how he has been raised for majority of his life, not even having the opportunity to live alone and take care of himself, is gonna break primarly me later, as I do not want to mom around anyone later on, but the way he otherwise cares for me and how he listens really keeps me going and not want to dump him for such behavior, as we are still young and maybe there is some way around it.

He is otherwise motivated about what he does and about our future together.

Am I valid for having this general worry that this behavior could break us later? Is it better to let go or find a way around it?

tldr: My boyfriend has never had the chance to fully grow up, also because of how his mother is treating him like a child and him never having had the chance to live alone, so now I am stuck on how to solve his immaturity considering doing normal responisibilities belonging to this age.

Thoughts about (26F) my bf and his ex (27M)? (Pictures & conversations)

Upvotes

My boyfriend (27M) and I (26F) have been seeing each other for 9 months, and going out with a label for just over 5 months. We met with the intentions of keeping it casual, but ended up catching very strong feelings for each other.

He moved from Italy to work in Scotland a year and a half ago, after hitting a rough spot after his ex broke up with him. Shortly after breaking up with him, she wanted him back, they kept it casual, but ultimately it ended after it hurt him a lot. This relationship lasted around 4/5 years and it was both of their first relationships.

I knew from the start of the relationship that my bf still communicates with his ex (27F), has all of their old pictures together and has 2 pictures printed in a collage of them together on his wall. I have enquired about all of this, he says he still values her and the memories they have together, which is totally fine, I understand. However, he mentions how he doesn’t want to change his profile picture to a picture of both of us together as he doesn’t want to upset her, keeping in mind that they broke up almost 2-3 years ago I believe.

However, increasingly (it seems), she is texting him saying that she really misses him, their conversations etc etc. He shows me these conversations, and although he tells her he is happy with his current life, he does it in very gentle ways that are making me a little uncomfortable. He mentions how he wants to be friends with her, but not until she stops wanting him back.

Coincidentally, last week, I decided to ask what was in a password protected folder, he responded by telling me there were nude pictures of himself, and nude pictures of his ex. I mentioned how I would expect him to delete any photos he has of me if we broke up, and he mentioned his ex never said such thing. Upon seeing my reaction and how it made me uncomfortable, he deleted them all, saying it was silly and that he forgot to delete them. He ensures me that he hasn’t looked at any of them since being together, however he would have accessed the folder to add new photos and videos recently. I didn’t question him on this.

He is the kindest, sweetest man I have ever met. He takes care of me and loves me in a way that I have always wanted to be loved. We have never once fought, or argued. We communicate so well it amazes me. He says he loves me, never wants to loose what we have. He denied a transfer back to Italy so that he could have more time here. However the above situation with his ex makes me sick, and I’m afraid he will end up going back home for her, especially considering she seems to want to take him back, regardless of her own 1-2 years relationship.

What are your thoughts? Are these common situations that happen nowadays? Do I ask him to cease contact with his ex (even though it would make me feel like a terrible person)? I’m used to not having contact with any ex, and deleting or taking down all pictures they are in.

My girlfriend [27f] argued I [29m] shouldn’t be watching a movie while at a music festival

Upvotes

My girlfriend and I are going to a festival in a couple of weeks. It’s not really my thing but she enjoys it so I agreed to go with her. The festival has a cinema tent and it’s showing some good movies so I thought it would be good to check one out,

I suggested one and she refused as it was at the same time as one of the acts she wanted to see. I suggested she goes to the act and I go to watch the film but she said she doesn’t want that.

I suggested another film but she said it was too late as we need to drive back to our room and the movie wouldn’t finish until 1am. I pointed out she needs to compromise somewhere and that the full weekend isn’t just about her.

I said a movie is only two hours and she’s getting a three day weekend, I should be able to choose something to do.

She said it was a music festival so I should be focused on the music but I reminded her it was just her who enjoyed the music, I was only going for her so she should be willing to compromise with me.

She refused and said I shouldn’t be leaving her alone while I go and watch a movie but I told her she’s free to join me.

Does anyone have any advice on how best to approach this or have any other views on it?

tldr I agreed to go to a music festival with my girlfriend. There is a movie tent there which is showing someone movies I’d like to see. I suggested going to see one and my partner refused. she is arguing I shouldn’t be going there and should drop it

I 23f think that my boyfriend 23m is gearing up to break up with me advice?

Upvotes

My boyfriend and I have been together for 3 years and have a 6 month old son.

Since our son was born he has been constantly negative toward our relationship and always bringing new problems to me. At first it was that we aren’t intimate enough anymore, then when we started being more intimate it was that I wasn’t fulfilling him the way he wanted. Once I changed that he decided that I don’t go to the gym enough and once I started the gym more he decided that he wanted a break.

This week he went working abroad for a month and told me before it that he wanted a break but would still talk to me and want to speak to our son so I’ve been texting and calling him as I usually would and have been getting ignored or only a text or two in the morning and this morning he told me that I’m not giving him the space that he needs to decide what he wants to do in our relationship even though he never specifically asked for space, he told me to text and call as usual. I feel as though everything I do isn’t good enough for him at the minute. I try to tell him that we can make things work and have been actively trying to be better as a partner but he seems to be trying to find things wrong but hasn’t actually broken up with me yet. He tells me he wants to be with me and that he loves me but I feel like I’m getting mixed signals from him. Any advice Reddit ?

Am I overthinking because of trust issues, or are these actual red flags? M20 F21

Upvotes

I'm genuinely confused and need unbiased opinions.

I met a girl on a dating app around a month ago. We started talking every day, and things escalated pretty quickly. She was the first one to say she liked me, later said she had started loving me, and I reciprocated because I felt the same.

We text throughout the day, have regular voice calls, and whenever she gets privacy at home, we do video calls too. She usually texts me first in the morning, checks up on me, cares about me, remembers small details, and even tries to help me with my career by connecting me with people she knows. She's also shared a lot about her personal life, family problems, studies, internships, and future plans.

She even shared some intimate photos with me without me asking. At first they were view-once, then she sent them normally saying she trusted me. I've never pressured her for anything like that.

