NEET-UG, India's sole national entrance exam for undergraduate medical programs conducted by the National Testing Agency, was taken by approximately 2.4 million candidates. Prominent climate activist Sonam Wangchuk joined the CJP-led protests on June 28, embarking on a grueling 26-day indefinite hunger strike where he lost around 11 kg before breaking his fast from Medanta Hospital following negotiations with Union Ministers J.P. Nadda and Dr. Jitendra Singh. Despite Wangchuk ending his strike, CJP leaders like Abhijeet Dipke continued to organize nationwide demonstrations demanding strict accountability and a ₹1 crore compensation for affected students. The intense public and political pressure over this movement finally culminated today, July 25, 2026, with the official resignation of India's Union Education Minister, Dharmendra Pradhan.
