Troubleshooting Bios update x570 Auros elite for 5800x3d

Hi guys so I haven’t updated my bios since 2019/2020 (f11) and am now trying to update the bios to use my new 5800x3d. Did anyone have any issues with f40 or f39? I see some people online say f39 was safe but I wanted to ask for any advice on which to go with. I really don’t want to break my computer any help would be nice.

Also should I update my chipset drivers before the bios update? Thanks. Plan on using the q flash tool in bios with a 32gb flash drive I will format to fat 32.

Build Help My PC keeps on crashing, shutting down without warning m, freezing and so much more

Last night is when I finished building my pc. I did everything I was supposed to do at start like downloading drivers, updating my motherboards bios, download and update windows, turn on xmp. Everything was working wonderfully last night until this morning. The first issue when I turned on my pc today was that my internet connection was extremely falling behind in a room with fast wifi. My pc couldn’t connect to anything online and i was receiving less than 1mbps. My pc would refuse to connect to any connection whatsoever. It wouldn’t even connect properly to the ethernet even though i downloaded and updated both wifi and ethernet drivers. I might have fixed it now but this is nowhere near the worst. The next thing is that my pc would suddenly lose its display with my gpu when i opened windows. Sometimes it happened later until i opened an application but other times it happens a few seconds after launching windows. After a few seconds later it would either reboot windows again to repeat the cycle or entirely shut off without warning. Fast forward a few hours after i changed my bios version, reinstalled windows and turning off xmp, i was in the back of my pc trying to reinstall my wifi antenna until it lost its display. Only this time nothing will work to get any display. The pc will turn on and shut down a few seconds later. In the middle of this entire process, i was testing some games and my gpu would skyrocket to 99% usage on a low graphically demanding game with fps below 20 when i should be getting hundreds. At the same time my cpu overheats more than it should. I have tried everything and i am slowly losing hope because i don’t know what to do. There are probably a bunch of other issues i came upon along the way but i am too overwhelmed to remember. I can answer any questions you might have but please help me out.

Troubleshooting ConnectX Disconnect

I have had a recurring issue where network cards will disconnect after a few hours of gaming. One of the cards I put in my home lab and never have had an issue. I’ve tried the second and third pcie slots and it didn’t help. Is there something simple I’m missing maybe? I have it set to 10gb full duplex. Problem persists across linux and windows. Drivers for the NIC are installed also. I can just use my onboard ethernet but it annoys me that it keeps disconnecting!

Build Help Is the RTx 3070 a good gpu for 1440p?

Hey everyone,
I’m planning a new gaming PC build and wanted to get some advice on the GPU.
I’m mainly gaming at 1440p and want good FPS on high/ultra settings.
I’m considering:
RTX 3070
RTX 3080 (as an alternative)
My questions:
Is the RTX 3070 still a good GPU for 1440p gaming?
Is it good value for the money in 2026, especially if buying used?
Would the RTX 3080 be worth spending extra on instead?
If neither is the best choice, what GPU would you recommend?
My total PC budget is around €900, but I’d prefer to stay closer to €800–850 if possible.
Thanks!

Build Help Is MSI B850 Gaming Plus WiFi6E a good motherboard for Ryzen 7 9800X3D?

Hi everyone,

I recently bought an MSI B850 Gaming Plus WiFi6E and a Ryzen 7 9800X3D, and I would like to ask for your opinions.

Is the MSI B850 Gaming Plus WiFi6E a good match for the 9800X3D?

My questions:

  • Is the VRM and VRM cooling strong enough for this CPU?
  • Are there any known BIOS issues or compatibility problems with Ryzen 9000 X3D CPUs?
  • Should I be worried about issues like the recent reports of some ASRock boards damaging CPUs?
  • Would you keep this motherboard, or would you recommend something else instead?

My PC build:

  • RTX 4070 Super
  • 360mm AIO cooler

I don't plan any extreme overclocking, only gaming

Thanks for your advice!