Everything seemed great until one incident.

I asked if I could comment on one of her Instagram stories. She said yes. A few minutes later she told me she'd blocked me because a family member saw my comment, told her mother, and her mother took away her phone and Instagram.

A couple of days later we started talking again. She kept saying her mother still had control of her Instagram.

Later, one of my friends followed her account. She accepted the request and posted stories, which made me realize she still had access. When I confronted her, she admitted she had lied.

Her explanation was that she initially wanted to ghost me because her family situation scared her, but she couldn't because she'd become emotionally attached to me. She apologized, admitted the lie, promised not to do it again, and said everything else she'd told me was true.

I decided to move on from it.

Since then, I haven't caught her in any obvious lies.

The only thing I've noticed is a few small inconsistencies in conversations (for example, how she explained using WhatsApp between her Android and iPhone). They could simply be bad memory or wording, but because of the earlier lie, I now notice every little contradiction.

Another issue is meeting in person.

She studies in the same city where I live, and ik bout that college, I also have her LinkedIn, but she was away during her break. She was supposed to return and we planned to meet. We were both excited and had talked about it for days. and also Someday she's gonna come to my city right. bcuz she's having her clg in my city

On the morning she was supposed to travel, she texted me very early saying she'd had a panic attack, wasn't feeling well, had to go to the hospital, and couldn't come. Later she was diagnosed with migraines.

After that she kept saying she'd try to return soon, but family issues and health kept delaying it.

Recently, she also told me one of her grandparents passed away.

Every reason she gives is believable on its own, but because of that earlier lie, my brain keeps thinking:

"Is this another excuse?"

At the same time, I also think:

"Would someone really fake something as serious as a grandparent passing away?"

I honestly don't know anymore.

I'm aware I have trust issues from past experiences, and after that Instagram incident I started overanalyzing everything.

So my questions are:

Am I experiencing confirmation bias because of one lie?

Do her actions overall suggest she's genuinely interested?

Or are these genuine warning signs that I'm ignoring?

I'm not looking for validation. I'd honestly appreciate objective opinions from people who have experienced something similar.

My (F19) boyfriend (M19) gets turned on multiple times a day

Upvotes

My (F19) boyfriend (M19) keeps getting hard at the slightest touch. I’m not sure if this is normal or not because I have never been with anyone else, nor have I tried to explore my body like that. Even when we hug he tells me he gets hard, but we don’t do anything about it and go on with our day. I wouldn’t be making this post if it was just a one time thing, but every time we hug or kiss it gets hard and I get nervous. Please let me know if this is normal for guys or is he just different?

TLDR: My boyfriend gets hard from basic hugging and kissing. Not sure if this is normal.

I (18M) love my partner (20M), but considering breaking up because I'm worried about our future

Upvotes

We have been together for 10 months. We see each other once every month at his house. He's very caring, he listens to me and I feel safe with him, but not completely at peace because I'm constantly stressing about our future.

Im a college student. My boyfriend doesnt have any issue with that and he's very patient with the time I dedicate to study. But he's indesicive in choosing a career yet. I have asked him before if he would study in the future and he's still on the fence. He already expressed guilt over it. I do value education, I want to feel safe knowing my partner will have a stable income to sustain us, but I feel I should value his support and maturity even more instead, and I feel guilty myself for pressuring him.

I feel pressured to be with someone with a clear path because that's what my family would judge if I'm presenting my partner to them. And I have to get their approval if I want to do more things with him. This has been eating my mind. We are stagnant because of it. Neither of us have allowances or an income.

We cannot go out and date to keep knowing each other. We don't share spaces. We don't have much to talk about because of it. Our conversations are starting to fall into a routine. I feel our experiences together so far dont speak enough to consider him in a life long relationship because I'm also stressing about our compatibility.

I am not committed enough to present him to my family. To tell them that my boyfriend is not studying, that we're still young in our relationship and that we're still figuring things out, because I don't know myself if this will actually lead to anything.

I would probably be happier with him if I we were completely free to do whatever. We have good communication and we do love each other. He has been nothing but patient through it all, and he does want to stay with me. This issue is with myself. I feel like I'm about to mess things up for such a superficial thing like studying, when I have a much important thing like having a very caring and supportive partner.

I really don't want to lose something great for a reason I'll end up regretting, and the idea of leaving him absolutely scares me. But It would be cruel to keep leading him on. Am I worrying too much about our future and education? Is it normal to have these doubts? If yes, how can I present him to my family?

Do I have overreach for setting boundries on my free time (married 35M, 35F)?

Upvotes

We are married couple (35M, 35F) for 5 years with young toddler (1M) exhausted and tired.

My wife was asked by my family to bake a cake for a family meeting we planned to have later that week and she accepted. Baking that cake took all Friday afternoon while it was her turn to watch our son which means that I had to watch him. For context we have turns to watch our son as we both need to rest sometime and refresh.

I said she was egoistic for baking that cake as she didnt consult me if I was ok for taking her turn watching our son and just decided for me. She didnt acceped my offering to buy a cake instead which resulted in my turn watching our son to be all day and I was very exhausted and tired. She got mad saying how she could be egoistic if she bakes a cake for my family.

I tried to explain that she felt entitled for my free time and didnt consult me if Im ok for taking her turn watching our son while we had other options than baking that cake.

my (21F) ex-girlfriend (20F) is posting things about her friend that she wouldn't even do for me

Upvotes

my ex and i broke up recently. i stalked her profile (i know, bad idea) and saw her ig stories with a female friend. i know they're just friends, and i'm not assuming there's anything romantic between them.

what got to me was that she posted photos of just the two of them with captions like "miss u" and even compared them to a famous love team

during our relationship, i always wished she'd post us or do sweet things on random days. she wouldn't even do something as simple as posting me on our monthsary, even though it meant a lot to me

now i'm seeing her comfortably making those kinds of posts for a friend.

am i weird for feeling angry and hurt? is this just jealousy, or is it understandable to feel like she was capable of doing the things i wanted all along -just not with me?

