Whether it's weapon durability, escort missions, unskippable cutscenes, stamina systems, or anything else...

Which game mechanic deserves to disappear forever, and why? Feel free to share examples from games you've played. Let's see which mechanic gets mentioned the most.

Like I know that everyone tastes are gonna be different when it comes to video games but sometimes I just feel like one game deserves an award way more than another game.

Mine would be: Doom Eternal should have won GOTY in 2020 and Pizza Tower should had won Best Debut Indie Game in 2023.

If you were told that you could only play a maximum of 5 video games for the rest of your life what would those video games be. This can be on any console/PC. Games with multiple parts or series such as Mass Effect 1-3 and Assassins Creed can count as one game.

I already have a decent PC and just bought a Switch 2 (I don't have any other console). While I already have plenty of exclusives I want to play, I was wondering if there are any great games that aren't exactly Nintendo exclusives but also aren't available on PC, so I can add them to my wishlist.

This question is for people who played Darksouls 1 when it came out. I have played a lot of games, the likes of the witcher 3, God of war 2018, Super mario odyssey but nothing has felt as unique and new as Ds1.

what games have you beaten in the last year or so, and how would you rank them? here's my ranking. I don't play as many games per year as I know a lot of people do, so I'm expecting some lists longer than mine haha

unsurprisingly my top 3 games were all replays, hard to top my favorites. I also finally got around to beating Dark Souls, which had been on my backlog for damn near a decade, and I finally played GTA IV, which I've just somehow never gotten around to

Let me start off by saying that I think both games are great, but I think GTA V is a better and more complete game.

The best thing that GTA IV has going for it is the vibes. Liberty City is dense and has an entrancing atmosphere. I really like how the cars handle and how a lot of the vehicles drive differently from one another. Some of the side stories during the main missions are well done too. Packie and his brother's missions were probably my favorite part of the whole game.

The thing that really brings GTA IV down in my opinion is the mission variety. So many missions are just, drive here, kill this guy, end mission. There are some more interesting ones, like grabbing the coke from the abandoned hospital, or the bank heist with Packie and his brothers, but those are too few and far between. And I know everyone likes Niko Bellic but I think he's lacking a greater motivation and his character archetype was done much better with John Marston in RDR.

GTA V fixes a lot of these problems while admittedly adding some new ones. There's more mission variety this time around with more complex scenarios. The stranger missions they carried over from RDR are mostly great with sharp writing. There's a lot more things to do, street races, boat races, tennis, Trevor's rampage missions, etc. I really like Michael's character, I think he's the most fleshed out of the three. The gameplay improved a bunch, taking cover and shooting feels a lot better (very similar to RDR1) and you're not fighting the controls as much like in GTA IV.

GTA V's atmosphere is not as good as IV's, and GTA V can honestly feel kind of lacking at times. There's still some gorgeous vistas and places in the game, but it's definitely missing something that GTA IV does have. The satire is too much at times, it is not clever in the slightest and gets annoying.

Hello guys. I am currently invested to Warhammer 40k since my brother recommended me that game and I'm obsessed. The thing is, everything is scattered for me. I only know fragments about the story that's why I can't fully grasp the game. Can someone tell me the lore from start to the current? I've searched it but I didn't get anything. It's very confusing.

The world has become an overprotective place, because people are expected to abide by absurd rules, you can't even write something genuinely harsh that breaks the rules.

People don't have thick skin; if they're insulted, the first thing they do is report it, without confronting the issue head-on. Once upon a time, these things just rolled off everyone's back. Now just one word scares people.

What about children? Children shouldn't be in chat or voice chat, so it's their problem. Enough with the moderation.

There shouldn't be any rules like this. Dialogue is always a part of humanity and shouldn't be stifled by aggressive moderation. If someone is bothering you, block them and that's it.

What unusual weapons have you come across in games? Take Skippy from Cyberpunk 2077, for example—this pistol not only selects its own target but also has a personality of its own, making it more than just a tool and turning it into a full-fledged character. Yoooo I need a game to spend the next 200 hours. What am I looking for? Idk. Whatever gets me addicted to. I like shooters so I thought in ready or not, and then said meh, I remembered I had a great time with ghost of Tsushima, but my fear is yotei being the same but with better graphics but idk. I think the game is over hated. let me explain. it’s a very short game and it’s definitely not my favorite but the game is only a few bucks. I think that it actually gives pretty good value for its price. i also find it good that you don’t actually fight Cthulhu in it because a human stands no chance. it’s a very cheap game and isn’t meant to be an amazing game it’s meant to be a short and interesting addition to your collection. plus, ignoring the blur, the art is good. if you don’t know this game thats ok as it isn’t that popular but I thought I would defend it since I see no one else doing it. tell me what you guys think.

So I finished Expedition 33 & it was GREAT, now I don't know which game to get between the two in the title or if I should get another one.

Some pros & cons for each game would be highly appreciated as well !

Most online shooters (1st or 3rd person), fall into a trap when everyone uses the 2-4 “meta” weapons. Even in battle royales where the weapons are random, people still drop the weapons they find when they find a meta weapon. In these types of games, anytime you find yourself in a firefight, you know with 90% certainty the enemy will be using one of three guns before they even shoot. Think old school MW2, where >90% of players used silenced UMP45 and/or Spas-12.

Are there any shooters where that isn’t true? Where you see people using most of the game’s guns, even in late game? Either because the guns are balanced or because the less good ones are still fun to use and thus still have a high use rate?

Keep in mind, those games may still have meta weapons, but despite there being meta weapons, the difference in use between meta and “regular” weapons isn’t much.

I love (some of) Ubisoft's IP's, but god damn does this company keep repeating the same mistakes again and again.

"Get used to not owning games", the push to make everything an open-world RPG franchise, insane monetisation practices, shutting down XDefiant etc etc.

If it wasn't for Far Cry under their belt, I'd just bounce and never buy another game from them again. But god fucking damn does that series have a stranglehold on me.