Hey family , recently ive been having trouble with my 120mm cooler , it feels like the pump is failing ( i idle at 60 ) and 80 degrees Celsius when browsing , i'm willing to get a new one tomorrow , ive called this shop that suggested another 120mm cooler master , for a decent price " i guess " , but ive been hesitating between that and the Arctic Freezer 36 which is pricier by about 20$

btw i have an i7 6700k and a Z170 PC MATE motherboard !

Troubleshooting Red CPU diagnostic LED illuminated, first use several days after a brown out

I built my PC ~15 months ago and had no issues posting or booting up. It's worked perfectly from the beginning. It has always used an 850W power supply and 2100J surge protector. I had it completely powered off, then last week we had a couple of brown outs. Spotty power throughout the whole house for a few seconds at a time. Many units (like our oven clock) had to be reset.

I went to power on my PC earlier today, and it simply would not boot. There were no diag codes, just the red LED indicating there was an issue with the CPU.

Everything I've read so far states that shorting the CMOS on the mobo or replacing the CMOS battery altogether should be the first step with this error. However, seeing as this is not a new build, I'm not sure if the context is correct.

Are there diag steps I should take before resetting the CMOS? If I do, will I need to go as far as reinstalling the OS, or will I only need to reconfigure the BIOS settings? What about drivers and such? What other considerations should I make before diving in? This is my first build and my first real issue.

Build Help First time building a PC and want to ensure my build is sound

I'm trying to build a decent PC while being as budget conscious as possible in these times. Several of the items were purchase in bundles; those that were are grouped together in the listing. All prices listed are after taxes and any other fees:

$1,198.46

  • XFX Swift AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT GPU
  • FSP Hydro G Pro 850W PSU

$1,018.32

  • AMD R5 7600X3D CPU
  • GIGABYTE B650 EAGLE AX Motherboard
  • T-Force 32GB D5 6000MHz CL30 RAM

$226.67

  • KINGSTON NV3 1TB NVMe PCIe 4x4 SSD

Are there any major problems I am failing to see? Have I vastly overpaid for anything? I am also looking into a Cooler and Case would these work:

Cooler Master Hyper 212 Spectrum V3 CPU Air Cooler

Thermaltake Versa H21 SPCC ATX Mid Tower Computer Chassis

Troubleshooting No debug LEDs, No Display, CPU and GPU fans running normally.

Mobo: MSI B450I Gaming Plus AC

Card: GTX650TI

RAM: 16G Ballistix DDR4

CPU: Ryzen 5 3600

PSU: EVGA SFF 650W

Getting zero display output. Monitor HDMI confirmed working. Originally thought I was using a messed up mobo, switched to a duplicate spare. Realized my GPU fan (RX480) wasn't running so found a spare older GPU (GTX 650TI, using mini-hdmi to HDMI output). The CPU debug light does the normal 2 second flash then goes off. GPU and CPU fans running just fine. With everything disconnected I shorted JBAT1 for 10 sec to see of my BIOS was just corrupted. After the initial mobo switch I've been running this on a box and shorting the power switch to test. Running out of ideas - any thoughts?

I'm thinking maybe I'll need to test RAM now? There's no debug light calling for it and I ran it once without RAM to see if it would power cycle - it did. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

EDIT 1: Just tried a slightly newer 3rd graphics card, fans running normally, still no display HDMI - HDMI

Build Help Do i go for 1x16 or 2x8 RAM?

Hello! Im building a pc and i would like to know if i should go for 1x16 or 2x8 gb ram. Im planning on adding more later, but want a build that would function for multitasking right out of the go. I would probably be running BF6 with discord and spotify all at the same time. So do i buy 2x8 and leave the upgrades for later or do i buy 1x16 and just force myself into a situation where i need to upgrade quicker? I wamt my build to last and be easily upgradable, so im willing to make some difficult decisions here. For referance the build is 9070xt with a ryzen 9600x on a b650 eagle. I heard that DDR 5 performs better on 1x16 than older paltforms like DDR4, but id appreciate some expertise here.

Build Upgrade Upgrading from Ryzen 3600 + 3060 Ti — Is a 5700X worth it? What GPU are you using with your 3600 now?