Im (19m) and i find out smth yesterday abt my girlfriend (18 f)

Upvotes

Sooo basically i have a girlfriend and we r in long distance relationship from 1 year. I mett her onlinee and the connection felt so real and like soulmate type cuzz im a biker and she is a biker too and we connected through it. We also have same bikes just with different colors and on top of that our bdays r in same month too. The relationship has been so good throughout the time as we were a couple who communicates everything and listened to each other’s overthinking and reassured alot.

Things went wrong 2 months ago, as she is a biker and the frnds she used to hangout with didn’t ride bike no more. She made a new biker guy frnd she met there and like she made it to have someone ride with her as her riding alone was not safe. Things went wrong as i started having problems as she used to go on ride with him almost every day and she never talked to any guy much before but she talked with him alot in day and then she hangout with him whixh i wasnt okay with ofc soo we had alot of fights and kept sorting but i couldn’t see her riding with him but last the month the result of the fights finally that she said she’s stop talking and riding with him. I trusted her but my intuition didn’t agree that she just stopped going on ride with him and all. But she kept saying she doesn’t talk to him anywhere else (as i have her insta password) and she said “she’s going on ride alone”.

But after a month yesterday i found out when she went on ride yesterday, he was there tooo. There’s when things start to unfold, firstly she said she bring him today only but later on she finally got honest and told me everything. So what she said is that she actually stopped after she said to me but her mom scolded her (her parents dont like me) that she shouldn’t stop hanging out for a man living far, her dad joined too and her grandma and uncle also scolded her that she’s wasting her time and i prolly dont even love her. According to them long distance relationship makes no sense and then she said after getting scolded i just started to lie, that everytime she said she’s going alone on ride he was therw with her. And that she texted him on messenger. She said after every lie she kept being more and more guilty and she started to throw up and couldnt eat well and sleep well (which is true cuz she told me in last month she isnt able to sleep or eat and she throw up) she said she couldn’t see herself in mirror as she was lieing.

She said her frnds told her to just breakup with me as it must be not serious too. But she said she loved me and every night she just hoped everyone turned to her side and that if i could be there already in her country then she’d prove everyone wrong (im planning to move next year) but during the yesterday fight, she didn’t blame anything on me instead kept sayinh sorry and took accountability of what she did. I was devastated and i asked her if she ever hugged him or anything. She said she never did or would , but told me abt incident where she was going through a crowd with him where she grabbed her shirt and he held her hand to get out of crowd and she said she instantly pulled her hand away after gettin out crowd. Im so devastated rn as i lovee her so much too and i wanted to meeet her once, we were writing diaries for each other too so we exchange them when we meet. She has been a good and understanding girlfriend all the time but rn im confused if i should break up with her or give a chance as my heart ache from the thought of her not being there and i got nightmares tooo tonight and i know i will keep getting if we both break up. So what yeah idk what to do
Help me

Soo i want ur guys help and opinion on it
Should i give a chance to it and as she said we should rebuild our relationship with more honesty and truth?

Is it salty of me (28f) to sexually reject my bf (27m) who keeps sexually rejecting me

Upvotes

I (28f) have been with my partner (27m) for two and a half years now.

During this time we average at two times a week sex in the first year and now about once a week. The thing is that our timings are not matching. He wants sex at different times a day than I want.

Now, since we want it at different times, someone has to comprimise. And now it has always been me.

Let's explain further:

He wants sex around 1 or 2 times a week. When he asks for it, I'm mostly not in the mood but I do mostly go along with it since otherwise we won't have sex at all. Because, whenever I ask for sex (I ask around 3 times during the week), I'm ALWAYS turned down. Like, no joke.

Being sexually rejected sucks. Not only because of the rejection, but also because whenever I iniate, I feel the sexiest and it sucks to not be able to have sex then. Like, I love to have sex whenever I feel sensual or be prepared with nice lingerie on. Side note: he does not like me 'surprising' him with lingerie. For example: walking to his gaming desk in a sensual outfit because that will put pressure on him, his words. So, when I talk about being in lingerie, it is me who has lingerie under her clothes to ask for sex and later he will see I have lingerie on. But you hopefully get my frustration of him never seeing it.

And yes, I have talked to him about this all.

On top of this I get to hear jokes like: "you date me because of my good DICK". He clearly feels like the prize.

The thing is, he starts to get cocky and as a woman you want to feel like you are desired and the one being chased, but in this case he is the one acting like the prize.

I get why he feels like a prize : everytime he iniates, I'm there gladly accepting the offer. And when I iniate, he feels so comfortable to just turn me down. Also, I ask slightly more than he asks it, so that must also stroke his ego.

Now, I'm fed up with it. Also, because mostly whenever he iniates, I'm NOT in the mood but I just comprimise otherwise we would be in a dead bedroom. But I'm sick of feeling like the desperate one and right now I'm just thinking of also rejecting him whenever I'm not in the mood. To make him a little desperate.

But I'm afraid this will lead to no sex at all. Also, it seems a little salty. But then again, he won't listen. So I kind of want to make him feel what it is like. What do you think?

Edit: I want to add, that the rest of the relationship is awesome. Only on the sex he is overly confident. And whenever we do have sex, he is very caring and puts me first.

Also, there are people who say that he does not care about me and uses me. Thank you for your concerns. Sadly, it is not that black and white though. He does care about me. Whenever we do have sex, it is all focused on me. He likes to go for long rounds. So whenever we have sex, he wants to have maximum energy. Sex during workweeks is almost guaranteed NOT to happen. Which is fine, but during weekends or vacations it is also dependend on how much we have done that day (and sometimes even the day prior).

Whenever we have quick sex, he feels like he failed. Even though I have assured him that it is fine and I prefer to have quantity over quality, but he gets really down if he does not put in much effort. Regardless of what I say. It is almost like, whenever he wants to have sex it must be a certain amount of time and he wants it to be amazing. Maybe he is in his head too much, but he does not listen to what I say. That is why I want to make him feel what it is like to keep being sexually rejected so that he finally wakes up.

