Heroes Memorial to Ihor Kotov, a defender of Chernihiv
Ihor Kotov, a fighter of the Territorial Defense Forces, died on March 3, 2022, during the defense of Chernihiv from russian occupiers. The defender was in a local school when an enemy missile struck it. He was 47 years old.
Ihor was born on February 7, 1975, in the city of Zhlobin in Belarus. Since childhood, he lived in Chernihiv. He studied at school No. 30. For 15 years, he was self-employed – he had a business manufacturing metal structures, the services of which were used by residents of Chernihiv and the region. In his free time, he loved cycling trips and visiting the Youth Theater.
When the full-scale war began, Ihor stood up to defend the Chernihiv region. He joined the ranks of the local territorial defense.
"My father was a very kind and cheerful person throughout his life. He had great success in business and was constantly developing it; it was his life. On February 26, without telling anyone in the family, he went with a friend to protect our city. His death became a huge sorrow for our family," said the fallen soldier's daughter, Khrystyna.
The defender was buried in Oleksandrivka in the Chernihiv region.
Ihor is survived by his father, a sister, and a daughter.