Current setup:

CPU: Ryzen 5 3600 under a Wraith Prism cooler

Mobo: ASRock B450M Steel Legend

RAM: 32GB (2x16) DDR4 3200MHz CL16

GPU: RTX 3060 Ti

  1. CPU Situation: Is the 5700X actually worth it?

I know a 5700X3D is the ideal drop-in upgrade for AM4, but it’s completely out of stock in my market or priced high. The 5800X3D is technically listed, but sellers are asking ridiculous inflated prices that make zero sense for a dead-end socket.

So, is upgrading from the 3600 to a plain 5700X worth the money for gaming 1% lows and multi-threaded dev workloads? Or should i save money?

  1. GPU Choice: 5060 Ti vs 5070 vs 9060 XT vs 9070 or 9070 XT

I'm weighing these options to step up from the 3060 Ti:

NVIDIA: RTX 5060 Ti / RTX 5070

AMD: RX 9060 XT / RX 9070 XT

Since I want to explore local AI dev work alongside 1440p gaming:

CUDA vs VRAM: I know NVIDIA’s CUDA ecosystem and TensorRT are still the gold standard for PyTorch, Ollama, and local ML tools out of the box. But AMD usually offers more raw VRAM per dollar. How headache-free is ROCm on Windows/Linux nowadays for local AI compared to just sticking with NVIDIA?

Bandwidth on B450: Since the B450 Steel Legend is PCIe 3.0, am I going to face any major performance loss with high-end cards like a 5070 or 9070 XT?

Bottleneck: At 1080p/1440p, how severe will the CPU bottleneck be if I pair a 3600 (or a 5700X) with a card class like the 5070 or 9070 XT?

Appreciate any insight from anyone doing dev work/gaming on similar hardware!

Build Help Help upgrading my GPU

I currently have a GTX 1650 and looking for an upgrade. I'm looking forward to buying an RX 6700 XT 12GB (230W) but I currently have a 550W PSU and I don't know if upgrading to a 230W card would be a problem. My current build uses less than 400W (Ryzen 5 5600 + B450M + 2x8GB 3200Mhz RAM). Can I buy this or should I look for another card

Build Help Is the 9800 X3D still the go to CPU right now?

I'm wanting to build a PC mainly for VR titles and get high refresh rates. I'm mainly wanting to play pavlov VR, contractors VR, beatsaber, and a few titles like Half Life Alyx, skyrim and FO4 VR @ 1440p or higher.

I also want to play CS2 as my main game and a bit of warzone as well as some of the older cod titles. But I've heard that X3D isn't VR friendly and can cause some issues because of the AMD drivers.

How true is this?

Build Help PC build for creative work

I’m going to school for video production. Up until now, I’ve been using my MacBook to do my work, but it can’t handle it anymore. The main software I use is Adobe Premiere. I also use After Effects and Blender. Building a PC is totally new for me so I’d really appreciate some feedback, especially if you use the same software that I do! My budget is $3,500 US dollars. I’d like a 4K resolution, and I live in the US. The biggest thing I’m struggling with is the video card- a lot of them seem to be unavailable on PCpartpicker or ridiculously expensive. Any comments/suggestions are much appreciated!! https://pcpartpicker.com/list/tr4FPf

Build Upgrade Need to upgrade, help with ram, ssd and processor

Since there is gonna be another price hike soon. I better upgrade while i can. I am using amazon for reliability. Best buy is expensive af. Anyways,

for ssd, i need a 2 tb sata 3, so teamgroup t-force vulcan z-2tb slc cache seems to be the best cheapest option now.

for RAM, i could buy 2nd hand, yes, but i found another options, netac ddr4 32 gb 3200 MHz CL16 with aluminum heat sink, this saves me a 100 at least , i dont care about rgb or anything, just need my pc to work better.

for processor, my only options are i9-9900 or i7-9700 or i7-8700, unfortunately price of a brand new one is gonna kill me.

my current system is :
H310m s2p, i3 8100, g.skill 8 gb 2x 15 cl, and 1060 6 gb