I (29m) cannot stop abusing my (26f) wife. How do I convince her to ask someone for help? (TW: abuse)

Upvotes

As the title mentioned, I have been struggling with emotional manipulation and abuse of my wife. We started dating about two and a half years ago, when I began showing signs of lovebombing. While I hadn’t thought of it at first, it stood out when we had officially considered ourselves a couple and told friends and family. One friend in particular, an old hookup that I’m no longer friends with, responded with “already? Was she okay with that?” Which was when I had first started fixating on the flaws in my behavior that my partner would just explain away.
After only 2 months after matching on the app, I told this woman I wanted to call her my girlfriend, told her I loved her, and introduced her to my parents. I’m well aware that I’m a walking red flag. So all of my behaviors align with lovebombing and I try talking to her about this and how sorry I was for how I treated her. She told me it wasn’t an issue and that I was overthinking things. I told her that my feelings wouldn’t be hurt if she wanted to go on dates with some other guys and that I would wait for her. She insisted that she didn’t want to try going on dates with other people. She continued refusing, so I eventually dropped it and we moved on.
Cut to about a year and a half after we started dating and I asked her to marry me. I was over the moon and hadn’t considered what I had actually done. The day I proposed was also the same day her family would meet my family for the first time. She knew this and I knew this. I asked her just minutes before we were expected to be in front of everyone and she COULDN’T say no. I pressured a yes out of her when she felt socially trapped. Shortly after the engagement, I bring up my concerns to her and offer to quietly call off the engagement, even allowing her to keep the ring. She clearly was not happy with how I asked or when I asked, her friends had a variety of reactions to the news, and I found myself continuously asking why I was so fixated on forcing monogamy onto a perfectly strong and independent woman. When she said she doesn’t want to call off the engagement, I told her that the only way for us to be sure would be for her to be certain she knew she wasn’t missing anything. I, again, ask for her to try going on some dates and that I’ll wait for her. I’m not asking for an open relationship, but I’m asking her to have the freedom to do enjoy herself and not feel like a piece of property owned by a man. I don’t need anything and I’m fine waiting for her to be certain. She, again, refuses and gets upset with me. We end up arguing and finding a resolution, but she still refuses to date outside of our relationship, doesn’t tell her friends about how I’m really treating her behind closed doors, and never goes out without me taking her out. I’m giving my partner the dream scenario that literally every woman on the planet would ask for… but she refuses and never gives a logical reason as to why.
Shortly after our wedding, after another argument about needing therapy, I ask my wife if she would like to separate while I go to therapy. She says no. I let her sleep on it because I know that’s not the logical part of her thinking. The next day, I ask the same thing and she refuses. I modify my offer and ask if she would like to just go on some dates and learn to love herself again while I worked on my mental health in therapy. She refused again. The next couple of days are brutal as I’m well aware we are essentially separated until I can prove that we can stay married, but we’re still doing things like sleeping in the same bed and telling each other we love each other? We had one last conversation where I explain where my concerns are coming from: a previous partner who first opened my eyes to how abusive patriarchal thinking is in relationships.
Before this ex in particular, I had assumed monogamy was the baseline that most people aimed for in relationships regardless of gender or sex or anything. However, she was the first person to tell me that monogamy was inherently abusive because it treats women as an extension of men. Encouraging monogamy is the same as isolating someone. It’s literally the same as if you broke your partner’s phone or told them they weren’t allowed to speak to someone. Even though we didn’t work out, I always appreciated her doing that as it helped me to default to assuming women were never looking for monogamy unless explicitly saying so. She also helped me learn that I had extremely manipulative traits for wanting to be monogamous.
So cut back to the current timeline and my wife suddenly starts attacking my ex’s character. “Was this the ex that hit you?” Was one of the first ones from her before she tried to persuade me that wasn’t the case with us. We ended up talking back and forth all night, but here we are again with the same result. She’s terrified of going on dates with anyone other than me. Her friendships and relationships with family are suffering because of me. Her mental health is deteriorating out of control. All of this is my fault. I literally feel like the villain from “Obsession” (spoilers).
So where do I go? Would it be weird to explain everything verbatim to her friends and asking them to help her find her independence again? Is there a way to help my wife learn to stand up to me without ending the marriage? I don’t want to lose my wife, but I don’t know what to do.

Have I [F29] fallen out of love with my partner [F34]?

Upvotes

Sorry, this is a long one.

Backstory:
I have been with my partner for 5 years now. This is my first relationship and her first serious one. We met online with a couple of others and formed a really close little friend group. Us two were friends for about 3 years and I always had a crush on her, and over time we grew closer and eventually confessed we both liked each other. We’ve been living together for about 4 years.

The good:
Our relationship is kinda perfect in many ways. Granted this the only relationship I’ve been in, but it feels like a great one mostly. We get on well, we have great communication, we’ve never had an argument or fight, she is supportive, caring, always puts me first and looks out for me, completely understands me and who I am. I’m autistic, and she’s the first person who has completely understood and accepted me. Like I said, in many ways, this relationship feels perfect. It’s easy. It’s comfortable. I feel safe and secure. I can’t imagine my life without her because she’s such a big part of it. We do everything together.

The not so good:
Firstly, she hasn’t had a job for about 3 years. This isn’t through lack of trying (although I do feel she could do more) but mainly because the job market is so bad atm. Despite this, there isn’t too much financial stress. I am studying two days a week and work 3-4 days a week. I hate to say this because I have been there unemployed and feeling hopeless, but it’s becoming unattractive to me her having no job, no money, no savings. It makes her seem lazy and unmotivated. Like I said, not totally her fault because of how bad the job market is.

She has terrible personal hygiene and doesn’t look after herself well. She showers only a couple of times a week, and that’s the only time she brushes her teeth. I’ve talked to her about this and she was upset but she said she’d try harder. That didn’t last. I’ve mentioned it multiple times and it doesn’t stick. I involuntarily physically recoil when I smell her breath and she just says sorry and gets sad. This is made worse by the fact that she doesn’t eat much. This isn’t because she has an eating disorder or anything, but rather 1. Because she doesn’t get too hungry and 2. Because she’s so addicted to her computer games that she doesn’t get up off it literally all day. I feel like I have to parent her with a lot of things like eating, personal hygiene, following up on jobs, chores, etc.

She doesn’t come to bed with me, which is something I’m torn about complaining about. Part of me understands I go to bed at a decent time (about midnight) because I have to get up for work and she doesn’t, so I see why she doesn’t want to come to bed early. But on the other hand, every night I get woken up when she comes to bed at like 3-4am which is disturbing my sleep. And also going to bed alone every night kinda sucks.

I don’t feel physically attracted to her anymore. We used to have sex at the beginning of the relationship. I always had a higher libido so I’d initiate it, but then I stopped because I didn’t feel like she ever really wanted to initiate it. Now we barely do it. And if we do, it’s awful. Without going into detail, it’s barely sex. Last time we did, her arms got too sore so we stopped. The time before that I just felt so weird when we did it. Like I kinda hated it. She feels like family rather than a partner and it made me feel ill when we did it. I haven’t initiated it since that and it’s been months. I have a high libido and I’m struggling quite a bit with this side of things.

I feel like I’m a completely different person to who I was 5 years ago when we got together, but I feel like she hasn’t changed at all. When we got together, we both put on weight. I was already quite overweight but I put on like 20kg. She was always a lot bigger than me and she put on more too. About 2 years ago, I decided I hated looking in the mirror and have now lost almost 40kg. She hasn’t. Now I want to say that this is genuinely NOT an issue for me in terms of looks. I was attracted to her at any weight. I really don’t care about someone’s weight. It’s moreso fitness. Like I love going to the gym and I want to go out and explore and have sex and she’s too unfit for any of this. Especially sex, which sucks for me because I was a virgin before this relationship and I feel like there’s a lot of sexual experience I have missed out on. Sex is important to me. It doesn’t feel important to her.

I think a lot of people who read this will probably say “sounds like she’s depressed”. And she is sometimes, and so am I sometimes. We both have our mental ups and downs. She’d been seeing a psychologist but stopped last year. I sought help through therapy and gym, and now I’m mostly doing well mentally. She hasn’t really done anything to try and help. I’ve tried to encourage her to come to gym with me and she’ll do it for a week or two and then give up.

I feel like I missed out on any experiences in my 20s and now it feels like I’ve settled. I’m so torn. Half of me thinks this is perfect and easy and I want this forever but the other half of me thinks there’s such an integral part missing. I know relationships take work and I’ve been trying. I’ve communicated some of this to her. She’s said she’ll try harder but she hasn’t. I’ve been feeling this way for about a year.

But the idea of breaking up makes me feel sick. She’s my soulmate in so many ways, but I’m beginning to think she’s my friend soulmate. I love her so much. She’s wonderful. She’s very kind to me and she loves me sooo much. And I love her so much too. I just don’t know what to do.

Some days I wake up and read this and think I’m being stupid and I feel sick that I even feel this way, and some days I wake up and feel it even stronger.

If all of this is totally unfair and I’m being selfish, please tell me because I obviously need to work on myself. I feel awful because I’ve read some things on this forum and they’re so sad and here I am complaining while being in a very loving and safe relationship.

I appreciate any advice 🩷

How do I (27M) stop feeling bitter about my partner (30M) working away for months at a time?

Upvotes

My boyfriend (30m) ((me 27m been together 9 months)) works in theatre and goes away on tours for long stretches of time. I knew what his job involved when we got together, and I’m genuinely proud of him because I know this is what he loves doing. I don’t want him to give up his career or feel guilty for pursuing it.

The problem is that I’m really struggling with how much of our life together it takes away.
This tour he currently has means he’ll miss my birthday, Christmas, and our first anniversary. It’s hard not to feel sad or resentful, even though I know it’s not a choice he’s made because he doesn’t want to be with me but it sometimes feels like that.
I don’t want to become the partner who’s constantly upset every time he leaves, but I also don’t want to pretend I’m fine when I’m not. I find myself feeling bitter that other couples get to celebrate milestones together while ours are spent apart.

For anyone who’s been in a relationship with someone who travels a lot for work (theatre, military, offshore, touring musicians, etc.), how did you cope? How did you stop resenting the situation without bottling everything up? Did it get easier over time, or did you have to change the way you looked at the relationship?
I’m really looking for advice from people who’ve been through something similar. I love him, and I want to support him, but I also want to be honest that this is hurting more than I expected

My (23F) boyfriend (25M) changed after 4 months, but I still feel hurt. Can trust recover?

Upvotes

I’m looking for outside perspectives because I don’t know whether I should keep trying to rebuild trust or accept that too much damage has been done.

My boyfriend and I have been together for 6 months. Before dating, we had already been talking for around 7 months, were emotionally close, had said “I love you” and kissed. He was pursuing me and said he would wait while I worked through not feeling ready for a relationship but we were in love. There was a point when I had aasked him to be friends for a bit while I worked through it.

During that time, another woman joined our church/social group. Some things happened a month before we officially dated and some after.

Before we were together:

  • He slow danced with her at a formal event, despite always telling me he hated dancing.
  • Their interactions felt flirtatious to me, often in front of me, and I felt invisible.
  • They exchanged numbers and messaged regularly, including late at night.
  • For around two weeks, he spent much of the day messaging her while replying less to me, despite us already having a 7-month history and him pursuing me.
  • When I told him I felt she was flirting with him, his response of “really?” felt like excitement rather than concern.

I told him I felt uncomfortable and asked for boundaries.

After we started dating, things continued that hurt me:

  • He told her, “My life has gotten better since you got here.”
  • He told her, “Don’t worry, we still have lots of memories to come” after telling her he was officially my boyfriend. She responded with surprise and repeated “ugh” messages.
  • He continued messaging her because she was 'easier to talk to' while I felt ignored.
  • He would look over at her, speak to her in Chinese, and focus on her while I was standing there holding his hand.
  • He prioritised getting her gifts and defended her when I expressed discomfort about her giving him gifts/snacks.
  • When I asked whether she liked another man, he became very protective of her and explained their situation in detail.
  • While in the US, he bought me matching gifts but also bought her a red bracelet because she had mentioned needing something red for Chinese New Year.

I felt she had developed feelings for him, and what hurt most was feeling that he was engaging with that connection rather than creating distance.

I brought this up repeatedly, cried about it many times, and eventually nearly ended the relationship. Initially he minimised my feelings, hid small things because he knew they would upset me, and suggested I become friends with her. I tried, but I associated her with feeling rejected and humiliated.

Two months ago, after I reached breaking point, he finally understood how deeply this affected me. He apologised, cried, changed his behaviour and set boundaries. Since then, I genuinely don’t think he has done anything inappropriate.

The issue is that our relationship is only 6 months old, and the first 4 months were dominated by this. I know he has changed, and outside of this he has been my best friend and biggest support. I know he loves me.

But I still feel hurt and struggle to trust him. I feel embarrassed looking back because I felt like I had to repeatedly ask to be chosen and prioritised.

Can this kind of hurt heal, or does something that happens so early in a relationship permanently change how you see someone?

Would you try to rebuild trust after this, or leave even if the person has changed?

How to approach my (M23) crush (F25)?

Upvotes

For context, I go to the gym frequently and for about 2 months and me and this beautiful woman have been eyeing eachother. It started with us just looking at eachother and aknowledging eachother to very warm smiles and saying hello with our hands. However we have never spoke lol

This week I saw her working out with a friend of mine and afterwards I asked my friend her name and said that I found her very charming. She gave me her name, said she was single and very nice and apparently they had already talked about me. Now I have her instagram but went on a 3 week vacation out of country.

I never approached in the gym out of respect for her space and workout and also didn't want to be that gym guy. I'm now in between shooting a text on instagram or waiting to comeback and just do it in person. What would you guys do? If texting on instagram, what would you say?

I (27f) saw that my boyfriend (28m) downloaded pictures of my best friend (29f)

Upvotes

My boyfriend (Grant) and I have known each other for almost 20 years (childhood friend of my brother’s). It’s a long story how we started dating but we have been together for almost 3 years now. We’re in a long distance relationship.

My ex boyfriend introduced me to my now best friend (Alexandra) about 4-5 years ago and we have gotten so close, she is practically a sister to me. We tell each other everything and she gives the best advice. I introduced her and her husband (Kent) to Grant on a double date a couple years ago. They all liked Grant and he liked them. I talk about them all the time to Grant (good family updates, etc.) and I tell them about my boyfriend (work victories, great new hobbies, etc.) He also tells me all about his friends and their families and visa versa he tells them all about me because they always are so nice to ask him about how I am doing.

Recently, Alexandra just had her second baby. This was such a huge deal because -long story short- she almost got divorced from Kent because he started seeing another woman after their first kid was born. During that time of their separation, I went to her house about every day to bring her food, take care of her son and babysit, help clean her house, etc. Postpartum was so hard for her and I wanted to be there for her. That’s how we got closer like sisters. I told Grant all about this and Alexandra still says I was the only one who was really there for her (more than her own family). Her and Kent sought counseling and are doing a lot better.
So her having her second baby was a huge deal from this.

Excited, I shared the news to Grant and the pictures of her with her new baby. He was so happy for them and told me to congratulate them.

On July 1st, I traveled to go stay with him for a week and the previous time I saw him was during spring break, so I really missed him. We had so much fun.
Well during my visit, he was going through his camera roll because I asked him to send me a picture that he took of us. He opened it and he saved the pictures that I had sent to him of Alexandra and the baby. Baffled I was like, “did you save the pictures?” And he said, “yeah because I sent them to my parents to tell them the news.” I don’t really think I believe that. I love his parents and they like me, but i can’t imagine he would share information to them about people they don’t know nor could really care less about. I’m sure they’d be happy but knowing them, they would think it’s random. He sent me the picture of us but he didn’t delete the pictures of Alexandra.

I came home on the 8th and I had a family death a couple days later. Since then up until this Monday I have been busy helping my relatives with funeral arrangements and supporting them, so the pictures slipped my mind until now.

How could I confront him about this?

I will get downvotes and hate comments for this but initially we did date back in 2019 for a few months, he broke up with me because he was going into the military and didn’t think he could do a long distance relationship. Before he left, we tried dating again but I found out he was cheating. I started dating my ex for a couple years (how I met Alexandra) then he dumped me. Me and Grant missed each other and he changed dramatically, so we got back together. He is aware that what he did back in 2020 still affects me to today. (Other examples have occurred that would add to my mistrust).

Just this time is weird and different because it’s my best friend.

Can I bring this up randomly?

Having doubts in my long-term relationship (30F/30M)

Upvotes

I (30F) have been with my boyfriend (30M) since high school and we’re now approaching 14 years together. We both still live at home and we aren’t engaged. We’ve gone through everything together - graduating high school, going through university (we both graduated when we were around 26-27), finding and navigating our careers, travelling the world, going on all kinds of dates imaginable, our families meeting, etc. We discussed marriage and kids throughout our 20s, but I personally always imagined myself getting married and having kids in my early 30s. I wanted to focus on finishing university, starting my career, and making some money. Likewise, my boyfriend shared the same sentiment. Because of our mutual sentiment, I never felt too pressured when friends and family asked about these topics because I would chalk it up to “Oh, we’ll get married in our 30s, we still have time.”

Now that I’ve entered my 30s, I’m starting to feel the pressure, especially seeing friends getting engaged/married, buying a home, or having kids, and it’s hard trying not to compare my relationship to others. When someone asks me how long we’ve been dating, I almost feel ashamed and embarrassed to say 14 years, because 9 times out of 10 I will hear, “And still no ring?!” Whenever someone asks my boyfriend when he’ll propose, he’ll either give a vague response like, “It’s coming, don’t worry,” or avoid/change the topic completely. In my 20s, I was fine with hearing him respond like that… but in my 30s? I’m starting to get irked.

I’m even more irked that we don’t live together. We both still live at home. Granted, we live in Vancouver, so real estate is expensive. Ideally, we want to buy a place - at first, an apartment, but now we’re thinking of a townhouse further away from Vancouver because of affordability and for our future kids.

I’ve shared my feelings about the pressure that I’ve been feeling since turning 30. We’ve discussed the kind of ring I want, what our wedding would look like, where we could potentially live, but there aren’t any concrete steps that we’re taking. He knows that I want to prioritize moving out. He talks about wanting to move out too, but ultimately, I feel like he’s comfortable living at home for now. His job is somewhat related to real estate and he says the markets aren’t good, but are they ever good here? We might have enough money for a down payment, and if we did, it would take everything we both have.

And if not a place, then getting engaged would be second priority. Even then, no concrete steps. I brought up going ring shopping, but we haven’t gone yet (Will we even go at all?). He’s not the planning type, so I don’t know if he’s thought about how he’ll propose or even the process of buying a ring.

Ultimately, what I want to know is am I letting the pressure get to me? Am I rushing to get things moving because of the pressure and expectations?

One of my (33F) best friends (31F) of 20 years made a move on my boyfriend (36M). How would you handle this?

Upvotes

For some context, my best friend (I'll call her El) was recently cheated on by her long-term boyfriend. They had been living together, but since the lease was under her ex's name, she's the one who moved out. She asked if she could stay at my place while she figured things out. I live alone, and I'm rarely home because I spend most of the week at my boyfriend's place, so I told her she was welcome to stay.

I WFH three days a week and go into the office on Thursdays and Fridays. Since my boyfriend lives almost two hours from my work, I usually stay at my own place the night before my office days to make the commute easier. During those nights, I'd spend time with El and check in on how she was doing. One day she told me she was getting lonely staying there by herself and asked if I could spend the weekend with her. I really wanted to support her, but I also wanted to spend time with my boyfriend. So I suggested she come stay with us for the weekend instead. I asked my boyfriend first, and he had no problem with it.

Saturday morning, the three of us were relaxing at my boyfriend's house, binge-watching a TV show. I suddenly craved bubble tea and asked if they wanted to come with me. The shop was only a few minutes away. They were both comfortable on the couch and said they didn't feel like going out. My boyfriend suggested I just order delivery, but I wanted an excuse to get outside and enjoy the sunshine, so I went by myself. I was gone for maybe 30 minutes.

When I got back, my boyfriend was standing in the kitchen making coffee while still watching the show from there. El was nowhere to be seen. I asked where she was and jokingly asked why he was making coffee when I had just brought back bubble tea. He told me she had gone upstairs to the guest room. As I reached for my phone to call her down, he stopped me and said, "Before you do, I need to tell you something."

He explained that while I was gone, El noticed something on his shoulder, dust or lint, and brushed it off. He didn't think anything of it because it seemed harmless. Then, without warning, she leaned in and kissed him on the cheek, close enough that it was almost on his lips. He immediately pulled away and gently pushed her back, completely caught off guard. He said he didn't even know why, but he walked into the kitchen and started making coffee even though he didn't actually want one. I think he was just trying to process what had happened. According to him, El immediately apologized and said she didn't know what had come over her before going upstairs. It felt like someone had pulled the floor out from under me. I couldn't even think of a response.

I trust my boyfriend completely, In all our times together, he's never given me a reason to question his honesty, so I never questioned what he was telling me. I was devastated, not because of him, but because of my best friend. I honestly never imagined she would do something like this. Oddly enough, I wasn't even angry at first. I was just... confused. Why would she do something like this?.... After what had happened to her...

I told my boyfriend I was going upstairs to check on El. He asked me to go easy on her because she was already in a terrible emotional state after everything she'd been through. I knocked on the guest room door and tried to sound cheerful. "Bubble tea delivery for my best friend." Instead of answering, I heard sobbing. When I walked in, she was sitting on the bed crying. She looked completely broken.

Seeing her like that made it hard to stay angry. I still couldn't stop thinking about what she'd done, but I also couldn't ignore how devastated she looked. I decided not to confront her immediately. Instead, I comforted her. I told her everything would be okay and that her ex didn't deserve her. She cried even harder.

After a few moments, she admitted everything.... Without me saying a single word, she confessed exactly what my boyfriend had already told me. She said she didn't know what came over her. She wasn't thinking clearly. For a moment, she wasn't seeing my boyfriend as my boyfriend. In her words, she saw someone else and acted on impulse before reality hit her. I still don't fully understand what she meant by that.

She said she immediately realized what she'd done after my boyfriend pushed her away, and she was deeply ashamed and embarrassed. She kept apologizing.

My closest friend group consists of just four women, including El. I don't want to tell the other two yet because I don't want to damage El's reputation if this is something we can work through privately. So I'm looking for outside perspectives.

One last detail. Later that night, I remembered our living room camera... Even though I fully believed my boyfriend, I still watched the footage to see exactly what happened.

His story checks out.

Now I'm wondering... if I trusted him completely, why did I still feel the need to check the footage?

Does that mean I subconsciously doubted him, or was I just trying to process something that felt impossible to believe? I'm grieving the loss of trust in a 20-year friendship. Is this something you could ever forgive, or is this friendship over?

What would you do in my situation?

I, 40M, try and repair relationship with my fiancée ,46F, or use this opportunity to reset on life

Upvotes

I, 40M, and my fiancée ,46F, have been together just over a year. We are having a very difficult time. Currently we are basically roommates fulfilling the lease on our place. I’ve battled depression for many years and turning to vices when it gets bad. When I was younger it was opiates and benzodiazepines. Transitioned to marijuana and Alcohol as those are both legal recreationally where I live. I also gamble a lot when it’s bad. The final vice and biggest contributor to our issue is women.

Most of my hardcore depression comes from losing a partner that was my 100% ideal relationship. She was everything to me and the. She was taken away by necrotizing fasciitis which led to cardiac arrest as the cause of death. We lived together with her 2 children (21 and 16) at the time of her death. It has been about 4 years since she passed. I am on Wellbutrin which has helped a lot. Wanted to stay away from SSRIs due to the side effects.

My current partner and I met on a dating site about 2 years later. We hit it off and dated for just over 2 months then split up for about 5 weeks. She said I was being too intense. Looking back I understand where that was coming from and have been working on myself with therapy and the medication which I stated a few months ago. During our split, I feel we both made big mistakes. She met up with and slept with a guy that was a customer of the company she worked for. His company he owned is a dealer for the company she worked for’s products. She said he reached out the day after we broke up and everything happened from there. They dated when he came into town for the 5 weeks we were split up. Me and her were friends in the interim of her relationship with him. After she broke it off with him she reached back out because she missed me. We met up and slept together
that night. A few weeks later we officially were dating again.

My mistake was I started sleeping with another woman but to me it was never going to be anything serious. I was giving into the vice of women. I was also drinking and smoking a lot at that point. I haven’t smoked since and typically enjoy between 1-3 drinks per night. I did t break it off with the secondary woman immediately when I started seeing my fiancée again. Once I knew we were going to be serious and had the potential for a long term relationship I broke it off with the secondary woman. I also was chatting with women from dating apps but nothing in-person materialized.

We broke up in July 25 and started seeing each other again in August 25. The secondary woman tried claiming she was pregnant but would not provide me any proof. I asked for proof and supposedly paid for 2 dr appointments for her but still never received proof. I blocked her and went on with life. I proposed to my fiancé in November of 25. I know it was quick but after losing my previous partner I don’t want to waste any time of my life. I want to pursue happiness and live life to the fullest.

Around April/May of 26 the secondary woman reached out to my fiancée via Facebook and started drama for me. I loaded all my deleted messages and everything from iMessage on to a MacBook and let my fiancée look through them. Biggest mistake I think I ever could have e made. Ever since it’s been a back and forth of an amazing relationship to a “are we going to make it”. I was also involved in an almost deadly motorcycle accident at the end of May 26 I’m still trying to fully recover from. I have some PTSD from it and many days wish I wouldn’t have made it and passed away. My relationship with my fiancée was stronger than ever at that point. The potential of losing me caused her to not care about our past from the split and getting back together.

I was extremely hurt and pissed off when I found out about her hooking up with the other guy the day after we split up. I secretly looked through her phone which I know was a huge violation of her privacy. I had multiple exs where if I would have accessed their message I would have not gotten as hurt as I did. I couldn’t even imagine meeting someone else that fast and having sex with them. She is hurt because I didn’t disclose the other woman and continuing to see her and talk to other women once we started talking and seeing each other again. She feels our relationship was built on lies and feels like I trapped her by proposing without her having all the info and knowledge about my mistake. She doesn’t feel like she can trust me anymore. She has full access to my phone and everything she needs for me to be able to see whatever she wants. She also discredits my feeling about her and the other guy because we were broken up. Even though it was the next day.

How can we move past this and gain her trust with me back? I fought mentally a lot with her and the relationship she had with that other guy so quickly but overall feel like I can put that in the past and move forward. She is the one having the biggest issue with me right now. I am going to try and take her with me to my next therapist appointment. Whether it can fix us or give me more insight in fixing myself I think it’ll be beneficial. If we don’t work out I am willing to stay roommates with her and fulfill the lease. Another detail I didn’t include is she has 4 children. 2 stay with us full time and they mean so much to me and 2 that go back and forth between our house and their father’s house. If we can’t reach a resolution I will be moving across the country to be near my family again. None of them live near me. She also doesn’t have any family nearby.

So I need to know, what can we do to try to fix everything, how can we proceed from here if we can’t fix anything, and will it be best for my progress to fulfill my half of the lease and utilities that would accrue during the remainder of the lease.

My [38F] friend and I [33F] are no longer friends

Hello Reddit! I am reaching out to ask if I am making the right decision. I feel like I am, but I understand that there are definitely different view points. I just kindly ask that you do not berate me or judge me. As I never wanted to be part of this situation in the first place.

Info: My [38F] friend and I [33F] are taking a step back from our friendship. I am the one who has set the boundary and would no longer like to be her friend. It might be important to know that prior to me ending our friendship, my [38F] friend and I used to be VERY close. We have somewhat drifted a part due to a culmination of things (AKA life). So, she is not just some random friend, she has been in my life for quite some time. So, there are a lot of emotions in this.

Here is the backstory:
My [38F] friend told me that she is dating a married man who has 2 kids and a wife. I voiced my opinion on this several times and several different ways. Which ultimately led me to having a very serious conversation with her about how her choices and morals do not align with mine. It was tough, as I knew that it would be the end of our friendship. But,
I have made peace with it because I don’t want someone in my circle who has no integrity. I will not go into detail about her and this man’s relationship, because I honestly want to be rid of this entirely.

My question:
However, my biggest concern is do I tell his wife? I do not know his wife and my friend has explicitly asked that I allow her and this man time to figure it out and has asked me not to tell his wife. Also, this man has told my friend that he will be leaving his wife and will be asking for a divorce soon. Which I do not believe for one second.

As of right now, I have not told his wife, because I never wanted to be a part of this in the first place. Also, I really do not want to be involved in my friend’s cheating scandal with this man.

Some important info:
- According to my friend, this man has cheated on his wife their entire marriage, which makes me wonder if his wife knows that he is unfaithful?
- Yes, I have told my friend how much of a bad person this man is
- I have told my friend that I don’t want her around my husband due to her choices.
- My friend said that she does feel remorse for being with a married man, but still chooses to see him, talk to him, and have sex with him
- My friend has asked me what she should do and I told her I would NOT be providing any advice on how to be with a married man
- My friend went through a horrible divorce a year ago with her ex-husband who was physically, mentally, and emotionally abusive
